"What do amenities mean in the age of the millennial traveler? At the stylish yet understated Alda Hotel, guests receive a complimentary Android phone that’s preloaded with apps to help you explore the city, from the hottest new restaurants to the best shops for Icelandic wool. If your beard needs a trim, a barbershop is connected to the hotel by way of the Barber Bar, so clients can settle into the chair, craft cocktail in-hand. Rooms are sleek and spare, in Nordic hues of gray and white with an occasional splash of color; all bathrooms have contemporary walk-in showers, while upgraded rooms also feature large soaking tubs. Rooms on the third floor enjoy views to the mountains and North Atlantic, while those on the fourth floor have access to a rooftop terrace with city, mountains, and ocean vistas. The Alda is just a few minutes’ walk to downtown (including the pickup spot for most tours) and to the seafront; at the end of the day, the outdoor hot tub is a perfect way to relax and inhale the clean Icelandic air."

We enjoyed our 5 night stay. The hotel’s location at the quieter end of Laugavegur is close to restaurants, bars, shopping, tourist attractions and the local bus stop where you can get picked up by the various tour groups. We stayed in a double deluxe King with balcony which was clean and spacious but lacked any type of storage for clothing. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet-a good healthy selection of tasty breakfast items and everything was fresh. The staff worked very hard and quickly to replenish the food dishes. The use of a mobile phone with helpful apps was much appreciated.

We really just had the best experience here! Which was great because we stayed for three nights. This location could not beat. We were able to walk everywhere! There is a cheap parking garage about a block and a half away. Which we found to be very, very convenient. The hotel staff was super friendly, and very accommodating. They have a great breakfast buffet in the morning, too! Our only real complaint is that our room was in the front of the building, and on Saturday and Sunday night It was loud until about 3 AM outside. You can hear every conversation going on. The tattoo parlor across the street also blasts music during the day time hours. The room gets pretty hot, so you really have to leave the windows open. Other than that, we loved it. The room was clean, spacious and exactly what we needed. Cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Perfect place right in the heart of walkable City Center. We were upgraded to the balcony rooms and what a spectacular view of Reykjavik. They even give you a cell phone to use! Great breakfast! The Old Iceland Restaurant is right next door. Don't miss this restaurant!

The location is fantastic and dipping into the hot tub after a day ilif exploring Iceland is a great way to end the day. The staff were fabulous, everyone helped to make our holiday perfect! I only wish that I could come back and stay sooner ☺️

We were very happy with this hotel. On one of the main streets in Reykjavik, close walking distance to the waterfront, all the shops and restaurants, rainbow street and Halgrimmskirkja. Our room was HUGE, with a desk, window and glass door to a shared roof patio. View of bay, city and mountains. The king-size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also HUGE with a big walk-in shower, comfy large towels, plenty of counter space and wonderful smelling L'occitane products. Robes and slippers to wear down to the sauna, gym and outdoor whirlpool. Lovely soaking in the hot water in the cold air. Breakfast is in a sunny room and is a full Nordic breakfast with juice shots, cold cuts, hot foods, Icelandic skyr & toppings. Delicious fuel for a day of sightseeing. Front desk staff always cheerful and helpful.

Great hotel tucked in the heart of tourist Reykjavik. Centrally located and helpful staff with suggestions or guidance. Service was amazing and the staff were so helpful. There's a breakfast buffet in the morning with a great variety of foods that will set you up nicely for your day ahead. Rooms are moderately sized with basic amenities. There's a desk and chair in one corner by the bed and a nightstand in the other. Hanging wardrobe space is included. The restroom is a bit small and cramped, but it does provide enough room to do what is needed when the shower is folded inwards. They offer a gym, spa/sauna, and a hot tub for guests as well.

A beautiful and warm stay at the end of our Iceland trip! Alda Hotel is perfectly located along a charming shopping street in Reykjavik. Our room was incredibly spacious with a cute little balcony that made the space feel even more special. The bathroom was large and spotless, and one of my favorite features was the clever entryway setup — it had a bench where I could comfortably sit to put on my shoes or organize my luggage, plus plenty of shelves above and below for storage. A clothes rack right next to it made unpacking so much easier. The bed was super comfortable and gave us the best night’s sleep. But what truly made this stay memorable was the front desk team — they welcomed us with such bright, genuine smiles. After days of encountering mostly reserved or slightly grumpy locals, their warmth was a heartwarming surprise. It was the perfect final touch to our Iceland adventure. 💫
