Before visiting this museum, we did not have much knowledge, of the role the Aleutians during WW2, however, due to this exhibit and information, we have a better understanding, of life and the invasion of the area.

If you can make it to Dutch Harbor, Unalaska, do it!
The WWII museum is a gem. Perfectly captures the complex history of Dutch Harbor during WWII and perfectly conveys the nuance associated with the suffering of the service members lost on the island as well as an exhibit that discussed, in a non-sanctimonious way, the plight of the native Aleut people. Informative and tasteful!

A fascinating side story about what happened to the indigenous people during WW2. Although it didn't end up being important militarily they were forced to move as a preventive measure. The real damage to their homes and ultimately their way of life was not from the Japanese. Which is recognized.

Important place to visit! I had virtually no knowledge of the occurrences on these islands during WWII. The museum's exhibits read like a novel. They also have a film that brings the time period alive. Bring a Kleenex. It is our duty to be informed.
