The location of Albergo Firenze is unbeatable—right in Piazza Volta, the main square in Como, with a lively and energetic atmosphere both day and night. It's also just a 5-minute walk to the Lake Como waterfront, which was a huge plus. Great spot if you want to be in the heart of the action.
The price was reasonable for the location, but the hotel itself is very dated. The lobby is small and cramped, making check-in feel a bit chaotic. The elevator is tiny—fits 2–3 people max—so if you have luggage, be prepared to wait or take the stairs. The hallway leading to our second-floor room was particularly run-down, with worn carpet and walls that made a poor first impression.
Fortunately, the room itself was clean, although still quite dated. It was much better maintained than the hallway, which was a relief. We didn’t try the breakfast, so can’t comment on that. Staff interaction was minimal, so hard to judge service overall.
Overall, I appreciated the location but would likely explore other options next time. The hotel could really benefit from a renovation.
