"If the owners of your favorite café — or in this case, your favorite wine bar or small-batch distillery — suddenly got into the hotel game, you’d probably sit up and notice. So it is with Alex Hotel, located in the heart of Perth’s buzzing Cultural Centre neighborhood. The team behind it already had a good thing going before opening the doors to this cool 74-room hotel. Several good things, in fact, and Alex Hotel is just the latest in a series." - Tablet Hotels

Love the hotel & the style HOWEVER I would rather listen to headbanging music all night long over the smell of their branded perfume they spray generously everywhere including yes you guessed it their rooms!! Nobody in their right mind would ever subject their guests to such polarizing idea of having a perfume scented in the room, and I don’t mean just a little but heavily even just a little many people all over the world are allergic to fragrances and to just take a liberty like that is so offensive and inconsiderate of their guests. I know some other hotels that do that as well fancy hotels that spray it in their hallways, etc., but to have it in the room, overwhelmed your senses and it is horrifying. I’m not even allergic to fragrance, but I definitely don’t want to be subjected to it in my hotel room for four nights that is absolutely not OK. I could taste it all day long every day I opened my windows and the door to air out the room each day to no avail, and I, of course, especially asked that the housekeeping not spray that sink in my room. The breakfast was cute, but there was nothing hot except for the coffee. The rooms are quite comfortable, but there is no place to hang your clothes. You must live out of your suitcase. I think there is just a little coat hook, and that was it. The location in Perth was excellent, and the service and agents at the desk were great. The bathrooms were wonderful. I had a great room with a balcony that overlooked the city. It’s a lovely hotel but they cannot regain my business because that fragrance is still permeating in my suitcases. that’s a really poor decision something that should be brought up with upper management, especially if they have multiple locations and they continue to do this.

Excellent choice near the station for our train to the airport. We made use of the level 1 sitting and kitchen area for coffee and tea making and the terrace on level 6. Nicely fitted out and, sure, the bedrooms are on the small side but everything has been done to not need to spend too much time there. Great Indian restaurant across the road too. No noise (room 205). Recommended for a short stay.

Stayed here over the weekend and thought it would be noisy due to the location but we couldn’t hear any music or anything and had the best sleep, the beds and pillows were so comfy too. Staff were all lovely and rooms were very clean. Great location as well close to everything

Do yourself a favour and book yourself a night or two at the Alex Hotel. We did just that the other week. A midweek night in Northbridge was in order and with the Alex Hotel being centrally located it was “just the ticket”. Josh was very accommodating from the moment we walked inside this boutique hotel. It was such a joy to be in the lobby with its cosy inviting spaces. I loved the communal lounge with tables and benches to sit and linger, read the papers, conduct informal meetings, or work in relative privacy if required. The communal kitchen with tea and coffee facilities was kept clean and the fruit bowl was a very nice touch. I appreciated the sustainable considerations throughout the hotel and more importantly how small spaces can be made to feel larger when designed well. Once again thanks Josh for your assistance with our bicycles and making us feel very welcome. All in all it was a very satisfying experience. We will be back.

Really enjoyed staying here. Staff were extremely friendly, approachable & helpful throughout. The hotel had a quirky layout with comfortable rooms and chilled tap water available at all times. The lounge areas on the roof & lobby are lovely with lots of character. We also appreciated the refreshment vouchers for days where we declined housekeeping - good environmental initiative.

Cute funky hotel. Functional if not basic rooms. Street facing rooms (about half of them) are pretty noisy on Friday and Saturday nights from hoons driving around revving their engines. They provide ear plugs 🤣 The breakfast was great. Good places to chill. Free lollies at reception. Filtered water is free. No mini fridge in the rooms.

We found the staff very helpful, and the location easy to get to. We also thought breakfast was great. Be aware that you’re right next to a pub that can get very noisy. However, the rooms are sadly lacking. There is very little hanging space, and the twin room was so small that you could touch the person’s arm in the bed beside you. There were also no small tables or chairs on the twin room, and only space for one suitcase.

Amazing boutique hotel. Stand out was the simple but very special breakfast that beats any big buffet elsewhere hands down. This is quality over quantity, with coffee made to order from a marzocco machine and incredible artisan breakfast pastries. Can’t wait to come back to Perth and to come back to the Alex.

Yelp
I want to move into this place! Like a "hostel for grow ups", Alex Hotel in the heart of Northbridge I would say is Perth's best hotel. The place feels lively, communal, and has a spirited creative vibe. When you walk in you're greeted by a friendly reception who don't have the usual "ring bell for service" attitude, but rather a "welcome to your new home!" feel. I haven't actually stayed in a room so I can't speak for that, but there is: 74 rooms, 24 hour reception, homemade communal breakfast, free WiFi, lobby cafe doubles as a co working space and there's complimentary chic bicycles to explore Perth city. It's beautifully furnished and thoughtfully curated with the 'traveller' rather than 'tourist' in mind, and as a 'local' I would kind becoming a staycation 'regular' at the Alex Hotel.

Yelp
Disappointing! Disappointing 2nd time around. Reception staff friendly and helpful. They make nice coffee downstairs, however the idea of no coffee making facilities in the room would be fine except the coffee upstairs was either cold, stewed or empty! Doors no longer fit properly so the wind and the noise from the hotel opposite seep in! With a full hotel the breakfast staff (only one) cannot cope and so if there are any spare tables these are not cleaned as the staff are too busy making speciality coffees! The breakfast ran out each day unless we were there at 7am. The little fruit bowl in the middle of the table is big enough for a family of 4 not for a whole hotel. The muffins never enough to go around, if more came they were gone in the blink of an eye! By no means a "hearty continnetal breakfast" as advertised!! The noise from the cleaning staff was awful, slamming of doors, shouting to see if anyone was in a room, not servicing the rooms that asked to be serviced until last. Beds not made properly.

Yelp
Stayed here for our 10 year anniversary. It's a great boutique hotel. You feel very relaxed and at home. Their front desk staff are so friendly. We we're on the six floor with amazing views from the balcony. The rooftop area is also amazing especially with the views at sunset over the city skyline. Highly recommend this hotel. Great location as well. We love the decor and the rooms were comfortable with quality linen and towels. I travel a lot for work over east and wish that this type of hotel is available on the east coast. A must stay for people wanting a little different to your usual hotels.

Yelp
Perth's newest addition to the hotel scene, Alex Hotel has popped up in funky Northbridge, surrounded by bars, cafes and the cultural hub of the city, and just a quick hop across to the CBD. Although rooms are on the petite side, they are perfectly comfortable, the bathroom is compact but well lit with a seriously good shower, and the Sodashi amenities are an added luxury. The 'hip' facets include a spacious and comfortable lounge area with complimentary tea & coffee, plus an honour bar stocked with beer, wine and soft drinks. Breakfast is a delicious continental buffet with all but the gluten free bread made in house. Perfectly good filter coffee and tea are offered on the buffet, or order from the lobby level barista (extra cost). Outside the door is a great Japanese restaurant, two blocks away a superb Mexican, across the road a couple of busy pubs and sports bars, and cafes abound. For some peace and quiet grab a beer or wine from the honour bar and retreat to the 6th floor's rooftop terrace! Whilst I wouldn't recommend this place to the average business man - or my Dad! - for anyone who likes their hotel to have a bit of character then the Alex delivers in spades. Keeping in mind the area is surrounded by bars, earplugs are stocked in the bathroom and, although I didn't need them, my colleague mentioned the noise was a problem for him on one night.

Yelp
My colleagues were in town for a meeting. We got to share the accommodations as we booked several rooms. In one of the rooms we booked was a single double bed. Toilet & shower en suite. The window in shower was floor to ceiling. The window screens could open so you could get a view of the street. Very Au naturale. Check in was uncomplicated & no barrier between reception and guest. Downstairs lobby was like a comfortable home. The dining area upstairs had a self service bar!! My colleague K got in late. So after checking in we went for dinner round the corner at Flipside burgers recommended by the Alex Hotel. Being in Northbridge the eating joints and drinking holes was endless. Across the road was the Brass Monkey for drinking aficionados. The train station was 5 mins walk towards CBD. However there is no train to the airport. So despite the convenience of the nearby train station you have to catch a taxi, Uber or try the airport bus shuttle. Neat package if u ride a bicycle. Bicycles are allowed on train as long as it is not peak time in morning and afternoon.

Yelp
Stayed here last night for our show at the Gallery. Such a beautiful, cool little hotel. We loved it. I've stayed in so many new - I guess you could call them hipster - hotels around the world and so many of them are over styled and impractical. But this place was so simple and intuitive. I loved the communal breakfast area and 'honour bar' , where guests serve themselves and write down what they have on a docket. The lounge area with board games was pretty cool too. Food is great!

Yelp
Phenomenal. The design and decor reminds me of the show Black Mirror. The staff is super friendly and completely accommodating. You can help yourself to beer in the bar. Their amenities are awesome too! The best shower ive had in a while with really yummy smelling shampoo, conditioner and body wash. They even give you two pairs of earplus. I'm legit bummed i may never spend a night in this hotel again as i probably wont find myself near perth again. Great stay!
