Alcala Motel

Great location and service. But due for a room refurb. The stairs to the top level of the split level rooms aren't suitable for kids under 7 I would say (dodgy design). Old school blanket slips etc. Cheap price though, can't beat the price for a family of 5.

Extremely noisy location, especially on a Saturday night but room was fine. Service was great, bed comfortable. I wouldn't recommend staying here with very little kids as the stairs are a bit of a death trap but for our teenagers fine. Great location to uni, stadium and food.

Where do I start. Stayed here years ago, remembering it was dated but comfortable. On arrival we were escorted to our room, unusual I know, room was clean, but cold. Heater kinda worked, so was an early to bed to keep warm, bed was incredibly hard. Shower.... Hot is cold, and cold is hot, water flow is a dribble, height of head was fixed to wall and suitable for a 5ft person, we are both 6ft+ and the water hit our chests, not ideal to wash hair and rinse off with. Lounge chairs are vinyl covered and very uncomfortable. This is last time we stop here. Sorry won't be back again.

Fantastic sized rooms, kids loved the upstairs room. I loved to reception man/owner asking if I’d like a newspaper in the morning, first time I had a newspaper and coffee in the morning for years!! Rooms dated, straight outa the 70’s but who cares! Amazing price and clean rooms. Everything you need, great location… we will be back!

This is our go to Motel when in Dunedin. On our most recent stay I had booked the wrong room type online however the staff were extremely accommodating and changed our room without charging extra for the larger room, despite the Motel being fully booked. The manager noticed we had a bottle of champers and offered to bring champagne flutes. The rooms have been upgraded since our last stay and we have peace of mind knowing the rooms and beds are spotlessly clean and well quiet from road noise. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, the rooms are extremely spacious and well equipped. Location is hard to beat, Otago Uni campus, Botanical Gardens, George St shopping and cafes all 5mins walk and a 24 hour superette across the road which has a bakery and hot food. Another bonus is if you are using the airport shuttle.. Alcala motel seems to be well positioned to be one of the first for drop offs and last for pickups. Highly recommend this motel.

This motel has a great location, not being on one of the principal traffic arteries but within walking distance of the city centre. It has a good car park - especially important since a number of attractions are on the peninsula and personal transport is a must.|My studio room was large and even had dividing dors between the kitchen and living areas. It was good to have hot plates as well as a microwave.|The guest laundry was free. The staff were efficient and friendly.|Highly recommended.

This is not a three star hotel, maybe two, and that’s being generous.

Very comfortable place nice and warm beautiful view. Good service ❤️❤️
