Aldeia Jerome

We stayed here the 4 nights that we spent in Santo Antão and loved it. The staff is super friendly and competent, the room was great, the breakfast was very good, we loved it. This village is also very convenient to go hiking, it is easy and cheap to get to Ribeira Grande by shared taxi (Colectivo) and it is much nicer. It is also possible to rent a car, we did it one day to go around the island to Tarrafal do Monte Trigo and it was totally worth it.

We spend there six nigths. The views were amazing. It's a quiet central place where to relax and enjoy very good breakfast in the top terrace. ||||Room: it has a fridge and a needed fan. The matress was a little bit hot, and we had a little water scape in the bidé that was arranged with a bath carpet. But still minor issues,||||Staff: all the workers are really nice and friendly, especially Debora. We loved her!||||Good price for what you get!

Very close to centre of this nice small town, down a beautiful path through a banana grove, it is secluded and peaceful. The beautiful little room was great, we could hear a running stream, just outside, all night. Though our early breakfast was serve a little coolly on our particular stay we would still recommend this pensao.

First and foremost if you are visiting Santo Antao you are one of the lucky ones in this earth. The island (outside of Porto Novo) is untouched and absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful people, culture, and nature all around you. Okay, on to the hotel. Small B&B located right in the heart of villa das Pombas (spelling?) Paul which is a lovely, sleepy, ocean town smashed between green mountains and the a rocky blue ocean. The hotel has about 10-15 rooms, they are all very clean and have hot water. The service is amazing. Talk to the owner Orazio, he is a gentleman and scholar. Breakfast of juice, bread, butter, jam, coffee, muffins, and homemade yogurt is included. The point here is that there are very few hotels located in Santo Antao and most are hard to reach or overpriced. This is where you should stay when on the island. Please trust me I have stayed everywhere else and this is only place to be. I almost forgot to mention that there is free/extremely cheap wifi in the courtyard which again is rare on the island.

We stayed one night and were desolated at the sight of the room, when we saw it. The buildings facades are nice, but the interior is very basic and uncomfortable. At night, I was bitten by fleas. The mattress was old and didn't seem very clean. The shower was basic and not enticing. In the morning, breakfast could have saved the day, but unfortunately the low quality was disheartening. Powdered milk, margarine instead of butter and funny-flavored yoghurt. Overall, in line with the village, which has nothing much to offer. |

This b&b has a very good location, at the end of the Paul Valley (great hikes, beautiful mountains) and in the village but still surrounded by nature and quiet. We had a suite with one kitchen/living room with 2 beds and one bedroom with a double bed. It had a large terrace with a beautiful view on the valley. And no, I didn't miss the view on the Ocean at all, simply because the fresh wind was coming from there and I would have been to cold to enjoy our terrace if it was facing the ocean. So terrace with the valley view and protected from the wind was perfect.||As written by other travelers, I agree that the staff is doing the minimum. They don't smile and don't make you feel welcome at all. Also, no one helps with the luggage when going up the stairs (ok, they were women, but so am I & they could still offer to carry one of our smallest bag!), but this I have seen in most places we've stayed in Cabo Verde, even when there were men around. No tip deserved there...||Breakfast was ok, but quality not great.

I liked this place, internet worked, breakfast was lovely and staff is lovely. I stayed on the ground floor, so no view, just overlooking stairs where people walk. The bed I had was very noisy and uncomfortable though.

The view, extraordinary! This combinated with clean rooms, a big +. They even ironed my shirt as i got a wardrobe problem the night i was going to propose to my fiancée. :) If you are looking for a bed and breakfast, if you don't want to get disturbed by anyone, this is the place to be!
