15 of the Best Hotels in Sardinia for a Taste of La Dolce Vita | Condé Nast Traveler

"Tucked into the Golfo degli Aranci, this intimate seven-room boutique grew from a family holiday home bought after a honeymoon in the 1970s and is now run by the owners’ son, Alessandro. Furnishings are lovingly repurposed from the family textile business and flea-market finds, and the property is surrounded by a curated garden, vegetable patch, orchard, olive grove and vineyards—making it an ideal serene retreat immersed in nature. The cuisine prioritizes local ingredients, mornings smell of homemade bakes, meals are served under golden sunsets, and guests can relax by the pool or join hands-on experiences such as a day with a beekeeper or cheese-making workshops." - Nicky Swallow, Lucrezia Worthington

Albero Capovolto, Costa Smeralda, Sardinia - Explore & Book

"This blissful hilltop hideaway is a world apart from the daily grind. Peaceful, indulgent and eclectically decorated by debonair Alessandro - the youngest of a Milanese fashion family who spent childhood summers here - it opened in 2014 and has been gaining loyal fans ever since, but the atmosphere remains intimate and exclusive. No pressure or urgency, just a gracious dolce vita of delicious homemade breakfasts, secret white-sand beaches, chilled Vermentino at sunset, and al fresco dinners that celebrate your surroundings. Life flows seamlessly between two outdoor living spaces – one facing the pool, the other the afternoon sun – which spill onto bougainvillea-framed lawns. Cushion-strewn sofas, vintage fittings and salvaged barber's chairs invite you to relax, while lamps made from colour-matched fabric spools evoke his design background. Seven bedrooms are simple and effortlessly elegant. The master suite in the main house is huge, with its own living room and patio; for more privacy, book the separate garden suite a short walk away, with its own relaxation area under an olive tree. Highs Only 20 minutes' drive from Olbia airport, itself only 2 hours flight from the UK (London and regional airports) If you tire of beaches, there are Bronze Age citadels, wineries, pastel villages hidden in granite hills From beekeeping to cheese-making, there are a range of classes to try your hand at The swimming pool is really the final piece in this idyllic jigsaw Alessandro is a very thoughtful host, always happy to share his favourite restaurants, boat trips and local highlights Lows To fully explore the surrounding area and beautiful beaches you’ll need a car It’s a converted family home, so don’t expect hotel-style reception or all-day staff No TVs or radios in the rooms, but this is your chance to switch off" - Michael Cullen

Simply exquisite! Alessandro has captured perfection in every detail. We feel so grateful to have experienced the beauty and grace of this property. The staff are so lovely, we had dinner here twice and it was the best food we had in Sardinia. The breakfast as well, wow… we were so excited every day to wake up and have breakfast again, the ingredients are so fresh and high quality. Make sure to purchase a bottle of the most delicious local olive oil to take home with you! Thank you Alessandro for the most lovely time. We cannot wait to return to this special place, we absolutely will be returning!

A beautiful place with a soul run by a lovely owner. Like being invited into a good friend’s family holiday home for a warm stay. Except your friend has impeccable taste, excellent aesthetics and an eye for detail. Serving delicious homemade food with the best ingredients, great views and amazing energy. Can’t wait to be back! <3

What an incredible surprise. This is beyond a gem of a hotel that is almost hidden in plain site. It is a six bedroom hideaway that is owned and run by Alessandro who converted his family’s holiday home into a luxururious escape for a lucky few. He has meticulously put the place together with an incredible eye for every little detail. We did not experience a dinner here but the breakfasts were amazing and truly homemade. Beyond delicious. It really feels like we were staying in a good friend’s luxury home. I could go on and on, but it’s better that you experience this for yourself. Hopefully, we will be back. STAY HERE YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.

This property is absolutely stunning. You know how restaurants have Michelin stars; two being worth a detour and three being worth a special journey... well if hotels had a similar system then Albero Capovolto deserves three stars hands down. This property is absolutely worth a special journey to experience. The atmosphere is so serene and peaceful, my mind couldn't even dream up a more peaceful and beautiful place. The service is outstanding and you feel so at home. They offer dinner as well and you can tell the chef puts so much thought and love into the ingredients and flavors of the meal. I hope to be able to return someday and absolutely recommend a trip to Sardinia just to experience this place.

There are no words to truly express how magical Albero Capovolto is. The thought, care and attention to detail that has gone into every element is clear from the moment you arrive. We only stayed two nights and left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. It was easily the most special place I’ve ever stayed. The team, led by owner Alessandro, were all wonderful. We loved our stay and couldn’t recommend it more highly.

To say that the Albero Capovolto is a wonderful place to spend a holiday in the Sardinian countryside simply does not do the place justice. Alessandro, the warm, gracious owner and caretaker of the property, has created from his family home a living, breathing work of art that you can see, touch, smell, taste and feel - from the photographs on the wall and terracotta interiors to the locally sourced food and wine and painstakingly maintained gardens and landscaping. We were sad to say goodbye!

We are so incredibly grateful for the three nights we spent on our honeymoon at Albero capovolto! Alessandro and his team provided incredible hospitality, welcoming rooms, delicious food, drinks, and apertivos, and a fabulous welcome to the island. The rooms were comfortable and we really enjoyed the two private dinners cooked by Chef Erika! The hotel and its grounds were so thoughtfully curated and no detail was forgotten! We hope to return soon!
