3 enchanting day trips in the south of London for the curious traveller - SilverKris

"An organic vineyard that pairs winemaking with experiential events, including a 'Spice Tales & Vine Trails' Sunday lunch that matches estate wines with spicy Indian dishes and offers activities like beekeeping demonstrations, wildlife walks and vineyard tours." - Demi Perera

First time trying English wines and I was pleasantly surprised by how good they were! We especially enjoyed the classic cuvee and the Vermouth. The guide was fantastic too, we learnt a lot about the history of wine in this country, the vineyard, the champenoise method. Highly recommend the cheese and wine tasting.

It was a wonderful experience picking grapes at Albury Vineyard this year. The instructions for pickers were clear and well-organised, and the team was very responsive to any enquiries. I really enjoyed harvesting alongside the other volunteers and the vineyard team. We were treated to delicious homemade mushroom soup, sausage rolls, and cakes — everything was so tasty that I had to try them all! After lunch, we finished the harvest and celebrated with a refreshing glass of rosé sparkling wine, bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours. What a great treat and a memorable day!

I have originally booked a tour last year, but due to personal circumstances, I had to postpone. The Albury team was really helpful and prompt to accomodate my needs and I received a voucher to use within the year. We went this July for a Vineyard Tour & Tasting and it was a great experience! The weather was on our side and the vineyard shined with beauty in every corner. The lady who accompanied us (I believe her name is Sarah) was very knowledgeable and full of interesting facts that stuck with me. We walked for a little bit, with stops here and there, tasted grapes and some wine and, towards the end, we sat at the table and tasted 3 different wines and talked about their history. The lady also showed us how to open a bottle using a saber! We were then welcome to stay after the tour and have a meal. Extra bonus was that pets are welcome and the shop on the site has a dog menu too. Overall, a really positive experience! I will definitely take my friends (and dog) for some cheese and charcuterie boards next time.

An excellent, informative visit. Our guide, Sarah, was knowledgeable and entertaining. A complete, enthusiastic, passionate ambassador for Albury and all things wine!! A thoroughly recommended visit. Great to sit and enjoy a plate of local charcuterie and English cheeses after the tour.

We visited the vineyard a couple of weekends ago for a wine and cheese tasting and were blown away with our incredible experience. I purchased a voucher online for my husband’s birthday which was sent to me immediately (thank you Lucy!) Once purchased, you’re given a code to use when booking your experience on their website which is very straightforward. A confirmation email is then sent to you a few days before your chosen date with useful details about your visit such as parking information so do look out for this (thank you Becky!) We were greeted by the lovely staff Alison, Tara and another young lady whose name I didn’t catch - but they were all so warm, welcoming and friendly. We arrived a little early which I’d recommend as you can have a walk around the vines, taking the self guided tour, order a drink at the bar and take in the beautiful views of the vines in the beautiful and comfortable seating area. George was our host for the wine and cheese tasting and he was absolutely brilliant! He’s so passionate and knowledgeable and talked us through the whole process of winemaking which we found utterly fascinating. We also got to learn about the history of this organic vineyard and how the family started the business which was very enjoyable. George’s friendly approach to the tasting was highly appreciated and made the whole experience very fun and interesting. I would have to say it’s suitable for both wine connoisseurs and beginner enthusiasts alike. The wine itself is sensational and the quality speaks for itself. But it’s also great to be able to support the flourishing British wine industry rather than simply buying a bottle of Champagne! We hope more local bars and restaurants will soon start offering wider selections of British wine too. We are so very lucky to have such an amazing business with an exciting future on our doorstep in Surrey, so I highly recommended you pay them a visit and support this thriving, family business. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Thank you to all of the Albury Vineyard staff for such a wonderful day (my husband was very impressed with his birthday present!) we shall be back again soon with our family and friends to taste some more of your delicious wine. Best wishes for your continued success, Clare and Geoff xx

I can’t even begin to explain how amazing Albury Vineyard is. I held my work summer party here for 32 guests and it was so magical. It was a beautiful day which started off with a welcome glass of sparkling wine and stone baked pizza. Following this we had a perfect tour of the vineyard which was both interesting and beautiful. Who doesn’t want to drink wine whilst walking around the most stunning fields? This was then followed by wine tasting in a tent in the fields. The lady who did our tour (I apologise as I cannot remember your name) was just incredible. She was so kind and funny and knew exactly how to run a work event. She even sliced the top of the bottle off with a knife!! I have to give special thanks to Becky who was the true driving force of this whole event. She was there answering my non stop questions as trying to plan a work event can be a logistical nightmare at times. She was kind, thoughtful and patient with me whilst I planned the day. She was great when the day was in full swing. Regularly checking that everything was as perfect as we wanted it and was very accommodating when things needed to be changed. The day was perfect and it left everyone smiling. Without a doubt the best party we have ever had. Thank you Albury Vineyard I’m sure we will be back again! Sascha

Lovely little vineyard. Really enjoyed our wine&cheese tasting, led by lovely and knowledgeable Shaun. Also recommend to take a walk through the vineyards.

Beautiful landscape, so amazing to drink wine and eat cheese amongst the vines - knowing the grapes are the same as in the delicious wine you’re drinking. Made all the better by staff who look after you so attentively.
