Never got the chance to enter. I was there for their Fiesta patronales and it was great! The building is very beautiful. It has the striking architecture and charm from the past that I love. I was also surprised that as you walk through the center is open air under the stars.

Beautiful building to stop for photos. Pass by and see for yourself. It's the Mayor's building were he work's at with his staff. We visited it for the buildings architect beauty. Your allowed to take photos of the few things they have inside about some history. The court yard is nice place to take a few more photos. Ponce also known as La Perla del Sur has great historical to Puerto Rico in that it's the second municipality and yet the largest. If you enjoy about PR culture, I would recommend to Google that information on line about this building.

We didn’t intend to visit the alcaldía but accidentally parked on the government parking zone(8-6pm) on the buildings side of the street. The officer kindly asked us to move our vehicle and suggested other areas to park around the parque. My youngest son needed the restroom and with out us asking they let him use the public toilets inside. I was very surprised to see them being so helpful and kind, this building is for the people and they made us feel welcome. Thank you to those who serve the people of Puerto Rico. The architecture was very nice

We entered to have a look around, asked a couple of touristy questions about the statues in the square, but we're taken aback by the warm greeting of everyone inside as we were shunted attentively from person to person. Finally, the local tourist guide Answered our question on the provenance of the statuary. The courtyard filled with Puerto Rican potted palms, black and white chequered tile floor is gorgeous to behold. Casa Alcadia interior is definitely a must see.

Construction of the building started in 1844 and was completed in 1847. Engineering and architectural design for the building was directed by Francisco Gil Capó under the oversight of Mayor Salvador de Vives. The facade is said to be constructed of "simple but elegant lines. Its large front facade clock was acquired in England in 1877 at the time the city was given its city charter by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The interior has two courtyards designed in the typical architecture of the time and a spacious stairway leads to the main hall of the Municipal Legislature and the office of the mayor. Inside there's a spiral stairway and depending on the day you may even run into the mayor she's a great lady thats been trying her best to keep the wheels turning on the city.

Ponce looks neglected. Grass super high by the highway, PONCE signs off, the downtown looks deteriorated. Paseo La Guancha still close. Lots of potholes everywhere. Very disappointing!
