"What do amenities mean in the age of the millennial traveler? At the stylish yet understated Alda Hotel, guests receive a complimentary Android phone that’s preloaded with apps to help you explore the city, from the hottest new restaurants to the best shops for Icelandic wool. If your beard needs a trim, a barbershop is connected to the hotel by way of the Barber Bar, so clients can settle into the chair, craft cocktail in-hand. Rooms are sleek and spare, in Nordic hues of gray and white with an occasional splash of color; all bathrooms have contemporary walk-in showers, while upgraded rooms also feature large soaking tubs. Rooms on the third floor enjoy views to the mountains and North Atlantic, while those on the fourth floor have access to a rooftop terrace with city, mountains, and ocean vistas. The Alda is just a few minutes’ walk to downtown (including the pickup spot for most tours) and to the seafront; at the end of the day, the outdoor hot tub is a perfect way to relax and inhale the clean Icelandic air."

We were so pleased we picked this hotel in Reykjavik. It was very well located on the main street and close to bus stop 9 for the airport Flybus and tour pick ups. We were able to walk everywhere in town without having to use expensive taxis. There was a decent size supermarket almost opposite and a handy Starbucks off reception. We didn't know until checkout that our room key would have got us a discount in there. |The room was super cosy and well decorated. We were able to go out on the balcony and see the northern lights in our dressing gowns which was an extra bonus (although note the balcony was shared among all the rooms on the top floor). Lovely bathroom too with huge shower and L'Occitane toiletries although we noted no moisturiser, shower caps or other bathroom amenities. The breakfast was a real highlight - beautiful fresh selection of lots of lovely things. The fresh sourdough bread was absolutely to die for. Really good coffee too. Handy water machine in reception for filling bottles with delicious Icelandic water.|Our only real criticism was that the beds were quite poor. Lumpy hard mattresses didn't do our backs any good. These could really do with an upgrade.

Being a bit harsh here. The staff were lovely at reception, bar and the cleaning team. The food and drinks were good. The rooms are very clean but small though and the "gym" was a bit generous in name. The showers were amazing, which is a must for me. But overall our stay was made lovely by the staff! The location also is amazing and having a Starbucks on site was great! Thank you!

I am honestly shocked this hotel is rated as a 4-star property, because the experience was nowhere near that level. From the moment we arrived, it was disappointing. There is nowhere to pull up and unload your bags the street is a narrow one-way with barely any space to stop. There’s no parking lot, so you to walk about 7 minutes to an overnight parking lot just to leave your car which would be fine if they had people helping with bags. When we checked in, no one offered to help with our luggage. They actually don’t have staff for that at all for this which is surprising and inconvenient for a “4-star” hotel. The front desk wasn’t friendly, and the overall welcome felt cold and unaccommodating. The room itself was average and extremely small, definitely not what you’d expect for the price point. To make things worse, at checkout right in the morning they immediately denied my check-out, telling me the housekeeping supervisor denied any late checkout today, something I’ve personally never experienced at any hotel. The attitude from staff was dismissive. The only positive is the location, but there are plenty of other hotels in Reykjavik with great locations and far better service. We stayed in several during our trip to Iceland, and I would recommend others. Overall, this property seriously needs to reevaluate what it means to operate at a 4-star level.

My wife and I just returned from a 3 night stay here. Everything about this hotel was just right. We arrived very early from our over night flight, and our room was ready. They do charge a small early access fee, but definitely worth it. Very clean room with no smells of air fresheners, etc. ||The employees were all very helpful and pleasant. They also provide you with a complimentary cell phone to use while you are there. Our personal phone would not work in Iceland. ||There is a very nice bar/restaurant located in the hotel which we chose to eat at two different nights. There is also a new Starbucks located in the hotel—one of only 2 Starbucks in Iceland. ||Location is a short walk from bus stop #9. The fly bus will get you there from the airport. There many restaurants and shops located around the hotel. ||Before we traveled, I researched reviews of many hotels and chose this one. I know I made the right choice. We had a King room with a sofa.

Location is PERFECT! Service couldn’t be topped. A super warm welcome by the wonderful reception team. Rooms are the perfect size for a city break. We were lucky enough to experience the northern lights right from the balcony. A memory that will stay with us for a long time. Thank you, for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend, and when we return at some point in the future, we will for sure use this hotel again! ❤️

An excellent hotel. The rooms were clean and the shower was good. It had a free water filter so you could top up with fresh water for the day. The breakfast (particularly the scrambled eggs, danish pastries and skyr yoghurt) was very nice too. The staff were friendly and professional. It also comes equipped with a barber, restaurant and a Starbucks. The biggest selling point is that it was right in the centre of Reykjavik, so it is not far from the main sights, shops and the bus stop (No 9 Snorrabraut). I would choose this hotel if I was coming back to Reykjavik.

This place is fabulous!|We booked 2 rooms, one for our son and one for us and our daughter. The rooms were very clean and warm.|There was a card and chocolate in my sons room for his birthday, a nice touch.|The hotel was lovely in a fabulous location.|The staff were extremely helpful. For example, I was confused by a tour booking I’d made, they phoned the operator up and clarified it for me. They booked taxis for us too.|We ate in the hotel restaurant and it was lovely and reasonably priced too.|We used the gym and hot tub, just what was needed.|We had an evening drink in the bar, and just before they were closing the young barman came to us to check if we wanted another drink before they closed..his manners were impeccable.|We stored our luggage in a locked room whilst we waited for our evening flight.|If we come to Iceland again we will definitely stay at this hotel.|Thank you to all your friendly and professional staff.|Harrison Family.

We traveled with Jet2 from the uk and chose this central hotel after reading the reviews. We had a wonderful room and enjoyed the breakfast service. A lovely token was left in our room too. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
