We stayed for one night as we had an appointment near to Bellinzona. Even though the hotel is very noisy (and we had the room directly on the kitchen side) we were still able to sleep well because the beds and the ambience were great. |We decided to book dinner directly in the hotel restaurant and that was a very good decision. The pizza and penne were delicious. Thanks and congratulations to the kitchen! The service was friendly and professional! And the breakfast was simple but sufficient and very good. Big thanks to Paola from the breakfast service and check out for her cordial manner! She is a real sunshine!||Conclusion: The hotel has somewhat thin walls but everything else, employees, owners, food, service, friendliness, etc. were perfect!!! It is honest and true friendliness and not fake. We would visit the hotel again! (But a different room)|Thank you for everything! - Nicoletta

We stayed there for one night and it was fine. The location is very convenient, but the room was a bit small for the three of us. It was very limited or none at all in terms of accessories/amenities. No elevators to get to the rooms, so if you have problems using stairs; I would not recommend to stay there. It was fine for us. We enjoyed the restaurant and the view from the hotel. The staff was very friendly to us.

Overall it was good. The location is top. The room has a comfortable bed and a nice view of the castle bottom. Service was friendly. However the hotel itself is older and resulting in that, it is quite noisy. Sadly no Elevator. The bedsheets had some dirt on it and the trash wasn't cleaned up:(

Loved the place & the food and very helpful service by dear Paula , She serves every guest from the heart, full of life. The food was top class and we loved the extra chilli sauce she offered with food. Pasta's were full of flavours and perfectly Al dante, The pizza was perfectly cooked with balanced ingredients. Overall a great experience. If you are in Bellinzona, Try out this place right in the centre. One of the highlight of our short stay in Bellinzona. Thank you Paula and the Team.

Review of Hotel Ristorante Croce Federale:||||While the location of Hotel Ristorante Croce Federale is convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions, I found my stay to be disappointing overall. Despite the high price, there were no complimentary drinking water, coffee sachets or teabags provided, which was unexpected. Additionally, the lack of an elevator made it challenging for senior citizen guests to navigate the property comfortably.||||Furthermore, the staff's response to noise complaints was unsatisfactory, as they were not helpful in addressing the issue. The presence of mold on the walls of my room was also concerning and detracted from the overall cleanliness and comfort of the accommodations.||||Overall, I cannot recommend Hotel Ristorante Croce Federale due to its overpricing, lack of amenities, and maintenance issues. Potential guests should consider alternatives for a more enjoyable stay.

Wonderful restaurant on the main pedestrian street in Bellinzona that rents out rooms on the second and third floor. The pizzas are amazing, staff very friendly and location perfect for exploring the three UNESCO fortresses in Bellinzona.

Disappointing Stay at Ristorante Croce Federale in Bellinzona, Switzerland My recent stay at Ristorante Croce Federale in Bellinzona, Switzerland, was far from satisfactory. I encountered multiple issues that significantly impacted the quality of my experience. Firstly, the lack of an elevator posed a major inconvenience, especially for travelers with senior citizens or mobility challenges. Having to navigate stairs with luggage can be burdensome and detracts from the overall comfort and accessibility of the hotel. Furthermore, the hotel's response to noise disturbances from the kitchen was unsatisfactory. Despite acknowledging the issue, the staff claimed they were unable to address it, leaving guests to endure constant disruptions throughout their stay. The suggestion of paying extra to change rooms seemed unreasonable, particularly when the inconvenience was caused by the hotel's own shortcomings. Moreover, the lack of complimentary amenities, such as coffee and basic essentials, was disappointing and fell short of expectations for a hotel of this standard. Guests should feel welcomed and well-provided for during their stay, but unfortunately, this was not the case. The condition of the room itself was also concerning, with noticeable stenches and visible molds on the walls. Such unsanitary conditions not only detract from the overall experience but also raise questions about the hotel's cleanliness and maintenance standards. In conclusion, my experience at Ristorante Croce Federale was marred by numerous disappointments, including inadequate facilities, poor customer service, and unsanitary conditions. I cannot recommend this hotel to fellow travelers, and I hope that management takes these concerns seriously and implements necessary improvements for the benefit of future guests.

Yelp
Happened by here for lunch and sat outside in a lovely garden. The place is Italian but with a dose of Swiss. We had pizzas and both were great and as good as amy place in Italy. The staff is attractive and very attentive. There seemed to be a nice mix of locals and tourists. Overall a very pleasant lunch.

Yelp
Note: this review is ONLY for the restaurant. We stopped by here for dinner before taking our train back to Zurich. My friend was really craving pizza and this place had a nice selection of pizzas and was at walking distance from the station, so we decided to check it out. The decòr was a little cliché of places that are trying too hard to appear Italian (one look at the checkered red and white tablecloths and I joked that I felt like I had been thrown into Lady and The Trump) but the restaurant has an interesting placement as it's nestled against a wall of rock and big windows, and I liked that. The pizzaiolo was Italian, which is always a plus :-) Alas, one look at the menu and I knew that unlike in Italy, there would be very little for me to eat here, as in Switzerland Celiac awareness is so low as to be practically non-existent. Add to that the fact that I cannot have most nightshades either (peppers, eggplant, raw tomatoes) and it eliminated 95% of the menu. I opted for the seafood risotto; my friend ordered a salad and a pizza Napoli. The service was quick, efficient and friendly and for that I would give them 4 stars. The salad came in a bowl (nice portion) and had a nice mix of fresh and crisp veggies. The risotto and the pizza were brought out once the salad plate was taken away (once again, good service); very nice presentation. The rice was perfectly cooked and the risotto creamy; however it was sorely lacking both in salt and in seafood flavor. The seafood was rubbery, which means it had been overcooked, and not very flavorful. I understand that of course they'd have to use frozen seafood, and this was a nice mix; it just really showed poor skill in cooking seafood. At 27 francs a plate, I expected a bit better. I couldn't taste the pizza myself, however the crust looked great: fairly thin, crispy at the edges, well-cooked but not dry; plenty of mozzarella but not so much that it sagged heavily in the middle and overpowered everything else. My friend seemed pleased :-) This seems like a good place to go for a pizza night and I would definitely recommend it for that (assuming there were no Celiacs in the group); however as I have to rate everything, I can't go above 2, maybe 2 1/2 stars. Though I will say that I might return and give them a chance to make a better impression with one of the meat dishes :-)

Yelp
All they had was pizza and salad during the day, the pizza was good but just average, nothing you can't get back on the states, I had hoped it would be as good as Italy but sadly not. Small portions of anything containing alcohol or even water was an upcharge. I would look elsewhere for Italian food unless you don't care.

Yelp
The food was ok, but nothing special. We had mushroom risotto (pretty good), battered fish with rice (tastier than it looked) and pizzas (mediocre). The presentation was quite boring and overall the chef seems to be a bit uninspired. The restaurant was full, but that's probably due the good location rather than the quality of the food. On the plus side, the waitresses were friendly and attentive.
