Nestled in the charming St. Lazarus Quarter, this enchanting Portuguese eatery offers a captivating atmosphere and a menu of authentic, flavorful dishes.
Delicious food that didn’t look the part. Found all ingredients were clean and tasty with no overwhelming flavors as it was perfectly balanced. Bacalao, octopus salad, piri piri chicken were standouts. Service was outstanding. The atmosphere was quite charming. Highly recommended!

We had a nice evening. The location is stunning and the building is steeped in history and it is well worth reading up about it.
The sliced Iberic pork and the sucking pig were excellent. The seafood soup and fried vegetables could have been better. The wine list was good and we had an excellent bottle for around MOP700.
It's worth going for the experience and eating in such a lovely old building.
We arrived as they opened and there was a queue for seating. I would recommend booking a table rather than taking a chance in a walk-in.

We decided to go to Albergue 1601 on the recommendation of a friend. The restaurant is in a building over a hundred years old servicing Portugese food. We ordered their house white wine, octopus salad, beef cheeks, mashed potatoes and vegetables, and their cod, eggs and potatoes. The food was delicious. The octopus salad was refreshing. Perfect for a hot humid night. The beef cheeks were tender. The cod bacalha a bras was different from anything I had ever had but was quite yummy. The dessert, saw dust pudding was good too. Our server Marj was excellent. Other staff were friendly as well. A must visit when in Macau.

The food was really good especially the Piri-Piri chicken. I like the introduction of the menu where you can read the history of the restaurant. A very great start before you choose food to enjoy. Staffs are all friendly and always smiling, very accommodating and attentive. All in all, the best experience. Will surely recommend this to my friends and colleagues.

Saw a lot of good reviews, so i went to try it.. Unable to make reservations by phone as calls were unanswered. Reservation can only be made online via website. Tried a few of their popular dishes, however doesn't have the wow factor. I was seated in a room with six tables closely placed side by side as such could hear next table's conversation. This is a place would be better if it was dinner as the atmosphere with lights would make a better dining experience.

- Braised Beef Tongue in Red Wine Sauce: Tender to eat. 8/10.
The waitress who helped us provided us with so much historic information about the restaurant. She even helped us take pictures as well as shared with us some Macao recommendations!

We booked 5:30pm for dinner and were seated immediately when the restaurant was open. The service was very fast. The environment was very nice and the atmosphere was great. We ordered two starters, seafood risotto and roasted suckling pig. They were both great. Recommended if you visit Macao and want to have a Portugal dinner.

Had an excellent dinner experience in this nice cosy Portuguese restaurant. We were served by Ms Ella whom is really friendly and knowledgeable. Celebrating my birthday the the next day and they have offered us a free dessert with birthday candle. Thank you very much!
