We stopped here as a last hope for a meal before heading towards our destination. I am so glad we did. They make everything in house, all the syrups, bitters, everything. We had some of the non alcoholic sodas and they were delicious!!! I had the smoked salmon salad - highly recommend! The salmon was perfect and the size was just right for our lunch. Our server was Sandy and she was very friendly and attentive. The decor is artsy. Definitely recommend!!

Came to Alpine for the weekend and came across Alcove Social. We ordered the flat iron cheeseburger, I added avocado and bacon to mine. With sweet potato waffle fries. Let me tell you when the burger and fries was perfectly cooked and the taste was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Are waitress was super sweet and made great recommendations for drink and food. To drink we had the Ranch Hand Old Fashioned, Spicy margarita and a Devils margarita, super delicious. Definitely a must recommended place in Alpine.

Atmosphere: Stepping into the establishment, the music selection definitely set the tone and was just loud enough to enjoy but still able to communicate. I enjoyed all the decor as well as all the murals/artwork that was shown throughout the establishment. Service: The service was impeccable, from being greeted when entering the establishment to the moments that the server answering all the questions regarding menu items and recommendations. The presentation of the food was a plus as well. Quality: Everything that I had was very good and some flavors I have never experienced in a good way. Starting with drinks, one can never go wrong with an espresso martini and from the manager saying they make their own cold brew, made the drink that much better. Another drink that stood out the most was the Carajillo, I have never had one but the drink was full of flavor and the Mexican chocolate ice cubes were a great touch. The Flat Iron burger was so good that I finished it prior to eating the waffle fries. Fili's Fave: What stood out for me was the passion that the owner/manager had for the establishment and the appreciation for staff that provided so much attention to detail when crafting the cocktails and meals.

Very enjoyable place with an eclectic menu and great staff. Kudos to Julianna and staff for being open every day through Christmas! Sandy is awesome at the bar. They were slammed at times, short staffed at times, patience was rewarded with great cocktails and excellent food. Dinner and a show was had by all, at the bar anyway. I recommend and will return.

Very much enjoyed our stop at the Alcove. We sat outside on the back patio which was dog friendly. The drinks are to die for, and a bit dangerous. The wrangler is just a perfect drink.

I don’t know why the high stars for this place. My family and I left and got sick afterwards. I could have went to a nice restraunt with my family for $320. We had appetizer of loaded fries ($20)- basically just hamburger meat and cheese, any add ons and it cost several more dollars. The $40 steak frites was almost inedible with all the gristle. Every other meal was at least $20+. $11 for a TINY slice of chocolate cake. Each drink cost more and more money it’s not refillable. My husbad had 5 beers or so and I have no clue how much they were but must have been outrageous. We had various other menu items for my other kids and the bill was $320!!! That’s crazy. The waitress was fine, no issues with her. No kids menu or at least it wasn’t offered to us.

Staying in Marfa and wanted to visit Alpine for lunch. We both had the Stargazer burger which was amazing! Also tried the house made vanilla soda, equally delicious! The service was really friendly and the atmosphere inviting. Definitely recommend while visiting Alp[ine, or just passing through.

The food was as amazing as our service, special thanks to Eero!!! We were worried we wouldn’t find anywhere open on a Sunday, but so glad we found the Alcove Social. Everyone was able to find something for their preference. Diablo loaded fries with truly amazing locally sourced beef brisket, single or double patty flat iron cheese burger, and for a simpler take a triple grilled cheese sandwich. Highly recommend if you’re passing through, you won’t be disappointed!

The food is so good. They have so much flavor in everything that you order. You don't expect to find a place this great in such a small town, but they are amazing. The staff are great and very helpful and keep it fun. We could have eaten there everyday, but wanted to try different places too. Give it a try. It's a great fun place to relax after a long day or hiking or enjoying the town.

We were disappointed to discover that the bar in the Holland Hotel was closed for renovation. We are here for a week in our motorhome at the Lost Alaskan campground, which is also a great place. After a little research, we decided to try the Alcove Social. I'm glad we did. It's a comfortable place and the bartender welcomed us as we walked through the door. I noticed that she welcomed everyone as they walked in. As I said, it is a comfortable and welcoming place with a better than decent bar. We sat at the bar and had a hand-made margarita with all fresh, in-house made ingredients. Bartender asked what tequila we preferred. They use fresh squeezed lime juice and in-house made triple sec. The rita was delicious. One of the best I have had. The young lady tending bar was very social, considerate, and knowledgeable. I cannot recall her name, but she hails from Nebraska and her Great Plains upbringing shines. The whole thing was so enjoyable that we will be back in a day or two for another rita and will try the food. They also have live music on weekends. Looking forward to returning. EDIT: Returned on August 2nd to listen to music and eat. Neon Leon was the performer. He is a Texas Singer/Songwriter of sorts who plays both electric and acoustic guitar (with a pickup). He was really enjoyable and had quite a repertoire including some very good songs he wrote. Just him and his guitar and that is all that was needed. Several locals were there listening and providing some great conversation. This is a great place. We tried shrimp on pita bread and it was flavorful and delicious. The menu is simple and food is well presented.

Delicious burgers and yummy cocktails! While a little pricey for a burger, it was really good and we were happy to find something open on Christmas evening. Cool spot! Service was friendly and helpful. Very casual and comfortable!

This place is great, and it captures the soul of west Texas and the Chihuahuan Desert in ways that are honest, audacious and delicious. Let's start with the vibe. A dude in a Stetson belting out George Strait. This is great ambience, and honest in a way that Marfa is now too self conscious to do. The food is very good. It could take a step up, but it's already good; a few small improvements and accents could put them in James Beard territory (if they even cared - there's a "too cool for pretention" vibe that honestly makes the messy burger that much better). But the cocktails is where this place shines, and where their love and craft really come through. There are many good options, but the one that deserves awards is the Corn Fed Cowboy, a boozy homage to elote that features sweet cream washed Balcones baby blue whisky and Nixta corn liquor. It is hands down the best cocktail I've had in ages. It's a home run for flavor, atmosphere, place. Just amazing. Servers? They're busy, they were short staffed both nights i was there. But still good people and very kind. Forget Marfa. Alpine is the place to go for genuine folks who take real care in their craft (Ritchey is new but also very good, so is Reata, the more old school steakhouse). Alcove deserves a visit.

They were sold out of everything on the menu except burgers and shrimp. When the food came, turns out they only had pickles for the burgers. Our total for three burgers dry on the bun and one adult beverage? Over $80... never again. Waitstaff/bartender was helpful and polite.

The drinks are overpriced, I have been double charged here twice, and the interior hasn't been updated since it was the Saddle Club. The name tries to give the illusion of metro-elegance but it is just city-priced without the quality. The owner is a grifter who fundraises for projects that he then makes money off of, the whole thing is a crying shame.

It's not a terrible place - there are VERY few options on Monday evenings, and our son was celebrating a birthday, leaving on the train at 9pm. He requested "good burgers." I LOVE Bock Burgers, but it was chilly outside, and so we had had a good experience here before - I got the shrimp tacos, and my daughter got the diablo fries. I wish we had done that again. She and I shared the Stargazer Burger - SUPER $$$$ for not much food. We were both hungry after. The men all got the same thing - the flat iron burger, add bacon and cheese, with a side of waffle fries which is another $7 a pop. My gosh. The fries were good. But the burger patties are extremely thin, dry, and tasteless. The atmosphere and wait staff are friendly and attentive - the paper plates and plastic disposable cups are understandable. This is probably a fun place to get drinks and appetizers, but I wish we had gone to Bock Burger. We spent $120+ for 4 thin dry burgers - and ended up getting diablo fries just to try and make sure no one got on the train hungry. Went to the grocery store afterwards to add more snacks to the traveler. Kudos to the young waiter who kept his cool when angry hungry customers are super displeased with teensy burgers for $18.

After hearing what a great burger they served, I was disappointed. 1/5lb meat at best. Everything else was on point but when the meat is light the burger leave much to be desired. Especially when all is very pricy. Pass.

1) waiter was really exceptional. Legit diamond in the rough 2) food was super good. I had "hippita" was planning on pita plus separate toppings. They served it piled on so high is IMPOSSIBLE to eat. Great flavors though; I ate like a salad with pita pusher 3) good selection of beers. My boy loved his Italian cream soda.

Staying in alpine for a few days and stumbled upon the Alcove Social. Came in and enjoyed my visit. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Ordered a smash burger and a side of waffle fries. Wasn't expecting much due to other food experiences I've had in town but was very pleasantly surprised. The smash burger was perfectly cooked., Juicy and very flavorful. The fries were perfectly fried also. I was impressed. As I started eating, Christian the cook came out to the bar and asked how it all tasted. That's something I also haven't seen yet in Alpine. A cook who cares and has pride in his work. If you are second guessing coming in, please come check it out for yourself. We need places like this to continue existing. 6 starts if possible. Cool vibe and decor! God bless good establishments!

The food was outstanding. There were four of us and we were all more than satisfied. The spicy prickly pear margarita was so delicious. The service was great and very friendly. I'll go there again in a couple of days to try more of their menu items.

While the place was mostly empty, the food and drinks were amazing. The live music was on point that really set the mood. The burgers are stacked full and so tasty, so much flavor. We got the waffle fries and the 2 sauces were so delicious. Definitely will be coming back again.

Amazing bartenders and great food. The burger, caprese salad, hummus &chips. Fresh ingredients. The cocktails are good and they have seasonal menu. All are great! Highly recommend coming here.

Waited for an hour for my 15 dollar cheeseburger. Ain't nobody got time for that. Extremely noisy place with a very limited menu and high prices.

Glad to be the first to post a review. I haven't posted one in years. Great bar. Good drinks. Casual atmosphere. Awesome service. Would come again!

After a long day at Big Bend, we needed a meal and a drink and were so pleasantly surprised by how great the food here was. I will dream about that burger for years. Do stop by; you'll be very happy you did. It was vegetarian friendly, and the service was kind and attentive, even during a bit of a rush.
