Alcala Motel

Really big suite with an additional two single beds on the mezzanine floor. Had everything we needed including a small kitchen. Location was great for local restaurants and Emerson brewery which we visited on both nights. The main CBD is an easy walk along George Street. Would definitely recommend this motel.

The Alcala Motel is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it if you’re heading to Dunedin for any length of time. Sure, the rooms are a little dated, but that’s reflected in the price - and they are warm and comfortable with everything you will need. You get an incredibly comfortable bed, a fully stocked kitchen, a quiet and convenient location (with a 24 hour Night and Day store just across the road), and amazing service with little extras like a morning newspaper (complimentary!) and laundry facilities. I was worried it might be a little noisy as it was on a Main Street but that wasn’t an issue. Gary and the team are absolutely lovely and the service is amazing. Honestly, it was a lovely place to stay and I will be back next time I’m in Dunedin.

It's a 5-6 minute walk from the city center. There's a convenience store across the road. The room is very clean and the facilities are very professional. It's a unique and professional hotel.

A quiet hotel in a lively area, located just a 10-minute walk from the city center. Surrounded by halal restaurants, the suites are spacious and equipped with all daily necessities. We stayed there for one night on our way to Christchurch.

Great location and service. But due for a room refurb. The stairs to the top level of the split level rooms aren't suitable for kids under 7 I would say (dodgy design). Old school blanket slips etc. Cheap price though, can't beat the price for a family of 5.

cool rooms, can smoke on the deck, flexible and accommodating staff. as far as 3 start places this is a 5 star 3 star

Fantastic sized rooms, kids loved the upstairs room. I loved to reception man/owner asking if I’d like a newspaper in the morning, first time I had a newspaper and coffee in the morning for years!! Rooms dated, straight outa the 70’s but who cares! Amazing price and clean rooms. Everything you need, great location… we will be back!

Extremely noisy location, especially on a Saturday night but room was fine. Service was great, bed comfortable. I wouldn't recommend staying here with very little kids as the stairs are a bit of a death trap but for our teenagers fine. Great location to uni, stadium and food.
