This is a tough one to write. Our unit was about a five minute walk from reception, which normally wouldn’t be a big deal. However, you are walking on a rock path, and I don’t mean cobblestones or gravel. It’s literally rocks, and I’d be interested to know how many people turn or break their ankle on it. And when it’s raining, you obviously get wet, and the rocky path is slippery at points. Don’t stay here if you have even the slightest mobility issue. ||On the plus side: there’s a small restaurant, but make sure you have reservations for dinner (more on this later). The people running it rocked. Excellent service, great food, and there’s a nice sitting area outside in stunning gardens. Naturally, they have Portuguese wines, which is always a plus. ||The unit we stayed in was fascinating as it’s several hundred years old, but well appointed in terms of modern conveniences. We had a nice view of the ocean, and everything worked properly. I really appreciate a nice shower and we had a good one. Some might find it too rustic, we thought it was cool. The pool was very modern, and beautiful. ||We learned very quickly that if you don’t have dinner reservations, you may have problems finding somewhere to eat. At one point, we asked the lady in reception if she could make a reservation for us at a local restaurant. She seemed a bit hesitant, and said she’d text us if she was successful. We didn’t get a text, and assumed she wasn’t successful. So we went out for pizza. While we were eating, I got an phone call from an angry Portuguese guy wanting to know why I hadn’t shown up for our reservation. “I didn’t know I had one” was not a satisfactory response. I’m not a fan of getting yelled at by random dudes I don’t know when I’m on vacation, so I hung up on him. ||Bottom line: great place for the right kind of customer, just ok for me, and a poor choice for anyone with mobility issues.
