Yelp
Early March getaway to Door and opted to try Alexander's.
We look forward to our next visit; please read all :)
Although the food was nicely presented, I was hopeful for a better taste from my scallop pesto entree. I found the scallops to be lacking the sweetness and flavor of scallops. Additionally, I was hopeful for strong pesto flavor to come through, but it did not. Overall this dish was lacking flavor and depth.
However, the crab cake appetizer was as expected and my husband's entree was flavorful and enjoyed (I cannot recall his choice; one of the features). Additionally, both of our salads were fresh and flavorful.
But what we LOVED here at Alexander's was our exceptional service from Romeo; he was wonderful in being so prompt in all the courses, but not being overly bothersome. It has been quite some time since we had such professional service; we almost couldn't believe it! Romeo never left us wanting for anything and he did his professional part in suggestive selling, properly timed course delivery and clearing.
What we also LOVED about Alexander's was the dessert list. Ohmygoodness, it was hard to choose as every one on the list would be my own personal "playlist." We had the peanut butter torte and the carrot cake--both of these were exceptional! The peanut butter one, however, I literally can't stop thinking about it and may drive to DC just to go eat that again!
We love to have dessert, but so many times it's never suggested...which makes no sense. Here at Alexander's, our server, Romeo, indeed presented dessert and after dinner beverages.
We definitely would return. Although I wasn't thrilled with my entree, there are far too many positives in this place to not return. It's clear and obvious they care about what they do and the experience they create for Guests.
And lastly, some folks sitting at the bar shouted "thank you, have a good night!" I would assume they may be owners, but even if not, they may be regulars that recognize the importance of a farewell. I can't even tell you the number of hosts we've passed on an exit of many other restaurants and they don't even say "thank you" or "good night."
We hope our second visit will be just as enjoyable.
PS-no pics as we like to enjoy phoneless dining
