"Nestled in the heart of the medieval Malá Strana district, just a few short blocks to the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle, the opulent Hotel Alchymist resides within four historic homes—the oldest from the 16th century—that were once connected by underground tunnels. But there’s nothing primitive about the property, whose nameis a reference to Prague’s 17th-century reputation as the capital of the dark arts. The hotel flaunts its Baroque pedigree in rooms embellished with gilt-framed mirrors, silk damask fabrics, plush four-poster beds, and loads of antiques and art. Guests have free use of the health club—fittingly located in a cellar where a crystal chandelier hangs over a mosaic-tiled plunge pool and an antique Chinese bed graces the relaxation area—but there’s also a spa and sauna for more targeted pampering. The Aquarius restaurant serves first-rate Italian fare (and a breakfast buffet in the morning), but to start dinner on the right note, head to the lobby bar for the complimentary wine and cheese tasting each evening."

The majority of the staff seemed to have a bad attitude which was disappointing considering it’s a five star. This is the worst five star I’ve stayed at. We found it really lacking in customer service and is not reflective of the money we spent. On the first night our sheets were dirty on arrival so had to request them to be changed. The member of staff on the wine and cheese on the first night was pretty awful - almost like he didn’t want to be there and serve us, not even a smile. We then had to change rooms due to the level of noise - we could hear another room loudly having sex for an hour and a lot of noise outside. The night staff tried their best and did move us to another room which was a lot better but still pretty noisy from outside noise, and no apology from the reception staff in the morning (just more attitude) and no effort to fix it with us. We considered moving hotels due to the attitude and the noise. I’m currently pregnant and I wanted a relaxing few days away and I have come home not at all rested and a bad taste in my mouth. Really was a pretty rubbish new year trip. I wouldn’t book again. Extremely disappointing. ||Oh and a side note - the advertised wine and cheese hour is actually only half an hour starting at 4:30pm. However it was still a pleasant touch. |The nightly chocolates also a nice touch.

The hotel exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived late at night, when greeted by 2 lovely young male staff who made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and they organised food and prosseco for us. We had booked cosy rooms and they were delightful beautifully decorated with plenty of space and storage. All the staff were amazing throughout our stay and the little touches made a difference. I would definitely recommend and have already to a couple of my friends.|Great location and easy to get around Prague from here.

We stayed here 10 years ago and decided that, as we needed a few days of luxury, to go back. Almost nothing had changed in that time. The hotel is still quintessentially elegant with fabulous staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and are unfailingly both friendly and very helpful dealing with every request promptly. The hotel is in a superb location, down a secluded and quiet cul de sac, very secure because of the constant police presence due to the nearby American Embassy, and yet only a few minutes walk to the castle or Charles Bridge taking you to the city centre. They very kindly upgraded our room and we had fabulous views over the city. Prague is a wonderful city for a short city break. The highlight of our stay was a night at the Opera House, absolutely superb production of La Boheme. To eat out try the nearby U Glaubicu, fantastic atmosphere, great choice of food and very good value.

I had a fantastic massage experience at the hotel, and I want to give special thanks to Michael for his outstanding service. He was professional, attentive, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the session. His technique was excellent, and I left feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. I highly recommend booking a massage with Michael if you’re looking for a truly relaxing experience!

My wife and I stayed at the Alchymist Grand Hotel for five nights in early October, 2024. What a wonderful experience! The staff was so friendly and helpful. We had the Terrace Junior Suites. We loved the opulent decor throughout the hotel and the dining room. We really enjoyed the patio area. The location is a short wall from the Charles Bridge and many attractions. The hotel is in a very safe area near the US Embassy. We felt perfectly safe walking the neighborhood streets at night. Prague is such a beautiful city to visit. The breakfast buffet was an absolute treat each morning.

Absolutely amazing. |No other way to put it. |We were greeted by the doorman while getting our luggage out of our Uber, after an incredibly long and frustrating day of travel. |He quickly escorted us in to the reservation desk. |No, not to stand in line at the check in counter! To the desk, where you sit down and have a glass of Prosecco while they confirm your details. |Maybe the norm at luxury hotels, but not what we are used to. ||The property is amazing, originally built in the 1500’s, lots of amazing art, outdoor gardens and sitting areas. ||Quickly taken to our room, smallish by US standards but huge for an EU property! |Bathroom has a full size sitting tub, which the wife quickly claimed. |Later we enjoyed cheese and wine at the complementary gathering. |Came back after dinner for a glass of wine and chocolate in their outdoor restaurant. ||We booked spa appointments the following morning ,charming area and a great massage. ||Only stayed two nights, wish we had more time. |Worth the money, book it!!!

Amazing place to stay especially over Christmas. Breakfast room service was delicious on Christmas morning. Room was beautifully decorated with a Christmas tree. Free daily cheese and wine tasting was lovely. Highly recommend.

The hotel did not have air conditioning in the rooms. Although it is October, I wanted to relax and catch up on sleep in a dark air-conditioned room. Instead, I slept with an open window and was woken up during the night by the construction workers (in the nearby building) in the morning and by the clock tower that kept on tolling every hour. This was extremely disappointing. The hotel said that the air conditioning was turned off to save on electricity costs - this is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel that charges high rates for every night stay. My request to turn air conditioning on was denied and the staff explained that it’s the policy. ||Although the hotel is beautiful and the breakfast was delicious - I did not rest well and did not get enough sleep.
