On the Grid : Alexander Park

"Alexander Park – is one of the first public parks in the city. This is a small square in the city center, with old trees, a small pond and cozy benches. The Park is rather densely planted with trees and it is nicely dark and cool in the summer. The Park is the most beautiful on a winter night, when the lanterns are shining. There is a coffee house in the ancient grotto in the center of the park. You can take the cocoa here and wander through the park without freezing. The Park is located close to the metro station and the main attractions, so don’t expect privacy from this place. On the other hand this park is just perfect for a short break, when you are running from one sight to the next." - Molinos

This park was very beautiful and shaded by large trees. The environment was good and safe for women. It has a separate bike lane. Also you will find pavilions for picnics there.

This is my favorite park for disc golf! The course has a great layout. It’s a good walk, not too intense, and the holes are well-designed for solid distance throws. It’s especially beginner-friendly, making it perfect for learning or just having a relaxed round.🌳🥏

Google

Google
Great park and I love coming here. But lately there have been cars driving to one particular pavilion via grass and walking path. I literally had a car today (5/3/2025) driving at me while waking on the walking path, and one car right behind me following me! Another time there was a lady driving on the main sidewalk! Is anyone monitoring activity at these pavilions?

Alexander Park offers a delightful retreat with its well-maintained grounds and ample amenities. The park's expansive walking trails are ideal for both leisurely strolls and rigorous jogs, catering to fitness enthusiasts and casual walkers alike. The lake, although rather small with only two viewpoints, provides a serene backdrop perfect for a peaceful afternoon by the water. One of the highlights of Alexander Park is its well-equipped playground, which ensures children have a safe and enjoyable environment to play. Additionally, the disc golf course offers a unique recreational opportunity for visitors of all ages, though it is often shared with those picnicking or strolling, which can sometimes lead to congestion. The park also features multiple picnic pavilions, making it a suitable venue for family gatherings and social events. Though the park is generally well-kept, occasional overcrowding on weekends can detract from its tranquility. Nevertheless, the combination of diverse amenities, picturesque landscapes, and convenient location makes Alexander Park a commendable choice for outdoor activities and relaxation.

Google
Beautiful Alexander Park with Great Amenities, Just Keep an Eye on Your Kids. Alexander Park is a wonderful place with beautiful scenery and excellent amenities. The only con is that kids can easily get lost if not properly supervised, especially if there’s only one adult. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for kids and family outings.

Google
Very nice park first time to visit. Walked around with my boyfriend. The restrooms were clean. Everybody was enjoying the park. We walked around 2.5 miles saw the lake. Beautiful old trees and plenty of benches if you need a break. Playground for kids and lots of space. A really nice park.

Saanvi Adhikari

Google
This is a great park all though the sea saw is on life support and will break and make so kids fall and hurt themselves and that can cause a lawsuit, also the swings make an annoying sound when you used them, plus I'm pretty sure one of those two people swings (the ones where a parent and a child can swing at the same time) are more losses than the other, and the whole park is filthy. I know it costs money to clean it but would it kill someone to at least somewhat clean it like every three year or even every 5 years?!? Other than that the park is a wonderful park and I would recommend it to anyone who just wants their child to play and have fun.

Yelp
This park was upgraded 3yrs ago to add additional trails, dog park, playgrounds for kids and pavilions. At the time I was there , 2:00PM, it was not crowded. There were kids everywhere unknown if school was out or they were out early. Appears more work is being done as some of the trails were not finished. Grass/Weeds were grown up in those areas. From what I'm told the trails are now 3.2 miles prior to the upgrade it was roughly 1.7 miles if that . This upgrade allows additional parking on the front side of the park facing 124/scenic hwy. this also allows a second entry Very nice park! Actually all the parks in Gwinnett County are nice. There are several in the county If you're near this park or want to change up your workout location, check out Alexander Park.

Yelp
Really nice park, it has a pretty long wall around trail if you want to get those steps in. Also has some playgrounds for the kids if you decide to bring them. Its a pretty sizeable park and very clean. There is the occasional dog poop om the side of the trail here and there but it wasnt anything too crazy. It also has some nice places to take pretty cool selfies.

Yelp
I do love this park but it's not the park where my issue lies,it's with the grounds maintenance or I should call this one person the Poop Gestapo! Five minutes of getting there and into our walk, this dude comes chasing us down on his mower, scared the hell out of us, thought he was going to run us over, jumps off the mower and comes over and yells at me, "You didn't pick up your dogs poop!" Ok for one, my dog hadn't even had time to poop, we had just got there. And even if I hadn't I didn't appreciate the theatrics. I come there with my dog and disabled husband to walk in peace, it's good therapy for my husband who has dementia but this was uncalled for! If they want to really obsess over something, how about all the poop on the walkway and the used condoms I have to constantly step over!

Yelp
This park is perfect for picnics and walking your dogs, it's kept clean and a decent location.

Yelp
Man Gwinnett County has a lot of great parks. This is a large park located in Lawrenceville. You would expect this is the biggest park in Lawrenceville, spanning 91 acres, but it isn't. That title probably belongs to Tribble Mill. But Alexander Park is no slouch either. Alexander Park probably has one of the best looking disc golf course in the area. The disc golf course is so nice, I mistook it for a real golf course. Besides the disc golf course, there are 2 playgrounds, a non-paved trail, and a paved trail. The paved trail is about 1.8 miles. There's also a pavilion, pond (you can fish here), trees, an outdoor classroom/theater, and other nature-y stuff. The main, paved trail is nice. It's an easy walk and it goes around the perimeter of the park. You can see all the park as you walk around it. The view is nice and calming. The public bathrooms are clean enough, not sparkle clean. But it does the job fine. There are 2 playgrounds, like I mentioned. One seems to be for the younger kids, and the other for the older kids. The one for older kids look like an amusement park. It has giant slides and such. This park is great. It's probably one of the better parks in Lawrenceville. Of course, it's not as grand or big as Tribble Mill, but I think this park offers other features. This park is immaculate. It well maintained and looks beautiful. It is one of my favorite parks I've been to. If you want to walk, play in the playgrounds, play disc golf, fish, have a picnic, fish, or more, this is a nice park for all that.

Yelp
this park is so great and big and beautiful! There is so much parking! A great track to run or walk on with divided lanes! A disc golf course, a playground and a dog park! I am so grateful to have found it

Yelp
My favorite Gwinnett park -- it's magical every time I go, and that's saying a lot because if there's one thing Gwinnett does right, it's parks

Yelp
Love this park! Super big with lots of jungle gyms. Lots of free are as well. .......

Yelp
I absolutely love Alexander Park. Even though it's a good 25-30 min drive for me, I sometimes still take the drive up there just to enjoy how beautiful it is. I love the lake views! Some of the amenities you'll find here go from disc golf course, horseshoe pit, playground, lake and lake piers, and picnic areas with outdoor grills. Oh, and a doggy park too!! This park also counts with paved trail, and non paved trails to enjoy daily walks, or runs, and public restrooms as well. There's plenty of parking, and I believe they just added even more parking spaces. ESPAÑOL Me encanta Alexander Park.

Yelp
Some of my friends and I began a walking group and started with Alexander Park this past Saturday. I had visited before but had not explored the walking trails. It's a super busy park, and has a lot of options for walking and light hiking. It's nice that the walking trails have different scenery, lots of trees and green covered areas, along with unpaved trails for those who want to practice hiking a bit, a very basic level. I must say, I'm very pleased that we chose to walk here. I was relieved to see that the bathrooms were relatively decent for a public park, and there's a nice sized play area and play ground for those who want to bring the kiddos. There's a small pond in the middle of the park, and there's a boardwalk so you can walk and look around, it's actually such a nice hiatus from the trails, very peaceful. We also saw a guy fishing in the small lake in the middle of the park LOL, as well as a large group playing disc golf on the greens. Lots to do here. The only reason that it didn't get 5 stars is because the parking is horrific. The parking lot is so small, and there are limited spaces, or else you'll need to park waaayyyyyyyy on the other side of the walking trails. If you go, be sure to go early because parking is a chore.

Yelp
I really enjoy walking and running in this park. It has both a paved and natural trail to run. I go every morning. It's a group of regulars. Everyone is friendly.

Yelp
Love this park. Always lots of people and fun atmosphere. My child and I go often. Thumbs up.

Yelp
Simple park with a fantastic walking trail. Beautiful scenery for taking pics as well. Park has pavilions for birthday parties, reunions, etc. Nice playground which is still in great shape since the park is quite new. It has enough to keep the kids busy for a few hours. You can walk your dog, fly a kite, or sit and read a book by the water. Restrooms are nearby the playground and were kept pretty clean for a public park.
google avatar

Ravi B.

Yelp
My favorite park other than Piedmont Park. I come here regularly to walk, run, and relax. There is a beautiful lake to sit and gather your thoughts on a breezy day. There is a 1.4 mile outer loop walking trail and a 1.03 mile inner loop running trail. The running trail is awesome because it's more naturey and goes through the "woods". This park also has a unique "disc golf" designation. Disc golf is also called frisbee golf. I saw a lot of people get really serious about their disc golf. A couple of friends and I tried to play for a couple of hours one morning and we barely got through half of the course without calling it quits. Great exercise and fun though! The playground is pretty and not always busy so if you want to go swing -- forget your age. Just swing. Play on the big rock too! Be a kid again. This park also has an amphitheater. However, I have never seen any concerts. Most days I see kids playing soccer, several boot camp and yoga groups, kite flying, and sometimes I see people in the pavillion having family reunions and bbq-parties. At the entrance of the park if you go towards the right there is also a cool big compass thing which most people don't see unless they look. I came here once for a charity event and they showed frozen on the green space. That was awesome! Like I said -- my favorite park.

Yelp
I love this park its so beautiful and peaceful. There is ALOT of green space, walking/riding trail, golf course, 2 different playgrounds... absolutely gorgeous!!!
google avatar

Ashbeezy B.

Yelp
I love this park. I trained here before I joined the army. There is a beautiful trail that has several inclines. If you can't make it to your gym & you're in the area you should give it a try. The bathrooms are usually pretty clean too.
google avatar

Dominique W.

Yelp
This is my son's favorite playground to go to and meet new friends. For me, it's a park I love because the breeze is always flowing and it always feels so fresh, looks so clean and I really just love the relaxing peace over here. It's a beautiful park for the whole family with plenty of parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally! The dog park is open. Long overdue! My puppy dog had a blast meeting all the other little dogs! It's perfect and in the perfect location! So happy!

Tiffany C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite parks to walk/jog and bring my dog. Alexander Park is very spacious, it has lots of open space for kids or pets to play. Not too long ago they expanded the park I believe it now has two playgrounds and two dog sections for large and small dogs and they lengthened the trail. There are two looped paths, one on concrete and the other on bits of gravel. Both are easy to walk/run, but the gravel path gives you more of an uphill challenge, just watch out for flying disc ( yes, this park has disc golf). There is also a small lake, with two observation piers. There is usually a good number of people at the park, so luckily there is more than enough parking.
google avatar

Wojtek W.

Yelp
You may not be familiar with all the logistics behind creating a park space but it really comes down to ideas and... money. What we presently see at the park is phase one. Since I belong to a steering committee ( folks who offered their ideas ) I will share what is coming to park as phase two. The second entrance to the park will be right from Hwy 124 and will lead to another parking lot big enough to fit 200+ cars. There will be a dog park and a valley all court. The construction supposed to start last summer so there is a delay in construction. The big tree supposed to get some TLC from tree specialist to assure its long life for as long as possible. Down the road we may expect some soccer fields along Hwy 124 ( far away from Flowers Crossing subdivision per respondents request)
google avatar

Autumn ..

Yelp
Not much scenery but it's nice for a walk, birthday party, or to let kinds play. Very chill. Great for a simple lunch in the park too.
google avatar

Phuoc N.

Yelp
This park is a giantic open space of nothing. It is a great place for playing frisbees, kiting, and running or walking your dog. The larger loop is a little more than a mile long. It accompanies by a gravel trail into the trees. The park is divided by a small pond. It is big, but it lacks restroom facility on the other side of the pond. It does not have designated soccer or baseball field. Also, it is a fun place to play Pokemon Go. There are three gyms and a few pokestops, conveniently located along the running track.
google avatar

Andrea G.

Yelp
Love this park. It's close and I love the expansion. It's a bit too crowded for my taste during COVID, but you can still get a nice walk in, with a mask on. Also, it has limited woodsy, shaded areas.
google avatar

Licca K.

Yelp
Really cute and simple park. It's not terribly big, but you can walk the perimeter. There is a forest area plus a large play area for kids. If you need to get in a quick evening/morning run I imagine this is a great spot for that as well. We came here during the Pokemon Go craze. Was a lot of fun for that alone, but kudos to a nicely done park.

Yelp
Oh myyyyyyyyy goodness. This is easily one of the best disc golf courses I've played to date. It may be a little far from Atlanta proper and isn't exactly located in a part of town that you'll want to be on a frequent basis, but the park is incredible... and beautiful. Came for an afternoon round with a buddy and it was a perfect day to be outside. The disc golf course is amazing. Tons of open drives, challenging approach shots, and woodsy coverings. I was particularly impressed with the level of professionalism at each hole. Paved tee boxes, brooms at each one, maps for different placements of baskets, and benches constructed by a local boyscout troop. The course is rather challenging, too. Many of the baskets are laid out in a par 3 format, but there are a few long drives making for a par 4 or 5 distance drive. The park itself is huge and houses one of the best running/walking trails I've seen at a park. The loop is generous in size and is easily the most popular part of the park for goers. There were tons of people running or walking and enjoying the sunshine. There is also a huge playground nearest to the entrance of the park proper. I can't wait to come back and play another round. Being 45 minutes from Atlanta is a bit of a bummer, but so worth it.

Yelp
Alexander Park is a beautiful park for family and friends that sits on a total of 91 acres of land. It is huge in comparison to other parks nearby and there are plenty of things to do here. With that said, this place gets PACKED like a can of sardines. So come here early, or else it is almost impossible to find a place to park. The park has an excellent playground, with two parts, the left side is for the bigger kids and the right side is designed for the younger toddlers. They have a huge open field here that is usually filled with kids or adults playing soccer and they have a nice 1.4 mile multi-purpose trail and 1 mile soft paved trail that is always filled with walkers, joggers and runners, so if you are trying to cycle here, don't, because you will be annoyed by having to constantly stop due to people walking all over the place on the trail... My only complaint is that for some odd reason the people who use the trails here at Alexander Park are oblivious to the fact that the left side of the trail is for going (away) and the right is for the coming (approaching) traffic, just like driving. Once while cycling here I had a group of four ladies who became mesmerized like deer being blinded by high beams, as my bike approached, so I had to hop off, because they would not budge. Okay, enough about cycling... So what does Alexander Park have to offer? The park offers something for everyone, including fishing, playgrounds, horseshoe pit, pavilions, lake (more so a pond) with a standing pier, soccer field (also used as an amphitheater), bathrooms, charcoal grills for parties, 2.4 total miles of trails and a 18 hole disc golf course. I recommend this park, just come earlier in the day and don't cycle here.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
Great park and very clean. I have been taking my children here for years and have always been comfortable with the atmosphere, no weirdos. Lately though the pavilion near the pond has had young groups with obscene music laced with profanity blasting. I hope that gets taken care of.
google avatar

Jamarcus T.

Yelp
I had no idea that this park was less than 5 miles from me, so it's a shame that I only found out about this park today. I visited on a Friday afternoon in the summer. There was foot traffic and groups occupying one of the covered picnic seating areas, but plenty of parking (and there was an alternate lot, though I wasn't sure how to get to it...maybe on my next trip) and not so crowded that you couldn't enjoy yourself. You have just under 3 miles of trail to explore, which branches off from the larger outer loop and a few stringer trails inside that outer loop. In the center there's a nice pond with a sitting area to relax. There's a few inclines, but nothing horrible. By cycle, the outer trail can be done in less than 10 minutes at a casual pace. The thing that I love about this park is the openness of it. When the grass is high, it almost looks like you're in the middle of some great plains just for a bit. There aren't a ton of trees because of this, so windy days are REALLY windy. Several benches litter the trail, and at the parking lot you have a nice restroom, children's play area, outdoor study area and a few places to bbq should you like. The park is very clean, and although you do hear lots of cars driving by, it doesn't pull you out of your experience. I'd never heard of Disc Golf until moving to Gwinnett County, but this is the second Disc Golf park i've stumbled upon. Looks like fun! Very fun, very chill park to come enjoy yourself
google avatar

Yelp
I always have loved this park it is always full of people, people exercising if you want to be motivated. Kiddos everywhere if you want to bring your kids, I just really enjoy this park! I visited quite a few parts in Gwinnett but this one is my favorite.
google avatar

Trent C.

Yelp
The newly renovated park is wonderful. Fantastic dog park, new playground, frisbee park, large lawn. Nicely done.
google avatar

Kenneth T.

Yelp
This park has always been my go to. It's a beautiful park with a friendly and safe environment. It does get pack during the weekends but keeps my mind at ease when I go jogging alone. They have paved and unpaved trails that people can utilize. There is two jungle gyms, one for a smaller age group and another for kids that are a tad bit older. The fields will have people playing football, American football, and training/exercise classes. They have a few pavilions with grills that you can use. Cute little pond and disc golf. Most of the things you need in a park you can find here!
google avatar

Aryan K.

Yelp
Would give this park a 5/5 but the parking lot and terrible drivers always seems to ruin the moment. Park is amazing, and has many trails. It can get crowded during certain times. P.S. If you play Pokemon Go, the park is known for Scyther spawns!

Eavan S.

Yelp
Very big park with lots of trains to walk around. I love water and the only body of water this place has is a still lake so it's not my type of park. Nevertheless it is a beautiful park and is great for kids!
google avatar

Melody E.

Yelp
My children and I enjoyed the park. It was fun, clean and toddler friendly! The only thing it's missing is a splash pad.
google avatar

Yelp
I remember hearing about Alexander Park when it first opened up but I never had a chance to check it out or anything. I wasn't sure where it would be but I did see it driving on Scenic Highway one day. Since I wanted to explore more Gwinnett parks, I thought why not finally go to Alexander Park? So I finally did come here on a Saturday morning. I read the Yelp reviews about minimal parking so I made sure to come early but dang, everyone and their mama was already here, could be that it was the Saturday before Memorial Day and everyone wanted to either get their work out on or grill. I parked in front of the playground area. It was so packed! I did get confused with the many trails, not knowing where they would lead to. I wanted to check out the lake, it was more of a pond, is there another one?? I read you could fish here too?? It was much smaller than I thought. The view was just a-okay. I ended walking in the disc golf area. I found it interesting. I never have heard or knew anything about disc golf either but it was interesting. I was glad I chose this path cause it was more of a nature trail, which I was so happy. I love nature trails and prefer it cause of the scenery. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

MoMo J.

Yelp
This is my favorite park to go for a run. I'd rather run outdoors than on a treadmill. I love the relaxing nature scenery here. They have 2 types of trails that go around the entire park. One is paved concrete and the other is a soft surface trail. For running, I prefer the soft surface (less shock absorption). Overall, this is a great park for all ages.
google avatar

Ross R.

Yelp
Alexander Park disc golf course is top notch in terms of infrastructure. From the main parking lot, we had to find the one sign which told you where the first tee was. It was a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the first hole, but the paved walking track made it pretty easy. 18 holes and each tee has TWO concrete pads; for shorter/longer drives. (There's even some holes that have tiny little brooms, so you can clean off the tee before your drive....a bit much, but whatever....). Signage is very clear and the course flows well from hole to hole. There are even little signs that tell you what direction the next tee is, in case you forget by the time you're at the hole. DISCatcher baskets are clearly marked. There a good mix of long drives, short drives, light trees, heavy trees, and even one water hazard (disc swallower) on hole 17. Variable basket locations at each hole. The one down side: very busy park. There are runners, bikers, soccer moms and dads, pee wee sports, kite flyers... everywhere. But they are all there because its a great park in a great area. We were behind one foursome, with a foursome behind us: by far the most disc golfers I've ever seen on a Tuesday afternoon/evening.

Yelp
I loveeee this park!! I visit this park literally every week mostly on Saturday morning The atmospehre is really fresh and clean. I take my dog with me to exercise. I met a lot of people who bring their dog to this park even though this is not a dog park. because this park is so big. There is a small are for toddler and sometimes i saw people gathering for a small outdoor party to celebrate someone's child birthday. I see a bunch of people playing some freesbee. They have a water fountain both for dogs and people. really awesome! They have public bathroom. the only cons is that although i found this place quite clean, i will carefully watch my dog for not steeping on dog's poop. Really awesome park! I loved it!
google avatar

Mebin J.

Yelp
Ok ,the reason why I like this park is is seems beautiful in summer and fall. You can take lot of good photos in the evening (check my photos in yelp). Good playground (foot ball, tennis ,and volleyball) and also good walk trail with beatiful scenarios.
google avatar

Dijan M.

Yelp
Great place for a walk or a jog. One of my favorite Gwinnett County parks. There is a little lake in the middle of the park. There's also a gazebo area that overlooks the lake. It's very scenic. The bathrooms are not as clean as they should be.
google avatar

Karly G.

Yelp
They have minimal parking here so come early... It's a fairly nice park with a huge green field for soccer, football or even flying a kite. I swore I saw some people selling kites that one day I was there. It's fairly clean and there's several miles for people who wants to walk, run, ride bike, skate, rollerblading etc... I like that it's conveniently located a mile from my home so there's no excuse to not be there... unless it's cold and rainy. :)
google avatar

Patrycja M.

Yelp
Great playground for kids. It's really big. Also has a really long jogging trail and a lake. I take my little girl here quite a bit
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Love this park. Such a big area for kids to play and run around. There's always tons of dogs but I've never seen a dog act up. Love taking my kids here. Great place to walk on the trails too.
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
I've been to five or six disc golf courses in the Atlanta area and this one is by far the nicest. The course is very well kept up. There are two concrete pads at every hole to tee off from. There is a sign and map of the hole at every tee, and even a broom if you need it. Excellent upkeep. There are a variety of holes, some in the woods, some in the open. The flow of the course makes sense, and there are signs that point you to the next tee. It was not very crowded when I went on a beautiful say in early March, but it likely gets very crowded in the Spring/Summer/Fall. My only complaint is that this course is about 45 minutes from Midtown, Atlanta. Otherwise it is excellent.

Baonhan P.

Yelp
This is a nice, decent size park, and easy to find as well. Come for a walk, a play ground or a seat to watch people playing soccer if you are soccer lover.
google avatar

Rod H.

Yelp
Love this park. It is a great place to run and relax. Our Crews Running Club does a 5K every Monday. We love how clean and friendly the park is to its visitors.
google avatar

Donnie L.

Yelp
Good park overall. Limited shade from tall trees but if you like an open walk and playground, this is it. Road traffic and noise not as bad as some nearby parks but it is not isolated like others. Overall, a great park. Band area and Folf course a bonus.

Nikki N.

Yelp
I come here all the time. Pros: great trails to walk, ride bike, walk dog, big playground, picnic area, flying disc golf course, soccer area, fly kite, etc.. Cons: gets busy, hard to find parking unless you go all the way to the end and park on the gravel, and no dog park.
