"What do amenities mean in the age of the millennial traveler? At the stylish yet understated Alda Hotel, guests receive a complimentary Android phone that’s preloaded with apps to help you explore the city, from the hottest new restaurants to the best shops for Icelandic wool. If your beard needs a trim, a barbershop is connected to the hotel by way of the Barber Bar, so clients can settle into the chair, craft cocktail in-hand. Rooms are sleek and spare, in Nordic hues of gray and white with an occasional splash of color; all bathrooms have contemporary walk-in showers, while upgraded rooms also feature large soaking tubs. Rooms on the third floor enjoy views to the mountains and North Atlantic, while those on the fourth floor have access to a rooftop terrace with city, mountains, and ocean vistas. The Alda is just a few minutes’ walk to downtown (including the pickup spot for most tours) and to the seafront; at the end of the day, the outdoor hot tub is a perfect way to relax and inhale the clean Icelandic air."
My daughter and I stayed here together for a week. What a lovely hotel and perfect location. The women that staffed the desk were friendly and helpful with answering questions about the hotel and area. We arrived from the US early in the morning and for a small fee we were able to get into a room right away. We ended up requesting to switch rooms the next day because our room overlooked the street and it was incredibly loud inside the room from the noise outside. They accommodated us fairly immediately. I asked at around 9 at breakfast and by 10:30 we were moved across the hall. We stayed in that room for the rest of the week and it was a huge improvement. It was completely silent in there and we slept great. The rooms are spacious and the shower is nice and hot. Breakfast every morning had a lot to choose from. There's also a nice restaurant/bar attached. The hotel is on the main street where you can find pretty much anything you need as well as any different kind of food you want. It's right around the corner from the rainbow street, and it's an easy walk to the famous church and down to the waterfront. I very highly recommend this hotel!

Great hotel tucked in the heart of tourist Reykjavik. Centrally located and helpful staff with suggestions or guidance. Service was amazing and the staff were so helpful. There's a breakfast buffet in the morning with a great variety of foods that will set you up nicely for your day ahead.
Rooms are moderately sized with basic amenities. There's a desk and chair in one corner by the bed and a nightstand in the other. Hanging wardrobe space is included. The restroom is a bit small and cramped, but it does provide enough room to do what is needed when the shower is folded inwards.
They offer a gym, spa/sauna, and a hot tub for guests as well.

We really just had the best experience here! Which was great because we stayed for three nights. This location could not beat. We were able to walk everywhere! There is a cheap parking garage about a block and a half away. Which we found to be very, very convenient. The hotel staff was super friendly, and very accommodating. They have a great breakfast buffet in the morning, too! Our only real complaint is that our room was in the front of the building, and on Saturday and Sunday night It was loud until about 3 AM outside. You can hear every conversation going on. The tattoo parlor across the street also blasts music during the day time hours. The room gets pretty hot, so you really have to leave the windows open. Other than that, we loved it. The room was clean, spacious and exactly what we needed. Cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Excellent, friendly staff, good location within walking distance of most attractions and tourist shopping. It was clean. The room was very small, small bathroom, tiny gym and an even smaller sauna, which can fit maybe 2 people. The hot tub is small and outside by a parking lot, which was disappointing.

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel at the end of our Iceland trip. Very nice hotel with modern touches. We loved that the hotel gives a phone to use during your stay. The hotel is located in a very central location. We did use the nearby parking garage to do overnight parking since street parking would have cost a lot more. We will definitely return to this hotel.

This hotel is well located in the downtown and very clean. We enjoyed the hot tub and there was also a sauna and gym at the hotel. The breakfast buffet was ample and we appreciated that breakfast ran until 10am. We also appreciated the luggage storage option for early/late check-ins and the front desk staff was great. We were able to walk or take transit to pretty much anywhere we wanted to go in the city and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed here Feb '25 for our honeymoon. It was unforgettable. Definitely recommend.
We had been given an upgrade to a room with balcony which was spectacular to have a view. Beds were so comfortable. We had complimentary wine and chocolate and rose petals on our bed. A really thoughtful touch. The staff were very friendly and helpful at reception. Great to have the jacuzzi and sauna too. Breakfast was a great selection and dinner was good quality.
The hotel is central to every where, small supermarket almost opposite and a short walk to restaurants and rainbow street. 10min walk to Harbour. 2 min walk to Bus Stop 9 for trips and transfers.

A beautiful and warm stay at the end of our Iceland trip!
Alda Hotel is perfectly located along a charming shopping street in Reykjavik. Our room was incredibly spacious with a cute little balcony that made the space feel even more special. The bathroom was large and spotless, and one of my favorite features was the clever entryway setup — it had a bench where I could comfortably sit to put on my shoes or organize my luggage, plus plenty of shelves above and below for storage. A clothes rack right next to it made unpacking so much easier.
The bed was super comfortable and gave us the best night’s sleep. But what truly made this stay memorable was the front desk team — they welcomed us with such bright, genuine smiles. After days of encountering mostly reserved or slightly grumpy locals, their warmth was a heartwarming surprise. It was the perfect final touch to our Iceland adventure. 💫
