"What do amenities mean in the age of the millennial traveler? At the stylish yet understated Alda Hotel, guests receive a complimentary Android phone that’s preloaded with apps to help you explore the city, from the hottest new restaurants to the best shops for Icelandic wool. If your beard needs a trim, a barbershop is connected to the hotel by way of the Barber Bar, so clients can settle into the chair, craft cocktail in-hand. Rooms are sleek and spare, in Nordic hues of gray and white with an occasional splash of color; all bathrooms have contemporary walk-in showers, while upgraded rooms also feature large soaking tubs. Rooms on the third floor enjoy views to the mountains and North Atlantic, while those on the fourth floor have access to a rooftop terrace with city, mountains, and ocean vistas. The Alda is just a few minutes’ walk to downtown (including the pickup spot for most tours) and to the seafront; at the end of the day, the outdoor hot tub is a perfect way to relax and inhale the clean Icelandic air."

Location is PERFECT! Service couldn’t be topped. A super warm welcome by the wonderful reception team. Rooms are the perfect size for a city break. We were lucky enough to experience the northern lights right from the balcony. A memory that will stay with us for a long time. Thank you, for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend, and when we return at some point in the future, we will for sure use this hotel again! ❤️

I am honestly shocked this hotel is rated as a 4-star property, because the experience was nowhere near that level. From the moment we arrived, it was disappointing. There is nowhere to pull up and unload your bags the street is a narrow one-way with barely any space to stop. There’s no parking lot, so you to walk about 7 minutes to an overnight parking lot just to leave your car which would be fine if they had people helping with bags. When we checked in, no one offered to help with our luggage. They actually don’t have staff for that at all for this which is surprising and inconvenient for a “4-star” hotel. The front desk wasn’t friendly, and the overall welcome felt cold and unaccommodating. The room itself was average and extremely small, definitely not what you’d expect for the price point. To make things worse, at checkout right in the morning they immediately denied my check-out, telling me the housekeeping supervisor denied any late checkout today, something I’ve personally never experienced at any hotel. The attitude from staff was dismissive. The only positive is the location, but there are plenty of other hotels in Reykjavik with great locations and far better service. We stayed in several during our trip to Iceland, and I would recommend others. Overall, this property seriously needs to reevaluate what it means to operate at a 4-star level.

My wife and I just returned from a 3 night stay here. Everything about this hotel was just right. We arrived very early from our over night flight, and our room was ready. They do charge a small early access fee, but definitely worth it. Very clean room with no smells of air fresheners, etc. ||The employees were all very helpful and pleasant. They also provide you with a complimentary cell phone to use while you are there. Our personal phone would not work in Iceland. ||There is a very nice bar/restaurant located in the hotel which we chose to eat at two different nights. There is also a new Starbucks located in the hotel—one of only 2 Starbucks in Iceland. ||Location is a short walk from bus stop #9. The fly bus will get you there from the airport. There many restaurants and shops located around the hotel. ||Before we traveled, I researched reviews of many hotels and chose this one. I know I made the right choice. We had a King room with a sofa.

We enjoyed our 5 night stay. The hotel’s location at the quieter end of Laugavegur is close to restaurants, bars, shopping, tourist attractions and the local bus stop where you can get picked up by the various tour groups. We stayed in a double deluxe King with balcony which was clean and spacious but lacked any type of storage for clothing. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet-a good healthy selection of tasty breakfast items and everything was fresh. The staff worked very hard and quickly to replenish the food dishes. The use of a mobile phone with helpful apps was much appreciated.

This place is fabulous!|We booked 2 rooms, one for our son and one for us and our daughter. The rooms were very clean and warm.|There was a card and chocolate in my sons room for his birthday, a nice touch.|The hotel was lovely in a fabulous location.|The staff were extremely helpful. For example, I was confused by a tour booking I’d made, they phoned the operator up and clarified it for me. They booked taxis for us too.|We ate in the hotel restaurant and it was lovely and reasonably priced too.|We used the gym and hot tub, just what was needed.|We had an evening drink in the bar, and just before they were closing the young barman came to us to check if we wanted another drink before they closed..his manners were impeccable.|We stored our luggage in a locked room whilst we waited for our evening flight.|If we come to Iceland again we will definitely stay at this hotel.|Thank you to all your friendly and professional staff.|Harrison Family.

Found this hotel as part of a great flight/hotel package deal and strongly recommend it. It is located in the local shopping area which is well lit, quiet in the morning, not too loud at night. There are people around and it felt safe. Next to many restaurants and we never had to walk more than 15 minutes anywhere. Hotel is clean and comfortable. They have a sauna and hot tub available from 6am-10pm. Reception desk was very helpful when we needed taxis and we were able to check in early from an early flight for a small fee. Would stay here again

We traveled with Jet2 from the uk and chose this central hotel after reading the reviews. We had a wonderful room and enjoyed the breakfast service. A lovely token was left in our room too. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

We had a good stay at Alda Hotel in Reykjavik. The location is excellent, it’s walkable to a lot of famous and interesting sites of the city with lots of restaurants and shops. The rooms are clean and well maintained (room 214 could benefit from more stronger shower water pressure, but the sink and toilet were ok). L’Occitane bath amenities. Staff were friendly and willing to help. They provided a cellphone for free because their rooms don’t have landline, you can make free local calls. We included the breakfast buffet with our stay, it was ok but would be better if they change some of the offerings each day. The hotel has a restaurant (Brass), a barbershop, a Starbucks, a gym, and a sauna. There’s free street parking from 9p-9a and there’s a nearby pay parking garage (pay street parking is costlier vs garage if outside the free times). We would consider to stay again at Alda Hotel if we go back to Iceland.
