Aleksotas Funicular Railway

It's a fun experience to ride on this old funicular but not necessary for the journey as it's quite a short ride up and you could easily just walk it as well. It's very cheap at only €1 so it's fun to just ride on the way up and you can easily take the stairs back down. At the top, there wasn't too much but some ok views of the city.

Beautifully restored and only €1 to go up CAsh ONLY NO CARD. There is a view point at the top with an illy coffee machine with great views over the city. Stop and take a walk around the streets there. There is a monestry and some beautiful traditional and very modern houses.

Very short journey to the top but wow what a view! Traditional old wooden carriage, wooden seats, can be pretty chilly & not heated but with such a short trip it's not really an issue (lady operator on the way down gave us some cushions to sit on so took the chill off the seats). Runs every 10mins & think it closes between 12/1 & for lunch. Keep in mind it is cash only for the journey, paid separately both ways.

Up to top on cart, back down on foot 😃 Cost one way €1. Just cash accepted. Cash is king 💪

Easy to find using Google Maps, just in front of the bridge. 1 euro per person per way; seniors pay 50 cents. Short ride but beautiful. When you get to the top, you are greeted with an amazing panoramic view of Kaunas and especially now in autumn, it truly is breathtaking!

A quick journey up and down the hill to Aleksotas and the lookout. €1 each way (50 cents for over 65s). There are steps and a path at the side if you prefer to walk up the hill but it's different and worth the price.

Lovely view. Walked straight on, paid €1 to the inspector/operator once sat down. Short journey but worth it. Walked the way down. You can walk up the stairs (to the left of the Funicular) if you don't wish to pay to go up. Can't see much as the trees are either side but for €1 can't complain. The views are really nice. And as others have mentioned, the only thing up there is the view.

Good looking funicular railway in Kaunas. Unfortunately the staff that operate the railway are not too friendly and only accept cash. Which is unfortunate if you travel all the way across for the observation deck and cant get up. Still looks like a fun funicular railway however, so if you have cash (2 euro per ride), id highly recommend going up! Just don't expect a friendly response if you offer to pay by card.
