I lost a Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet (€5,550) in the hotel on Dec 25 and reported it immediately. I was told to wait until the next day. Follow-up actions only seemed to happen after I contacted the hotel’s corporate headquarters (Villa d’Este) on Dec 27.
As of today, I have not received any reply from Villa d’Este headquarters to my formal PEC email.
Suggestion:
Based on my experience, I would not bring valuable jewellery to this hotel. When a serious issue occurred, I did not receive timely help, clear explanations, or proper follow-up, and communication eventually stopped without a solution.
How the situation was handled:
• The hotel said a physical search was done, but I was not given any written confirmation or supporting details.
• I asked whether door access records and security cameras had been checked, but I did not receive this information.
• I was told the hotel was not responsible because the item was not kept in the safe. I understand the situation differently and have raised this with the authorities.
After asking for clearer answers and documentation, I was informed that the hotel would only communicate through the authorities, and I received no further direct responses.
Overall stay:
Breakfast options were very limited and below expectations. we had only a few pieces of bacon and a yogurt bowl because options were so limited and unpalatable. Even though the restaurant was mostly empty, staff cleared our plates quickly.
The “lake view” room had a partially blocked view due to nearby buildings.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially in how a serious problem was handled.

I stand by my account. If there are factual inaccuracies, please clarify and provide written documentation addressing the following points within 48 hours:
1. Timeline: Why did substantive investigative actions seem to begin on Dec 27, when I reported the loss on Dec 25? Please provide a written summary of all investigative actions taken between Dec 25–27, including dates and times, the steps carried out, and the conclusions reached.
2. Transparency: Why was my request for a summary of Room 303's electronic door logs (redacting any personal data) declined? Please provide the redacted summary of the Room 303 entry logs to me. If you consider these logs to be protected by privacy rules, please state in writing the legal basis for refusing an anonymized summary and confirm that the original logs and CCTV recordings have been preserved for the authorities.
3. Communication: Why did direct email correspondence cease after I requested documentation? Please check email correspondence.
As of today, I have not received any written documentation and a reply to my PEC, and direct email correspondence has ceased.

One month has passed with no resolution. Since management unilaterally ceased email communication, I have received no further updates or follow-up.
I remain dissatisfied with the delayed physical search, which was conducted without the support of technical verification. While I fully respect privacy regulations and specifically requested only that the hotel internally cross-verify the timeline using Room 303's entry logs and CCTV footage, or give me a redacted summary of the logs , these requests remain unaddressed.
