Google
Amazing steakhouse dinner for our honeymoon. We wanted to go somewhere nicer to celebrate and we chose right. Amazing service from Kevin. It's nice in there but not unwelcoming or snobby. The food was awesome and a fair price. They even gave us homemade cheesecake on the house to celebrate! I will be telling my friends and returning one day. I recommend calling ahead they were busy even on a Tuesday evening.

Google
I had dinner yesterday with my girlfriend. Service was slow in the beginning. We had fix menu for 130$. It was fine. Only bad thing was the front door. It was icy. I was in danger of falling through. You guys should fix that. people can injure themselves.

Google
Hostess and bartenders were polite and professional. Our waiter Mark was excellent and very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. The swordfish was to die for!!!! The chicken Alexander was very tasty with large portions for both items. Nice Wisconsin supper club vibes. You do need a reservation no matter what time of year as this seems to also be a local favorite. This place was recommended by a local, and we are sure glad she did 😀

Google
Great service and a good old fashioned to start things off. It didn’t have that classic supper club feel but more of a nice restaurant vibe. Tables were stacked up, so it’s a popular spot. The shrimp tempura was just okay, but I had the roasted duck in cherry sauce. The duck was cooked perfectly—tender and all—but the chef was playing it a little too safe with the seasoning. Both my spouse and I felt our meals were lacking in flavor, even though they were cooked right. Definitely had to give the salt shaker a workout. Prices are typical for DC.

Google
Wow! What a great place to eat. I had the lamb chops. Never had so many chops and delicious. My wife had the Seafood Vol-Au-Vent. Certainly one of the most amazing dishes. Full lobster tail and a ton of other seafood in a delicious lobster bisque. A bit of a splurge, but so worth it.

Google
Perfect Wisconsin restaurant to check-out when you visit Door County. It's cozy and the food is great. I've been a couple of times and had fish both times - Broiled Door County Whitefish and Walleye Pike. They also do a great job with gluten-free (Celiac). They have a decent-sized bar, too.

Google
Great food and excellent service! We got the baked brie appetizer and it was delicious! We had the sea bass and the ciopini and both were very good. I definitely recommend Alexanders. Make a reservation though.

Google
Love coming here on our jaunts to Door County. The food is do beautifully presented, exquisitely tasty, and the service is impeccable. Kevin was our waiter, and he was wonderful! Hubby had the filet Oscar style. I had their salmon special of the evening. Both were superb! Make a reservation. We try a do this a few weeks ahead of us coming.

Yelp
My mom, cousin and I enjoyed an all you can eat Thanksgiving meal at Alexander's. As always the food was spectacular and the service on point. A plate full of deliciousness was brought out complete with turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes and green beans and seconds would be available if you so desired. Choice of a salad or soup was offered first. I mistakenly assumed the pie would be included (it was not) which was disappointing (but that's on me). What really shocked me was being charged for salad dressing!! I understand my being charged as I asked for crumbled blue cheese. I did not expect to pay for my mom's salad dressing too, especially when the salad was included with the meal.

Yelp
Came up to Door County on a whim to catch the last of the peak fall foliage. After a day of hiking I was in the mood for a nice steak. I am so happy to have stumbled upon Alexander's. I didn't have a reservation but I came right at opening and found a spot at the bar, good thing I did because this restaurant filled up SO fast. My bartender Ian was so lovely to chat with and handled the hordes of people expertly. The bar is full service. My fillet melted in my mouth and was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The potatoes are next level. The asparagus was such a nice addition, and the mushrooms were sautéed very well and not too saturated with butter. Ended up chatting with some friendly locals that shared their crab cakes with me-- which were also fantastic. Altogether had an absolutely wonderful dinner on a crisp and beautiful fall evening.

Yelp
Very awkward experience... I was in the ladies restroom, I used the restroom and while I was washing my hands a young man walked in (an employee) but he didn't knock or say anything. I felt very uncomfortable but said "hello" and he said hi and proceeded to go into the stalls to put toilet paper in there. I told the hostess about my experience and she literally ignored me and asked if I had a reservation. Very awkward and somewhat rude. Not sure what else to say... I've been here multiple times before and the food has been great but this recent experience was very weird.

Karl D.

Yelp
Great food. OUTSTANDING SERVICE! Steaks, seafood, and dessert were all delicious. We'll be back

Yelp
Expert service, cozy atmosphere, delicious elevated fare is what you'll find at Alexander's. The front entrance brings you into a lively, mood lit bar with plenty of bar and lounge seating. Recommend grabbing a Wisconsin old fashioned before your meal. The reservation desk is tucked across from the restrooms where you will get a tiny buzzer that will alert you when your table is ready. Alexander's is one of the finest dining experiences one can have in Door County! I loved the Saturday night special, tenderloin a la Oscar. It was cooked to perfection, with a lovely presentation of an edible flower and julianne vegetables. My husband enjoyed the ample king cut portion of prime rib. The service was exceptional with the support team consistently refilling beverages, clearing plates and the waiter checking in on our comfort. An excellent date spot or to gather with a group for an elevated night out.

Yelp
Alexander's is just a great experience from the moment you arrive. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks are a great pour and the food is always fantastic. We love their version and presentation of the escargot. The soups are also always outstanding. I'm partial to the chicken or pork prepared Chloe style--it's a rich but balanced creamy mushroom sauce and my husband loves the filet mignon, Oscar style. Do yourself a favor and make sure that Alexander's is in your rotation.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I haven't been here is a VERY long time. So long ago- it was their old location. They were packed on entry and were goi g to have us wait a minute for our reservation. They noticed someone in our party that was old/walker/ difficulty standing and they immediately seated upon seeing this. So kind and thoughtful. They didn't need to do this. Drink menu was great. Love the cocktail choices and they were really reasonable with pricing. Dinner- the walleye was fantastic and all the sides with it. Everyone else in the party loved their entrees too. In short, everything was off the rails - amazing. So good! We ordered three deserts too. I probably would not order the tiramisu again bc it was too sweet (yet I ate it all). Service was so kind and professional and the food was awesome. Pricing was pretty good too! A repeater for sure.

Yelp
Once again, fantastic food and service. Had a 5:45 reservation, so checked in and grabbed a drink at the bar. Our table was quickly ready, and we perused the menu. I got the Walleye Pike and my wife got the Stuffed Shrimp this time around. I got Blue Cheese dressing with my salad and got the crumbles (delicious!) and the dressing. My serving of Walleye was huge! And sooo tasty. My wife's shrimp was pretty decadent and very good. The house veggies were delicious, as were the potatoes. Our server, Romeo, was amazing, as were the bartenders, bidders, hosts, and everyone else we came across. Romantic atmosphere, as well as a vibrant bar scene. Just a great experience.

Yelp
Went for New Year's Eve. Food was fabulous. Two of us had the tuna (1 had the blackened tuna the other had the sesame tuna) and thought it was one of the best we've ever. Food is beautifully presented, too.

Yelp
Wonderful dinner at Alexander's in Fish Creek! The night before Easter Sunday looked like a good night to get some tasty seafood and this place never disappoints! We were seated promptly and the bar was bustling with customers. Our server was the sweetest ever! Miriam did a great job with everything and made sure we were all good:) We started with the drinks, Oysters, escargot, and shrimp cocktail. All we're so good! The escargot was my favorite! The puff pastry and mushrooms with the garlic butter were so unique and honestly even better than the classic escargot dish. The shrimp cocktail was good but not a ton of shrimp for the price. The main dishes were super yummy! Shrimp carbonara was so rich and creamy with bacon, peas and garlic. The lamb was cook perfectly although the sauce with it was a little too much and overpowered the meat but without it, it was awesome! The Cioppino was delicious too. Piled high with shrimp, scallops, lobster tails and coated in a rich tomato sauce. WOW! Would get this again next time! The portions were a bit big for the entrees so I would splurge on drinks and appetizers and an entree to share maybe. Overall though, we left happy and definitely full!

Yelp
Early March getaway to Door and opted to try Alexander's. We look forward to our next visit; please read all :) Although the food was nicely presented, I was hopeful for a better taste from my scallop pesto entree. I found the scallops to be lacking the sweetness and flavor of scallops. Additionally, I was hopeful for strong pesto flavor to come through, but it did not. Overall this dish was lacking flavor and depth. However, the crab cake appetizer was as expected and my husband's entree was flavorful and enjoyed (I cannot recall his choice; one of the features). Additionally, both of our salads were fresh and flavorful. But what we LOVED here at Alexander's was our exceptional service from Romeo; he was wonderful in being so prompt in all the courses, but not being overly bothersome. It has been quite some time since we had such professional service; we almost couldn't believe it! Romeo never left us wanting for anything and he did his professional part in suggestive selling, properly timed course delivery and clearing. What we also LOVED about Alexander's was the dessert list. Ohmygoodness, it was hard to choose as every one on the list would be my own personal "playlist." We had the peanut butter torte and the carrot cake--both of these were exceptional! The peanut butter one, however, I literally can't stop thinking about it and may drive to DC just to go eat that again! We love to have dessert, but so many times it's never suggested...which makes no sense. Here at Alexander's, our server, Romeo, indeed presented dessert and after dinner beverages. We definitely would return. Although I wasn't thrilled with my entree, there are far too many positives in this place to not return. It's clear and obvious they care about what they do and the experience they create for Guests. And lastly, some folks sitting at the bar shouted "thank you, have a good night!" I would assume they may be owners, but even if not, they may be regulars that recognize the importance of a farewell. I can't even tell you the number of hosts we've passed on an exit of many other restaurants and they don't even say "thank you" or "good night." We hope our second visit will be just as enjoyable. PS-no pics as we like to enjoy phoneless dining

Yelp
I've been coming up to Door County for 25 years and ate at Alexander's when they first opened. My boyfriend and I stopped in last month and I was reminded how great this place is! We ate at the bar and Bartender Jason made our night! We ordered a few cocktails and started chatting with Jason and a few others sitting near us. Before we knew it, they announced last call for the kitchen so we ordered. It was a Tuesday night so it was Cold Water Australian Lobster Tail special night. We both ordered the lobster and filet combo and it was delicious! The lobster tails were huge and the filets were tender and perfectly cooked! We are from Chicago and I would put this meal up against any high-end Chicago restaurant. Awesome service, delicious food and good people!

Yelp
We came in late March for mini vacation. We have never tried Alexander's before. Our experience at Alexander's was an amazing. The environment was elegant. The food presentation was beyond beautifully. I had the special meal, Sea Bass with asparagus and mashed potatoes mixed in with lobster sauce(that was out of imagination, but what a perfect flavor I ever had)! My husband had the steak which he said the cut and how it was cooked. The desserts were so delicious. Definitely will come back again.

Amy H.

Yelp
Extremely good food in a lovely setting. Not a mind blowing culinary experience, but delicious. We all had the broiled whitefish with a cup of lobster bisque. The scalloped potatoes were a bit salty but okay, green beans were yummy. The lobster bisque was a bit thin and shy on lobster bits, but good overall flavor. Our server was lovely and the ambiance was nice.

Kayla J.

Yelp
We absolutely love Alexander's! We've been here many times and nothing disappoints. There are so many wonderful options that it is always hard to choose, but you can't go wrong.

Kelli K.

Yelp
First off- make sure you make reservations. Our waiter was Kevin, and he was fantastic. We had my 6 year old with us, so when we thought the wait was going to be longer than what we expected with our reservation we considered heading to our usual spot. However, the host helped us along to get us in on time. The food was great. I had pesto encrusted scallops, and a sangria. If 10/10 get them both again. Desert we had crème brûlée. Which was also fabulous.

Michael F.

Yelp
Great upscale supper club atmosphere. Busy without feeling crowded. Extremely friendly, informative, and helpfull waiters and attendants. The crispy duck with cherry sauce was very good, as were the au gratin potatoes, caeser salad, hot artichoke and gorgonzola spread..... and cocktails were quite good. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We will be back!!!

Jackie V.

Yelp
As supper club enthusiasts, we have been to many supper clubs, and Alexander's is near the top. We appreciate that they take reservations. We were seated promptly. For drinks we had the old fashioned and. a Door County margarita. Both were very good, with the preference going to the old fashioned. Our entrees came with salads that were tasty with good dressing g. For entrees, I had the blackened whitefish special with lobster mashed potatoes, asparagus and corn relish. Wow! Hubbie had the Wednesday night perch special with came with potatoes and fresh beans. He declared it as sone of the best perch he has had and he doesn't usually like beans! Our server was very efficient checked on us throughout the evening. They made sure our water glasses were full. For dessert we shared the banana banshee ice cream drink which was delicious. We can't wait to return.

Ann L.

Yelp
Alexander's is one of our usual stops on our visits to Door County, and our most recent visit was just a few weeks ago, mid-September. My previous review still holds true, so see that one as well. This was definitely the most crowded place we encountered on our visit, so if you're not ready to dine in a crowded setting, after walking through a crowded bar, I'd suggest maybe waiting a bit longer. Staff were wearing masks, but the diners weren't of course. Definitely make a reservation; even on a weeknight in September they were booked solid which is unusual this late in the season. Anyway, the food was delicious as always! Again, don't expect creative dishes here. This is what I call "classy supper club" fare. I had the duck with cherry sauce which is always excellent. The peanut butter chocolate torte for dessert was a rich wonderful treat. Service is always good, and they were definitely short staffed, but somehow were keeping up with the very busy dining room.

Faith P.

Yelp
The food was great, but the host is extremely rude. when my partner and i came in to check in for our reservation he stuck his finger in my boyfriend's face? then we stood around and waited for 45 minutes. we only knew they were running behind because we overheard the host tell another couple that came in and hugged him. he then pointed out a seat that was going to be called so they could sit despite us already waiting for 20 minutes at this point. he later did this again. seems very much like if you don't know the host, you're not going to be respected, we felt as though our business was not wanted. the old balding host completely ruined our experience, and i would not recommend eating here unless you have a relationship with said host, as you will not get the service you're paying for.

William Z.

Yelp
Wonderful Door Country super club. Great selection on menu served to your specifications. Service was great. As atmosphere very elegant. Highly recommend.

Linda B.

Yelp
Other then the truly bitchy hostess this place was fabulous. We tried to call for a reservation several times but their phone had a beeping sound every time. We took a chance and the hostess was so rude. She told us it would be at least an hour, we said fine we will have a drink in bar. We ordered and enjoyed cherry margaritas and cherry martinis. After 1 hour I went to check on progress. She snapped at me that's why you need reservations. OK, we waited another 20 mins and a table became available. Dinner was truly delicious. I ordered the Roasted Duck Breast with cherry sauce (it is Door County after all) and was served a leg- thigh, beautifully dressed with cherry sauce and wild rice. My 3 friends we also thrilled: a filet mignon, an Italian pasta dish and Cherry BBQ Salmon. Beautifully presented. All in all a wonderful relaxed evening. (Other than hostess)

Joe D.

Yelp
Nice. A classic Wisconsin Supper Club. Good food good drinks. Check with restaurant for hours of operation.

Ruth M.

Yelp
We recently visited Alexander's during our summer and fall visits to Door County. When we arrived the first time the hostess was extremely rude and made us feel like and inconvenience. She did the same to other diners as well. ( we were seated not far from the hostess desk and could hear her. We thought maybe she was having a bad day, but she was the same way during our next visit. Our first dinners were good, the pork chop and the roasted duck. our second visit the oysters were super small and over cooked, the duck was dry and rubbery this time and I ordered Seafood Vol-Av-Vent (one of the highest priced items on the menu) and it was really bad. The puffed pastry was under cooked and was gummy. The sauce was so salty that I actually had to scrap it off the seafood in order to eat it. I contacted Alexander's and was told the owner would call me. That never happened and I can tell they really don't care about their customers because I've seen bad comments about a rude hostess listed since 2017 and the food is hit or miss. We'll miss from now on since there are so many other find dining restaurants in Door County and they appreciate their customers.

Stephen A.

Yelp
Really obnoxious attitude. We wanted to go for dinner, called the reservation line for 1 1/2 hours, always busy. Stopped in on our way back from dinner elsewhere, very unpleasant "host" told me "we don't answer that line when we're open." Huh? Not even a message? Anyway, no possibility insight of a table before October. What a way to run a restaurant.

Paula J.

Yelp
Delectable food, tasty drinks, and impeccable service. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Door County!

Vince H.

Yelp
Great service! Never have I been to a steak restaurant and been served so timely. From the minute we sat down, they were attentive and almost immediately after we ordered the apps and starters came. The place was packed right at 5 PM, and for a good reason. I had the cowboy ribeye which was cooked to perfection, just a tiny bit too salty, but still great. Our whole groups steaks were all cooked to perfection and we were astonished about how great the service was. I'd highly recommend!

Sayeed K.

Yelp
Food was above average, servers were attentive. Where I have issue however is the timeliness of reservations. I made reservations over a week in advance for 2 people for 6:30pm. When we arrive at 6:30, we were told there's no tables available. They gave us a pager and asked us to take a seat along with a couple of dozen other people. 45 minutes later we were seated. What's the point of making a reservation if it isn't honored? Just make the seating a first come-first served and make it equal for everyone.

A R.

Yelp
Tried to celebrate our 28th anniversary. Arrived a few minutes ahead of our reservation time, and proceeded to wait for 45 minutes past our reservation time. I ordered my steak medium well and it came so rare that our server immediately said "that looks very rare" and offered to take it back to be corrected. He brought it back completely black and charred to a burned crisp and it was literally inedible. I ended up only eating a few bites of potatoes for dinner (those were cold when the plate came back). I never ate one bite of the steak I paid for and no one cared. I'm in no way picky or difficult, I never send food back or complain, this was just a terribly prepared plate of food. I was sad we wasted one of our three nights of vacation dinners on this restaurant as it just wasn't a good experience. I highly suggest Shoreline restaurant instead-we had a wonderful meal there and our reservation time was honored.

Brandy K.

Yelp
My husband I and came to Door County to celebrate a post surgery recovery. I've had a lot of complications post surgery and as a result have some severe food allergies. We decided to call to see if we could get a reservation at Alexander's because a friend recommended them highly for their gluten free menu. While I know it was very last minute, the person that answered the phone scoffed at my husband and said if he wanted a reservation he could call back next month. I was fine knowing they didn't have availability, but the rude tone and disrespect shown was unbelievable for a restaurant with such high regard. Im very disappointed in the interaction and as someone that owns a business, I would never be so rude. Though we travel here often, Alexander's will never be on our list of places to dine for future occasions. Simply unacceptable.

M B.

Yelp
The food was fantastic as well as the service and atmosphere ! I had Seafood Vol-Au-Vent it was a blend of scallops, shrimp and lobster in a lobster sauce on a puff pastry shell ! My husband had the Walleye Pike and it was a huge piece of fish. This is the place to go if you are looking for a great meal. I can't wait to go back again !!

Lj S.

Yelp
Exceptional. Both the food and the service. Even short handed, you wouldn't notice. The service was awesome and professional. I would highly recommend reservations but we dropped in early and were able to get a seat before the crowds showed up. We started the night off with the bourbon smash cocktail and the blackened scallops appetizer special. Both were fantastic. I could eat a pile of those scallops. I had the New York strip, with roasted garlic and gorgonzola butter, and my date had the cioppino. The steak was cooked perfectly and the cioppino was excellent with shrimp, scallops, crab and artichoke hearts and just a touch of heat. We finished off the evening sharing a slice of one of the best key lime pies I've ever had. Here is a little tip. In the desert menu you can buy a round of drinks for the kitchen to show your appreciation. Well done everyone.

Lynn J.

Yelp
Great food and wonderful service. Everyone is so happy and helpful. From the appetizers, soup, salad, main course has absolutely top-notch.

Jerry M.

Yelp
Terrific food, have been going here for over 10 years. Part of our annual treks to Door County. Never disappoints!

Joan N.

Yelp
Great place and could eat there every night. Cherry salmon is great with green beans and scalloped potatoes. Service is great.

Ccwriter V.

Yelp
I haven't been to this restaurant in years. Been hearing lots of good things about it from others. We were seated at the enclosed patio surrounded by windows. Lovely. Our waiter, Mark, was the BEST! I asked for a side glass of ice to add cubes to my wine. This was the only waiter I've encountered to bring a spoon with the ice. Nice touch. Portions are generous. My walleye was a nice size and very good. My partner had the shrimp scampi. This was enough for a second meal ! Soup or salad are included with the dinner. Our dessert was a delicious cheesecake that was complementary for my birthday. Another nice touch and added bonus.

Barb M.

Yelp
We had a group of 10 eat here 2 nights ago. We had a fantastic experience. We were seated at a round table with lovely views of the garden. Our server did not rush us. The lobster bisque was disappointing (too thin) but my beef tenderloin with crab and Hollandaise sauce (Oscar style) was very good. Others had walleye, steak, Italian stuffed pork chop and duck and were all very happy. We are regular visitors to Door Co and will definitely go back to Alexander''s.

M K.

Yelp
We had our anniversary dinner tonight at Alexander's in Door County. It was excellent! We had been here once before for our anniversary. You can't go wrong going to Alexander's! Our server, Claudia, was awesome and thorough. Very efficient and great personality and service. We enjoyed having her serve us. I had the filet mignon and my husband had the duck. Both meals were delicious. It came with soup, salad and the sides. They gave us one complimentary dessert for our anniversary. My husband had the carrot cake and I had he flourless chocolate cake. Both were great! We left there in a food coma. We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary dinner and thank you to everyone at Alexander's for making it memorable and enjoyable! Alexander's is a great place to celebrate a special day or to have dinner anytime.

William L.

Yelp
The food was great, the service was good (it was crowded, but but still efficient), and the ambiance was fabulous, with fantastic garden views and even a few hummingbirds. It's well worth the visit, and we will be back!

Judy L.

Yelp
Alexander's is one of the best restaurants we have gone to in a long time. We arrived at 4:45 on a Wednesday without making a reservation. it was our 48th wedding anniversary and just didn't think about making a reservation. The hostess said not to worry - she gave us a beeper and said let her seat all the other people with reservations and then she would see what she has. It only took less than 1/2 hour and we were seated. The waiter was excellent and the staff were very attentive to all the guests. The food was outstanding - we had King crab cakes as an appetizer that were out of this world. we had their perch special that was extremely delicious. Sorry no room for dessert. We highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Door County.

Ali F.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Alexander's. Came here with my bf while on vacation in Door County for my birthday dinner. We were seated on the indoor "porch" area, which was lovely- they have hummingbird feeders right outside the windows, and there were tons of them flitting around during our meal! The only thing I'd say for the ambiance is that it was quite cold (we heard multiple tables complain to their servers about this) and the lights were pretty bright- they should have been a bit more dim for the evening. However, the food was excellent. They started with a bread basket of warm french bread and butter, and I admittedly ate way too much of this! We also had the shrimp cocktail, which was 5 large shrimps at $10- a bit high for the amount of shrimp, but not outrageous. I had the filet with gorgonzola which was cooked perfectly medium rare, and was served with veggies and parmesan scalloped potatoes. The filet was incredible. I really liked the pan sauce it was served with. An unexpected standout was the potatoes- they were pleasantly crispy around the edges but fluffy and creamy on the inside. Amazing. For dessert, we shared a chocolate torte of sorts, filled with ganache and topped with ice cream. This was heavenly! Even though I was stuffed, I ate my full half. Overall it was a great experience, and our server was attentive and friendly. I'll definitely be back for a nice meal next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Defiantly make reservations if you are visiting this restaurant. We had a 6pm reservation, arrived to the restaurant about 20 minutes early, and were able to be seated early. Hostess was polite. Main bar area, and waiting area, dark and intimate. The main dining areas were bright, clean. Comfortable. We sat on a enclosed porch area, is what it appeared to be to me. Only drawback was there was a larger party behind us, which made it hard for my friend and I to converse. I cannot fault the restaurant for that group. Waitress was very nice. Table staff kept water glasses and ice tea glass full. We both started off with the Alexander salad. Amazing. A definite must have. Greens, blackberries, strawberries, pecans and a raspberry vinaigrette dressing that was just the perfect flavor. I had the stuffed shrimp. Very tasty. Nice big pieces of shrimp. 6 in total. Served with au gratin potatoes, and green beans. My friend had the chicken. She said this dish was very good. She had the salad as well. Since it was my birthday, the dessert was on the house and very yummy. A restaurant you must visit if you are in Fish Creek.

Rathindra D.

Yelp
Was there last week on Wednesday. Loved the place! Service, food, drinks, ambiance all excellent. Had the pan fried walleye that was just delicious! Recommend this place to all!

Daniel H.

Yelp
Don't waste your time!! If you want a really good meal with great service go to Barringer's or The Loft!! We had a 7:15 reservation for (2), arrived at 7:05 and was told they were just now seating the 6:30 reservations. We said that's fine and proceeded to wait in the bar where we shared a bar table with a couple who had a 7:00 reservation. Bar area was very warm as if the air conditioning was not running. Other couple were called at 7:45 and we were called a few min later. We made our dinner selections right away and had placed our Pasta orders with a wine pairing before 8:00. Brought our 2 glasses of chilled wine immediately and mediocre salads a few min later. (They had already run out of the soup specials) we then proceeded to wait and wait as other tables were seated, ordered and served. A table of (4) who were in line to check in as we were already waiting in the bar had ordered and were eating while we still waited. Another table of (2), who were seated at least 10 min after us, had finished their meal and received their check while we still waited. They had ordered steaks and had simple pasta dishes. Waiter finally came by and said our meals were almost ready, it was now almost 9:00. Our pasta dishes arrived and were hot but noodles and separate vegetable bowl were both in a pool of oil and grease, couldn't eat either of them! Waiter then just walked by and dropped our check on the table, did not ask how our meal was, desert, nothing. By now we had moved our plates to the side as they were both inedible. Waiter came back for payment and asked if we wanted a box! We said No! the meal was awful, we couldn't even eat it. He said sorry, how about I just bring you a check for the wine? I said that would be fine. He came back a few min later with a check for (2) glasses of wine and (2) $7.00 salads! I've had better salads at McDonalds!! I asked what happened to the check for just (2) glasses of wine you offered since our meal was so late and not even edible? He said "oh, you just wanted to pay for the wine?" I said that's what you offered! to make up for the late service and horrible food! He said fine and stomped off to get another check! Finally received a check for just the wine, paid it and left. Will never go back again!!

Yelp
Incredible bar, food and service. A must if you visit Door County. Get reservations early, they fill up fast on weekends! Karen behind the bar is the best. The owner, Bruce Alexander is visible and great with customers. Love the dessert option of "buying the kitchen a round"! They do a great job and this is a wonderful way to recognize their work Erica, our server was the best we've had at a restaurant in a long time. Alexander's is on our itinerary for every visit to Door County.

Yelp
We had an outstanding meal last Friday night. The four of us ordered different entrees and we were all pleased. Our server also did a great job.

Yelp
I originally visited Alexander's about 10 years ago and have been meaning to stop and eat here ever since! The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is outstanding. You'll want to make reservations, as Alexander's is a popular place for dinner. Although, they have a great bar area if you don't have a reservation, so you can enjoy a cocktail and relax while you wait for your table. Even with reservations, we enjoyed a drink at the bar. My daughter enjoyed asking the bartender to make her a special drink, which she loved. Sometime you just get tired of kiddie cocktails! The lemon drop martini was pretty delicious and the old fashioneds were equally delicious. The bar was full of vacationers and locals and we had a great time chatting and visiting with other patrons and the bartenders. For dinner, we started with the King Crab Cakes, which melt in your mouth! The filet mignon was outstanding, full of flavor, tender and it was delicious! The filet was served with a delicious blend of vegetables and mashed potatoes. We would have loved dessert, but we were pleasantly full! We will be sure to come back and visit Alexander's, a rare find!

Yelp
It's really surprising that there are such a large number of positive reviews. Ate there tonight. Water was refilled twice before a waiter showed up. Drink order took 7 minutes to fill. Ordered cowboy steak. It arrived - no protruding bone. Waiter pointed out small embedded bone. Laughable. Under no circumstance can I recommend this place. There are plenty of other dining choices in Door County. Everyone of them will beat this pathetic restaurant.

Yelp
We made reservations even though it was early April. Even at 7 pm, the place was pretty lively. Our server, Kevin, was great! Attentive without pushing us. My wife had the cosmo - excellent! Not sweet at all. Very adult. I had Buffalo Trace bourbon - *very* fair pour! The wine pours (by the glass) were also excellent. We had the Sea Bass with Risotto (lots of lemon) and Cherry Duck. Both first-rate! The veggie sides were varied and tasty. We also loved the salads, opting for the blue dress dressing. We were having such a great time, we had dessert: peanut butter chocolate torte (approx one million calories) and a phenomenal chocolate drink (the recipe was, we think, chocolate, chocolate, vodka, chocolate liquor, and chocolate). Our only regret - no expresso or cappuccino. Please fix that. We had a great time!
