Hello H.

Google
The grounds and area are well kept, contain many monuments and historical information signs and are very pedestrian friendly with public washrooms available in places. Sadly, access to Legislature itself is by an ugly side door and at very few hours. A reflection of the government itself. The red tape reduction was a recent positive step. Looking around these grounds and then the city and province you see a contrast of clean and well kept to a very unkempt province. Both getting more and more inaccessible as the Alberta Advantage disappears to pay as you go premiums and hyper inflation. Distance to market used to mean an advantage. Being beside the gateway to the North and being the hub of trade for the region has brought prosperity for a few long term provincial residents. The rest have become taxpayers, private rate payers and eventually poorer overall. While once amazing public institutions are sold at losses to private entities that somehow still get public money and still are monopolies. If your beside the power and resource generation, suffer the immediate fallout and mismanagement, and then pay upwards of 800% more then customers down the line then other provinces or countries. Something is very wrong. Like how access to here is off to a side door and limited. So is the advantage for most at the current moment.

We registered for one of the free guided tours and it was a great experience! Make sure to show up before the start of your tour because you do have to go through security. The entrance is below the staircase on the west side of the building. Our tour guide Will was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I wish we had more time to ask him more questions, but the tours have time limits for security reasons probably. I brought a friend from Calgary and it was very cool to hear about Edmonton's history with the monarchy and with the placement of the province's capital.

Google
Beautiful gardens and splash park to explore. Go early! Enjoy the quietness before the crowds show up. Going downstairs in the corridors they have a lego version of the legislature building. Well detailed and fun!

Google
The visit was excellent, with a committed tour guide. We had enough time inside to be able to take as many pictures as we wanted. A must do in Edmonton. The grounds are very safe. I needed a cab at the time and did not have any cell network for some reason, I asked for some help to the policeman at the grounds entrance, he called it for us straight away, so kind ! Canada in a nutshell.

Google
It was nice free state tour. Just sign beforehand. Youll spend half an hour with nice guide and good story

The Alberta Legislature Building is a stunning spot that perfectly blends history, architecture, and scenic beauty. The grounds are impeccably maintained, and walking around gives you a real sense of grandeur and elegance. The views are incredible, whether you’re admiring the building itself or taking in the surrounding cityscape and greenery. It’s a peaceful, inspiring place to stroll, snap photos, or just enjoy a moment of calm in the heart of Edmonton🏛️

Google
Such an incredible building and grounds; 100% worth a visit! I was amazed by the nice features around the building, like the giant pool in front of the entrance that people can walk around in. At 6 pm the bells sounded, and then they kept up a joyful tune for at least 5 minutes! The grounds are kept extremely clean and tidy, it is clear everything is meticulously cared for. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Edmonton and have an interest in government!

Google
We visited this place and everything was amazing. There was a 10-minute film about Alberta — it was excellent and completely free. The guided tour lasted about an hour and was very informative. The entire experience was well-organized and enjoyable. Best of all, it was completely free to attend. I highly recommend visiting — it’s definitely worth it. Make sure to book in advance through their website.

Yelp
Edmonton is the capital of the province of Alberta so the Legislature Building is located here. This is where the Legislative Assembly and the Executive Council meet for an assembly or session to discuss law and ordinances. I do come here not for that, but to rather admire the beautiful architecture and stunning grounds here. Located next to the North Saskatchewan River, you can see the magnificent dome from afar. No one can deny the amazing architecture done here. Everyone marvels around the marble pillars and all other fixtures made of either mahogany, oak or brass. The Legislature grounds is also an ideal place for friends and families. I've actually witnessed so many wedding pictorials held in here in the past and remains a favorite spot. With a beautiful landscape, grassy areas, colorful flowers, and benches under beautifully lined trees, this is a nice place to hold a picnic, play some board or ball games, read a book, or simply hang around daytime or even night time. One outstanding feature of the Legislature grounds is the huge fountain in front of the building where people can either swim or dip toes in the pool during summer months. The same pool freezes during winter months and turns into a skating rink so grab your skates on. Spare extra time to join a free guided tour but make sure to register in advance online. This is something I need to do on my next visit because I heard they have a brand new visitor center with different galleries and state-of-the-art 4-D theatre where you can actually feel the snow and wind on your face.

Yelp
This is tour attraction place (in my mind). Lots of people come here for pictures. I did get lots of nice pictures. the area is big and its a nice place to walk around. So if you are in Edmonton drop by and take pictures.

Ant C.

Yelp
Take the tour if you have time to kill, like we did. Otherwise it is a waste of time. The area near welcome center is worth going to (specially the video there), tunnel connecting the welcome center to the main building is cool with some periscopes and cool exhibits.

Yelp
I love walking around the Legislature grounds. Now they have Capital Boulevard on 108 Street leading up to the Legislature, it's beautiful to walk to and see lots of people on their lunch break and tourists enjoying the plaza area. The grounds are kept looking lovely with flowers. I used to walk most lunch hours around and it's great to get away from the noise of downtown. The fountain is a popular attraction on a hot summer day. One day we went for a tour and were the only ones with the tour guide. I would recommend this free tour to learn history and check out the inside of the Legislature. Will continue to stop by and walk around in between meetings as it's my favourite spot to enjoy the outdoors and close by downtown buildings.

Yelp
The Legislature is more than just a building where political things happen (well, it is that too) but it's also a great plot of land in downtown Edmonton where people can relax, play in the fountains (or skate in winter!), walk, and enjoy some activities like the Canada Day celebrations among others. Some people take graduation pictures and wedding pictures here too as it is really aesthetically pleasing. I've even seen a concert once! Free tours are available daily of the actual Legislature building which is well worth checking out -- some of the neat tricks include one involving sound and one involving the portraits. And if you look way up you can see the palm trees in the dome. Finally in the winter you can come in for free hot chocolate to listen to the carolers during the Christmas season. The Legislature (and the grounds) is well worth a visit.

Yelp
My family and I went for a stroll to the Leg grounds just to get some fresh air. We stumbled upon the Visitor Information Centre which is north of the Leg building - in the newly renovated east federal building. Let me tell you what we found. My mind was blown and I had a perverted smile on my face for our 1.5 hours of venturing. This is what you do - take a look at the large living wall they have in the building, it's amazing. Take in the decor on the entrance way. It's really refreshing. Now walk up the stairs towards the Security desk and turn left. There will be a person sitting a chair in front of the Pehonan Theatre. Ask them what time the next show is, NOW GO TO THE SHOW!!! This 11 minute movie talks about the birth of Alberta. It will blow your f-ing mind and make you all patriotic. I am not giving any spoilers, when you walk in you might say "where the f is the movie screen' don't worry about it. Just open your mind and be MIND BLOWN. After I watched it, I was wanting more. It could have been a 30 minute show or 2 hours long. In fact I could have spent all day in there watching it. It was well produced and you will be wanting more. Now after you are done that, head into Alberta Branded. But keep your hands to yourself. The craftsmanship of goods is absolutely stunning. Now venture over to the Agora Interpretive Centre. This is where you will get some kick-ass history lessons on Alberta and immerse your mind with knowledge. You will leave there saying "I live in a fucking awesome province" Time will fly by, you will have fun and you will want to go back. I know I am heading back there again, soon. Oh ya, best part, it's all free. I say this is taxpayer money well spent. And one of the best kept secrets in Edmonton.

Yelp
I began to appreciate the Alberta Legislature Grounds again, when I worked in a building overlooking the area two summers ago. Me and other co-workers would sit on the grass for our breaks or go find a cozy bench to eat our lunch. The view is always beautiful, and it's very relaxing to be at least somewhat immersed in nature. The only thing I found unpleasant were the wasps that were either trying to get a bite of my lunch or a bite of me. There's always lots of people here, when it's hot and sunny. Some people wade in the pools and other people just lay on towels to get a suntan. I've seen quite a few older men, wearing nothing but a tiny speedo--they obviously have no shame. I have taken a lot of pictures here, and if you're into nature photos, this is a great place to snap some great shots. There's lots of vibrant flowers here, and the trees and fountains are nice too. Even the legislature building itself is beautiful enough to capture. I've gone inside as well and taken some very nice photos. Getting here is rather easy. There's lots of buses that stop near here, and Grandin LRT station takes you right up to the grounds.

Yelp
A true Edmonton landmark. Great location, great views. Both beautiful in the evening and during the day, this is a great place to go for a walk during a date, or after dinner at Pampa for example. The Leg isn't just about the building, there's many little art instalments and multiple levels so you can walk up and down the hills and through the regular lawn. It's why it's one of the most photographed things in the city, often a backdrop for weddings, graduations, and general photo ops. Local magazines have also cheekily mentioned it's one of the more popular places for PDA, too. If you need a reminder that Edmonton can and does have amazing views, check out the Legislature grounds. Beautiful during the summer AND winter!

Yelp
I love the Legislature Grounds, its a great place to bring your lunch and have a seat. Its really busy here in the summer lots of kiddies in the little wading pools, I just like getting splashed, Cant wait for summer. I've been here in the fall and winter and its still great. LOVE,LOVE,LOVE.

Yelp
I love coming here all times of the year. In summer it is a great place to wade in the fountains, walk around the grounds, play a friendly game of ultimate frisbee, have a picnic or book a tour and get educated on Alberta's politics. In winter, during the holiday season, the legislature grounds are lit up with Christmas lights, Christmas music is playing, hot chocolate is served, choirs are singing and you can go skating on the man-made outdoor rink. It is quite lovely and I enjoy myself every time I go. A definite must see if you have never been. Yelp
Came here today for their 21 gun salute for remembrance day. I was very impacted by the service. They fired off the Canon in between the stanzas of Flanders field. There was a little speech / prayer, followed by taps etc. If I could make a suggestion, it would have been nice if soldiers were walking around with ear plugs and if the site would have posted correct information. They only mentioned 21 gun salute. We didn't know about the before part. Thank you to all the troops who have served and are serving our country. As well the families of those who /have served or great country, protecting the freedom we enjoy. YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!

Yelp
No matter the time of year the sight of the Alberta Legislature always makes me stop and take a moment to appreciate it's majestic beauty. You can get free tours through the building from one of the many friendly and informative guides. There is also lots to see and do on the outside of the building including a walk along one of the many paths or a dip in one of the wading pools. If your out walking in winter they do a spectacular job of decorating the grounds making it a festive and romantic place to walk with your special someone. The pools can get a little crowded on the hottest days of summer with hundreds of sweaty Edmontonians and you will encounter the occasional panhandler. They are mostly harmless however and diligent security guards make frequent rounds to maintain peace and order. Minus the few small occasional irritations this is a solid place to spend a fun and relaxing day so grab an iced cream and enjoy!

Yelp
Beautiful historical government assembly building! I try to do a tour at least once a year. I have been coming here since I was a teenager. Brought my Girl Guide troop annually. Be sure to sign up for one of their very interesting tours. Kids enjoy it too! Find the spot up on the third floor where anything you say is heard in another spot on the main floor. Find the spot on the main floor where you can hear invisible, non-existent waterfalls! (Or is it the water fountains outside?) Find out about Alberta's very interesting government history. Come for a visit during the Christmas season to enjoy the beautiful floral decorations & trees. Take a stroll around the huge grounds, picnic by the water fountains or even splash around in them! Great place to visit!

Yelp
The grounds have always been beautiful and I've been many times. As a kid I adored the lawn bowling tournaments, the players looked so elegant and fashionable. As a young adult it was part of my neighbourhood walk. This year was the first time I've been for the Christmas official "light up". It's a lovely way to start the season, starting with the UofA mixed choir performing on the main staircase within the building. Very polished performance! Disappointed some people rudely chatted throughout, even when asked to be quiet. When so much work goes into perfecting this type of choral quality it's a shame some folks think it appropriate to draw attention away from the "star" attraction. The noise of the security machine was notable as well, but I'm grateful for the presence of the friendly efficient security staff. I understand these precautions now seem necessary. The old girl herself (our ABLeg building) looked quite posh in her winter regalia. And free hot chocolate & cookies, classic! Thanks to all the staff and volunteers who put such a great deal of effort into this event. The "light up" was a big treat. Thousands of bulbs painstakingly hung all along the boulevard with the stunningly tall Alberta spruce as the centerpiece. A warm welcoming invitation to everyone extended by the Speaker and Health minister. Nice way to kick off the Christmas Season.

Yelp
We Edmontonians are fortunate to have not only the designation of Alberta's capital city, but also the Legislative Grounds! The grounds are a beautiful place to visit regardless of the time of year. In the winter ice sculptures are displayed in and around the main fountain and a good sized ice rink is found on the south side of the grounds. Over the Christmas holidays thousands of lights illuminate the trees and it's a beautiful site to behold driving past on 109 Street or roaming the grounds. On a hot summers day you'll be hard pressed to find a place to park (both your vehicle and yourself) as this is one of the City's hot spots! The multi-layer fountain and main fountain are a draw for young and old alike from romping through or dangling your tootsies in them. I spent much time here last summer with my daughter and nieces. Security personal are on hand during these busy times so you can feel more comfortable letting lose, but keep valuables at home or in your locked car just the same. Let's not forget about the treat vendours - yup, they make a killing on hot days selling ice cream and popsicles. Once the snow melts the ground truly come to life. Of course there are flowers galore and over 100,000 annuals are planted to further add to the natural colour explosion. On the south side of the grounds you'll find an amphitheater/bandshell, lawn bowling courts, and the area for the skating rink, in addition to the walking paths and parklike setting, all overlooking the North Saskatchewan River. Of course one has to mention the water fall on the High Level Bridge - takes place on the long weekends over the summer. Regardless of the time of year you visit the Legislative Grounds you'll be sure to find pictures being taken of weddings, groups and individuals. Part of the draw for me is the little bit of heaven in the city. Often we go down with a picnic lunch in hand and relax or stroll around the grounds. There is one tree I like to sit under on the south lawn. When I look up from there I can only see the grounds and the south entrance of the Legislature. Makes me imagine we have our own palace in the middle of the prairies (ok, insert Tragically Hip song here...)

Yelp
Probably the nicest building and property in Edmonton. The Leg is quite welcoming with all its public grounds where people can hang out. I live two blocks away so when it gets hot in the summer, it's nice to come to the Leg and cool down by the wading pool. Since everyone is commenting on the property itself I want to talk about the free guided tour of the building that they offer everyday of the year except for Christmas, New Year's Day and Good Friday. I had lived here for three years and hung out at the Leg often but never took in the tour until my aunt and uncle were in town for a visit. I took them for the free tour on Father's Day around noon and we were the only ones participating at that time so it was like a private tour. A young lady, Laura, was an excellent hostess and guided us around the inside of the Legislature building with all sorts of historical anecdotes and insight. I could tell she enjoyed what she was doing and was genuinely interested in history herself. It was certainly appreciated that she was able to answer any questions we had. I would recommend this tour as it's free and won't take up too much of your day, about 45 minutes.

Yelp
No matter what season, it's always nice to visit the Legislature grounds whether you're in need of the perfect scenic backdrop, or just want to take a stroll around the area. It actually covers quite a lot of surface area, and the flowers are always well-tended during the growing seasons. In the summer, everything is in full bloom and the wading area is packed. Young kids are splashing in the wading pools and fountains, and women are sprawled out across the lawns trying to get the perfect tan. You'll often see wedding parties taking photo shoots on the other side of the grounds. I remember walking the grounds as a flower-girl for my aunt's wedding when I was little. Graduation parties are also common at the end of the school year. I came here myself with a bunch of friends for some photos, post-grad party. The grounds are absolutely beautiful in autumn, when all the trees turn bright colours. This is the best time of year for photos, I think. Although if you appreciate the beauty of fresh white snow, the winter offers the perfect winter wonderland backdrop as well. During the Christmas season, they decorate all the trees with strings of colorful lights. I think it lends a magical quality to the grounds. And even though it gets quite cold around that time, I still like to stroll around with friends at night.

Yelp
The Legislature is my favourite Edmonton destination when there's nothing better to do on a summer or autumn afternoon than pick up a to-go coffee and sit underneath a tree to read. The best spots for this happen to be at the south and southwest; huge trees dapple sunlight over unbelievably green grass, and you can usually obtain a fair amount of privacy in comparison to front of the Legislature building, where kids and parents frolic like maniacs in the wading pool and numerous fountains. My preferred reading area overlooks the bowling green, which turns into a skating rink in the winter and had, at one time, part of one of the original Fort Edmontons sitting over it. You can also plan some mean romantic dates for this area: try my favourite, night-time candlelight picnic, amongst the trees here. Slightly to the east, there's a beautiful, yellow/orange-lit tree-lined path that is divine for smooching. If you hate crowds and love either late nights or early mornings, these are the ideal summertime moments to visit the wading pool and fountains, when the toddlers are all safely tucked in their beds. It's usually either deserted, or populated with a few young people having a good time. And as mentioned, winter is also a great time to visit the Legislature grounds. On a still night with soft snowflakes and the brightly-lit Christmas lights, a travel mug of hot chocolate clutched between your mittens, winter becomes almost welcome. During the daytime, the Legislature's gift shop is open; this is located at the north end of the wading pool/fountain area. Pick up postcards, books and maple candies, and look at some of the old outfits the government guys used to wear. I like coming in here and rifling through the racks of brochures on things to do in Edmonton, Alberta, and elsewhere in Canada; there's enough free literature to plan a serious road trip.

Yelp
I haven't actually been here since a Grade 4 field trip in never-you-mind-what year. Friends invited me out for a walk on the grounds, and I never knew what I was missing until now. Even with pools of melting snow those grounds are still beautiful and well kept. There's even a little amphitheater, and plenty of clean benches to enjoy the view. The sidewalks are clear, and the trees are healthy. I can't wait to see this place in bloom, and to see the pools and fountains full. It has such a tranquil feel, I can see why it's such a popular place for a walk. I wish I could have gone inside, but I will again one day. The sight of that building always fills me with a sense of awe at the beauty and historical value is possesses. It is a massive work of art. I'm thinking this is a nice, inexpensive way to enjoy the outdoors.

Yelp
I love the Leg. I love walking around the beautiful, well-maintained groups, I love cycling here through the River Valley, and I love splashing around int he wading pools in the summer months. As a political activist, I have taken part in numerous demonstrations on the steps of the Legislature building itself - what a rush! This is the place where democracy is supposed to happen, where free speech reigns, and people should feel free to express themselves. I take pictures here, attend events, and just generally think it is one of the most picturesque places in Edmonton. Guided tours of the Legislature building are available, and in another structure leading to the LRT stations is a gift shop, washrooms, and all kinds of displays about Edmonton. I would definitely recommend a tour here for anyone visiting the city.

Yelp
How can you not love the Leg. grounds?! This is one of the best place in Edmonton to go for a romantic walk or even a solo stroll to clear your head. A lot of people associate the Leg. grounds with summer - the wading pool, fun in the sun activities, etc. I, on the other hand, associate the Leg. grounds with winter. I loooooove walking the grounds in the winter. They are breathtaking. The Christmas lights create an atmosphere that is unmeasurable. I love to grab a hot chocolate and walk the grounds, watch people skating, couples falling deeper in love, and children playing in the snow. It really is a great place to be in the winter. Somehow I always manage to brave the cold when I know I'm going to the Leg. grounds. It just doesn't seem as cold when I'm there. I know it may sound cheesy, but I really do love the feeling that is in the air on a cool winter evening at Alberta's Legislature Grounds. I can't wait! Bring on the snow!

Yelp
In the rain or shine always gets me to stop to check out the beauty. But it is the utmost at its beauty in the summer when they have the water fountains turned on and water filled in front of the Legislature, with the sunshine glowing, glistering off the water. In June will see graduates surrounding the place with their cap and gowns for picture opportunities. July, it will be filled with family and friends for Canada day. Take a step inside and see the work behind what "runs" our province and walk through history with previous premiers portraits on display and remember them with great honour - especially Mr. Ralph Kline. May he RIP. Next is to walk around the building, to the grass area out front facing the river, high level bridge. Also where there is ice skating in the winter, lawn bowling in the summer. A Landmark to admire and to be proud of.
google avatar

Chantel H.

Yelp
Its Free fun for the whole family. Spending a day at the Leg is easy to do on a hot summers day. There's lots more to do then just play in the fountains. The Federal building has quite a few activities so don't forget to check that out. Oh, and all the Pokeè stops, those are definitely drawing a crowd. I also appreciate all the security on the grounds. Then there are the lawns behind the Leg. Where you can play a rousing game of lawn bowling or just relax beneath the shade of some of the beautiful trees and have a picnic while enjoying all the flowers in the surrounding gardens.

Yelp
Happy Canada Day A really large nice park grounds. They have a fountain/pool located in front of the legislature located on the grounds. Do not dive in as it is only like 3 ft deep, side story had to take a buddy to the hospital because he did dive in, one concussion later. There's plenty of path ways to walk but I wish they had more monuments/eye catchers to look at. During many holidays they usually have events here, from pancake breakfasts to viewing fireworks. You can also walk to the high level bridge from here and have an amazing view of the river and its parks. Parking can be a little bit of an issue but there are many bus routes and a train stop near by. During Christmas they decorate the trees and it looks pretty cool. If you want to take a date for a walk, or a day with the family. the LEG grounds might be a place to check out.
google avatar

Francesca K.

Yelp
This beautiful park like setting is a great place to be year round. In the winter, the trees are frosted and are covered in beautiful lights. In the summer, the grass is lush and green, the trees bloom and the fountains flow. On a nice day during the summer, it can be tough to find a place to lay a blanket. Kids are running through the main fountain, women and men are laying on blankets with picnics and young people are throwing frisbees. It truly is the center of Edmonton when the heat turns up, but it also must be seen during the winter. Just try to pick a nice night to go where you won't freeze your fingers off!
google avatar

Jack G.

Yelp
The Leg is a really nice place. It doesn't feel like it even belongs here. As you walk around the grounds you feel as if this is what all of downtown should feel like. It is always buzzing with people, especially in the summer time. You can see parents with their kids, older couples, younger couples, students, etc. The entire grounds photograph really well so you will also find many people coming here on special occasions. I know many weddings parties that come here to take pictures immediately after they say 'I do'. Pretty much every High School comes here right before grade 12 graduation to take pictures. It's really a great place to check out, there's something calming about it.

Yelp
The Legislature grounds is one of my favorite places in the world. On a beautiful summer day it is wonderful to stop by, dip your feet in the wading pool, or watch the children splash around. The lawns are stunning, and very well kept. When the trees are green and the flowers are in bloom, you will think that you have stepped into a little peace of paradise. In the winter at night, the trees sparkle with hundreds of tiny Christmas lights. It is the perfect sanctuary for any season.

Yelp
Which season to start with? Well I'm only going to do two winter and summer. Winter it is a magical place over the Christmas season the lights and music dancing and playing sometimes you will even hear a beautiful choir down here. Picture perfect opportunities. During the winter it is a nice place to walk around relax and enjoy the beautiful legislative building and quiet walks around the gardens with beautiful views of the city lights and white snow sparkle off each other. The little fires lite around and different history statuses and writings around the gardens are interesting. In the summer wow what a great place to hang out and chill out in all the water pools at the building it's bursting with happy people enjoying a break nestled over looking the city. The gardens is a great area to hang out have a picnic and play some frisbee or listen to some folk play their instruments in the sun. A great place to unwind and have fun. Oh I will mention in the spring and fall it's a great place to fly a kite.. I could ad so much more like I didn't even touch on events but I'll get you to explore it for yourself!!!

Jamie P.

Yelp
Went for a tour of the building and it was very interesting! Im not into politics & what not but it was really fun! Our tour guide, Keltie, made things funny and easy to follow! Wow ! What a fantastic lady! Feels like were friends now! Maybe Ill ask her to go for burgers some time! 10/10 experiences would recommend for all ages. Ps. coat check is free!

Yelp
"The Leg (pronounce with a soft 'g' )" grounds are beautiful all year round, but my favourite time of year there is in the fall, when the trees are fleetingly in full colour. I once had a photo shoot done there, and it proved a lovely backdrop. The lawns are well-manicured and lined with flowers and pathways. The Olympic flame burns 24 hours a day, and there are a few other statue monuments to visit. The really stellar sight is the fountain and pool area, which in the summer is full of people dipping and wading. On a hot Edmonton day, a real scorcher, this is the best place to be if you're not 50 km away at the nearest lake. I love watching the little kids wade in the shallow pond filled with stepping stones. Inevitably the Sun or Journal photographers are down here snapping shots for the paper. It's wonderful that the political hub or our capital city can also be a populous hub. Whether you're looking to take a solitary stroll or congregate with the masses, our provincial grounds are a great place to visit.

Yelp
Great way to spend some time outdoors in a park that is beautifully maintained year round. I enjoy walking around taking in all the sights and sounds, and of course, people watching (you can find some very interesting characters here). Excellent cheap date night option.

Yelp
The Legislature grounds has the most beautiful buildings and scenic views to look at especially in the summer time. If you work close by, this is the best place to go for walks and take a break from a stressful day of office work. This is also a busy park with lots of events, trees, fountains and just about every kind of public will come here to enjoy this landmark. I've never really thought of this place as being the most remarkable and most memorable place until I had one very romantic date here. We took our time walking through the grounds looking through each side of the buildings and checking for any open doors to go into just to see if we could do anything mischievous. We loved people watching and we laughed at all the silly people that were wheel barreling each other; perhaps it was a school project... There were people playing sports and a bunch of teenage boys splashing water in the wading pool talking about how to pick up girls. We were holding hands and enjoying the sweet scent of each and every plant and flowers that we've past by. Embracing each other as we stroll along the path with cement then to grass. Learning the rhythm of walking together and imagining owning a rooftop as a living space. There were many staircases amongst the historical buildings. Jay and I found OUR steps and we sat on it, holding each other in our arms as we watched the sun set. I will never forget this moment, because as he held me in his arms and stroking my hair, I realize this memory has left a mark on my heart forever. He told me later that week; when he held me in his arms on those steps, he never wanted to let go and wanted to stay in this place forever. I felt the exact same thing. =) The Legislature is definitely a wonderful place to write a romantic story and take pictures for any special occasion!

Yelp
The Legislature grounds are pretty good as public parks go, but the big downside is sharing such a beautiful place with the public. I know, I know, that sounds bad, but all too often my sunbathing is interrupted by a homeless man harassing me for change then stripping to bathe in the fountains. Sure, security patrols enough to get them out in 2 minutes or less, but the interruption is still there. Despite the eccentric bathers, this is a great place to bring kids on a sunny day. The pools are shallow and ice cream vendors abound. Pack a picnic and set up in the shade, you will enjoy yourself! Don't forget your pool shoes though -- the bottom of the fountains is all rock and it is NOT comfortable to walk on. Best to get some shoes or sandals you don't mind submerging before you attempt to wade about.

Yelp
Great place to walk around any time of the day. Great place to come on a hot summer day to cool off in the pools or lay in the grass. In the winter, walk around the lighted trees while you sip hot chocolate.

Yelp
love playing there in the pool in the summer and skating in the winter. Great tours and art gallery in the visitor's centre!
