I love this restaurant! The food is so tasty and authentic. The service is absolutely amazing. The price is fairly and they do not charge you anything extra, which some restaurants in Rome do. Thank you for the good experience ❤️🩷🩷

We found this gem a few years ago and remembered it as a delightful and absolutely delicious dining experience. Returning after a long absence I feared the memory might have been overly rosy but it was even better than I remembered. Even our table mates said this was some of the best food, not just Italian, they had ever eaten. The place is not fancy. It is a traditional trattoria with excellent food offerings, all from scratch, along with your choice of a red or white wine, either of which is a fine compliment to your food choices. No reservations. Expect to share your table during peak times. If you are in Rome, put this on your list.

Google
Home made Italian kitchen with local ingredients!!! Mario & Pepe offers great service, polite & humor with customers!!! Devine food, poltete, pasta, boiled vegetables & risotto, from another world back in history!!! Home wine good, probably merlot red with body! Home atmosphere & tasty food! Enjoy

We returned to this lovely little trattoria for the first time in 8 years tonight and it's still one of our all time favourites. Cacio e Pepe was excellent and the beef rolls cooked to perfection. Thank you again for the excellent food and service!

Great food - I loved the melanzane in particular! The service was also amazing and the vibes were immaculate

Google
Truly amazing place, hidden in plain sight, with authentic Italian cuisine and atmosphere. For some the service may be rude, which can be seen in other reviews, but that’s how you know these are true, allergic to bullshit Italians. Arrabbiata pasta was heavenly, their risotto showed me what I’m supposed to expect from others and lasagna was done by the book. Wine only enhanced the taste. And pair all of that with really affordable price, and you get yourself one of top must places to visit in Rome and I know I’m gonna be one of their ambassadors whenever my friends will ask me for places to eat in Rome.

Such and amazing, warm and cozy place. We enjoyed a delightful Roman dinner. Very nice and friendly hosts. 5 stars! Grazie

Google
Wow! Best meal in Rome. Had amazing simple pasta with pepper and the speciality of the day: gnocchi with asparagus and bacon 👌🏼 both great taste and the combination of flavors on the gnocchi together with the flavors - Spectacular! The place is tiny and feels like a real “hidden gem” of Italy. Fast and friendly service, we both loved it.

Yelp
I would return to Alfredo e Ada in a heartbeat! After a long morning visiting the Vatican and St. Peter's my family was hungry. I had to convince them that the reviews I read made it worth going a few more blocks outside the tourist zone. We were all extremely happy we did. This cozy restaurant has great character. The menu is written on 2 chalkboards on the walls. The waitstaff are extremely friendly and helped us with the pronunciation. I got the oxtail ragu, and it was amazing. My fellow diners got the saltimbocca and bolognese and felt the same way. If you're in the area, definitely stop by.

Yelp
Went here years ago. Fantastic simple meal. Line up early since there is one cook and one waiter. Grandmother used to cook in the back. The ambiance is true. Don't be in a rush. Experience is like being in someone's kitchen.

Yelp
One of our favorites in Rome. Tiny, small restaurant, two brothers who serve and a wonderful chef. Family owned, each meal we had here was beyond great. In our neighborhood, the restaurants were awful, we had to walk a way to get here. Was worth every step. We stayed by the pont Sant'angelo, too close to the sights to provide very good examples of Roman food. Walking a bit away we found this incredible, established, family run trattoria. If you go here, you will not be disappointed. White or Red only and no desserts. Usually too full to care about dessert, but gelato is all around.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
I've never felt so welcomed at a restaurant. The owner went out of his way to make sure we had a good dining experience. The food was amazing and the house wine delicious.

Matthew J.

Yelp
No reservations taken for this reservation, but make sure you get here. Ran by two owners that make sure you get the best Italian food you (or at least I) have ever had. No menus, just a chalkboard by the door and a constant line of folks trying to get one of the very few tables. I recommend the beef rolls and lasagna.

Denisa W.

Yelp
The tiniest restaurant in Rome with fabulous food. We found Alfredo e Ada through yelp and thought the food looked incredible - we were correct. When we showed up (around 8pm), there was a line with about 10 people ahead of us, and were worried we'd be waiting too long for the size of the restaurant. We were assured by the waitstaff that their table turnover rate was very fast and we would only be waiting 15-20 minutes max. They were correct! We ordered from the chalkboard menu outside while we were still in line, so the food came out almost immediately. The rigatoni bolognese was incredible (cacio e pepe, too), and my friend loved her chicken dish. The ambiance was intimate and casual, it felt like family was cooking for us. We also were served extra house wine (shh!) and were not rushed out, even despite the fast table turnover rate, as I'm used to in NYC. Would highly recommend this trattoria. Enjoy our selfie with our waiter, Mimo!

Yelp
Comida italiana deliciosa. No necesita hacer reservaciones para la cena. Hay que llegar a las 6:40 p.m, para poder obtener una mesa. A las siete ya las mesas están todas ocupadas. Un lugar muy bonito y tranquilo para disfrutar una buena cena. Bon apetit.

Jane C.

Yelp
Amazing little place! They share tables but the food is exceptional and service is very warm! Get there early or make reservations, it fills up fast! 100% recommend it!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this small, intimate restaurant. We were in search of a non-touristy place. This place had all the signs of authentic: 1. No guy standing out front pulling people inside (this is so annoying and a lot of restaurants do this unfortunately). 2. The menu in the window was in Italian (no English at all!!) and the menu was also very short and simple. 3. They don't even have menus for the tables. They just tell you what food they have. 4. Appears to have many locals eating there (Many people speaking in Italian). I ordered one of my favorite dishes- eggplant Parmesan. I was highly excited to hear it was a dish they make! It was super fresh and flavorful. I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at this restaurant. Dishes are served with white crusty bread. There was only one waitress for the whole place, she did great!Everything was great, I would love to come back!

Yelp
Can I Yelp about an experience that may have taken place before Yelp even existed? Why not? My wife and I visited Rome in July 2004, and stayed at a wonderful shared apartment that was rented out by a funky little hotel near the train station. Since Yelp was founded that same month, we didn't have any online resources to help us navigate this wonderful city. But our landlords did provide a delightful pamphlet with recommendations from the owners of the hotel, for their favorite places in Rome. Alfredo e Ada was one of the suggestions, and the experience remains fresh in my mind, 16 years later. Like everyone else, we shared a table with strangers, and ate whatever was being delivered from the kitchen that night. Just great, simple food, served in a wonderful little space. My understanding is that Ada passed away in 2009 (her husband had already left his name behind when we visited), but it appears that younger generations are still running the restaurant. If you find yourself in Rome, and are looking for a nice dinner and a real feel for the city, give them a try.

Yelp
This is probably our most favorite restaurant in Rome. A visit to Rome would not be complete without eating at Alfredo e Ada. We have been coming here for years. This is a very small and intimate restaurant. There are only 6 tables. They do not take reservations except for parties of 6 or more. You sit wherever there is an open spot (usually sharing a table with others). They are closed on Sunday and Monday. There is no printed menu. Actually, there is a "generic" menu posted on the door. Chiara is the granddaughter of Alfredo and Ada. She runs the restaurant and does an exceptional job. She will come to your table and tell you what they have for that day. There are usually 4 to 5 first and second course offerings along with several vegetable offerings. They have only their own white and red wine. They do not have coffee or desserts, and they only accept cash. We came here 3 times on this trip to Rome. On our first visit we came for dinner. We had the penne carbonara and zuppa di ceci (chickpea soup) for our first course. Our second course was involtini alla Romana (rolled beef stuffed with vegetables) and coda alla Vaccinara (oxtail). We enjoyed a 1/2 liter each of red and white wine, and water. To finish the meal, Chiara always brings cookies that you can dip in your wine - perfect ending. Everything was delicious and filling. Our total bill for all of this was € 42. On our second visit, we went back for lunch. This time we enjoyed the lasagna ragu (meat sauce) and I had to have coda alla vaccinara again. I find the coda really delicious and different. We also had a mixed green salad and roasted potatoes along with 1/2 liter of house white wine and water. Of course, Chiara gave us cookies for dessert. Our total bill this time was only € 30. Our third visit was with 6 friends from Rome. I made a reservation for the 8 of us and Chiara had our table waiting for us. We had a blast! Chiara always takes good care of each and every customer. My husband and I each savored the penne carbonara. Then, we moved on to a veal stew with potatoes and veal slices with lemon. For a side dish, we enjoyed artichokes. There was plenty of water and wine going around. We split the check and our portion was only € 40. Everyone really liked the restaurant and the food. Thank you Chiara for another great meal at a very reasonable price. We will see you on our next trip to Rome.

Yelp
Best Italian food we've had in Italy! Our party of four had the meatballs, pesto speck lasagna, saltimbocca romana, classic lasagna, and penne arribata. This trattoria is a must try if you get the opportunity.

Leah H.

Yelp
One of our favorite places in Rome. There is no menu because the waitress recites everything from memory. The food is very good and very traditional. I love their lasagna and they breaded chicken. The restaurant is very small, so they will make you sit with other people. But don't worry, you'll bond over the food. I met a woman here from Milan, who has been coming to this restaurant for 20 years! Side Note: Make sure to get to the restaurant early because the wait is usually very long!

Heide S.

Yelp
Great food, authentic & family owned. Only about 6 tables inside, no desert or coffee. White or red wine only, red was great. Line outside to wait in, they are quick to serve and get people in & out. Would recommend!

Yelp
The beauty of Italy dining are the many restaurants nested in small alleys that locals seem to flock to. This restaurant is a perfect example of that. It's extremely small and only houses about 8 tables. There are no menus, just the list of foods served that day which is rattled off by the waitress, for which there is only one for the restaurant. We came here for lunch mid week and had the oxtail, potatoes and balsamic chicken. Wine is also poured from a spicket and served in normal water glasses. This is a place built on experience and not looks. The potatoes and balsamic were outstanding. Potatoes were crispy, season and cooked perfectly. The chicken was tender and the balsamic glaze was delicious. The oxtail came with a bit of a problem. I bit into it and it was ice cold. It was strange and disappointing given how amazing everything else was. I sent the dish back and they politely cooked it longer before serving again about 10 minutes later. The dish was very good. It was served in a tomatoey sauce and had a slight sweetness to it. Not the best oxtail I've eaten, but a very good dish. All in all a really cool restaurant in a small alley that's absolutely worth trying. The serving of the cold food was clearly a rare error, so that wouldn't stop me from coming back again. Awesome place.

Gianna B.

Yelp
Alfredo e Ada was the best food we tried in Rome. Our Airbnb host recommended it and we absolutely loved it. The pasta, the oxtail, and the potatoes were delicious and the service (Mario and Mimo) was so so nice. The restaurant is small and they open for dinner at 7 so make sure you get there early or you might have to wait a bit.

Fly Away May ..

Yelp
My horrible photos make the food look horrible, but they were anything but! We showed up about thirty minutes before their lunch closing time at 3PM. There was one other group, and we were concerned we wouldn't get a table, but the kind server said they would accommodate us anyway. No menus are available, and everything the server offered sounded great. Because other Yelp reviews that recommend the artichoke lasagna, we ordered that, a chicken roll with mushroom, and the oxtail stew. The oxtail was very tender and flavorful, and the artichoke lasagna was seriously one of the best lasagnas we've had in our life. And we've had LOTS of lasagna. Everything was just so delicious. You may want to order a second dish because they were a bit on the small side. The bill came to about €30 including sparkling water, which wasn't bad at all. Definitely a must visit when in Rome!

Dave R.

Yelp
Small Family Style Roman Place. Had the Oxtail Stew and a Pasta with half carafe of Red Wine. Best Meal in Rome and very reasonably priced. Tried more expensive places and regretted not returning here. Great personal service also.

Yelp
I had 4 full days in Rome and ate here twice. I would've gone all 4 days, but they're closed Sunday and Monday. A sweet lady (the only worker not in the kitchen) came by to recite the changing daily menu, the prices unclear. She waited there for us to quickly decide (we weren't rushed), and we ordered the oxtail stew, carbonara, stuffed zucchini in tomato sauce, and house red wine. The stew, a classic Roman dish, was served with bread and so incredibly flavorful. I wish it was socially acceptable to lick your plate clean because I 100% would have! My friend said the carbonara was good (served al dente, which I find not popular with Americans like myself), and he RAVED about the zucchini with veal (I think). He let me have a taste and gave me more when he saw how much I enjoyed it. After a lovely meal, she wrote down the total on table and gave us a little wine and some cookies to be dipped. Only 28 euros total! The next day, I went back for a solo dinner and got the rolled chicken in balsamic sauce and the stuffed zucchini because I loved it so much. The chicken filled me up, but I forced myself to eat the zucchini because it was SO GOOD!! Again, she came back with cookies and wine to end the meal. It was 18 euros for that meal, but this was me being a fatass and ordering 2 entrees for myself. Everything in Rome screams tourist to me, but this place is as authentic as it gets. With only 7 tables and seats for about 25 people, it was very calming being somewhere with the locals. It is reasonably priced and the food is AMAZING!! If you could only go to one place in Rome, COME HERE! Or if you have multiple days in Rome, COME HERE FOR ALL OF THEM! I assure you anything you get here will be delicious. I love everything about this restaurant, and I miss it so much. They deserve ALL the stars!!

Deysi Z.

Yelp
This place had some of the best food we had while in Rome. The lasagna and stuffed chicken was delicious. This place get's pretty busy during dinner time, and you have to share tables with other parties because the place is small. We didn't mind sharing our table, as we believe part of the experience with traveling getting to know other people. Would definitely recommend this place!

Lena B.

Yelp
Out of my 9 days in Italy this has been by far my FAVORITE restaurant! All of our meals were outstanding. I got the chicken wrapped with cheese, mushrooms, and bread; I enjoyed every last bite. My friends got The zucchini lasagna and blue cheese lasagna which were also very good. The prices were super reasonable as well. The total for 3 meals, 3 sides, and 1L of house came out to 45 euros. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because they do not accept cash (we were not aware of this). IF YOU ARE IN ROME, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Jeanne M.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here twice during our visit to Rome. The place is so charming and the food is delicious. The pasta is wonderful and I loved the roasted potatoes. Chiara, with her big smile, is the loveliest hostess. Don't forget to have the dessert biscuits that you dip in red wine...fantastic! https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187791-d2314520-r536460612-Alfredo_e_Ada-Rome_Lazio.html#

Yelp
Super super incredible!! Some of the best food we had in Roma!! The prices are incredibly cheap and it is definitely a spot for locals. We came for lunch and they were able to accommodate our group of 4 at 2:30pm. They close at 3. In addition, they allowed us to have the lasagna even though they typically reserve it for lunch. It was so delicious!!!

Rich C.

Yelp
Somehow found this restaurant just 2 min from our apartment rental. Walking far for dinner was out of the question with the heat. I looked in and decided it was simple and would suffice. Unlike most places we received water without asking, but maybe that's also because there was no A/C. Just something to know for those visiting in summer. "I will try and recite the menu" our waitress said. We listened, heard what we wanted, and ordered. Traveling around Europe a lot recently this was actually a plus to be prompted somewhat to order off the bat. Too often, after receiving a menu, you are left alone for long after you've been ready to order. We also didn't know the prices of what we ordered but that showed they were confident the food would be enjoyable and reasonably priced (both proved to be true). You look around and realize this tiny (borderline congested) space can sit no more than 25-28 people. It is and looks old and as if updating it is of no matter to them. They like it as is and I'm inclined to agree. That said, it is very clean and maintained. Ordered: Salad Meat roll with spinach- flavors were there but the meat did feel prepared the way I like. The spinach was excellent. Artichoke Lasagna- perfectly baked and fantastic Just and FYI - there is no dessert here. However you are given cookies that are supposed to be dipped in red wine - we were told. They were great. Excellent spot- highly recommend

Yelp
This place is amazing!! It's extremely authentic(no annoying people outside calling us in) and it has awesome food. The restaurant itself is really hard to find. The lady that works there tells us the menu and all the food is delicious and well cooked. Definitely recommend this place and looking forward to eating here again.

Rodolfo M.

Yelp
Loved this small quaint place! Not touristy at all, many locals come here. They don't even have a menu inside. There is only one server for the WHOLE restaurant and she did a great job! She recited the menu for us. There are only a few menu items and they all sounded great, it was hard to pick just one. I ordered a pasta dish and it was delicious. My partner got the eggplant parmigiana and loved it! I would definitely come back when in Roma!

Nadia S.

Yelp
If you're looking for authenticity in Rome, look no further. This place is a bit off the beaten path but still in a central location. We came on a Tuesday night around 9 and waited ~15 minutes for a table. There are around 7 tables for 4 and we were seated with another couple (communal style). The waitress was very nice and recited the menu in English (no prices but there was a menu posted outside so we knew what we were in for). I ordered the stuffed chicken with balsamic sauce and my boyfriend ordered the artichoke lasagna. Both were phenomenal - the chicken was cooked perfectly and the lasagna was flavorful. We also got a half liter of the house red wine and some complimentary biscotti to end our meal. The bill totaled 23 Euros (they don't take cards so bring cash). Don't miss this place!

Cat B.

Yelp
This place is simple and perfect. It's a small restaurant that seats about 20 people family style. They recite the days menu to you and offer red or White House wine. Both our food and our wine were excellent, and the cozy room sitting at tables with strangers from around the world felt intimate. I would definitely recommend for a more authentic feeling dining experience.

Freddy S.

Yelp
This restaurant is closed.. should be removed from Yelp. And now Yelp wants me to write a longer review because the tip about the restaurant being closed wasn't enough. So here's a lot of unnecessary crap about nothing. Bottom line is, the restaurant doesn't exist. Thank you and goodbye.

Clarisse W.

Yelp
Wonderful place! Small and quiet and off the beaten path. They didn't have a menu and the waitress recited everything on it maybe four times for us. The carbonara with white sauce was incredible! The tomato and rice dish and the chicken dish were also phenomenal. And it was unbelievably cheap for 3 alcoholic beverages and 3 dishes. Cash only! Absolutely delicious and lovely place - one of the best meals I had in Rome!

Hafsah H.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem! We went to this restaurant after being recommended by a friend; he said it was the best food he had in all of his travels through Italy. Upon arriving (after walking past the entrance a thousand times lol) we were seated next to another couple (seating is a little tight) and provided with some waters. This resto has tons of history - lots of pictures with the owner, Ada cooking for patrons, amongst other memories. I had the carbonara and my husband had a lemon glazed chicken something; both were melt-in-your-mouth DELICIOUS. Not heavy, light on the tongue and burst in your mouth flavourful. As a side note, we showed our waitress a picture of our friend with Ada (they're related by marriage) and she was so delighted! It turns out our waitress was Ada's granddaughter :) She was so ecstatic, she took a picture with us as well, haha. Go to Ada's if you want a home cooked meal from a family who knows how to do Italian food RIGHT.

S 3.

Yelp
Small place with around 8 tables. Meat lasagna and oxtail were quite good. Artichoke lasagna was waaaay too cheesy. And the stuffed chicken breast although had good flavor with nice balsamic glaze was very little chicken and a lot of breaded filling.

Linda T.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with wonderful outdoor seating. The string lights and tents create a romantic ambiance that would be perfect for a date night. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, the caprese salad, and the Caesar salad. The eggplant dish was my highlight, perhaps because of its elegance and simplicity. It had grilled slices with tomato sauce, olive oil, and mozzarella - absolutely delicious. The caprese salad was good, but nothing special. I did not enjoy the Caesar salad, and I would recommend going with a lighter pasta instead if you are feeling health conscious. The penne arrabiata had high reviews from my friends. Overall we enjoyed dining here!

Glen K.

Yelp
This restaurant was an incredible find! The food was full of flavor and was presented well. The waitress was very prompt and welcoming to our group of four. We honestly felt like we were eating in someone's home as the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We each ordered a different entree and all four were delicious. We will definitely visit this lovely restaurant again!

Dayan M.

Yelp
By far the best Italian food we've ever had! This is a must for anyone visiting Rome. Fantastic food at an unbelievable low price for the high quality.

Yu G.

Yelp
I have to admit that the food is not perfect BUT it is definitely among the best if you want to pay less than 50 euros per person for a taste of traditional italian food. It costs us 30 euros for a lunch for two. There is normally a line for diner in summer season, expect to wait for 15-30min if you arrive late. I would recommend the pasta and the oxtail, very delicious.

Jerry C.

Yelp
Trattoria da Alfredo e Ada (A&A) is the definition of a mom and pop shop. We went for lunch and there were literally 2 people working: our server, who spoke Italian/Spanish/English (possibly more!), and a lady working in the kitchen that can only feasibly fit 2 people MAX. A&A is small, cozy, and intimate. Really a great atmosphere to dine. The nice server recites everything the kitchen is making that day - keep in mind, no prices are listed off, so you kind of just go with it and order whatever you want to eat. No problem; I'm on vacation! Splurging is my game! Thus, my family pretty much ordered everything our server listed off, barring a couple of meat courses. 2 first courses, 4 second courses, and 3 side veggies. The pastas (carbonara, amatriciana) were pretty good - I think my family contended this was the best carbonara we had in Rome. For some reason we ordered 2 each of the stuffed chicken and cod, but both were really good, especially the chicken - the sauce, the stuffing, the chicken - woo that was a good dish. The broccolini, eggplant, and zucchini are pretty much what you'd expect for a veggie dish (especially in Rome) - nothing particularly special, but they were fine to complement our meal. At the end, we also received cookies on the house, which are supposed to be dipped in wine, but we didn't order wine...oops. The server did offer to get us some wine, though, but we declined. Even without the wine, the cookies were great! The name escapes me, but they're donut-shaped and similar to biscotti in terms of texture. So remember how no prices are listed off? We also had water with our meal (seemingly unlimited, by the way), and the total price of the meal for everything was... €64. I'm pretty sure the wine for cookies would have been complementary, too, but feeding 4 people for under €20 each? And being satisfied and not feel like you're starving yourself? Really cannot beat the value for what you get at A&A.

Yelp
Words can't express what an utterly phenomenal restaurant this is. It was so good that we went back twice. Heck, we would have gone back more than twice, but it wasn't open when we tried. We stumbled on this little hole in the wall after there was an insane wait (for a higher ranked restaurant on Yelp) down the street. We ended up getting to that higher ranked place later in the week, but it was utter garbage compared to the perfection at Trattoria da Alfredo e Ada. The decor is so perfect, exactly what you'd imagine a little family owned spot in Italy with a grandma cooking in the back would look like. Lots of momentos on the walls, dim lights, dark wood. I'd say it's romantic, but not just in the hot date sense (this would be a great date spot), but in the way that an old leatherbound book can be romantic. The waitress was phenomenal. While she leads by telling you her English isn't great, she communicated just fine. The waitress was super friendly and helpful in every way. She recites the night's menu to you, which is how you know the food is going to be amazing-- when the menu can change on the whim of what's fresh and what the chef feels like cooking, it's always better than a preset situation. Anyway, the waitress is so good that on our last night, we left her a 50 Euro tip on our way out the door (our bill was less than half that)-- she truly made our trip to Rome something special. We had all kinds of things from here, but they were all amazing. I had the stuffed balsamic chicken breast and it was BEYOND flavorful. The eggplant Parmesan was out of this world. We had a few other entrees over the course of our visit and every single one was great. Seriously, you simply can't go wrong here. Finally, at the end of your meal, they bring you some cookies and wine. Perhaps I'm just an American savage (perhaps?), but she instructed us to dip the cookies in the wine. Holy cow! Amazing. Seriously, blew my little American mind. Anyway, ignore the other places with long waits and pop into this place. It will hands down be the single best meal you will eat while in Rome. I seriously want to go back to Rome just so I can eat here some more. PS: Did I mention everything was so cheap? Because it is.

Cathy S.

Yelp
Chance upon this joint after a long day at the Vatican. They were closing in half an hour when we got there but was happy to serve us what they have on the menu. At 3 pm, wet and hungry, we ordered the carbonara. We were served water, 2 biscuits and a little white wine at the end of the meal. All for €15 for 2. Best meal we ever had in Rome. Simple and delizioso.

Susy W.

Yelp
Somehow, this restaurant stood out to me while we were in Rome. It's a small, intimate restaurant (expect to perhaps share a table with others) and the service we received was great. We were given wine when we were waiting outside for an opening) and the value of the food was great. We ordered the zucchini lasagna, carbonara and eggplant side dish with half a liter of wine for 22 euros. You really can't beat the price!

Essi S.

Yelp
Lovely small place with a super nice staff and delicious food. Portions are pretty small but very good, so don't be afraid to order one or two main courses or share different portions with a friend or a group. Or take some of the delicious side dishes for appetizers! WHEN IN ROME COME HERE!!

Kyle W.

Yelp
This was the single best restaurant I ate at in my time studying abroad in Italy. The meal I had here was the most authentic Roman food I had while staying there. This restaurant only holds about 20-25 people at a time and there is only one waitress who recites the menu to you when you are seated. I went to this restaurant a few times in my four months and every time I left, I always knew I would be back. The different asparagus lasagna and artichoke lasagna were two of the best times on the menu. They tasted so fresh and were unlike anything else I've eaten in my life. The eggplant parmesan they served here was incredible as well. The house wine they served was as good as any other and they have a small selection of other wines but I've never seen anyone else order them. Everything was super affordable here a dinner for 3 was around 50 dollars including bread, water and wine. The portions here are large, considering the price point, however I would consider ordering an extra entrée just to be safe, because you will definitely want to eat more because the food is so good. Since there are only a few seats in this place you will probably have to wait outside for a while till another table finishes, but while you are waiting the waitress comes out and offers wine to you, and the wait is never too long. Even if you have to wait an hour to get in the food is most certainly worth it. If you want to skip the wait you can wait outside the restaurant before it opens, at 7:30, and be seated immediately when they open. It is definitely better to go earlier because when they run out of a dish, they run out for the night, it's that authentic, you have to go. This is such an easy place to walk by and not notice, but you should find time in your stay in Rome to grab a dinner, or two, or ten, here. I cannot say enough about how great this place was. The only downside was that it was cash only, but you should expect nothing less from somewhere this authentic.

Yelp
Super authentic Roman cooking place, it was absolutely booming when we arrived. The place opens for supper at 7pm, and instantly fills up. This restaurant embraces the idea that people should eat their meals together and share a conversation, regardless of whether or not they know each other, so you will be seated with others if your party is small or can't take up an entire table. Frankly, I thought this was a plus. There is only one waitress/hostess/front end person, and she does everything. From taking orders, to busing tables, to delivering the food to the tables. She is extremely efficient and I can't say the "lack" of staff made anything harder to get or that we lacked attention. She also seems to speak at least 3, I heard her speak Spanish, Italian, and English. The food was a great many Roman favorites, from Tripa to Carbonara, with various other delicacies thrown in for good measure like sausages with spicy spinach to cod in a sweet tomato sauce. Everything was fantastic! I highly recommend this place, don't be intimidated by the wait, it's worth it.

Yelp
Cozy place for dinner. Although they serve small portions, food is palatable. One can truly experience gastronomic delight while savoring flavors of authentic Italian cuisine. Our family enjoyed the evening with very pleased tastebuds. One of our great dining memories in Roma.

Yelp
Oh my goodness do not pass this place by when you are in Rome! It's a bit hard to find, especially when their door is open. There was a sign I happened to see, hand written, which said Alfredo e Ada. We sat right down in this unique place. Immediately we were brought water (this is a big deal in Italy - most places you pay for still water, but here it was free). We ordered the house wine which they had on tap. Very good. This place has a set menu, so don't expect to go in and be given a menu. They tell you the menu, and you choose on the fly. If you aren't good at decisions let me make one for you! The lasagna was to die for. Definitely get it. I wish I could have it right now. To finish it off we were given a dessert, some sort of shortcake cookie, which is to be dipped in wine. Luckily we had ordered wine with dinner. When in Rome, right? Staff is super friendly and the guy who owns the place was working. The restaurant has been passed down three generations. I even heard him say the wood on the walls of the place were in their original restaurant from 3 generations ago. Such a great atmosphere off of a small road. Don't miss this place, it's a must.

Yelp
Very nice spot that was different than our other Rome dinner experiences. No reservations, no menu, no dessert, cash only. We got there early (6:45pm) and got a table as it opened. We sat with an older gentleman who we thought at first was a local because he spoke fluent Italian but as soon as he spoke in English to us I knew he was an American. He lives in Rome part time and hails from Pennsylvania, which is where I am from. We ended up having great conversations and he said he comes to this restaurant once a week and it is one of his favorites. My daughter and I split the artichoke lasagna, the stuffed chicken and the oxtail stew. All were delicious! Red wine was equally good and was the best I've had here so far. The price was also the cheapest so far for very good quality food. Recommended!

Yelp
Phenomenal food, friendly, generous service, and great little atmosphere. Veal and potato dish was delicious like my Sicilian grandfather's home cooking as was the stuffed zucchini in a red sauce. Bread was very tasty. Free water And cookies to dip in wine were perfect end to our meal. Received free wine while waiting for a table late at night near closing. Couldn't have found a better place for dinner with my wife during our first night in Rome.

Yelp
Excellent dinner spot with the best eggplant parmigiana I have had. I am a vegetarian and there were many items available for me (lasagna, parmigiana) the space is small, traditional wine by the liter (house red was good), nice waitress, and overall a great choice. Service was also fast.

Yelp
Do not miss this restaurant. Though we came in a few minutes after they began cleaning up the restaurant, the owner was gracious enough to let me and a friend eat a very late dinner. Like the other reviews said, they have a pre-set menu from which to choose. The waitress listed off all of our options and took down the dishes that we chose. I got a peppery meat stew with potatoes and my friend got the balsamic chicken. We also ordered a house wine. The stew was perfect paired with the crusty bread that they give. The balsamic chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly. Afterwards, they brought out a plate of cookies and some amarao liqueur as a digestif to go with the cookies. It was, without a doubt, one of the best meals that we had during our trip. Unpretentious Italian food served by incredible servers who offered their suggestions. I couldn't recommend this place more.
