Albergo Villa Marta, Near Lucca, Tuscany - Explore & Book

"This cream-coloured 19th-century lodge stands at the foot of Monti Pisani, flanked by towering cypress trees and sweeping lawns. It’s only a short drive from historic Lucca and perfect for those who want a peaceful base for dipping in and out of the town’s grand piazzas, medieval walls and bustling markets.Impeccably restored and expertly managed, Albergo Villa Marta has a tranquil and welcoming atmosphere, along with beautiful views over the valley. You enter up 2 flights of steps on either side of the front door and into a soothing reception area. Soft chenille sofas, exposed beams and original Tessiere floors are complemented by antique furniture, and light floods in through tall windows. Dotted around are 15 elegant rooms, some with soaring rafters and canopied beds, others with doors opening onto the garden. There’s also a comfortable sitting room, plus a restaurant where tasty Tuscan food is served up morning, day and evening. Outside, terraces brim with potted lemon trees, and an inviting pool sits beside a jasmine-covered pergola. It’s all highly conducive to relaxation, but should you fancy some activity then cooking classes, personalised tours and bikes can all be arranged. Highs An excellent location in a lesser-known corner of Tuscany, near relatively untouristy Lucca. It's handy for Pisa and its airport, tooA beautiful garden with a pool, loungers and wonderful views of wooded hillsOutstanding service: smooth, friendly, professional Delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners, all packed with fresh Tuscan ingredients (including the villa's own olive oil)Value for money compared to most Tuscan hotels of a similar standard Lows If you prefer contemporary style, this place isn't for youThe dining room lacks atmosphere, but you can eat outside during the warmer monthsThe bathrooms in some rooms look a little dated, but they're well equipped and sparklingly cleanThe restaurant is closed on Sundays, but there are others nearby" - Nadine Mellor

Hotel Albergo Villa Marta (Lucca, Tuscany) 12 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Add another to the rolls of places in Tuscany that seem almost too amazing to be true. Here, a couple of miles outside the ancient walled city of Lucca, you’ll find the Hotel Albergo Villa Marta, a 19th-century hunting lodge lovingly restored by its husband-and-wife owners into an intimate 15-room guest house, surrounded by so many of the classic trappings of rural Tuscany that it almost seems like a put-on: rolling hills, sprawling vineyards, landscaped gardens and even a view of the San Cerbone convent." - Tablet Hotels

Our stay at Albergo Villa Marta was simply wonderful. The place is beautiful. The facilities are carefully maintained and convey a feeling of peace from the very first moment. The service was excellent in every way, but we would especially like to highlight the attention of Roberto. His professionalism, kindness, and warmth made us feel at home from day one. He is a true example of what it means to care for guests, and we wish we could meet more people like him in all our travels

I have very recently returned from staying seven nights this beautiful villa hotel outside of Lucca walled city. It was a splendid stay. Beautiful location and grounds. Lovely, comfortable room. However the highlight for me was the staff - they were very attentive, and always eager to do what they could to help us. A very special mention and thank you to the restaurant staff who went beyond professionalism to ensure your experience was a memorable one with fine food and wine. I cannot recommend Villa Marta highly enough … you won’t be disappointed.

A delightful small hotel just outside the town of Lucca. Rooms are comfortable, there are pleasant gardens and a swimming pool. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is located in a separate glass structure beside the main building. We ate on two evenings and the food was good quality. The only issue that guests may have is the rather steep stairs, firstly up to the front door and then up to the bedrooms. This wasn’t an issue for us but might be for less mobile people.

The setting is very picturesque with a lovely swimming pool. Staff very attentive and helpful. We had a classic room which was fine. We did not have transport which in retrospect I wish we had hired a car, not that there was any problem hiring taxis it just became expensive.

It was amazing! Even we came late rainy evening. We only stayed here one night due to our road trip, and we were so sad to leave, we wish we could have stayed longer! I would like to thank the staff for excellent service, they were so professional and kind. Dinner and breakfast at their hotel were delicious. During both meals the service was incredible. The room was so cozy, charming and very clean. The view from our window was amazing.

What a wonderful hotel guesthouse. We wished we had booked more nights. ||We only stayed one night, but it’s left a lasting impression on us, and I’m already looking to book for next year. ||We stayed in room 101, which is just off the reception area. It’s a lovely quiet hotel, and on the day we arrived (Sunday) we had the whole pool area to ourselves for a good hour or so. ||We stayed as two adults and our 8yr old boy, and he loved it as well.||The pool is a little cold, but once you are in you soon warm up. The sun beds around the pool are very comfortable, so much so I fell asleep and woke myself up snoring ha, the hotel provides towels to use around the pool.||You can order drinks to be served around the pool loungers, and they are reasonably priced for a hotel. ||They have a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner (we only sampled breakfast, which was included in our room rate). The restaurant is closed Sunday night.||The staff are so friendly and helpful, I would highly recommend a stay here. ||We travelled from Pisa airport, which took around 45mins off memory. We then drove into Pisa to visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa and to sample local cuisine. The dining choices were endless. I’m gluten free myself and had lots of options to pick from, including pizza and pasta. ||The hotel is set in a pretty location as well. They have bikes you can use free of charge to visit the location area. A big 10/10 from us.

We have just stayed here for 1 week and it was absolutely amazing! Such a rustic Italian villa with all the amenities you would need. If you want authentic, family feel, peaceful, relaxed atmosphere within a 10 minute drive into Lucca and central to visit all other Tuscan regions, then this is your place! The staff here are so helpful, kind, really do care and want you to be happy and get what you want and need. The restaurant is open for breakfast, for lunch for snacks and if you fancy that added extra something special the restaurant is open in the evening, almost fine dining style with some very good food. The pool is so close to the rooms and enjoyable to sit by and chill. The pool is not heated and would imagine in the summer the sun warms it up. We were there is May and although a bit cold when first walking in, after lying in the warm sun it served to cool you down. The grounds are beautiful and the setting of the villa is so picturesque. They have e-bikes and mopeds available to hire and always willing to advise re days out, train times and order taxis etc Lucca train station is only 10 mins away 20 euro one way. There is lots of parking if hiring a car. The hotel is a a 28 min drive from Pisa Airport but you could arrange a taxi (maybe pricey tho around 70- 90 euro), if having a car you can easily find way round local area with google maps or access the train station and you can take trips to Lucca, Pisa, Florence, Siena and many more places to see. We were sad to leave the hotel Villa staff as all have been wonderful. We will definitely return and also recommend to stay here
