My favourite art centre in Kaohsiung- although I guess each experience will be different depending on what exhibitions are on. I found the space and exhibitions to be really well curated.
The building itself is also really beautiful, and the cafe looked great, but we didn’t stay as I had kids with me and I didn’t want to ruin the vibes.

One of the few renovated heritages without placing a noticeable introduction, in a common way like most of the others do, about its historical background on-site. Instead, the operator let the arts and cultural vibe talk about it history by exhibits and the aesthetical setup. It is an ordinary tranquillity out of the extraordinary.

Perfect for a lunch break during the week. Very few people at this time so I was able to fully enjoy the art and the architecture.
Food at their cafe was good, not exceptional but better than expected from a museum cafe.

Amazing little museum. Everyone was very nice and some spoke English. Art like art is subjective but I found some pieces very moving and amazing. Must try the café. So much fun to order the drinks very artistic flavors different for my taste but I still loved the experience. James Turrell exhibit closed until oct 2025 😢. Still worth going !!!!!

A chill and cool place!
Worth visiting the ALIEN Art Centre in Kaohsiung to see all amazing works of many artists here. I liked the exhibitions “Leave a message” and “Responsive vision” plus many thoughtful designs….. We also enjoyed yummy food in the cafe and the ticket fare could be used to cover the food costs!

Great Art Center with an edgy selection of artists and artworks covering paintings, video, photography and sculptures.
Loved the ARMAN exhibition - despite the few pieces of artwork - as well as the other featured artists.
The staff was friendly and spoke English and the restaurant/lounge area upstairs offers a nice selection of snacks, desserts and beverages.

Alien Art Center is a good option when you're in Kaohsiung. It has 3 storeys worth of mini galleries for you to check out. The staff were very welcoming and approachable. The displays had english explanations which was handy for me. Overall, we covered it in 30 minutes. We paid for $120 TWD per person which I consider to be well worth the visit.

Was pleasantly surprised to see a Turrell piece here. We liked both of the shows that were up when we visited and the food at the café was quite good. We actually went down to Kaohsiung from Taipei specifically to visit this art center and it was worth the trek. Keep in mind, the Turrell piece is on view only certain periods of time throughout the day so plan accordingly.
