We came at 7pm without a reservation and they were kind enough to fit us in, asking us to come back at 8pm. It’s a small quaint local restaurant with traditional Franconian food. There are a lot of framed embroidery on all the walls that add to the charm of this local spot. The embroidery framed in front of our table said to eat and drink without worry (trink und iss sorgenvergiss) and we followed the instructions well. We ordered the special oven roast pork with dumplings and red cabbage and somehow had room for apple fritters and warm plums for dessert. The pork was AMAZING - tender, with crispy skin, and the potato dumpling was light and fluffy and the red cabbage was also the perfect complement to the meal. Apple fritters were crispy and chewy and the warm plum was also delish. Our server was very friendly and I would highly recommend this place. Make a reservation in advance if you want to eat immediately 😊

Very good traditional Franconian food in a half-timbered house with several floors. Both the Nuremberg sausages and the cheese spaetzle were excellent. The beer served here is from the Augustiner brewery out of Munich.

Small and cozy place with great atmosphere. Perfect for traditional Franconian food and experience. Not too touristy. Limited vegetarian options, but the Kässpätzle were tasty. The place is a bit tight and it was crowded, so better come with reservation.

This restaurant offers extremely well-priced traditional Franconian food in a lovely, rustic atmosphere. The food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to try Franconian food.

Google
Really traditional restaurant with nice traditional food. The service was really attentive and if you don’t know what to order, gladly will give you recommendations. The prices are really fair and I recommend you the potato salad and the Schäufele (pork shoulder) which is a traditional dish of this region. You can pay with card or cash. Note: the restaurant is quité popular so make a reservation.

This was by far the most disappointing dinners I've had in a long time. The food was excellent but they really put their worst foot forward in terms of service and atmosphere. To start the entire restaurant was filled with smoke when we arrived so by the end of dinner we all smelled like fry oil. We were seated at a shared table next to the kitchen and the other party of 4 that was seated well after us had their order taken and their drinks delivered before we were even asked for our order. We were also asked earlier in the day if we could change our reservation to an earlier time and even though we accommodated their request we were still treated as an after thought. The only reason this restaurant gets two stars is because the food was very well done but I could not recommend eating here if this is the level of service they regularly provide.

The food are nice but too too salty. If they can make it less salty will be 4.5/5 The place is very hot , small but cosy.

Very tasty, nice ambiance and good prices! I went there to have a late lunch / early dinner because they were fully booked in the evening due to a fair, so I was quite hungry 😅. So I started with the famous schäufele, which I paired with a rotbier. Then I tried the käsespätzle - which has been one of the best I've ever tried! - and paired it with a hell beer ofc. Everything is totally recommended!

Yelp
Very unique cultural dining experiences exactly what we are looking for the restaurant in Germany. We shared the table with other guests because we did not have a reservation (fun experience and nice chat with local people) The owner and services are very friendly and welcoming to us. Each main dish comes with house salad on the side. You can tell that this restaurant is for local family gathering. They are famous for their pork shoulder dish. We ordered their homemade soups (Horseradish creamy soup and garlic & chive soup - very creative recipe only found at this place :) also ordered spaetzle (Germany egg noodles) with deep fried onions on the top is very interesting dish (one of food must try when visiting Germany. Overall the food and dinning experience was memorable!!!!

Yelp
First a disclaimer, I never made it inside the restaurant but stayed out on the patio because the weather was simply fabulous that night. Looked like everyone had the same idea. The patio overlooks the Tiergaertner Tor Platz and it was crowded like a beehive tonight. The huge plaza tree was lit up and thousands of folks enjoying their night on the patios of the surrounding restaurants, on the plaza benches, or even seated on the ground. Great ambiance all together. The staff was very attentive and we didn't seem to have an assigned server as any of them passing by checked to see if we needed anything. The menu here changes often, but also has a few staples and some innovative takes on our Franconian dishes. So we discovered Pretzel pizza... I was suspicious at first, reading the list of ingredients, but threw caution in the wind and went for the Franconian version (my friend opted for the Vegetarian). It really did sound horrible... laugen dough (which is what pretzels are made of), Schmarrn (related to sourcream, or cream cheese, but not quite the same), local brats, kraut, cheese and tomatoes. I was prepared for a nightmare... but it ended up being delicious. The pizzas were served with a mini salad topping the middle of it. The dough was nice and thin and had that typical nice chewy crust all around. The ingredients worked surprisingly well together, but could have done without the tomatoes. Visually they were a nice pop of colors, but tastewise they had no business on the Franconian Pretzel pizza. I didn't try the vegetarian version, but my friend, who is a tiny person, ate the entire thing, whereas I could only finish half of mine. So I would say she enjoyed it. I had the pana cotta with blueberry compote and was delighted to see the compote made from the small blueberries I grew up with instead of these huge overbred tasteless blueberries so common nowadays. Kudos to this place. Check it out if you are ever in the area.

Yelp
Agree with this fabulous restaurants overall rating on TA. This was our third visit over the last nine years and are already looking forward to our next one in a couple of years. We booked well in advance and so very glad we did. When we arrived it was already full and by the time we were almost finished the first diners were almost gone and the next arrivals were packing in. We ordered some Nuremberg Sausages, the Schaufele, a Spargel Salat, and for dessert the red current sorbet. The three food items arrived as requested at the same time as we were sharing. Everything was perfect. The Spargel was the best we have had loved the light vinaigrette and perfectly cooked. The Nuremberg sausages are always my favorite as I could eat a ton of them. The rotkohl was spot on. And then there was the roasted pork Schaufele. The top layer was a perfect crops and the meat fell off the bone. Loved the amount of gravy that accompanied it so I could dip my tender shreds of pork into it and had enough for my roasted potatoes. The dessert was delicious but it could not be enjoyed as much as it should have been because we were just too full to appreciate it. Would eat a bit less and enjoy it more although hind sight is it might have made us feel better after all the great food we had eaten...the reason for sorbet! Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. Can't wait to return. Reasonably priced for excellent food and portions. Thanks for another great evening in Nuremberg Chef Michael.

Yelp
I had the braised beef roulade and warm cinnamon plum which were fantastic! For my first time with German food, I am extremely pleased!

Petra W.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with that place. The food is consistently delicious. A few times per year they host a chef's dinner. If you can get a reservation it is so worth every penny.

Beth B.

Yelp
Amazing food! Authentic. Quaint. Squeezed us in last minute. Staff was fabulous, personable and truly lovely. So lucky for us they had a no-show and accepted us right in.

Natasha E.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this restaurant. It was very authentic, I think we were the only Americans in the place. The food was some of the best I've ever had in the world. I still think of our meal. The quality of food in Germany is outstanding. Every dish we got was delicious. Our favorite was the dessert, the green apple sorbet was amazing. If I am ever in Nuremberg again, I will be there nightly, haha

Yelp
This is the best meal we've had in Germany so far. We tried a lot of Bavarian food around Munich area and this Fraconian style food appears to have more French influence (?) everything is delicious. We tried duck liver, sausage, roast pork shoulder and pork medallions. Came in at open without reservation and we were able to get in.

Calyx R.

Yelp
Beautiful décor in this traditional Franconian restaurant: the walls are covered either with Durer prints or with embroidery samplers. Just lovely in general outside. And waitresses in dirndl! A good selection of food and drinks, of course leaning towards the traditional side. I don't recommend the Frankische Rotwein, but hey, it's traditional. The dessert platter is also fabulous! Reservations suggested (but we got in without one). They take credit cards.

Dwayne C.

Yelp
The food was really good which explains the wait time, but the wait was worth it. I really don't think anyone can find a bad place to eat in Germany.

Ron R.

Yelp
Reservations are recommended. A traditional German restaurant in an historic area of town. Serving traditional fare to please the locals along with the tourists. Always a packed house - her there early to order the crispy pork shoulder and apple fritters.

Brian M.

Yelp
This is the best in Nuremberg for traditional German food. It is quite cozy and decorated in a very traditional way. When I visit Nuremberg, I have to come to Albrecht-Durer to have the Pork Shoulder and the Apple Fritters.

Pooline N.

Yelp
Simple typical table seating with a cosy atmosphere. Staff are friendly and efficient. We ordered the mixed entree platter to share as a starter. It was delicious with some lovely spiced meats and a little salad, perfect to share. For mains we had the Roasted crispy pork shoulder and venison stew. Both were delicious and hearty. The pork shoulder is roasted to near fall off bone tenderness and served with a delicious savory sauce. It definitely meets all expectations. The venison stew was perfect for the weather, super tender meat and a slightly sweet rich sauce. I thought the cranberry sauce served on side made it too sweet. Well worth a visit and prices are very reasonable for what is served.

Yelp
I had read the positive reviews here and other sites and wanted to have a wonderful dinner for our first night in Nuremberg, and they exceeded every expectation! I emailed to arrange for a reservation which is highly recommended- this place is packed, for good reason! I had the roast pork shoulder featured menu item, pumpkin soup starter and delicious warm plum cinnamon dessert. My husband loved everything as well! The staff was friendly and the atmosphere happy. The only less than stellar aspect of the evening as my seat - the two booth seats with two tables between meant that I had to sit in the walkway, which was awkward and inconvenient. When space opened and I attempted to move opposite my husband out of the aisle, they told me another party was coming and I could not. Why shouldn't the new couple be subjected to the same awkward seating? I will never know, but, the meal was delightful, the service good, and the neighborhood absolutely charming. Thank you for a memorable evening!

Yelp
If you are ever in Nuremberg, you absolutely must check out this authentic delightful restaurant. The food is absolutely scrumptious. Warm cozy atmosphere, with decor characteristic of the region, is complemented by excellent friendly service by staff dressed in traditional outfits. Do yourselves a favor and check it out!

Yelp
Awesome German food. Lots of room. Great for large parties. Famous for their pork shoulder but they have other options to. Fish and pasta. I had the pumpkin soup as a starter and it was out of this world.

Yelp
The Best! I have eaten at many truly authentic restaurants furring my time in Germany. This is the best of all I have experienced in the 5+ years in this wonderful country. I love the simple classic Nuremberg sausages with kraut. I can not wait for the next trip to this great city and I will ensure that I will make time to visit this wonderful restaurant.

Yelp
Was in the area for business during a COVID shutdown period. This place was recommended by a local. Was a little confused about what to order, but the lady taking my order was extremely friendly even though I only knew a limited amount of Deutsche. Menu was limited, but that was understandable due to shutdown. I chose the beef dish while my colleagues chose the pork shoulder. My rinderroulade mit kloß und blaukraut were awesome, I even tried a bit of the pork shoulder, which was also awesome. I look forward to another trip to Nuremberg to hopefully have another one of their great dishes.

Sepehr H.

Yelp
The most offensive experience I have ever had at a restaurant, I was denied to dine alone and abused by the restaurant manager. I was traveling alone for business and didn't know I should gather people on the street to get some food at this so called "high rated" place. There was definitely racial intentions behind the manager actions since they had many empty tables on a rainy midweek night.

Yelp
Albrecht-Durer-Stube was probably the best restaurant I ate at serving true Bavarian fare in Germany (Munich/Nuremberg). It is a small restaurant that serves both locals that have been patrons for years as well as a tourist or two. Located off the popular street close to the castle it is relatively easy to find. Once you get inside you find a warmth and aroma that puts you at ease and enables the inner Bavarian child inside of you to come out. Get a delicious beer and look at the menu. Goulash and Schweinebraten (traditional pork dish in the region) are safe bets and will undoubtedly be seen on other tables. You can't go wrong with either. They also have seasonal favorites and it was my luck that Goose was in season. My mom ordered the Schweinebraten and they both came with plenty of the best sauerkraut I've ever had (full of a sweet marinated flavor) and fresh traditional potato dumplings. There wasn't a complaint to be had with the restaurant, the service was friendly, the food exceptional, the beer cold and flavorful and the guests inside all German the night I visited. If I come back to Nurnberg, undoubtedly I'll be back to Albrecht-Durer-Stube.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant. Classic cuisine but they really care and everything is really good. The stewed plums were excellent as were the blood sausage. Great service. And very reasonably priced.

Connie B.

Yelp
Best meal at the best price we had in Germany. I tried to get in here my last 2 visits but never made an advanced reservation til today. Supper for 2 with drinks, soup, and the mixt desert platter was less then 50 euros. It's a very small dining room so be sure to make your reservation days ahead. And don't miss the crispy pork shoulder!

Curt C.

Yelp
Gotta agree with previous reviews. This place is great. Good value too. But it's not that big, and on the night we went every table was reserved. They agreed to serve us if we committed to be out in under an hour. We agreed, and service was LIGHTNING fast. Like they had to know what we were gonna order (although we did get the most popular dish--roast pork shoulder, and the special--roast duck). Both were delicious, as were the desserts. And nice ambiance in the place.

Markus L.

Yelp
Initially, we tried to get a dinner reservation for a Saturday night here, but had no luck - it was fully booked. We tried out luck again the next day and stopped by for lunch, when this place is less crowded. The staff was extremely friendly: willing to speak English and happy to accommodate the two small children in our group. Food was authentic regional Franconian cuisine. Not overly heavy or greasy, and very flavorful. Dishes are very reasonably priced. You can get a small main dish for as little as EUR 6.

Keith W.

Yelp
Incredible authentic German food and great beer as well! It's small and fills up quickly so make reservations. Their special version of the Nuremberg sausages in vinegar and the pork were amazing, highly recommend if you can get in!

Gavin C.

Yelp
Traditional Bavarian eatery - remember to book 1st and you'll not be disappointed. Fantastic local fayre, friendly knowledgeable staff & a warm atmosphere. A must for visitors to Nuremberg.

Polly B.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant, mostly full of locals, with a couple of other tourists. Felt typically German, the food was great, we had their pork shoulder which is their special and it was fantastic, very yummy. I don't drink beer but apparently that was good too. Extremely good value for money!

Zoe W.

Yelp
The roast pork shoulder is AMAZING - even for a non meat lover I swear it's truly the tastiest special they offer. Make sure you book in advance and are prepared for a 2 hour reservation. The franconian Apple wine is simply divine. An absolute must

Carl S.

Yelp
Well, I have been here several times and every time it was outstanding. Outstanding service, outstanding Schaeuffele, super Feldsalat and very good beer. Please try it. I will come back every time when in Nuernberg.

Tim W.

Yelp
Great authentic German food in a quaint setting. Prices very reasonable and next door to my hotel. Had the crispy pork shoulder with dumplings. Ended with a dessert sampler that was very good as well.

Matthew D.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Nuremberg! Crispy pork shoulder and Nuremberg sausages are the way to go (with a good Hefeweizen of course)

Kellie J.

Yelp
nice place, great location and good solid bavarian food. Nothing for your non meat or gluten free eaters. Comfort food, and a rustic touch. I might suggest reservations as the place gets very busy during special times of the year
