We booked 2 nights for a double queen room. They messed up and gave us a 1 queen room for night 1 and offered a double queen room for night 2. We didn’t want the hassle of moving so we denied the offer. Upon entering, the smell just hits you in the face. Very musty and off putting. The toilet was leaking around the base. They claimed it was just condensation. It was not. The toilet also stopped flushing but my husband was able to pop the lid and get it working. The bathroom door wouldn’t close properly unless you lifted the door upwards. The pillows on the bed were old and one smelled heavily of greasy heads. Luckily I brought my own and tossed the others on the floor. We opted not to stay the second night because it just felt gross in there. The owner said we should get back part of our money because she thought she’d book it, no problem. We haven’t received any kind of refund. We got offered casino cash for their mess up in the room booking and that was it. Pretty disappointed in this motel and that we basically just burned over $100 because we had the leave after 1 night. We had had enough.

Very clean room. Affordable. Smart TV with cable. Free wifi. Clean soft towels in the bathroom. Mini fridge with freezer. And AC. If I'm in the area again and need a place to spend the night, I'd come here again.

Positive: Comfortable, clean and convenient for our actitivies. Negative: Noisy snowmobilers (the machines, not the riders). But we expected that.

Small reasonably priced rooms. Great location just outside of downtown Munising. The staff is super friendly, the room was very clean. They allow small dogs!!! I appreciate how private and quiet it is. I will definitely stay here again. There are several waterfalls right down the road!!!

We paid $175 per night including tax and fees. We stayed 2 nights. It definitely was not worth it. If you want a good night sleep, this isn’t the place. The mattress was probably circa 1980. Bouncy and if your partner rolls over, will feel everything. The bedsheets were rough and scratchy. The bathroom door didn’t shut properly. You probably won’t want to take off your shoes either. There are nearby hotels that are similarly priced, check them out first. I didn’t speak to my partner for a day for booking this place.

First off, I booked this hotel based on money and ratings. Summer weekend hotel rooms are ridiculous in any tourist area in michigan. Yes, September is still considered summer in Michigan. It's nice to find a reasonably priced, clean, hotel room for a weekend getaway. This room did not disappoint in those areas. I don't expect a modern room or luxurious pillows or bedding. This room was well appointed with a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and even a fairly new kuerig. The shower water pressure was nice and never ran out of hot water. One cautionary note, the toilet is LOW, so if youre super tall or have trouble getting up from a seated position, maybe don't get room 106 and mention your difficulty at the time of registration. My husband had difficulty with the mattress on the second night but he has trouble with all except our tempurpedic at home. In summary, if you want a great deal on a room, and don't care that it isn't in pristine modern condition, you won't be disappointed.

I read the reviews for this motel and thought I was getting a wonderful place to spend the night. Wrong. We got checked and went to the room, opened the door and the musty smell was strong. Before we did anything else, we pulled back the comforter and sheets and saw bedbugs crawling between the mattress and mattress cover. Went to tell the manager, she had gone home.We took a captured bedbug to her the next morning and she refused to admit she had a bug issue. Very very rude, she said we must have brought them in with us . Refused to do anything about it. The room was in need of a deep clean, walked across the carpet and bottom of my feet were black, the shower controls were not attached to the wall. We had no choice but to stay everywhere else was booked. Spoke to a couple of women staying next room over, they said the same thing, musty room and very unprofessional management. I give it 1 star but shouldn't. For the price we paid, should have been in a Marriott. Horrible

Google
Alger Falls Motel has an excellent location, especially if you're looking for convenient access to Munising and the local attractions like Pictured Rocks. It's right on the main road, so getting around is easy. However, beyond the location, the motel doesn't offer much in terms of amenities. For starters, there’s no breakfast provided, which was a bit of a letdown considering many places offer at least something to get you going in the morning. The rooms themselves are pretty basic—clean enough, but nothing that stands out. The overall condition of the motel feels somewhat dated, and it lacks the comfort or warmth that would make it a good option for a family stay. I wouldn’t bring my family here, as it just doesn’t have that inviting, cozy atmosphere you’d want for a vacation. That said, if you're just passing through and need a place to sleep, it works for that purpose. It's functional, but not a place you’d want to spend much time in beyond resting for the night. For a solo traveler or someone just looking for a budget-friendly place to crash, it could be worth considering, but don’t expect much in terms of comfort or amenities.

Yelp
We stayed her per reviews on trip advisor & hotels. It's a great mom n pop road side motel with little frills. The room is clean, and office attendant is very nice/knowledgeable. I would NOT say this is in town it's about 2 miles up the hill from the edge of town. I do recommend this place if you are looking for a clean start/stop point.

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay at this lovely locally owned motel. The hotel is wonderfully located right by Munising - with access to a wealth of nature trails, beaches and boat rides, delicious restaurants and bars, the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and countless attractions. The staff was lovely from check in to check out. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! The rates were on the lower end of the spectrum during high season in Northern Michigan. We preferred staying here and supporting local business over some cold, impersonal big box chain motel (which probably wouldn't have been any better in service or quality) The rooms were simple but super clean.. sparkling clean bathrooms, clean soft cotton sheets and comforters (not those icky polyester comforter covers) and a nice TV with all the stations we needed. We liked sitting outside on our own chairs at night.. and enjoyed the fire pit on the lawn! The morning was bright and crisp, and only 5 minutes down the road there's a coffee shop with delicious bagels, Bay Furnace Bagel Works. We brought our bagels home to motel and enjoyed them as we got ready for a big day of adventure in the UP. I was traveling 9 months pregnant and left my sacred most loved pregnancy support pillow in the bed (hidden in the covers) and the owner was nice enough to offer to ship it to our home!!! They are SO NICE here! We will definitely be returning! We loved staying here!

Yelp
Book this place for a snowmobile trip Friday through Monday. First of all the remote for the TV would not work and the manager told us that all the tv remotes had problems while telling us her Ambien was kicking in. Water pressure in the bathroom sink was so strong that water would splash around everywhere. Ice machine was broken in the lobby. We were charged 12% tax 6% sales tax 6% tourist tax. Someone had wrecked into my snowmobile require us to leave Sunday instead of Monday and the manager said we could not be reimburse as they have a 48 hour policy. She did inform me that if they could get our room rented that they would only be able to credit me back partially. I will never come back here. The room had a dingy smell to it that i didn't care for as well.

Yelp
Nice little motel about 5 miles from the center of Munising. Our room had a fridge and microwave, which was great since we were there a couple nights and also had smoked fish with us. The staff is super friendly. There's wifi and good selection of cable channels. It's not the quietest spot if you leave your windows open as you can hear cars driving by, but it's totally fine with the windows closed. Would stay there again.

Yelp
Old-school motel. The rooms are comfortable, if a bit small. Not much in the way of seating or work space, but good WiFi and comfortable beds. Located just outside Munising, but easy to get to. We enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
I visited Munising with a few friends and we stayed in the large cabin that they have. We were a party of 6 and it was the perfect amount for this place (I would keep in mind that there was still only 1 bathroom in the cabin). I felt welcomed and was able to enjoy my time at this place. They had everything that we needed in the kitchen. We brought food and the fact that we did not need to worry about bringing plates and other cooking materials was great. The grill that they have isn't the greatest but it does get the job done. They had cable, which was nice because the NBA playoffs were happening and we were able to catch that. It was such a relaxing place and everyone for the most part was friendly with us.

Yelp
We stayed in one of the cabins - two couples in a two bedroom - and it was clean, well appointed and comfortable. I would rate it as a reasonable value with the only negative marks given for the fact that there is only one bathroom (I know, it's a minor point for a family but for two couples...) and a very inflexible cancellation policy. We did not have to cancel but with a two week policy it is pretty inflexible. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful, and I could certainly book again here. Just make sure you don't have a change in plans!

Yelp
Perfect accommodations. We stayed in their two bedroom cottage....couldn't have been better! Very clean and cute.

Yelp
Booked a room for Oct 27 - 29th 2013, missed the Fall Season (could not be helped), but still a wonderful trip - leaves were still vibrant and overall my fiancee and I had a wonderful vacation. Only had two issues, one being the bed and the other just the limited places to eat this time of year. The local area book in the room - to help guest find places for food or other interesting spots in the area was fine enough, but it really should have listed the Navigator Restaurant - which for some reason gets a lot of bad reviews but during the off season I have to say it was probably the most superior of places to eat. The Motel is just 5 miles out from Munising main thoroughfare and it takes no time at all to find someplace to dine. The Motel is close to the highway, but the windows, curtains, and door supply enough sound proofing to get decent sleep or a good conversation without feeling like you are standing by a busy highway. The bed on the otherhand, initially it seems suitable but after an hour it feels like you are sleeping on a hard concrete slab - a bit of tossing and turning was had the first night, but we used the extra blankets to cushion the mattress. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The WiFi was great for us to upload our photos of our trip to friends and family, and in my case to Voice call through Facetime with my sister (Sprint is terrible service to have in the UP when you visit). Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our Fridge in the room was unplugged, and we had no reason to plug it in, though its a nice feature considering if you bring back leftovers from the places in Munising. Would happily book here again.
