My boyfriend and I were in the area and wanted to get some Mediterranean food. He told me that this place was delicious and I'm not usually a fan of Mediterranean food so I was skeptical and just wanted to take the food to go so that I could cook something at home in case I didn't like it, but the staff were all really nice and polite, even though we were taking everything to go and they even served us water while we were waiting for our takeout. The restaurant itself seems very clean and has a very homey vibe, kind of like your local neighborhood spot but a bit more elevated. It felt like a family place but not super loud and noisy. The seating is nice, and there's a bit of outdoor seating outside too. They packaged all of the food for takeout really well, and we got the meat platter (the one that comes with lamb chops, chicken, steak and all for around $38) everything in the platter was delicious. The veggies were really delicious as well! We were not worried about anything spilling because they packaged everything so well as you'll see in the photos. We had a great time even just waiting for our food and each member of the staff was so nice and helped us take our food to go and check out. I'll definitely order from this place again or return if I'm craving Mediterranean food! Five stars!🌟

The food was lovely. The staff were very attentive and even the owner came to ensure that we were always well kept. There was complimentary puffy bread served with butter. The mixed grill was cooked to perfection as was the rib eye steak. I couldn’t fault a single thing. David and Alp were also continuously checking in on us. But it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I would not hesitate to go again. The chilli Humus was exquisite. One of the best I’ve had. Good spice quality and very flavoursome. The meat was good quality, juicy and tender. Definitely high quality and very much down to earth if you would enjoy that personal touch.

Google
It’s a nice place but in general I found the food just average here. We had the mixed kebabs and they were a bit on the dry side and lacking flavor. Good hummus and fried cheese rolls though. If I were to come back I’d go with a different main.

Came here for a very early dinner on a Sunday evening. It was quiet inside, only one other table, maybe two. The food was amazing. Lots of flavor and came out quickly. We had the side of vegetables, hummus, and lamb adana. The labneh is a nice touch. They don’t have a full bar, just beer, wine, and soft drinks. The staff is nice and welcoming, it did seem there may have been a bit of a miscommunication or possible language barrier with the waitress about something we ordered, but it worked out totally fine. It was slightly warm inside, and the seats were a bit hard and uncomfortable. Overall, so glad I finally checked out this spot! Loved the lightning and ambiance.

What a great , wonderful experience, and food in this restaurant. I barely put reviews unless if it was excellent and exceeded my expectations. This restaurant did indeed exceed my expectations I came across this restaurant and I tried their special dish called the Citir Kebab and it was amazing ,very tasty , done and cooked to perfection. The taste and the portion was really really good. I enjoyed every bite of it. I highly recommend this restaurant not only for the food but for the friendly staff and their excellent services. I m coming back for sure to this place every time I m in New York.

Manhattan's best Turkish food restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating areas. Very polite staff. Freshly backed tasty bread ,lahmacun and pide. Lots of choices in the menu. Large portions. Hygiene and health care. High quality ingredients. Reservation adviced. Medium prices. Highly recommended.

I recently dined at Ali Baba and had an exceptional experience. The Shepherd Salad, Shish Kebab, Cheese Pide, and Turkish Pizza were all delicious with perfectly balanced flavors. The owner was incredibly kind, and the staff provided excellent and accommodating service. Their attention to detail made us feel right at home. ⭐️ Overall, Ali Baba offers outstanding Turkish cuisine and warm hospitality. Highly recommended!

We had an absolutely fantastic time at this restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, especially our server ALP , who was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The service was impeccable—our server went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, and we left feeling completely satisfied. Everything was perfect, from start to finish. Thank you for making our dining experience so memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
What a charming place. I had an outstanding meal this evening. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in good hands with Alp. I started with a small shepherd salad. It was superb. Nicely diced tomatoes, cucumbers, strands of onion, and a touch of green pepper. The seasoned oil was perfect. I then thoroughly enjoyed the Lamb Adana. I lived in Adana, Turkey, for two years. This may have been the best I've had since then, there. The rice and tomato salad it comes with were great. And the thin little bread strips were unique and a super nice touch. I finished with rice pudding and Turkish coffee (orta...medium sugar). The coffee was strong and the rice pudding was delightful with its hints of cinnamon. I had a large bottle of sparkling water. Everything including tip came up to a bit more than $65. In Midtown, that alone is extraordinary.

Yelp
Here's a rephrased version: We had a wonderful dining experience at Ali Baba last night! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering excellent recommendations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We started with the delectable Muhuarama dip, followed by the flavorful Chicken Shish and the special Citir Kebab. The dip was bursting with flavor, and both entrees were cooked to perfection. I'm thrilled to have found a new favorite restaurant in Manhattan - highly recommended!

Yelp
I love Lebanese/Mediterranean food, and we stumbled on this place a few blocks from our hotel. So happy we did! It was daily clean considered it's in the heart of the city. The food seemed authentic and the service was great. The food was wonderful. The hummus was good, and I really enjoyed the falafels. The lamb shank was great and the chicken thighs and veggies were next level. I would definitely go back to this spot and highly recommend!

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Friday evening. It was packed but service was pretty good outside of forgetting our salad that we ordered. We got a bunch of dishes to try and share including: -mixed mezze (all the dips are delicious especially the hummus!) -greek salad -3 orders of the bread (soooo hot and delicious) -fried liver (juicy and not dry at all) -pida with cheese and sausage (recommend to try turkish style pizza. It was cheesy and delicious) -mixed grill platter (came with a lamb chop, lamb kebab, chicken Adana, chicken skewer, beef Patty, rice, and some salad. Only one or two pieces of each so probably good for 1 person or 2 that aren't too hungry) -Adana kebab platter (meat was cooked perfectly and juicy) -special dish that had lamb mixed in a wrap with eggplant (never had anything like that. It was definitely an interesting dish) For dessert we got 2 orders of Baklava and Turkish Tea. If you are looking for good Turkish food in the city, this is the place to go! We devoured all our food so I didn't have time to take photos!

Yelp
The waiters suggestion was very good, gave me so free tea at the end of the meal. I sat next to the owner and he talked to me a little, very polite and a surprisingly quiet street in new york. The citir kebab was delicious.

Yelp
Great Mediterranean spot in Turtle Bay! The staff at Ali Baba are all incredibly sweet. Our waitress was so nice and the owner as well. The owner offered my friend and I Turkish tea post-meal, but unfortunately we were in a bit of a rush to indulge. Definitely will be back to try their dessert menu, it looked so good. The balloon bread was unique and delicate. They have no drinks menu, just soft drinks are offered. Perfect for me because I love a Diet Coke! My friend and I shared their fried calamari -- nice crispy exterior with flavorful seasoning. Very well made. The spicy curry chicken was savory and paired well with the fluffy rice. Will be back again!

Yelp
The best Turkish Restaurant in NYC The owner is a lady and she prepares some meals herself. And Lahmacun (Turkish pizza even you can not get in Turkiye ) It is a Family Business. Everyone Friendly, like you feel like at home

Levent S.

Yelp
I am Turkish. I know what Turkish food should taste like. This was terrible. We ordered delivery from their website and it arrived 30 minutes late. The sigara böreği was soggy and cold (instead of hot and crispy). It was also covered with tomato sauce and yogurt (which it never should be). We also ordered mantı. I wish I hadn't. The dough was thick and basically had no filling (sırf hamur). I now know why it's been so long since I've had food from here. Save your money and order from somewhere else.

Yelp
Came here Sunday afternoon for a lunch with large group of friends and the staff was so quick to accommodate every one of us even without a reservation. Although they're know for their Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine, there's a lot of great Italian dishes ranging from pasta to flatbread pizza that's really delicious! The spicy hummus was good to dip the house bread in, and the ali baba mixed grill with chicken and lamb kebabs were tender and flavorful! The pizzas use fresh ingredients and large ones are shareable among 2-3. The food was served quickly within 10-15 mins upon ordering. The staff were so attentive and friendly to us our entire time there. The interior design felt so festive and vibrant. All 6 of us left really full and had leftovers at the end. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I had walked by this place almost everyday, and it's such a shame that I've only just tried this. It was so good for such a reasonable price! I just had the Special Kebab, I don't remember exactly what it was called in the menu, but it had special in the name, and the server recommended it. It was this lamb kebab where each lamb peace was wrapped by a pita-like breading, and topped with tomato and yogurt based sauces. There was also a complimentary pita bread with olive oil. This was so filling and delicious. I also came quite early, so I'm not sure if this is always the case, but it wasn't crowded at all, and was quiet enough for hearty conversation. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Ideally located in the midtown area and easily accessed from all parts of the city. Ironically, you'll also find people from "all walks of life" including a homeless shelter located directly across the street plus a high-end restaurants just around the corner on 2nd avenue. Meeting a group for dinner, we sat outside just an "arm's reach" away from a live band hired by the restaurant. The ambiance was great and the waitress was patient with our series of questions about food choices. If you're a vegetarian, then look elsewhere for a meal - but if you're excited by a family owned restaurant that provides tasteful plates of kebabs, sizzled meat, and grilled vegetables (I'm generalizing, of course) then you've come to the perfect place. The prices are typical of Manhattan but the food is actually quite good. I ordered the grilled lamb shish kebab on a bed of smoked pureed eggplant mixed with fresh mozzarella cheese (called Alinazik). It was delicious! My 3-stars are for the location and pricing but the food was really good.

Yelp
Wow, this place is a gem! My branzino was soooo good! I'd come back here just to have it again. Delicious! Side salad that came with it was also perfect. The service was great and the place looks really cute.

Yelp
Good place to visit. Delicious food. If you want to come book in advance otherwise you will be seated not at the best place. I ordered Lentil soup And Turkish lahmagun As for me the portion should be little bit bigger because you can see there is a lot of empty space in the cup. Served with bread, bread is freshly cooked in the oven that they have in the restaurant. Lahmagune is very good and crunchy, meet in lahmagune is really good ( as per restaurant it is halal )

Yelp
I recently ordered delivery from Ali Baba Mediterranean Cuisine and decided to try their lahmacun and calf liver. The food arrived promptly, still hot and fresh, thanks to the careful packaging.

Yelp
Food was great and so was the service. Loved the hummus and the mixed platter with all the meats. Deliciosos lamb.

Yelp
Just wanted something light for dinner and this place was around the corner from my hotel. The red lentil soup was fantastic. A squeeze of lemon really brought out the flavors. The flat bread was fresh, straight out of the oven and pillowy soft. The dolmas were a little sweeter than I liked but they were good too.

Yelp
Another lovely meal here. Everything was fantastic, from the welcoming staff, to the steaming hot bread, to the dips and the salad. Great spot!

Yelp
My cousin and I popped in here on a Saturday afternoon. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated immediately. We love Mediterranean food as it reminds us of what we grew up eating so we were excited to dive in. We ordered babaganoush which came with stunning and delicious poofy pita bread, stuffed cabbage, "spicy cigars," and a Mediterranean salad. Everything was so delicious and service was great. Ambiance was lovely as well - we felt very comfortable hanging out in the space and enjoying the food. We would definitely come back!

Young Woo S.

Yelp
We came in 30 minutes before closing and were seated kindly. We only wanted wine and dessert, and were recommended the katmer and baklava, both of which were warm and delicious. The service was fantastic and friendly, and we plan on coming back! Thank you so much!

Yelp
Wonderful ambience, excellent service and delicious food at reasonable rates. Will certainly be back.

Yelp
Great staple and quality Mediterranean restaurant in the neighborhood. The portion sizes are great and the quality of the food is also really good. The food is fresh and everything is always cooked to perfection. Definitely will be coming again and reordering!

Yelp
The food and appetizers are amazing. Service is excellent.. The restaurant owner and waitress are very friendly. Everything is very clean, very professional and very delicious. The atmosphere is warm and unique.

Yelp
Had a lovely dining experience here. I was staying at a nearby hotel and was easily able to get a reservation for a party of 6. We were greeted by a lovely host who waited patiently for our party to arrive and was immediately seated even though my friends trickled in. The food was absolutely delicious. We were given free warm homemade bread. We all shared the mixed appetizer plate which was selected by the chef. It included hummas, Babaghannoush, Tzatziki, Spicy Vegtable Dip and stuffed eggplant. I followed the recommendation of the host and had Alinazik. The lamb was cooked to perfect and the purée of eggplant was so creamy. After our meal the co-owner and resturant namesake Ali Baba came to our table and was so kind and personable. He even offered us all a cup of fresh Turkish tea. Honestly this restaurant was a lovely gem. Great ambiance, great service and delicious food. Well worth the visit and I wish them much success.

Yelp
Ordered takeout tonight . I ordered Lamenting (lamechun in Turkish) was big and a good value but cold. Also got the Alibaba special salad with an add on of chicken. There was no chicken included (that's a loss of $8) And I expected the salad to look like the image immediately above it (cubed cucumber and tomato) and instead it was basically halved tomatoes . I think it would be a good spot to eat and the stuff were energetic. Just a little bumped my salad was a waste of $24 including the chicken.

Yelp
This must be a new location This must be a new location. Alibaba is an amazing Turkish restaurant. And the food was excellent, including the Turkish Pride and lamb shank. We quickly found a table though service was a little slow after that. Otherwise we thought it was a great experience.

Yelp
I'm not sure if this place reopened or is brand new, but either way I absolutely love it. I had the lahmacun and pide (to go) and both of them were fantastic and very reasonably priced as well. The lahmacun is delicious- I'd put the salad inside of it, fold it up, and eat it like a sandwich. The pide is also really great and next time I will have it to stay VS. to go. The service is great as well and the place is super cute- I will definitely return to try basically the whole menu.

Isabelle A.

Yelp
Just ordered delivery from this place for the first time. We ordered the shrimp shish and beef manti. We were horrified to see ONLY 6 small-medium sized shrimp and very basic salad & rice after paying over $30 for the dish!!!!!!! Sorry guys but this is robbery. The manti was very good.

Yelp
Favorite Ali Baba spot is back in town and better than before! If you want to see hospitality at its best, then definitely come here! Passed by their place and decided to stop by for lunch. They have a large menu with great selections of food and drinks. Every meal is very special and the food quality is top notch. Our server was very kind and professional. She gave us a few recommendations which did not disappoint. The special kabab is out of this world. The appetizers came fresh and delicious. But most importantly they have a brick oven and complimentary bread comes fresh out of the oven. It was all so so delicious I could not get enough! I loved it so much that next day decided to order food online for pickup. The ordering process was quick and seamless on their website. Food was ready in 20 min. When I walked in, it was already waiting for me and their staff was very welcoming. I'm so happy to be working near this place!
google avatar

Kristin H.

Yelp
Came back again for the delicious food. Managed to get some photos of the appetizers (over baked bread, etc) before we ate all of them lol. The mixed kebabs are out of this world and the best dish of the night. Desserts (tiramisu, cannoli, and some sort of Turkish pudding) are also delicious.
google avatar

Alishbah S.

Yelp
terrible food. I think my meat tasted like it had gone bad. the floor was very sticky and the tables were dusty. i found a hair in my soup as well. the owners were very rude in how they were speaking to the customers, they seemed very zionsit
google avatar

Sally B.

Yelp
So many wonderful items on the menu, so little space in my tummy. I enjoyed the sampler appetizer plate, the shepherd salad, and the lentil soup. But the dishes I saw being delivered to other tables made my mouth water. I'll be going back to try some of those - - especially can't wait to try the Turkish pizza!
google avatar

Nathan K.

Yelp
Wow! Loved this place, the food, and the service. The vibes were immaculate. Met Ali the co-owner who warmly welcomed us and we loved all his recs. We shared the mezze platter which was super fresh and flavorful with a huge side of baked whole pita bread then had the Ali baba special kebob on a bed of eggplant. The kebob meat in the special was so tender and wonderfully flavored. All the servers were proud of their restaurant and work. Best Turkish food I've had in a while
google avatar

Yelp
Incredibly delicious food prepared fresh and presented by friendly staff. We really enjoyed all the food we ordered here including the spreads and mains. The stuffed cabbage was a hit, as was the lomo Saltado!
google avatar

Yelp
Our recent visit to the city was for outpatient surgery at Sloan. We needed a good place for takeout and decided to try this restaurant. The food was very fresh, clean, cooked to order, with more than ample serving. Definitely going to dine in restaurant the next time we come down. If you're in the mood for Mediterranean, definitely give this place a try.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant serving tasty, reasonably priced food in a nice ambiance. Lamb shank and mom's cabbage roles are my favorites!
google avatar

Helen S.

Yelp
Seems like a family owned restaurant and our servers were very warm and friendly! We ordered a steak plate and some sides to share amongst group of 3. The balloon bread was very large, fluffy, and steamy. Olive oil was excellent, very high quality. We sat outdoors where there was plenty of space.

Mita R.

Yelp
The food service and ambiance is perfect. Mediterranean and pastas exceptional! Prices are fair do not hesitate to go.

Bark H.

Yelp
Food was night that good I eat a lot of Mediterranean but this was not tasty Food came cold (grub hub) Maybe if you eat at the restaurant it might taste better

Yelp
Great food and wonderful service! The hostess and waiter were incredibly kind to us, and the food was so delicious.

Yelp
I dined here recently for a friends belated birthday dinner & I really enjoyed the food, service & decor. The homemade fire oven Turkish breads are amazing that come to the table & so are the ones that go with the mezze spreads, which are also very delicious. There are 2 sizes of mezze spreads. We chose the smaller one & it was more than enough for the 3 of us. We also shared vegetarian Pide, Buffalo Calamari & Chicken Kebab with white meat. The Pide said it came with green peppers besides tomatoes & cheese but didn't for some reason & was ok & again fresh bread & the calamari & kebab were outstanding. The kebab comes with rice or fries. We chose fries & they were all right. They don't have a full liquor license there so they only serve wine & beer here fyi. This may sound cliche, but the only thing I really wished was different about my dining experience was the music that was being played. They were playing what sounded like elevator music with guitar versions of Adele & Bryan Adams songs & I really would've preferred authentic Turkish music or anything else pretty much. But don't avoid the place for this reason. I recommend if & it is very worth it to go! As you see despite this I still gave 5 stars!

Yelp
Great spot! For those that remember Ali Baba on 2nd Avenue and 46th, this is the relocated restaurant. We live in the neighborhood. Really pleasant and attentive service; food was fantastic. We had the cold appetizer sampler (essentially a collection of 5 dips with that wonderful Turkish lavash, and then shared a Greek salad. The atmosphere was nice on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Food was tasty, prices were reasonable. We will definitely return.
google avatar

Yelp
All I wanted was a Falafel for lunch and I got a beautiful Falafel plate in a wonderful atmosphere that hit the spot. My wife had the lamb kebab and raved a bit. Cooked to perfection.
google avatar

KEMAL B.

Yelp
Food is delicious and authentic. Service was great. Ambiance was very cozy. Clean place. We ordered cold appetizers plate, shepherds salad, calf's liver and 6 different main courses. All were well done and delicious. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Just an absolute wonderful little find. Almost by chance, when passing it seemed a very popular place. We were the only family in there but they made us feel so welcome. Service was absolutely outstanding, and the food was sensational- we had the hummus with babaganoosh for starters with their brick over Turkish bread. My children had the mixed grill, I had lamb shish kebab and my wife had the Ali Baba special. We felt like we were back in Turkey/Europe....from the atmosphere to the high quality of food. We will definitely be back and this has now become one of our NYC food favorites.

Yelp
Amazing food, very well presented, along with superb service.... A++++++. The house special "Ali Baba Special" is awesome along with the Sujuk...

Yelp
Found this restaurant on Yelp. Wait staff was very helpful. We had red lentil soup, lamb pide and citir kebab. All excellent with much to take home. Turkish white and red wines were wonderful compliment to the food!
