We loved it! We went there for a delicious brunch and also bought fresh cold-pressed juices, coffee and sourdough bread there many times during our time in Calgary and Alforno never disappointed! Liza was the most outstanding & friendly waitress! Made our time so special. Highly recommend visiting :-)

We recently visited this lovely place, and we were truly impressed. The place is elegant and stylish, and everything we tasted was absolutely delicious. What stood out to us was the wide variety of options on the menu, along with the clear explanations for each item, something you don’t always see elsewhere. Overall, a wonderful experience, and we would gladly come back again!

Google
What makes for a perfect brunch place: food that tastes as good as it looks, an open a light-filled open second story dining area, and service that is not only friendly but efficient. We had tomato basil soup, Greek yogurt parfait, a mushroom truffle omelette served with arugula salad, overflowing with all kinds of mushrooms and took an espresso cookie, almond croissant, and fruit tarts to go. All delightful. The raspberry passions fruit tart was so good that it will bring me back for more....

Google
A really nice cafe/ dinner spot! The food and drinks are good. Nothing too special. Seems like a date spot tbh. Casual but can also be for special occasions. If you want to have dinner here, the price compared to portion size is quite high.

Been here so many times to count. One of my favourite places in all of Calgary. It’s located next to the peace bridge, and the atmosphere is so nice. For food I always get the fun guy pizza but I don’t really like any of the other dinner options. However the desserts are to die for.

We are from Florida on vacation here to Banff. Decided to stop by here based on the reviews and had an excellent meal. We are traveling with 3 wild boys and I understand it’s not easy to host us. When we came in, we had a waitress named Veronica and she was 100/10. She was kind, on point and handled everything with us care! Highly recommend asking specifically for her. Thank you Veronica qnd Alforno Bakery for being apart of our itinerary.

I had a wonderful experience at Alforno Cafe & Bakery. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the ambiance was warm, modern, and inviting. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal or coffee. Highly recommended!

Google
I really love bread, so I’m always on the lookout for new dessert spots. After a run in the park, I found this place on my way home and finally decided to check it out. Every single cake looked delicious, so it was really hard to choose just one. The cake I picked had cherries in it—it was sweet, moist, and absolutely delicious. I also tried a small lemon tart. If you like sour flavors, I definitely recommend it! At first, I thought the white topping was meringue, but it was more like marshmallow—super sweet, so it wasn’t really my thing. But the tart itself was great!

Yelp
No matter the time of day, Alforno always seems to be hopping! The front counter staff is pretty efficient, however, so I've never had to wait too long to place an order. This time around, I got an apple cinnamon scone and a mini apple fritter to go. I made a cup of tea when I got home to go with the sweet treats I had gotten. Unfortunately, the apple fritter was maybe one of the worst donuts I've ever had. It was oily beyond belief and the sugar in the cinnamon sugar swirl had burnt, too. Thankfully the scone was pretty decent, if not a little bit plain. It was a bit dry but went nicely with my tea. The prices weren't bad for what we got ($7.50 total for 1.5 baked goods), but some of the price tags on other items were steep. I would hope that they're better quality than what we had.

Yelp
We went here for brunch and had lovely eggs benedicts and London Fog lattes, and split a delicious cinnamon bun. They also had tons of gourmet breakfast and lunch menu options and fresh juices, as well as an all-day coffee bar and gourmet pizza takeout. It's a super cool, pretty Italian bakery/cafe/restaurant perfect for coffee, a bite, lunch, anything really. The interior is super modern and bright. Expensive but worth it. Great service you can takeout or dine in.

Yelp
Checked out Alforno Bakery & Cafe for a light takeout lunch. Walk to the counter for takeout orders. We dropped in on a busy Tuesday afternoon. They had sandwiches, bread, desserts and macarons in their display cases but also serve breakfast, pizza and pasta. - Turkey & pear sandwich ($12.50) - baguette was nicely toasted up. Didn't get much pear flavour, reasonable portion of sliced turkey. Flavours won't blow you away but decent enough. - Raspberry cheesecake ($7.50) - not too sweet or overly cheesy. This is my buddy's usual go to dessert. - Blueberry lemon tart ($7.25) - blueberry overpowered the lemon flavour. Okay. AB&C's a little pricey for what you get.

Yelp
Great quick spot for coffee and breakfast. Their baked items are always great but their actual breakfast is solid too. I had the bacon egg sandwich and it was buttery and filling.. plus well priced! The aesthetics and service are both great. Perfect place to stop before hitting the river walk.

Yelp
After being seated for 45 minutes, we have yet to receive our order. Alforno is cute and the bakery looks delicious, but the service was slower than maple syrup coming out of a tree. Literally, so--slow. It's regretful as I would love to come back but who has time to waste like this? Staff communication also seems poor as the espresso machine was down while we were waiting an eternity to be seated but came back up to service. When I tried to order a latte, I was told the machine was still down when clearly our table neighbors just received espresso drinks. Baked goods looked good but I wouldn't come hungry bc you will remain hungry, for a very long time.

Yelp
Yummy yum You can smell the aroma of baked goods as you come around the corner The scone was delish as was the coffee A great place to work as not too crowded or noisy Nice touch with the water bottles !

Yelp
It's a quaint and lovely café located in a nice and quiet neighbourhood called Eau Claire. It's the perfect place if you want to grab a snack, coffee or just go for pastries. It's one of my favourite bakeries here in Calgary. The service is fast and their staff is nice. The prices are higher but the food and pastries quality is great. This location is very stylish and trendy. It's always clean and well-organized. We went for a snack and we got some hot drinks and pastries. Everything was absolutely delicious! A thing to consider: if you want to go for breakfast or brunch, you might not get a table easily because it would be really busy but it is worth the try.

Yelp
Located in a cozy corner..it's like a daytime Speakeasy. Consistently high quality food, coffees and deserts. Ideal for business and social chats! Warm and inviting!!! A definite must if you are out for a stroll along the Bow River and Princess Island park. Excellent service too!!!!!

Yelp
I was very upset about the food and service we got at Alforno Bakery & Cafe. 1, I got a cappuccino to go. It was SUPER SUPER SUPER hot!! My tongue was like boiled after one sip. Now it's been over 12 hours and my tongue is still numb. I talked to the staff and they just said "Oh we make it hot because people might complain it's not hot enough". No apologies at all!!! And it's not just mine, my friends ordered another two coffee to go and both of them were super hot. 2, we got a BKT sandwich to go. I expect it to be grilled to crispy outside and soft inside. It was heated in microwave not grilled, which made the sourdough soft and moistured. 3, To go drinks pick up is at a different counter but no one told us when we order. My friends waited a long time until we find out it's a different pick up location 4, I ordered a burrata with melon. The staff pointed me to a box said it's this big. When I got it it was half the size. I'm OK with less food but it's wrong expectation

Yelp
What a cute and bright cafe on a cold and rainy day! My friends and I ordered the Lemon Pie French Toast, BKT, English breakfast tea, and caramel and vanilla lattes. The French toast was very sweet but I enjoyed the lemon curd. The latte had the perfect milk-caramel-coffee ratio and was just what I needed.

Yelp
Such a happy place with all the happy food! I love my visit here. Bright, light, white, high ceiling spot with perfect menu: pizza, pasta and salad! With wine and lattes. Yummm! Irina from front was so friendly! She made the visit better. I wasn't hungry but I also wanted to try their food. Got their fun guy ( funghi) pizza, a latte and petit four! Just Yumm. I came here during a weekday around 8 pm. It was packed and busy. A lot of girls ( perfect girl spot!) and a few dates. Such a vibe. I love it. My latte came with a little happy birthday on it. Super cute! Pizza: took a good half hour or more. But the mushrooms, the black truffle, the dough. It was worth the wait. And totally delicious birthday meal. Birthday week meal but this would be top 3! Yumm Yumm. I couldn't possibly eat more to try their cakes ( I did get takeout box full of pizza). Petit four ( tried the mini cheesecake) The only issue is: I couldn't stay longer. Or return for a repeat visit! Such a gorgeous, happy spot with happy food. I love everything about it.

Yelp
Came twice during our short stay in the city. Breakfast both days. Seated with our dogs on the spacious covered patio. Excellent service. Tasty food. Turkish eggs were amazing.

Yelp
You've heard the saying " Don't judge a book by its cover." Well Alfonso Bakery & Cafe falls into that category as if you are not a local one would assume ABC is a bakery coffee shop. Far from the truth as I was taken here by some colleagues for dinner and everything was over the top that we ordered and shared.

Audrey G.

Yelp
We're traveling from Florida and found this wonderful restaurant and bakery. We had lattes and I had the Turkish eggs that came with the most perfect sourdough toast buttered well, just delightful. The feta base is creamy, and luscious for dipping the bread and the eggs were poached to perfection. My husband had the Berry French toast and said it was the best he has ever had. We are foodies and this place did not disappoint.

Yelp
Alforno is a lovely quaint little cafe, just by the Eau Claire area, that makes you feel like you're in a french patisserie. The aroma of their coffee wafts down the street, and instantly draws you in. I was seated inside rather quickly, where they have a lovely fireplace, and calming music playing. Ambience is top notch. I will say their coffee is nothing to write home about, but their food is excellent. I got their "soup of the day" which was tomato basil, and it was wonderful and creamy, and the bread was thick and fluffy. Definitely recommend for an afternoon meal or early morning brunch!
google avatar

Yelp
I have recently revisited Alforno and HAD the best experience! I tried their jalapeño dip and baked Brie and charred cabbage and braised meatball for lunch and it was amazing! Braised meatball I wouldn't order again lacked some flavour but the tomato sauce was delicious with the bread Highly recommend the charred cabbage and baked Brie and jalapeño dip

Yelp
It was one of those beautiful sunny afternoons that Calgary is known for! We went for a walk around Princess Island Park and then found this great place to grab a sandwich and specialty coffee! There was a line...which in my opinion is always a good sign! We were going to get a pizza but the wait for the pizza was a bit too long for us so we went with the sandwiches. Oh my they were good! I ordered the Brie and Ham Sandwich and my husband got the Cuban, both were toasted on beautiful baguettes. Mine was really yummy but oh my...the Cuban was ridiculously good! I am a mustard lover and the Cuban was heavy on the mustard and the flavour was incredible! I tried to do some negotiations for more than a bite...we settled with trading a 1/4 of my sandwich with a quarter of the Cuban! We also shared a piece of their carrot cake...it was perfect...it was super moist, fresh and the icing...so good! Next time we are in Calgary we will definitely need to come back for one of their pizzas!

Yelp
I'm packing my bags and moving into Alforno. The white-brick exterior with black trim, raw-wood accents and a gorgeous patio with both flowers and twinkle lights? *Round of applause from both Joanna Gains and myself.* We pulled the gold door handles back and were greeted by an array of yummy-smelling baked goods and gorgeously-designed cakes. You can choose to either sit down to stay, or order one of their to-go items. They had a lot of freshly-made sandwiches, both on French bread and croissants. They also had fancy, individual pastries as well as mini tarts, scones, and cookies. We both got warmed croissants with ham and melted cheese to go. We walked to the river walk a few steps away and sat in the gorgeous sun, watching bikers go by. It was the perfect morning. Definitely come here for breakfast, snacks or dessert!

Yelp
It's a no for me. As much as this place is appealing to look at and take cute little photos on the outside and inside, the customer service here could be better. I completely get it that sometimes tourists can be a little rough to understand and are completely all over the place with their orders, but my friends and I weren't clueless as to what we were ordering. We ordered to go but we didn't order side eye glances and rolls to go with our lattes and iced coffees. Some things just don't belong with coffee. The coffee was good. That's basically it.

Yelp
Alforno, more like alforn-YES! I couldn't find a single thing wrong with this place, and that's saying a lot. One of my biggest weaknesses as a parent is pointing out insecurities and weaknesses in my children. Seriously, they're not right, I don't know who did that. When we're in Alforno, those idiots won't stop making fools of themselves. But enough about them, this place. Seriously. Coffee- check. Water- so smooth. And the only thing that makes me feel better than sitting on the dryer downstairs is the blueberry scones when they're fresh out of the oven - wow ! Seriously, what's wrong with my children.

Yelp
My mocha was so good, very delicious and perfect. I ordered the breakfast bowl - bacon, smashed avocado, eggs and potato roti. It was so good, but I found an unripe halved avocado under the eggs. I gave it three stars because I've waited for an hour to have my breakfast. However, I didn't take any discount on the bill. The waitress tried their best, and they did wonderfully, but not at the front booth desk lady with a "not-want-to-work" attitude.

Yelp
Loved our experience!! It was so beautiful when we walked in, loved the aesthetic and the design of the cafe. Waited about 20mins which was fine as we were admiring all the baked goods to choose from. Servers were super nice. Ordered the s'mores hot chocolate and the americano. The hot chocolate ended up having a hair in it, advised the server and the manager came over, apologized and offered me a free coffee which was great as well as a dessert! For food, we were super satisfied and full!

Yelp
We came here for dinner and everything was fantastic! The bakery counter showcased a lot of delicious choices and we were shown to our table which was just a few steps above the bakery area. Our server was very friendly and provided some really great recommendations since it was our first time eating here. Their menu had a great assortment of pastas and pizzas. After selecting our bottle of wine we started with the meatballs as an appetizer, which were absolutely incredible! We each decided on a pasta dish for dinner, I went with the Smoked Short Rib Mezzi Paccheri and my fiancé went with the Pear and Gorgonzola Ravioli. Both pastas were insanely delicious and had a ton of flavor. The short rib was mixed Calabrian chilies which gave the pasta a real nice kick! We can't wait to come back again to try some of the other dishes that caught our eye! Such a fantastic experience!

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Monday. Open and aesthetic interior with modern furniture. It looked very promising and their pastries on on display looked really good. We were a party of three people and decided to all order pasta because we wanted a more filling meal. The food service was a bit slow and inconsistent. We all ordered at the same time but one pasta came in 10 minutes and the other two pastas came in half an hour. BUCATINI CARBONARA- the pasta was cooked well and this dish was flavorful. However carbonara dishes usually have a creamy texture and this dish was quite dry. ROASTED MUSHROOM ORECCHIETTE- this was my boyfriend's dish and he didn't like it. It was bland and didn't have much taste to it. CHICKEN CHORIZO TAGLIATELLE- this was probably the best pasta of the three. Ingredients mixed well and was the most flavorful. Still slightly dry as my friend noted. We also ordered a cute pig plum pistachio dessert. It was soft, sweet and perfect way to end the meal with. Next time I come here, I'll probably stick to just ordering the sweets and trying their sandwiches. It's a nice place to have coffee with friends but not a meal.

Yelp
I ordered the matcha latte based on the pictures from yelp. I think either they used a really bright colored filter or my barista was weak on the matcha, but my friend and I were disappointed. Taste more like steam milk w a hint of matcha. My friend loved their chocolate chip cookie and snickerdoodles. I like the almond croissant but it's not in the glass so check behind the cashier. Review pre covid*

Yelp
Great place to take family and friends! Menu items are delicious especially the baked goods. Love all the space indoor and outdoor. Clean and the staff are very pleasant. Always get wonderful service! Have been going here for years. It's my go to place to bring visitors and then a nice stroll around Prince's Island Park. Highly recommend this location. Close to lots of interesting amenities. Hop skip and a jump to Kensington too!!

John B.

Yelp
The baked-goods were tastey but way over priced. The coffee was terrible. I was excited to see that they had espresso macchiatos (because it's so rare to see those at a cafe...) but it wasn't even remotely close to being an actual espresso macchiato and it was grossly expensive considering the quality. The iced latte we got was also just 95% milk-- it looked/tasted like there was only one espresso shot in the entire 20 ounce drink. I suggest going somewhere else if you want coffee.

Yelp
Tried this little hidden gem while visiting my sister whom lives in the area. The place is bustling to say the least, guests were spread out evenly and distanced apart. Their menu is fairly interesting and please try their in house made ice cream it's delicious. We had a few other things but I never did grab a picture of them when I got to eating. Bought some of their offerings to take home, it was just that good. It's a nice spot nestle away amongst the condos in the area and a great small spot for a intimate romantic date. Planning in visiting on my next trip.

Yelp
This cafe looks like it came straight out of Pinterest. It's beautiful inside with accents of white marble and rose gold. There's lot of seating inside and an amazing outdoor patio. I ordered the carbonara, prosciutto and arugula pizza, and the cream puffs. The bacon in the carbonara was amazing, fatty and salty! I added some pepper to the pasta because the sauce was a little mild. The pizza was just okay to me, but I really liked the dough. Onto the cream puffs, they were so good!! I highly recommend ordering them! I tried the coconut and hazelnut and though both were delicious, the coconut was my favorite. If you're in town, this spot is perfect to relax and enjoy your meal.

Yelp
A+ for service, B- for vegetarian desserts (a lot of items had gelatin sourced from animals). Was excited to go for the second time, still really like the chocolate raspberry tart. Prob would try something new next.
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
This is a pretty cool place. Came here thinking of desserts and when I walked in, I found out I was wrong. I realized that this place is more of a soup and sandwich place. So instead I got the butternut squash soup. The soup came with a piece of herb toast and it was really good. The soup is definitely homemade. I loved it. The décor is interesting. Its sun roof is interesting. Looks like there are bats up there. Only issue is that its in a residential neighborhood so can be an issue in the winter time. This place is interesting.
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
The food here absolutely wonderful. The only thing I dislike is the portions tend to be on the smaller side for big guys like myself used to a bit larger in most venues. You really can't go wrong here with the food.

Kathy S.

Yelp
We are on a short trip from Vancouver. We've been on the patio for a Thursday lunch and Saturday brunch (today). Thursday was serve yourself and today was full service. It seems the server today was new to serving, but both days, the attitude of staff was absolutely stellar - the other stuff comes with experience, but you can't teach attitude! The pizza on Thursday was very good, as was the sandwich. Today, brunch was good (the potatoes needed salt - luckily my son had asked for S&P, so all was well.)

Yelp
Alforno Bakery & Cafe is an adorable cafe that I would love to visit again. It offers both indoor and outdoor dining. The mocha was amazing and it went perfectly with the cinnamon roll. Yum!!!!
google avatar

Kristen J.

Yelp
I'm usually such a fan of Alforno. However, I just got a pizza to go and it's super soggy in the middle and the bacon is completely uncooked and raw I suppose the only thing I can say is just it seems inconsistent.
google avatar

Vicki M.

Yelp
Beautiful little cafe near the river front with food and pastries executed well. However the price point is too high when compared to portions in my opinion and the service leaves a LOT to be desired. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was nothing special. Thankfully the fruit bowl was a decent size. Hubs ordered the Mafia breakfast option and although the ingredients were prepared well, the portion size was a joke. The chocolate raspberry tart I ordered to go was delicious but the chocolate chip cookie lacked many chocolate chips. London Fog needed to be stirred more as all the syrup ended up finally being tasted with my last sip - no spoon was offered to stir.

Yelp
Breakfast at Alforno was good! First table on Sunday morning, bright and early at 8 a.m. It was a cold morning and so was the restaurant. Soon, the heater came on and warmed up the restaurant. We had the following: 1) Crab Omelette - delicious and delicate 2) Gravlax Benny - Creamy and smooth. Just wish the ciabatta is not so hard. 3) Side of Blueberry Sausages - they are actually a hint of blue! Tasty. 4)Buttermilk Waffles - with strawberries, strawberry jam, lemon curd and whipped cream chees - Absolute heaven. All in all a good brekkie experience.

Yelp
Alforno is almost clinically clean... it's like a trendy operating theater ... for coffee ... and brunch ... and treats ... The espresso to go is good. Very good. Very. You'll have to double up in a 12 oz Americano to really savour the tight smoothness of the roast. That's some fine coffee. Very fine. The Carrot Cake is really darn good too. So good, I forgot to take a picture. The Ham & Cheese Croissant was so/so, but maybe I should have gotten it heated.
google avatar

Alisha K.

Yelp
Alforno is an upscale cafe and looks very fancy as soon as you enter with its high ceilings and big bright windows. You order your food and drinks at the counter but it is served at the table. We tried a couple of the cakes, a matcha latte, a cappuccino and an iced americano and we were generally satisfied with the drinks. I especially loved the cappuccino as it was strong and flavorful. The cakes on the other hand were a little disappointing. We tried the matcha citrus cake and the mango blueberry cheesecake; the flavours did not blend together very well and some bites were sweet while others were sour. Their presentation is obviously top notch and if that is something that you appreciate, this is the place for you. The staff was nice and courteous but not particularly welcoming.

Yelp
Another little gem by the Teatro group! Similar to their Royale restaurant, the ambiance is set as soon as you walk in the front doors with sunlight streaming through the huge vaulted skylights. Coupled with the minimalistic decor...this space is gorgeous! We found there to be ample seating around the restaurant, we opted for sitting at the coffee bar so we could watch the barista working his magic. The latte I ordered was good, made with fresh ground espresso beans, skim milk frothed till hot, and served with a little lump of raw sugar. The only suggestion I have is to make the specialty coffees with 2% milk, not skim unless specifically requested. Maybe that was an oversight, or maybe they had run out of anything other than skim, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I also ordered a meringue which was light and crunchy on the outside while soft and gooey in the center. All in all, good! Although we didn't order any substantial food, the family next to us had ordered lunch and it looked very good. Decent portion sizes and enticed us to try this place again for brunch or lunch next. I recommend giving them a try. The prices are inline with what the Teatro group usually charges, but from what I could tell the quality is as well.

Yelp
Items Ordered: Gluten Free Vanilla Rum Raisin Cake Almond Croissant Banana Cornflake Muffin Blueberry Clafoutis Pear Frangipane Tart Snickerdoodle Quinoa Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Recently opened by a longstanding local Restaurant Group, the highly polished space greeting wealthy Eau Claire residents with a fireplace for lounging and table service for breakfast, lunch, dinner or pastries, Alforno Bakery & Café purports a focus on nothing but the finest ingredients, though the actual execution reminisces more of the "Quick Casual" Panera with a touch more refinement, plus a license to serve Beer and Wine. No doubt a spacious and pleasant environment, a small market of locally produced goods and grab n' go options located right when facing glass cases filled with temptation, those arriving at Alforno early are greeted by shelves yet to be fully stocked plus a brief menu, the Ricotta Pancakes apparently quite popular, though the focus of this visit was entirely on the bakery. Finding service to be low on enthusiasm...or Coffee...the young lady behind the counter's flattened affect a rarity in the forty Alberta eateries visited during my stay, it was after some perusal that a total of seven items were selected, some of them already bagged and prepackaged including a kitchen sponge-reminiscent Vanilla Rum Raisin Cake that reaffirmed fears of gluten-free baking. Surprising finding not a single option still warm, the overly-firm Clafoutis actually still icebox cold, better bites were found in the flaky Pear Tart with sweet Almond Paste, thought the twice-baked Croissant lightly smeared with the same came across flaccid, the exterior nicely baked but the inside neither springy nor open. Next turning attention to a Muffin followed by two Cookies, the former well-conceived with a small stump and the top shellacked with crunchy Cornflakes over moist Banana Bread, the Cookies were a bit more hit and miss as the sugary Snickerdoodle was light in Cinnamon and a bit drier than expected while the Quinoa Oatmeal Raisin round was thankfully not over sweetened, but chewy in a way that is 'interesting' rather than pleasant.

Yelp
Came for lunch. Solid, solid four stars. Beautiful comfortable hip designed space with large sloping glass roof, let's in lots of natural light which makes the place bright, welcoming and cheery. Upset level lofty seating, fabulous premium organic coffees from single source farms. Secretary premium coffee and drinks bar area. Spotlessly clean with friendly, cheerful folks working there. Outdoor seating available in season. Fresh breads are delicious, food is simple but fresh and tasty, with organic options. Service is fast, but you're not rushed. Sufficient choice of sandwiches, pastas, pastries etc.Not sure if it's everyday but C$4.99 Mimosas!!

Yelp
I was in Calgary last week and stopped here for brunch. I had the Canadian ham eggs benny. The Hollandaise sauce was really good but the rest was only OK and didn't really stand out. Service was friendly however, there were a lot of bodies moving around but not a lot of efficiency. I noticed the server forgetting a few things on other tables and he had forgotten to bring me the hot sauce I requested. He was very apologetic though. The outdoor patio is a great little space with nice ambiance.

Yelp
I REALLY like Alforno, the place has a great design and the patio is adorable, I like the multi level seating and variety of table spaces. The fireplace upstairs is so cozy, it feels like you're in a really chic living room. The bike on the wall over the coffee station also gets a thumbs up from me - it makes for a great Instagram haha My only qualm with Alforno is it can take a little while to order, you need to line up and order first then take your number to your seat and I find it can take a little while to get to the till to order, with that said though I have always gotten a seat. Maybe the irresistible pastries make me extra impatient. Alforno has brunch, lunch and dinner options on their menu along with a wide assortment of pastries, baked goods and drink options. I've tried the pasta and thought it was excellent, so fresh and full of flavour! Their brunch options are also delicious, I really like sweet breakfast options and their french toast and pancakes are down right decadent, large portions and super filling! They also serve great lattes and you have to try a baked good or pastry, I often order a pastry to go and bring it home with me after my meal there.

Yelp
Came here because they're open later than most bakery-type places in downtown so we thought we'd try it out. The first thing I think is weird is that it seems like they're torn between being a restaurant and a cafe. If you order food, you're served like a restaurant but if you order baked goods or coffee, you get a number to take to your table where they come serve you. Coffee: I got a normal latte to drink. The coffee was pretty strong which I personally liked, but I can see how it's not for everyone. Our drinks came very spaced out from one another, timing-wise. One of them also came in a to-go cup but the others to stay?? Food: I got a slice of the chocolate cheesecake which was DELICIOUS (though pricey). My friend got a cinammon bun, which was served cold and was HARD AS ROCK. Service: Meh, everyone seemed pretty disinterested. Maybe because it was later in the day (8 pm) but still a bit off-putting Overall, it seems pretty hit or miss at Alforno. I'd probably go back if in the area, but maybe just for a coffee to go.

Yelp
I like it here! I've been a couple times. Super delicious desserts and hot drinks. Wouldn't recommend the pasta nights, very buttery and hard on the stomach. There's a warm fireplace and looks super clean and modern. Super basic girl place. Would recommend for a coffee date but it gets a bit loud and not a lot of places to sit during busy times.

Yelp
Was initially a little skeptical to visit this cafe after reading a few negative reviews. My fiancé decided to take a chance to see how it would go since the exterior looks too cute to miss out. And, I'm glad we did! First, not sure how service can be that bad when it is practically a self-served cafe, like most. You make your order up front, find your seat (plenty of seatings), and they bring your coffee and/ food out. They've got an area with cups, water, milk, silverware, napkins, etc for you to grab whenever or whatever you need. Coffee- was good! Pastry/baked goods- excellent! At least with the cream puffs I ordered. Not too sweet or heavy Food- was ok. Presentation was decent. Overall, cute place to hang out.

Yelp
K, so in my mind, this place has lost their focus for baked goodies. They've gotten rid of most of their decadent stuff and replaced it with croissant-type stuff, which I haven't tried yet. However, I went here for a full lunch and it was awesome! The Prosciutto and arugula pizza is really good - crispy crust, lots of quality toppings. And Thursday is $12 pizza day! yay! They also have discounted wine that day, too. I've seen few drool-worthy sandwiches there that I've been meaning to try - high quality bread/buns with cheeses and meats that are grilled to order (I believe). Also, my friend ordered their butternut squash soup that came in a bathtub-sized bowl and was super creamy, so one of these days I've gotta order that, too.

Yelp
My bestie and I were having a strong hankering for delish desserts at 8 in the evening. Most places are closed but we happened to find alforno open at this glorious time of need. We chose to buy the food and sit across from the counter. We ordered the lemon creme pie, matcha mouse cake and two macarons. It was so good and very happy there was gluten free options as well. We were chatting and then we saw the salted caramel cheese cake got cut up and my dresser loving self mistakenly said out loud, 'damn the cake can be bought by piece!?! I would have bought it' and went back to our convo. The owner I'm presuming came by and gave us a piece. For. Free. Wtf. It was actually the best dessert I've had that day. Love the service, the aesthetic, and of course the food. Will be here for more desserts and for the lox Benny for brunch!!!
