"Trees arch over boutique stalls in this charming garden market. Expect the usual array of treats (kettle corn), schlock (coconut postcards) and art (Polynesian carvings). Of special interest are the makau —fishhook pendants symbolizing strength and prosperity. Over time, the onesmade from bone turn a gorgeous honey-gold hue from contact with skin oils. Open daily except Mondays."

I love this quiet little market. It’s never too crowded always a parking spot and I find very peaceful place to have some lunch and browse the different boots of local merchants. The birds are chirping and happy and it’s fun to see them gathering around the tables where people eat in the grass under a big tree. I usually buy some things from the local merchants to support Business here and order a wicked good fish burrito from.Shaka Tacoz. Local made soaps and coffee beans are always great here . Plus lots of other goodies.!

Google
Marvels of Hawaii, love this place!! The owner is amazing as well, super nice and friendly and has excellent service. Always willing to answer any questions you have, taste test any products you may be interested in. Love the variety in food - balasamic, tea, snacks, seasonings, etc. and the Star Wars art and memorabilia, it is truly amazing. Definitely check this place out you’ll have an amazing experience!

Google
Great place for Hawaiian souvenirs, food, plants, art, coffee etc. You name it this market seemed to offer it all. I enjoyed all the little shops this place had to offer. Great courtyard space with tables and chairs and everyone working was very nice.

Had a lovely morning walking around the various stalls of local wares. Definitely something for everyone. Everyone was very friendly and keen to help and offering suggestions. The photographer is very talented with an array of ocean and island nature scenes. The beautiful selection of silver jewelry provided a fabulous one of a kind gift shopping opportunity. Our taste buds will definitely enjoy the tea and vinegars we will enjoy once back home. The fish tacos are not to be missed either. We understood Shaka tacos to be the best on the island and the recommendation was not wrong. Fish tacos were some of the best we have ever had - and the venison tacos were perfectly cooked chopped venison (no minced). Will definitely visit again before our vacation ends and highly recommend.

Google
This is definitely the most upscale farmer's market that I have ever visited! The diversity of goods being sold here is astonishing. But, what all the vendors seem to have in common is high quality. The iced vanilla been latte I got from Berry Bird was literally the finest and most delicious coffee beverage I have ever tasted! What I also loved was the absence of crowds and abundance of free parking. The food smelled delicious and there were plenty of picnic tables. I highly recommend this spot. It's an excellent space to eat, shop and RELAX!

Google
Cute little craft market. We did a little Christmas shopping and chatted with some locals will definitely come back next time we are on the island

Google
Great place to shop. Cute court yard with chairs but the flies are miserable. I tried multiple places to sit but all met with flies on my feet and legs and in my food. I'm sure there is a way to fix this! Otherwise great food truck and shops!

Google
This is a cool stop while on the Big Island of Hi. This is an upscale marketplace to come and look. There are food vendors and local artisans. It’s a worth a stop.

Yelp
Shops are cute. Fish tacos from Shaka Tacoz were 100%! Wanted to try the poke too, but was too full. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday morning and it was actually really quiet and slow and a lot of places were opening later around 10:00am. My friends made sure we stopped by because we had to (yes, had to) check out BerryBird Coffee. I'll write a review about them separately. I couldn't give this place a full 5 stars because many places weren't open, so I didn't get to check out many places. It was a very small, cute, and chill marketplace where there were stands selling produce, clothes, jewelry, and various snacks. It was nice to see a lot of seating under shaded trees. Definitely a slow-paced environment. While we were there, we found Coconut Postcards in the marketplace. It's a unique business because they literally mail real coconuts (dried up ones) to wherever you want. It was $36 for the pre-designed coconut, which includes shipping in that price. They have cute designs on them about Hawaii and they also have sports-related designs. I ended up sending one to a friend back home and she loved it. How Coconut Postcards worked: -Choose a coconut with your design of choice. (They can also make a custom design based on a picture you show them, which is bit more pricey). -Write a note with your addresses from who and for who -And, that's it. However, that day, not sure if it was because I was her first customer, but the lady there was a bit gruff and wasn't the most pleasant customer service experience. So, this place is worth stopping by definitely for the coffee and the coconut postcard. Wish more places were open to check out, but maybe in the future if I'm ever back in Kona.

Yelp
This marketplace is a really pretty market. There is grass & trees. There are cute little booths set up along winding sidewalk. Sadly, it seems that only a 1/3 of the booths /stores decided to work on a Saturday. After spending almost 2 wks here this doesn't make any sense. There are tons of tourists but nobody wants to open up shop & sell? Of the few stores that were actually open, Jerome with Hawaiian Balsamics was definitely our favorite store. He was excellent. He told us all about his variety of products & he was happy to give samples to anyone & everyone that walked by. His customer service & friendly personality brightened up the market experience & trust me, this market needs sellers like him. We bought delicious treats & a Tom Kha Gai soup mix. It's AMAZING!!! YAY! Candy was also a great experience. The owners are kind & informative about their homemade, yummy treats. The prices are a bit steep ($20 for a small bag of toffee chocolate candy) but we are always happy to support small businesses & the cost of living in Hawaii is insane. So, after numerous overpriced meals, this didn't seem too bad considering the taste of the toffee was the best I have ever had & I LOVE TOFFEE!

Yelp
Interesting little outdoor market. There were several vendors selling handmade good like trinkets, soaps, clothing, bags, jewelry, coconuts, and more! They also have a shop that sold kona coffee and shaved ice! Sadly, the shaved ice was sold out already when we got there around 2:30pm. I do feel like a few stores sold goods that were similar to ones that I purchased before from china and not actually goods they made or even represented hawaii. The vendors were very friendly and often made small talk with us. We probably only spent about 30 mins to an hour there, but it was a nice stroll.

Yelp
This market offers better souvenirs because they have more locally made items. We found lava & coral bracelet made by local kids. How amazing is that. Please don't buy those cheap China made souvenirs.
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
Yeah, so this is not a Farmers Market. Today it was one pretty decent produce stand. There were limited local offerings. One booth sold toe thongs, which let's just say it, are tacky. Like cocktail waitress at the drive bar downtown tacky. Another sold the giant coconuts painted with NFL insignia. They'd never fit in your luggage. One was painted with Chief Wahoo, the grinning and blatantly racist native American caricature that even the Kansas City Chiefs abandoned. The other spaces were filled mostly with cheap crap that was imported from China, much of it Hawaii themed. This is not about farmers, and it feels generally icky.

Yelp
Shopping!! I didn't realize how close this marketplace was to our resort at Kailua Kona ... just a mere 0.4 miles (1 min drive). The problem for us was finding time to shop, we spent most of our time out of the area and this place was only open from 10:00a to 5:00p. On our last day, before flying out the next day, we were able to find some free time and stopped by here. Yay! Shopping! This is a tiny open-air marketplace situated in an outdoor garden setting with about 20 vendors. Free parking! It was fun stopping by the different vendors just looking until something interesting caught my eye at Jill's Hot Stuff (booth). My mom and I ended up purchasing something from this vendor. Hubby and I cooled off with shave ice from Da Shack by Ohana Q. We relaxed at their outdoor seating area while I enjoyed my yummy strawberry-colada & banana shave ice! Then before leaving and heading out to our car we ended up at OOFOS®. Recovery Footwear... OOmg! these were some fancy and expensive footwear! But they are so soft and comfortable... Mom and I ended up getting a pair of flip-flops (me) and slides for Mom. 'Nuff shopping for the day... Review #2297

Yelp
Final spot to hang out in and do some touristy shopping. If you have gifts for people back on the mainland or you just want a T-shirt this is your spot. There isn't a huge selection of produce or other edibles, but there are lots of painted coconuts and shell necklaces and fancy soaps. There is coffee and ice cream and other snack foods available. Great location, friendly people.

Yelp
Came across this market while we were driving around. There have some cool vendors here, as well as a taco truck.

Yelp
This place was like a mini farmers market. It was okay but also not great. If you are in the area and have nothing to do I would stop

Yelp
I love coming to this Marketplace every time I am in Hawaii. My first stop that I LOVE to visit is Jenny's Gift Shop The Hawaiian made products here are so COLORFUL & DURABLE! All my friends and family back home just love the aprons, bags, placemats and coverups. Jenny is such a sweet person and is always ready to wait on us wl the Aloha known to these islands. ReetaBeeta

Yelp
This is a super sweet little market to pick up local art and souvenirs if you're visiting Kona. But we loved a new business Snack Attack the most!! Butter, the owner, is brilliant and she's got an incredible combination of specialty local and classic soda, candies, cookies, snacks and gifts. We grabbed cool local sour patch kids, Hawaiian sodas, taffy and brownies--and I got a great cooler. We love Snack Attack!!

Yelp
What a nice little marketplace to stroll and shop. We are local, but still like exploring touristy places. And this was a great spot! There was ample shops, seating and vendors were friendly. Da shack was refreshing, we got the smoothie with triple berry and strawberry.

Yelp
Awesome and very friendly people. Very laid back atmosphere and really great prices. Highly recommend Maria at Charming Kona Art and Tyson at The Ocean Gallery& Gift. Thanks Bruce

Yelp
Great place to shop. I needed unsalted macadamia nuts, tank tops, and coffee-they had it all within a reasonable price for Hawaii standards. Hope you find what you are looking for!

Yelp
Ali Garden Market is a fun place to shop, eat and stroll around. My favorite shop is Jenny's. She has so many beautiful Hawaiian items from shirts, dresses, purses, aprons, placemats, jewelry, hats and so much more at great prices. The Hawaiian prints are so beautiful. My family and friends in Texas love the souvenirs I bring home for them each time I come. Jenny is so friendly, helpful and has become a friend. She is filled with the Aloha spirit. Mahalo Jenny for making shopping so much fun.

Lala D.

Yelp
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot. It's CLOSED..and pay parking is stupid with $12/hr. Vendors temporarily moved up the road and spread out.

Yelp
This place is a gem that's for sure! We came here because we saw it on house hunters once lol. We came with high expectations and were sort of let down. We wanted something like a swap meet or something where we would be able to buy lots of little souvenirs or clothes or things of the sort and wound up leaving empty handed. The only reason for the 4-Stars are for the lack of variety I mean there were a few shops and then the clothes were super over priced. Come here if you just want to walk around and maybe get a shaved ice but other than that this market is not anything special.
google avatar

Lawry E.

Yelp
Nicely arranged, clean, marketplace with paved walkways and pleasant vendors who offer nice wares, and good food & drinks in a more relaxed shopping area than the Farmer's Market up by the harbor. It has it's own parking area in front of the center, and in good weather, a spectacular view of Hualalai, the dormant volcano that dominates the mauka background in this area. All the shops are open air, and are locally owned. This is not a source for fruits or vegetables, however. Coffee, jewelry, tee- and Aloha shirts, novelties and mementoes. Great place to pick up some gifts to bring back.
google avatar

Gina B.

Yelp
Ohana Casual Wear has the best selection and quality of shirts ,hats, wraps anywhere on the island. Fair priced and ran by a couple of very friendly guys. When they found out we were from Vegas, we shared stories.

Yelp
A pretty yet slightly underwhelming farmer's market in the south Kailua-Kona area. Ali'i Gardens Marketplace has a vendor for many of your typical Hawaii tourist needs - brightly patterned hibiscus clothing, tropical art, cheap yet pretty semi-precious jewelry, a fine jewelry vendor, shave ice and smoothies, BBQ, etc. I'm not sure if our expectations were just inaccurate or what, but we were a tad disappointed, as we were hoping this would have more "local" flavor (whatever that truly means) - such as maybe more fruit vendors, more than one coffee choice, etc. We walked through it in about 15 minutes. Probably a good place to go with a family for last-minute souvenirs if you have an hour or so to spare, especially if you're bored of ABC stores (hey, nothing wrong with ABC stores). There are shaded seating areas near the food stands, which is a nice touch. One thing I did appreciate however is that none of the vendors were hawkish or inappropriate - mostly offered simply a smile and a good morning, which is a nice change from aggressive marketers.

Yelp
Such a find. Easy bike ride from our condo at Alii Villas. Loved the Shaved Ice and hand made soaps, luggage tags and bags!

Ann C.

Yelp
Not far from town, but quiet and relaxing to shop here! For tourists, the prices are fair and for people who live here, it's a great place to find unique gifts for local friends or to send to the Mainland.

Yelp
Ali'i Gardens Marketplace is a more relaxing shopping area as compared to the Farmer's Market on the other end of Ali'i Drive. It has it's own parking area in front of the center. I found the Marketplace to be quite clean. All the shops are open air and are locally owned. All the shop owners were very passionate about what they sell and do. It was quite evident when you talk to them even if they knew you weren't going to buy anything. I loved that! The Marketplace had a variety of vendors from jewelry, clothing, old-school weaponry, art, coffee, food, shaved ice, etc. We were actually able to watch one of the vendors painting one of his pieces on the spot. We came by on a mid-afternoon and it wasn't packed at all. We didn't stay long but enjoyed our visit.

Yelp
Cool little swap meet type place, especially for tourists. If I'm being honost, I only come here for one reason.......the Shaka Tacos Truck! The Spicy Pork Tacos are killer.

Yelp
I bought a bunch of stuff here because it was so pleasant to shop, the prices were reasonable, the stuff was good quality and they have good food too! The merchant's own their booths and sell their wares without being obnoxious. Just nice local people. Sofie bought me an awesome hawaiian shirt. Everyone needs one of those! There was a silversmith and I purchased jewelry for Sofie. The woman who ran that was interesting. She said she use to grow coffee trees and sell the beans but it was too much work, so they switched to making jewelry. They also do silver/gold items that were very nice. I purchased a piece of fired glass with an ocean scene that I like a lot from Craftworks. They have a plethora of different items. It is difficult to take a picture that shows the quality and artistic value of these pieces, so I took a photo of a gecko instead. The proprietor keeps candy out for the geckos. It's worth the effort to visit his booth to see the geckos. His booth is opposite TJ's BBQ. There is lots of free parking here and the place is not overrun with tourists. It is a clean and comfortable place to shop.

Yelp
Nothing special in this swap meet . Few stores opened . I like Oahu and Maui huge swap meet and reasonable price there.

Yelp
Ali'i has a nice array of local flavors. Let's say if you happen to be on the Hop On and Hop Off Shuttle tour, do stop there. It is a very panoramic marketplace thus your camera will get an eye full of Hilo souvenirs.

Chelsey L.

Yelp
This was really close to our rental so we walked here. The taco truck was super good our favorite was the pork and chicken tacos. We also checked out the little shops. When we went only about half we're open but I bought something at each of the 4 shops we walked into.
google avatar

Ron R.

Yelp
A great Farmers Market in Hilo, Hawaii offering so many wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables. Too bad we couldn't take any back with us.
google avatar

Jacquelin S.

Yelp
A low key outdoor market with a small variety of booths selling everything from shoes to Hawaiian clothing, photographs, wrinkle reducing creams, and Kona coffee. There is plenty of parking and the vendors are very friendly. Check out the phtographer's booth for the geckos hanging out on the walls near him, plus he's a nice guy.
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
A lot little local products of course nice art to parfect for souvenirs and the fresh shrimp is amazing
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
Most of the vendors are really pleasant, and their wares are nice. Great place to pick up some gifts to bring back for your dogsitter or friends. There is one vendor who is a bit high pressure, though. One who doesn't take "No, thank you" gracefully, keeps smiling and trying to persuade you as you walk away. Not fun.
google avatar

Robert T.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place to shop! Every one is so helpful and prices are great! Debi Bradley was so awesome to my friend, Burnell, who cut his foot on the coral. She bandaged him up and solved a huge problem! Thanks to Debi and entire team at Ali'i Gardens Marketplace.
google avatar

Kathy C.

Yelp
Except for a few vendors that sold food, this market was great for souvenir shopping. The vendors were all very personable and displays were nicely done. There were metallic, photograph and oil paintings., coconut "post cards", tee shirts and jewelry. This market also has a restroom. We had an enjoyable time there.

Marie S.

Yelp
Love this little shopping spot. Handmade items, Sasafrass jewelry , shoes eta. Everyone so friendly. Been there 3 times this week!!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Cool little outdoor market...the shops were cute. We stoped for some water & one of the food stands and bought some jewelry as well. My hubby bought some awesome soap for the Kona Soap Company as well as so essential oil spray. I can't remember the owners name but he was awesome...stop by and check him out if you can!

Yelp
We stopped here on our way back to the condo after a drive around. There's a large parking lot in front. The shopping center is clean and nicely arranged w/ signs stressing video surveillance. The merchandise is local. I didn't shop because I didn't need anything, but what I saw was nicely displayed. There was one stall I saw w/ papayas, avocados and other fresh fruit, w/ a polite sign asking people not to squeeze the produce. I saw colorful dresses and shirts in one stall and t-shirts in another. There was a nice looking jewelry stall that I stayed away from because I didn't want to fall in love w/ anything. There's a central grassy area w/ tables and chairs and containers w/ healthy looking plants along the black lava stone walkways. We happened on TJ's BBQ, which we had been intending to visit while we're here and decided to share a hamburger for lunch and buy ribs for dinner. While we waited for the food to be cooked I sat at a table and watched a beautiful little yellow bird w/ an orange head hop around w/ his much less colorful mate. After lunch we walked back to the car, past a bakery that also sold dog biscuits. There's a shave ice stand and bathrooms nearby. Almost to the car, I realized I had left my purse at the table, so I quickly returned and retrieved it. As we were driving out of the parking lot we noticed a shrimp truck like we used to go to in Kauai, parked along the back of the lot. This shopping center is low key but has a lot going on.

Yelp
Nice little marketplace. My friend needed the comfort of Oofos Sandals; she bought two of 'em in different styles. For me, the big find was the Ferrari 100% Kona Coffee vendor selling 100% Ferrari Kona coffee for $25.95 per lb. About 1/2 the price of competing companies. Beans are grown and roasted by the Ferrari Coffee Company, Keauhou-Kona, HI. I also got Caramel Popcorn :-p

Courtney S.

Yelp
Lots of fun stuff to check out! Great people too! Very friendly and fun spot. Bathrooms were out doors but very clean and everyone is very covid conscious.

Danielle A.

Yelp
The marketplace recently opened after being closed since March due to the pandemic. There were less than a third of the vendors open, but we were glad to browse and talk with a few of them. We purchased mini pies (pineapple and peach) from E & B's Sweet Life, which was delicious! I purchased a wall flower vase made of burlap (shabby chic) from Charming Kona, which features a variety of handmade craft items by Mary Jo. There's also other shops that feature quality, handmade items made in Hawaii. I hope to see the marketplace fully up and running the next time we return.
google avatar

Steve K.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday to grab crepes at Whale of a Crepe. Then wandered around the various booths. A lot were closed because it was Sunday. Not the place to go for fruits or vegetables, compared to the Farmer's Market at Keauhou or downtown by the Library. This was our first visit as we usually just go downtown. It's a nice set up, but a little bit out of the way for us and we didn't see anything that really captured our interest in terms of returning. It's a nice location and good concept, but something is missing and I'm not sure what.
google avatar

C. H.

Yelp
Small, free parking, very clean & vendors very friendly (not pushy), loved my experience. Sassafras Jewelry designers have AMAZING pieces! I bought two sterling pieces & love them. I will keep checking this place out regularly & avoid crowd Sunday at Kailua market.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Very disappointed in this "Marketplace"... it's more like a dried up flea market with half the booths closed/empty. They have some nice stuff but In my opinion it's not worth the stop. Nothing spectacular about this place.
google avatar

E M.

Yelp
Open air, nice atmosphere, kind people. The woman at the Aloha Kona Gifts stand is sooooo sweet. She offered to add a link to an anklet for my mother for free. Definitely check her out for nice tokens to take home for a good price.
google avatar

Selene L.

Yelp
Go to the rock/jewelry store. Some of the most beautiful geodes, Quartz and other rocks I've ever seen. The owners are very knowledgeable about all things geologic/mineral/rocks. Also very nice and fun to talk to.

Gina M.

Yelp
Best vegan AND gluten-free bakery called Melba's located in this market. Loaves of bread (spongey not overly dense- made great sandwiches, toast), bread "sticks" with Italian seasons (perfect for our bruschetta), scones were pretty good, and the peanut butter/choc/mac nut cookies were thick, packed with yummy goodies and all vegan and gluten free! Awesome! Hope there's a bigger brick and mortar bakery when we come back to the Big Island next time.
google avatar

Christina W.

Yelp
Decided to visit this place after reading about it in the Frommer's pocket guide. Eh... It's okay. I had a sandwich from the stand at the end of the marketplace and it was okay. The shave ice was $4! Skipped that. Most of the stands were vacant and much of the stuff there was very kitchy. It's worth a quick visit but won't take more than 20 minutes to see it all.

Madison X.

Yelp
Love this place. Stop here every time we come. Locals make the items (well some things like the soap and coconut postcards). The BBQ here is AMAZING!!! Can't wait to go back.
