Good ice cream but few dollars more expensive per scoop than the place across the street plus they add a fee if you use a credit card. They roast their own coffee that is really good and the bags are reasonably priced!

We are in love with Aldo's boat delivery! The coffee is to die for, the pastries are amazing, the sandwiches are delicious. The best part is the service: you can HAIL the guys on VHF, they show up with a great smile and they sing 🎶 while delivering. We have lived on our boat for 5 years, travel 24 states and multiple countries and never experienced something so cool. We had other deliveries but never a boat with so many food options and such a superb service.

My husband and I rode bikes around BI and were in search of some good ice cream. We were on our way to a different place, but saw this place and thought we would try it. SO GOOD! We got the Boston Creme and Cookie Dough flavors and they were both delicious.

Google
Love Aldo's! So happy to see they opened at 5:30am (perfect to grab coffee and food before heading to watch a sunrise). The pastry cases are magnificent, the coffee is delicious, and I also grabbed a meat burrito that made me belly very happy! Everyone who waited on us both days were very pleasant (despite it being so early in the am). Can't wait to go back to Aldo's next time we're on Block Island!

Oh my goodness. The pastries from here are absolutely amazing. Not only are they visually beautiful, they're just as fresh and tasty as they look. The chocolate glazed donut I had here is one of the best I've ever had, hands down. I had this with some fresh squeezed orange juice and their acai bowl. Before heading home I decided to pick up an eclair, another chocolate donut, and a raspberry pastry. This will definitely be a stop every time I come to the island. Can't pass up this high quality pastry! The last time I was here I also had some of their sorbet and it was equally excellent. Creamy, smooth, and delicious.

If you want ice cream, go to Aldo's! They have a great selection, and they will even give you a sample to make sure you like it before you buy it. (Not all the shops in town will give samples!) This year, we also pre-ordered a birthday cake, and it was delicious. Vanilla cake, vanilla frosting, and chocolate chip ice cream filling. We got the 10" and it was more than enough for 15 people. Team Aldo's!!

Alex

Google
Decent sandwiches for the price. We liked the lox bagel, but avocado toast had more onion than tomatoes and not enough avocado actually, so I don't recommend it. Really good coffee and ice cream

Great selection, super service , Kiki was so helpful and friendly, you must stop bye!!

Yelp
We enjoyed the ice cream and gelato on a hot summer afternoon. It hit the spot with great service, charming atmosphere (and outside seating), and delicious desserts. I eyed the bakery counter--the strawberry cheesecake looked tempting. I'll be back to sample that next time I'm on the island. The history of Aldo's Bakery to boats is intriguing. Check out the bakery for a video capture of their long history of baking and delivering goods to boaters.

Yelp
OMG... the spinach croissants are simply out of this world! I LOVE that they deliver to boats in New Harbor as well... talk about outstanding service! This large bakery also offers a wide ice cream selection, gigantic cookies, and many other desserts. The interior has a busy vibe to it, and the walls are covered with authentic pictures of their business through the years.

Yelp
Had an awesome glazed donut. Reasonable prices. If you use a credit card they force a minimum of a 15% tip. But a great option on the island for some quality bakery goods and reasonable prices.

Yelp
When visiting Block Island, do not miss this one - the gelato was very good - like you would get in Italy. The nice thing is they offer gelato, ice cream and also sorbetto. The pastries looked amazing, but I didn't have any this trip. They even offered dog cookies for my mini schnauzer! The staff was very nice. Outdoor seating was wonderful on cool evenings, and it was fun to see all the kids enjoying their ice cream here. It's located on a side street a block from the ferry - a short walk from most of the local areas. So skip B & J's and come here instead - you won't regret it.

Yelp
Cute place . Very busy, even on a Thursday. It's August and waves of people keep coming and leaving, with lines out the door. This time we only got some gelato and lemonade. We went with blood orange and biscotti for the gelato flavors. Both great choices. However the service was chaotic unfortunately. Signs pointing to the gelato and ice cream don't mean anything, apparently you are supposed to stay in one line, but not the one for the bathroom and not the one for the baked goods. We were sitting there waiting for someone to acknowledge me, after the family in front of us got helped. Nothing, just 3 people going back and forth behind the counter! Only one started to serve people from this brand new big group that walked in at once. After us. At least be nice and apologize by pointing me in the right direction. No. Ignoring it's easier I guess. I finally had to get someone's attention for a small cup of gelato. I would strongly suggest to use the bathroom somewhere else because they only have one unisex stall and again, the line was very long . The service for the lemonade stand in the front was very nice however the flavor was gone after a few sips.

Yelp
Aldo's Bakery & Ice Cream Café is an artisanal bakery and creamery that opened in New Shoreham, Rhode Island in 1970. It was founded by husband and wife Aldo and Maria Leone. The couple immigrated from Italy to Providence, Rhode Island in 1955. Aldo began working in a bakery in East Providence and learned the craft of baking from an experienced Italian baker. In 1957, Aldo and Maria spent their first summer on Block Island. Aldo was invited to be the head baker at the Spring House and Narragansett Inn. In 1970, the couple would open their own business in a converted old firehouse. They became well-known for their freshly made breads, muffins, cakes, pastries and gourmet coffee. The business was later passed onto their sons Aldo Jr. and Bobby. In 1983, the sons added homemade ice cream and gelato to the menu (inspired by the gelato that the Leone Family grew up eating in Italy). They now produce 32 flavors of ice cream, 24 flavors of gelato, and 6 soft serve and frozen yogurt flavors. My first visit to Aldo's was last weekend. My wife and I were visiting Block Island to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary. This was actually the last weekend on Block Island before most of the restaurants and shops closed down for the season. We stopped by for dessert after dinner on our last night on the island. We were on the hunt for good Block Island ice cream. After looking over the selection, my wife ordered a cup of Cookie Dough mixed with Mint Oreo and I ordered a cup of 'Coffee & Donuts' mixed with Mint Oreo. This was some seriously good ice cream! It was the perfect way to end the day. We'll definitely be back on future trips to Block Island.

Yelp
Acai bowl advertsed did not have all the ingredients, but the price is the same. I was told in advance, so it was fine. It just did not give the full experience as both the granola and blueberries were not available. They take credit cards, and it looks like they have lots of yummy bakery items alomg with ice cream and gelato.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious ice cream that they have here. I walked in not knowing what to expect but went with the Boston cream pie ice cream and that was one of then best decisions I could make. It was beyond amazing. I haven't had that flavor before and it was so unique I wanted to try it and I'm so glad I did.

Yelp
This is a bakery ice cream parlor located across the street from a much more popular ice cream establishment. When you see lines at one place, pay attention. This place offers "no samples, unfriendly service, and horrible gelato at $7 a scoop. Spend a little more time in line and go across the street.
google avatar

Yelp
This bakery/ice cream shop is one block off the main drag and is worth the very short walk from the ferry to check out the wide selection of ice cream and baked goods! The Del's frozen lemonade lives up to its fame. It's a perfect balance is sweet and tart with bits of lemon throughout. There's plenty of seating inside the restaurant and the outside has a very cute outdoor dining patio. They're constantly making fresh baked goods and you can smell the delicious scents from blocks away I was too full from lunch so I only had a lemonade and a small ice cream. Next time I'm on Block Island, I'll save room for some bakery items!

Yelp
Mehhh on the pastries and coffee. Seemed to be a tourist trap kinda place with the location. Was super excited to try some coffee and sweets. Looking into the glass shelves, everything looked amazing, but turned out the reality wasn't close to the look T-T We got a cappuccino, Tiramisu, and Napoleon. Nothing impressed us and we couldn't finish anything and decided to toss the rest. The Tiramisu seemed stale and not fresh. The mousse wasn't smooth and kinda sticky. U know the great Tiramisu would melt in your mouth easily, just gliding in. But not this one. The bread in the Napoleon was tough and again stale. Coffee was ok, seemed to be better than the pastries we had that day. Service was quick and the place was quite busy. I was surprised though that this place looked like a great place with a lot of traffics but how come the pastries were just ok and seemed not as fresh as expected. Really wanted to like it. I missed Wholefoods' bakery for a moment.

Yelp
I love this place!!! TOO MUCH! If you want fresh baked goods, this is the place to go. I love the cinnamon buns! Ask to have them heated up and ... wow! Ice cream is a real treat too. A real plus is this: the place is immaterial!!

Yelp
I contacted Aldo's Bakery to make an icecream cake for my boyfriend's 28th birthday. They were closed because it was the off season but they made an exception because I called in advance- the owner was very sweet and made an INCREDIBLE CAKE!!! The frosting was to die for and this was no traditional icecream cake, it was literally chocolate cake with Reese's icecream in the middle and it was incredible. 10/10 would recommend!!!!!! We are so glad we have leftovers so we could bring this home to share with friends and family. Thank you!!!

Sana C.

Yelp
TL;DR Baked goods are worth a try. The beverages are not. Stopped at Aldo's because we were craving something sweet after dinner. Ended up getting a brownie, which was quite good. It was chilly outside so we decided to get hot chocolate as well. They use Swiss Miss mix for their hot chocolate, and it was incredibly watery. The staff was super nice though and let us get coffee instead. Unfortunately, the coffee they were serving at the time was room temperature. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd get a dessert again, but I don't think I'd get another drink.
google avatar

Andres A.

Yelp
Nice stop to have desert, baked goods and ice cream. They have a good variety of gelato and regular ice cream. Service is pretty quick and they have some tables outside to enjoy the fresh air as you eat your treats.
google avatar

Saumya B.

Yelp
Some of the best ice cream I've ever had! This place has so many different flavors of ice cream and gelato! Their bakery is also huge with a wide variety of cakes and goodies including brownies, donuts, massive cookies. I got the Boston pie ice cream flavor - so yummy, unique, creamy and soft. Loved it! My parents got a vanilla chocolate soft serve twist which was also good.
google avatar

Barnie J.

Yelp
Our 4 year old made us come here every night after dinner so she could have birthday cake ice cream. The portions are great. All you need to get is a kids size and it will do.
google avatar

Yelp
Greatest freshly roasted and freshly brewed coffee on the island. Friendly people and great pastries, absolutely great egg sandwiches and they are fast. Everyone there has a smile and is friendly and I look forward to going back tomorrow!
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
We walked thru amazed at all the goodies they had to offer. Everything looked delicious but we were too full for desserts so missed out. We settled for ice cream and a sorbet. The sorbet I got was called P.O.G which stands for pineapple-orange-guava and it was O.M.G! Perfectly sweet but not too sweet, light & refreshing. I def want to come back for more!
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Just stopped by there this weekend. The bakery/ice cream shop is bright, open and inviting. The bakery is vast, with lost of delicious items to choose from from French macaroons to scones to cookies to cupcakes and more. You can also get gelato OR ice cream! My child got birthday cake ice cream and I got Oreo gelato, after trying out a few different flavors :). It was clean and very well maintained. We will be back!
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
MEHHH-I know its a T-Trap going in, but you really gotta give more than 1/2 a scoop of ice cream for $6. Ice cream cooler must not have been running well when we went because it was melted by the time we sat down. (1 minute after ordering). However, staff was very friendly and espresso was good.
google avatar

Yelp
Everyone goes here Aldo's is one of the places on Block Island that everyone knows and goes to. It's located only a short walk from the ferry and you can actually smell the baked goods as soon as you get across Water Street. The store is small and dark with a few tables and chairs set up inside. However it has a fantastic porch in the front where you can eat your ice cream or pastries. It is great returning from a bike ride and then pigging out on their great ice cream or desserts. No, it's not health food but it is so good, especially since it is on Block Island. It's hard for me to think of a better way to spend a summer afternoon than sitting on Aldo's porch, looking at the ocean and eating ice cream.
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
Aldo's Bakery is one of the trademarks of Block Island in my opinion. While they are almost in constant competition with 'The Ice Cream Place' for customers, they have a very faithful following. Wether you insist on a waffle cone or a cupcake, the quality control is tight and you're sure to get a homemade piece of goodness time and time again. My family has been going to the Block for the better part of 20 years and everyone knows everyone by name. Most every single summer night we converge on Aldo's to share tales of the day over a small cup of ice-cream.
google avatar

Greg A.

Yelp
Aldo's has stepped up their game with the lobster tail pastry. Crispy filo dough with stuffed with mascarpone lightly spiced with cardamom or allspice?. Almost gourmet. Unexpected breakfast treat!
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
i personally couldn't eat anything here since they had no vegan options but my boyfriend enjoyed the cookies and brownies he got from here. if your not vegan or don't have any dietary issues or restrictions definitely go here
google avatar

Pooja A. V.

Yelp
I'm only giving this place 2 stars because of the variety of desserts and breakfast items they had available. Otherwise, I'd be giving it 1 star at best if I were to rate my soft serve ice cream. Probably the worst ever in life. Tasted and looked very watery as if it was made with water and not milk. Not creamy at all. Grab the ice cream across the street instead.

Gina P.

Yelp
Amazing. The atmosphere and employees were great. They were so friendly and happy to be there The pastries were to die for. I recommend the cinnamon twist. The orange juice is freshly squeezed. Incredible.
google avatar

Jim L.

Yelp
Peak season is over but they're still open for business. I took a tour group of 19 into this place to get Del's Lemonade. There were no customers and 4 employees standing around talking. I asked for 19 lemonades and was told, "We don't have any." I asked if perhaps they could make some because we had 19 people. I was told, "No," so we left and went to Blocks of Fudge. Apparently it's better to pay your employees to stand around and not be helpful than to go the extra mile to make a quick $75. I do not recommend this business.
google avatar

Shaun D.

Yelp
WIFI heaven. If you are looking for fast and reliable WIFI on block island, go directly to Aldo's Bakery and get yourself a yummy ice cream cone to help you get work done. Do Not I repeat do not go to the Island Free Library for WIFI access, the library is S L O W and frequently does not work.
google avatar

Chris P.

Yelp
A pretty good selection of homemade goods, the best on the island I'd guess. A fair selection of gelato, frozen yogurt, and ice cream too. I really wanted to try one of the cinnamon sugar pastries, but I did not have the courage to face the scale afterwards. I had a cup of stracciatella gelato, my girl had a cone of black raspberry frozen yogurt. I am not sure why, but my gelato was really stringy - I was achieving strings of gelato up to a foot from spoon-to-bowl, and it was a little strange. Both of us remarked that the flavor was "unremarkable" but alas, it was sweet and cold on a hot and sunny day. I also was surprised, though I shouldn't have been, at the $8.90 bill for two ice creams. Seems pretty high to me, even at island prices. If you go here, I'd recommend the delicious-looking pastries and the Del's, the ice cream / yogurt / gelato that we had wasn't really anything worth mentioning.
google avatar

Yelp
Aldo's Bakery did our wedding cake and it was absolutely amazing!!! My husband and I did not even really want to do a cake for our 225 person wedding, but decided we had to based on the tradition. When we bit into our cake we were blown away!! And after the wedding texts came flooding in from our friends and family about how delicious the cake was. We are so appreciative and would recommend Aldo's Bakery to anyone visiting Block Island and/or having their wedding on the island!
google avatar

Jose D.

Yelp
Good spot to get some ice cream! The cheesecake looked delicious too and I wanted to swing back through but we ran out of time before we had to catch the ferry. The staff is friendly as well. While signing the credit card receipt my ice cream flopped right off my cone like in a classic cartoon. They promptly made me another cone without any fuss.
google avatar

Richie A.

Yelp
Great big chocolate chop cookies!!!! We stopped in the bakery of this restaurant and shared a large and thick chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was totally worth it if you want to cheat on your eating plan! I am almost positive it was made with butter. The rest of the goodies look really yummy also. Will stop in on the next trip.
google avatar

Yelp
We came in early on our first day this summer. We were hungry and decided on a breakfast at Aldo's after skipping Rebecca's. We should have gone there. Anyway, we were seated quickly to a table. The menu was limited but the pancakes were out at 10am? We had our second choice. The good thing was the wait staff was friendly. We chatted with her. She was friendly. Food was mediocre.
google avatar

Addie H.

Yelp
Baked goods are good, donuts and croissants especially. Drink prices are kind of a rip-off (almost $4 for a medium coffee which you pour yourself). We spent most of our time here trying to win an Apple Watch from the Stacker machine and eventually settled for a friendship bracelet. Probably rigged. The duck claw machine lets you play until you win, so I guess that's a plus.
google avatar

Stephanie I.

Yelp
Nope. Not good. Ordered two coffees and a brownie. Coffee was ok, brownie had a strange consistency as if they'd poured half a bottle of Hershey's syrup into the batter. It also had a 1/4" layer of more Hershey's syrup frosting (again, didn't taste "chocolaty" more like corn syrupy chocolate flavored syrup). I was hoping for a cake like brownie - I took 2 bites of this one and asked if I could exchange it for something else that I could actually eat - they said no but they could reduce the price of something else. I went on the yelp reviews and saw that people specifically said don't get the donuts because they taste like bread with frosting on them ... I just walked out and left the (basically full) brownie on the counter. Didn't want to pay for another mediocre dessert. Too bad because the brownie LOOKED delicious but looks can be deceiving.

Yelp
I cannot leave my boat or the island without purchasing a PEACH muffin from Aldo's. Please keep bringing them to Salt Pond !!! It is part of my summer ritual. "Coffee Aboard".........
google avatar

Shannon S.

Yelp
Stopped in here for iced coffee this morning and was not disappointed. They offer about 6 different brewed flavors--everything from vanilla to chocolate raspberry to banana hazelnut--and its all self serve. Next time I'll grab a pastry to try too!
google avatar

Melissa I.

Yelp
Came for Ice cream with my nieces and nephew and enjoyed it. I left my wallet inside the bakery and Aldo and staff were kind of enough to hold it for me overnight since I went back to Point Judith and had to take the ferry back. Great bakery and lovely staff.
google avatar

Jessie L.

Yelp
Looking for the best bakery and coffee around. Look no further!! I don't even eat this good on the main land. Plus they deliver to your boat on the great salt pond! Nothing better

Yelp
I came here twice within the two days I stayed on B. I. The first night we were there I went there and both my hubby and I got Gelato on cones. OH MY were they FANTASTIC. I went there the day after that for a coffee and pastry, it was a cold afternoon. Their coffee was fresh and delicious and I had an Eclair and Canolli, they both were so Yummy. My hubby got a cherry/cream cheese pastry which wasn't the best but we aren't cherry people. Anywho, I can't wait to go back to go there. Also they accepted the Visa Giftcard I had, unlike many of the other places on this island.
google avatar

Edward M.

Yelp
This is a total dessert emporium, with a large case of baked goods as well as many ice cream flavors -- and a variety of coffees, too. I tried one of the ice cream flavors in a sugar cone. The serving size is fairly generous -- or at least seems that way as it melts down the outside of your cone and down your hand. The ice cream was cold, creamy, and rich, as ice cream should be. If I lived on this island, I'd try some of their baked goods. Maybe next visit.
google avatar

Joe F.

Yelp
I can understand paying 20 dollars for 3 ice creams because lets be honest this is a tourist atmosphere. However, the soft serve cone was grainy which means they arent properly using their machines. Also it wasn't even pulled onto the cone correctly, basically falling off the cone as we got it. The other ice creams were hard serve and basically were a scoop and a half that filled half of the cup. Very disappointed.....at least pretend to give me what I pay for.
google avatar

Rachelle C.

Yelp
BEST RESTAURANT ON BLOCK ISLAND!!!! Aldo's has the freshest seafood, best Italian pasta dishes, and most amazing pizza on the island!!! The waitstaff at Aldo's strives for a 5 star experience every time we eat at Aldo's! We had delicious espresso martinis and the most amazing bucket drinks (cruzan confusion), started with there delectable stuffed mushrooms and you can't leave without trying the fishermans stuffed lobster!

M B.

Yelp
The ice cream at Aldo's Bakery is homemade, and I can tell. I went here not once but twice during the 10 hours or so that I was on Block Island. The first time I got the birthday cake ice cream with hot fudge and it was absolutely perfect. The second time, I got mango gelato, also incredible. My only regret is that I didn't try at least one of their homemade baked goods as well, because they looked like they were to die for. There wasn't much seating inside, but I was perfectly content to enjoy my ice cream while walking around the island instead.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Went to Block Island for my Husband's Birthday, first experience was great and they did my order amazing. Before going back on the ferry we stopped there again to get some coffee, ice cream, and baked goods, I had the manager the second time we went in and all I can say is attitude. The largest size for the Iced Macchiato is Medium, but the first time I was able to get it in a large cup with extra milk in it, the manager wouldn't do this and when it was done I had a cup with no lid, so as I was paying I asked for the lid to be put on my cup, again it was only my second time here and the first time I had a lid on my cup, so when I asked she snapped at me to go over there and get my own lid. I understand that as a tourist spot you have a lot of people coming in so my one order means nothing to you, but as a manager customer service and satisfaction is something to be mindful... 4 stars for taste, wait time, and the first time I visited, 2 stars for my second visit
google avatar

Ali F.

Yelp
This place isn't very good. The ice cream is just OK. We overpaid for their breakfast one time. The food was bland and they didn't have any good options (fairly priced) for beverages. They were out of orange juice. It was not a good breakfast experience. We like the sound of the bakery boat crier when we wake up on anchor but haven't bought anything off of it. Overall, I've never been very pleased with Aldo's and their monopoly on the island.
google avatar

Katie W.

Yelp
Absolutely dreadful customer service, and it always has been. I've been coming to the island every summer for 32 years. Many years ago, this was the only place open for breakfast so we would always stop in for a quick breakfast to take onto the ferry. Today we did the same, and the clueless teenagers were completely thrown by our order for two bagels toasted with cream cheese, and a large chocolate milk. It took about 10 minutes to get all that together, after we repeated ourselves no less than 5 times, to three different people. To add insult to injury, the bagel tasted like a stale Lender's bagel. Truly pathetic. I am mystified at how they've managed to stay in business.
google avatar

Yelp
I can smell the baked goods in this place. It's so good! Nice patio outside with tables, chairs, umbrellas. There were so many people when I went inside (5 pm on Saturday). The desserts ( and chocolates and candies) on one side look so yummy. They have great coffee too especially the latte! On the other side is ice cream and gelatos. I got the Dark Chocolate gelato and it tasted amazing, so creamy! Long customer line but the people behind the counter were polite and helpful! Best dessert place on the island! And just a short walk from the main dock. Grab something right before you board the ferry!
