"The idyllic Menorcan countryside is the setting for Alcaufar Vell, a medieval fortification that found a second life as a stately Neoclassical villa, and now a third life as a small and luxurious rural boutique hotel. 21 rooms occupy the old house and its refurbished stables, and the latter structure is also home to the hotel’s restaurant, a single kitchen serving everything from a rustic-luxe breakfast to an impeccably composed dinner in the garden, under the stars. The beach at Cala Alcaufar is close by, and the estate is perfectly positioned for exploration on foot or by bicycle." - Tablet Hotels

An impressive fortified Manor House which has been beautifully restored with many original features and antiquities. A peaceful garden with very clean swimming pool and extensive grounds extending down to the coast by paths [ map at reception] .| Meals served in garden or courtyard . Half board menu was large enough for a varied choice for our 4 night stay. Food was excellent and house wines good . Service mostly excellent with some variation with staffing levels/ customer numbers ratio. The environs are so pleasant that at times of slower service it didn’t feel a nuisance . Staff were mostly young and friendly with good language skills. | A spacious relaxed and tranquil place which you share with the occasional wild Hermans tortoise .

Had my wedding here in September 2024 and had the best experience. We stayed with our wedding party for 3 nights and the team were beyond helpful during the wedding day and made it special. Thanks to Barbara who helped coordinate everything fantastically and to the rest of the team. The venue itself is stunning and we stayed in a beautiful room at the top of the main house which was perfect. They also have multiple spaces to choose from to get married in and a gorgeous room for the bridal and grooms party to get ready. The food and drinks were great and the setup was amazing. Would truly recommend a Menorcan wedding here - one to remember!! Thanks again to all the team.

We had an amazing dinner at the restaurant on a big table underneath the trees. Food is great, tasty and pretty unique. Prices are decent for the surroundings and food quality. The staff was amazing helping prepare a special announcement to the family!

A beautiful old building on the island that has been well preserved while offering modern comforts (there’s even an elevator in the main building). - Our room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and the environment was peaceful and quiet—exactly what we were looking for. - The team and staff were very friendly. - The only downside was the breakfast, which was quite slow and had limited options (though this might have been due to the fact that we stayed right at the beginning of the season). For the pan con tomate, they give you the tomatoes in one bowl, garlic in another, and you have to prepare it yourself… No cold cuts or fruit salad were offered, and the bread was rather average. Dinner was good, and we had their sandwich picnic option twice—it was delicious. Overall, we do recommend the place.

This place is more beautiful than the photos. We were considering a few places in mahon but ended up staying here and we were so glad we did. Literally perfect for the price and is absolute paradise on a farm. Cute donkeys, birds and a cat.

Lovely luxurious rural hotel with very nice staff. We stayed for 3 nights near the beginning of the season. The house and grounds are beautiful- an old Manor House that has been tastefully modernised with lovely outdoor seating and pool (unheated so cold in April!). Breakfast was very good but dinner in the restaurant was a little disappointing. The food and presentation was good but served on cold plates so not very hot which was a shame. It is a lovely place to stay.

A perfect place to stay for 4 days. The hotel is a remarkable old house, full of historical character but where everything works. Our room (a top floor suite to sleep three) was spacious, comfortable, quiet, and with a beautiful terrace. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. The excellent restaurant served fantastic breakfasts and great dinners. Their huge garden has plenty of rural pathways to explore, including one that joins with the Cami de Cavalls, and takes you to the sea at Alcaufar. Set in the middle of farmland, yet it's close enough to get to the centre of Mao in 15 minutes, and to sandy beaches in less than 5 minutes. Great pool too. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
