I noticed an article in a recent TORONTO LIFE magazine: Neighbourhood Crawl: What Kardinal Offishall loves about Queen West on AUGUST 14, 2025. I emailed the article to my wife on AUGUST 15, 2025 and we MADE it to Ali’s Roti on AUGUST 27, 2025. (The) Kardinal Offishall was very cool looking in his photo and we can now vouch for the positivity he shared about Ali’s Roti. It was a bit of a RoadTrip for us. No blazing summer temperature on this particular day. My wife ordered Chicken Curry Roti. She’s not afraid of some heat. Shane was very attentive and wanted to ensure he understood what we thought we wanted! Some heat was added while cooking it up. We both ordered the same meal. We each received small sauces on the side so we could be our best Heat Distribution Agents. Shane told us we’d be happy sharing one roti. How wonderful was that? He was right. My wife and I could have polished off one roti each, but it was unnecessary. Shane said we could order more later if we were still hungry. Loved my roti. Tender chicken. We did ask for a bit more ‘gravy’. Great experience. Happy customers came and went. Shane took my order for two patties afterwards. He challenged me to come back to try their soup. Will do! Bravo, Shane, and Team. Thank you.

Best dhallpuri roti I've had in Toronto. The neighborhood might be far and not as polished, but I definitely recommend coming here to try out the chicken curry dhallpuri wrap. The hot sauce had this floral and fruity flavour to it and the dhallpuri wraps were soft and fluffy. The man at the counter was also nice. We ate in, so we noticed how friendly he was. We'll definitely come back, I still can't get over how good the curry was. I also recommend getting a ting (grapefruit soda) or a peardrax (pear soda) to drink here.

In the heart of Parkdale (a neighbourhood that is a bit rough around the edges) exists this gem of a restaurant. In my opinion, the best roti at least in the west end. Enormous in size, delicious, lots of meat and you can request extra gravy. You’ll definitely be satisfied after. The staff are great too.

Classic flavours and a stubborn refusal to change what ain’t broke. One of the last places to get a great double downtown and the roti’s are simple yet so delicious. One favour, please? Bring back the boneless goat.

From start to finish, our experience at Ali's Roti was absolutely remarkable. I went with my kids (their suggestion because they always crave it - they got lamb dhalpouri roti and chicken stew dhalpouri roti), and we were blown away. You also really can't beat getting a doubles (with chickpeas and tamarind) for $4! So fluffy, so delicious, and so affordable. We were served by Shane, who was patient, friendly, and so great with the kids. His customer service truly stood out and made us feel at home. While we were waiting for our food, we saw another customer walk in and ask to personally thank the chef. She said the daal was better than her own and that it brought her back to childhood memories. Watching that heartfelt moment assured me of how special this place is. When our food arrived, we not only enjoyed every bite, but we also had the chance to connect personally with both Shane and the chef, Dechen. They came out to greet us, and that personal touch meant a lot. To top it off, the kids were treated to free ice cream samples, and we were introduced to their peanut punch—something I wouldn’t have thought to try on my own but am so glad they brought to our attention. It was absolutely delicious! This place is more than just a restaurant—it’s a community experience filled with heart, authenticity, and truly nourishing food. You don’t get that at chain restaurants/in the suburbs. Ali's Roti is unique, memorable, and full of flavour, and we will absolutely be coming back many times in the future. 🥰

Google
My first time ordering from Ali West Indian Roti Shop located on Queen. I ordered by UBER Eats as I was craving soup. My order was two Chicken Provision Soup. For me hearing Provision I was excited to know it would include dumplings and various other West Indian Ingredients which make soup so very tasty. I was awaiting my delivery. The Chicken Provision Soup was ok. There was a taste in the soup that I felt was over taking the essence of the soup. I couldn't place what it is but, my mother tried the soup and agreed and told me what it may be but, for my review I don't remember the name, lol. If that taste was not in the soup it would have been an amazing soup. West Indian chicken soup is always a great addition to any meal as it's like a meal in itself and always worth a try. Based on my taste buds I would not be running back to order but some other persons would love it and as said soup is always a good buy.

Yelp
I had the aloo pie, doubles & chicken Roti Everything was delicious & wonderful. The tamarind sauce is the bomb! Ali's Roti shop is THE BEST in Toronto ON. Oan did I mention the vegan homemade coconut ice cream? It's the best in the world!! I love this place & will always visit when I'm in Toronto...

Yelp
Found this spot on IG and decided to give them a try as other influencers mentioned they had the best roti's in Toronto. I got the curry chicken which I thoroughly enjoyed the flavor of the chicken inside, my problem was with the roti. As I cut more into the roti, it looked as though it wasn't cooked properly like patches of dry flour throughout to the point it didn't look appealing. I also grabbed a double which I enjoyed, they are much bigger than the ones I get at home in Va. I never had a Trini soda ~ Solo kola champagne which tastes very similar to the Jamaican version. The gentleman at the front counter was very nice and patient. The decor was definitely a Trini island feel. Bright colors and hand painted pictures. They have seating available for dine-in experience.

Yelp
Ali's is my favourite roti shop anywhere in Toronto. Anywhere. I dare you to find me a better West Indian roti, particularly the paratha. Get the boneless jerk chicken with the roti separate and enjoy the most buttery, flaky, sumptuous roti you've ever had. Dip it into the amazing jerk sauce and grab a chunk of the most tender, juicy spicy jerk chicken you've ever had...perfection in a bite. Do it. Do it now.

Yelp
A solid roti joint. Had the goat roti. The flavor was on, but somehow it felt like it was missing something basic, perhaps just some salt would have made a difference. And it would have made a big one, actually, since you can't really salt your roti filling adequately once the whole thing is made. The goat was tender and the sauce was flavorful and spicy. I was still expecting something a bit more rich, but it hit the spot. I'll note that I was the only one dining in, but that there was a steady stream of folks coming in for orders. As far as ambiance goes, you'd only come here for a date if you know you get hungry when you're breaking up with someone, but it was a pleasant place to sit for a lowkey dinner.

Yelp
I'm on the hunt to find my favourite Caribbean spot in Toronto and this restaurant was on my list: The flavour of the curry chicken I got was pretty tasty but the consistency of the curry gravy was like a bunch of spices made into a paste, not a sauce. I presume the rice & peas soaked some of it up but it was overall quite dry. That being said, the flavours were pretty balanced and I appreciate them adding some pepper sauce on the side (it wasn't nearly spicy enough without it lol). The salad on the side was just a chunk of tomato and a couple pieces of lettuce -- nothing too exciting there. The portion size was decent for the price; I paid about $18, but I've had bigger portions of curry for $14/15 so it was a bit steep. Overall I'd give this place another go because the flavours were good, but I'll choose something different next time...maybe the stew chicken roti!

Yelp
I am Trinidadian and I haven't been to Ali's in years so I decided to buy me a goat roti today, I'm not sure who made that curry but It was packed with pepper and NO flavour it was horrible I threw it out! I was so Disappointed. Do Better Ali's its not all about the money! Y'all Lost Your SouL Shame

Yelp
I visited during Caribana 2023 after founding on Yelp. I was looking for a place with good doubles and roti. I'm plant based so I had two doubles and ordered the all veggie roti to go (consisted of spinach, pumpkin, and Chana). My husband and friend both had the boneless chicken roti. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and even more the staff! Both of the guys we spoke with were friendly and made us feel welcomed. Next time we're in Toronto we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is exceptional, very authentic southern-Trinny fare. May I strongly suggest: - Doubles to start, but only get 1 since they are filling - Curry goat - Soursop ice cream to round the evening out The decor isn't great, but then again you are not there to eat the decor, you are there to eat authentic Trinny food - that is what matters. Purveyors are super nice too.

Yelp
Ali's is my go to for authentic trini food. I always get their curry and paratha separate. Highly recommended to have the rotis separate. I got delivery during covid and the food was hot and tasty. It's very filling so you will be satisfied (I eat a lot of food). Taste just like the curry from Trinidad :) My favourite is the plantains! Simple yet delicious dish!

Yelp
Amazing service and the food was amazing! I got the curry goat and curry shrimp with bus up shot roti!

Yelp
In light of everything happening in the world, like so many, I wanted to do something to support a Black-owned business. I decided to order Ali's for dinner. I'm so f*cking happy I did. Perhaps my best delivery dinner of quarantine, and there have been a lot... A lot a lot. A shameful amount. First of all, I was skeptical of how well a roti would hang tough through delivery. Don't be a worry wart like me. It was perfect and I was quite jealous of my husband's delicious dinner, a stewed chicken Paratha Roti. What is this magic?! I'll be ordering that for myself next time. Luckily, my jerk chicken dinner and bonus beef patty were fabulous, too.

Yelp
Ordered takeout Roti for the first time last night from this establishment and it was delicious! We had shrimp and channa rotis as well as boneless chicken. Perfectly spiced authentic Trinidadian curry! Will definitely be back to sample more from the menu.

Yelp
As a lover of West Indian authentic roti, I want to say that this place did not disappoint me. I ordered the chicken roti with a side of plantains and it was really nice. The chicken was quite flavorful . This is a small little place and the service is quite quick. They also have the authentic achars and ice creams for Sale. I know I will visit again to try the goat roti as well as other things on the menu.

Yelp
I'll be honest I haven't tried much here at Ali's. Straight up anytime I pull up here, I grab a peanut punch and pattie. I'm a peanut punch connoisseur, I hate graces. But any place that makes their own peanut punch just hits different. The peanut punch and pattie combo here is undefeated whewwww

Yelp
Owned by Muhammad Ali and Ali Larter, this shop knows how to do Doubles. They may also know how to do Double D's, but I haven't had the nerve to ask. What to get: Doubles. What else: Ali want are doubles. If you haven't had Doubles before, you're missing out. They're a Caribbean specialty, they're spicy a.f., they're vegetarian, and they're absolutely wonderful. They have chick peas aka Garbanzo beans in them and I have no idea what else. I don't want to know. I just know they're amazing. There are plenty of places in Brooklyn to get them, none better than Royal Bakery. In Buffalo, Michelle's makes them amazingly. And here in Toronto, Ali's is the place to go. They are absolutely perfect here. Wet, spicy, delicious. And of course dirt cheap (less than $3 Canadian and very filling). The guy who runs this place is really friendly too and his prices are great. There are lots of other amazing things on the menu such as Rotis, and you may also want to sample their baked goods such as the awesome Currant Roll. Do not miss Ali's, in the best and coolest part of multi-ethnic Toronto. And don't be surprised if you see Ali Campbell of UB40, Ali Son Sheedy, and an Ali Cat here too. They all love doubles almost as much as I do.

Yelp
I rate this place on a regular basis. It deserves 6 stars. Everything is good here. The food, the other customers, the staff, the venue, and so on. It's all good. Vegan friendly, ital friendly and halal friendly. Much love to this place and the people here.

Yelp
Tried this for the first time today and had a horrible experience. We ordered one beef patty, 2 dhalpourie rotis and 2 doubles for delivery and they packaged everything in one large ziplock bag. It arrived in one big soggy inedible mess and the textures of all the food was ruined while the stuffing leaked out into the bag. Everything tasted just okay but the horrible packaging ruined the food for me. I would never order from here again.
google avatar

Yelp
I saw people writing about this place having food just like mother's rotis. I never had West Indian rotis before, but I swear if I had a West Indian mother, she would make rotis like these. Wow. Super yum! I first walked in thinking, man $13 bucks for this paratha stuff? I don't know if I actually want it. But the guy at the counter just had this solid look like, hey, my customers appreciate me. So I took the dive. It didn't look like much. But then I tasted it, and boy was I wrong! The rotis are heavenly and the goat curry went perfectly well with it. Definitely one of my new favorite spots! *Disclaimer: I was very hungry before walking in, but I'm sure it's still good

Yelp
After a several-year hiatus from reviewing, this spot inspired me to start again. Let me just say that this place is the real deal. Don't get me wrong, the ambiance ain't all that. However, it's clean and the staff so so so friendly. I came here on a visit to Toronto and this was my first time coming to a West Indian roti shop. I've had roti before but never like this. We stepped up to the counter and asked the woman behind it for recommendations. She said the goat curry with the paratha. YUMMMMMMM. Of the food we had in Toronto, this was by far the most memorable and delicious. We got a beef patty to start because we were starving. I would save the stomach space for more curry instead. Oh, and the hot sauce? Yeah, it's actually hot. Definitely get some if you like spicy food.
google avatar

Yelp
Knowing that Toronto is home to large Caribbean population, I wanted to try some Trinidadian food. What a wonderful introduction!! The cashier did an amazing job of explaining all the different dishes and making recommendations. She even came to check on us during the meal. We had both the goat Dhalpouri and the chicken paratha--so much good food and relatively inexpensive. We couldn't even finish it all! It was served with a seriously spicy scotch bonnet hot sauce that was great. Very happy to have eaten here.
google avatar

Yelp
I am not a "Double" expert, but I found Ali's West Indian Roti Shop quite good. A good place to stop by for some cheap good food! The ice cream here is made in house, great for a hot day as it is frozen solid! Soursop flavour was refreshing! A great pit stop when you are in the area!
google avatar

Derwyn R.

Yelp
I got doubles, currant rolls, pholourie, Peardrax and peanut punch. Everything was on the point. The peanut punch was slightly watery but still did the job. The doubles was so tasty I went back for more. I would of went back after that but the line started to grow. I definitely recommend Ali's.
google avatar

Elliot R.

Yelp
Out of the several option for Roti in the area, Ali's is the best one. Authentic doubles from the streets of Port of Spain. Delicious pollori. Staff at Ali's is great. Service is fast and courteous. I've only eaten their curried chicken roti which served as a first and second lunch.

Yelp
I'd been a devotee of Island Foods since my Trinidadian husband first introduced me to his country's delicacies- roti, doubles, aloo pie- when we first met in 1995. I emigrated to Canada to join him in 1997 and end the cross-border long-distance thing, and since then I've had more Trini food than I can recall, mostly, again, at Island Foods. In 2000 we moved to Calgary for my job and West Indian, never mind Trini, is thin on the ground there, so when I come back to the 6ix (which Drake must have named Toronto in deference to the massive popularity of cricket in the city, right?), I make a beeline for my faves- almost all of which have closed or moved. In the city centre, all of Drupati's, Island Food at Village by the Grange, and Caribbean Roti Palace are no more, so I walked the hour-long walk from my Airbnb to Island Foods.... And it wasn't that good. And they hadn't made the barra for doubles yet. So I finished my meh eggplant and spinach roti and headed the 15 or so minutes to the NW and hit Ali's. I'd never been there before- yes, in 23 years of acquaintance with Trinidadian cuisine, I'd never been here. I wish had got to know Ali's way back when. The doubles are astoundingly good! And big! I got two for $2.75 apiece and that's dinner. I'd love to try more of the menu- and it's a big menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered pickup and everyone loved what they got. The goat curry roti, veggie roti, and jerk chicken low carb plate. My roti was enough for 2 meals so very good value. Glad I found this gem and it's only a few blocks from glory hole donuts!!
google avatar

Dimple B.

Yelp
Came here for the first time today. My west-Indian esthetician told me that this was the one place close to downtown where I could get authentic Trinidadian food. I am east Indian but I have had my fair share of west Indian foods, especially when I lived up in Scarborough. This place is definitely comparable to Drupatis and Mona's Roti up in Scarborough. Doubles are very very good. Moist fluffy fried dough, with delicious chana in between. The pepper sauce used in the chana is excellent. The roti was delicious as well (chana and spinach), and huge! I ate a quarter of the roti and one double, I was stuffed afterwards! This place is cheap, quick, hearty, and delicious. There also was ample seating, and friendly staff. My only qualm was that it was very messy to eat, it would have been nice if they wrapped the roti and the doubles better. The lady did give me a container afterwards to hold the roti, perhaps they could offer that to clients to begin with. Overall a great place for a quick, delicious bite (and leftovers)! Thankful that this place is not too far from my home.
google avatar

Patrice T.

Yelp
Very well received!!! I had the goat buss-up-shut and the paratha was soft tasty and steamy. The goat was perfect and the pumpkin just great, it taste like d trini ting self. Now be wary of the pepper sauce, very hottt
google avatar

Dan D.

Yelp
Had the veggie Chana and potato and was the most boring roti ever. No flavour, felt like I was eating nothing but I was chewing? Never will order from here again, don't recommend. Wish I could give it a no star.
google avatar

Serial Diner D.

Yelp
I moved out of Parkdale 9 years ago and had Ali's tonight for the first time since! WHY DID WE WAIT SO LONG?! Seriously the best West Indian food in Toronto! We had shrimp roti, stew chicken, double beef patty and plantain. The roti shell (paratha version) was so pillowy and delicious! Chicken and rice 'n peas were to die for. Don't think twice - order it now!!! We ate it so fast I forgot to take pics.
google avatar

Ali S.

Yelp
I think this was one of the first west Indian places I tried in toronto when I was a kid. I guess I always liked it cuz we have the same name :) I really like the doubles here and also the goat roti, but any of the rotis are great. They don't put as much filler potatoes in the roti like other places so I really like that, and the goat is boneless too. The doubles are decent but I'm still having trouble finding a doubles place that I love. They've got their own hot sauce which is pretty damn tasty.
google avatar

Max S.

Yelp
So this place is fast, and the roti I had was definitely edible- but it was overpriced, the ambience was crummy, and for a dish that's so filling, the portion was too large. Maybe it boils down to: Roti just isn't my thing. Too uniform for such a large meal.
google avatar

Violet M.

Yelp
Tried their roti for the first time since moving to the west side and had their rotis delivered and it's my first time seeing rotis in paper bags. The chicken roti had absolutely no salt flavour so they definitely forgot to put salt. The roti was dry as others have mentioned and I hate that they don't peel the potato in the roti. I was excited to see a place on the west end with good reviews but it is nothing comparable to Indian roti house in dt.
google avatar

Sylvia B.

Yelp
The service was nice and pleasant. I liked the decor, the island painting on the walls. The food was ok. We had the king fish very dry and so was the roti. The beef roti was bit chewy.
google avatar

Intiaz R.

Yelp
Totally disappointed with this place. I'm from Ottawa and we don't have any decent West Indian restaurants only catering operations. Whenever visit Toronto I stock up with large orders to get my fix. We were staying down near Rogers centre so the nearest joint was Ali's. I ordered duck curry, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein, roti and goat curry. The duck curry and goat were acceptable and mostly authentic (yes I'm a born Guyanese). However the fried rice and chow mein were honestly the worst. The fried rice had far too much 5 spice lots a veggies hardly any soy sauce and didn't taste like typical West Indian fried rice. The noodles were the same concoction of veggies and noodles that's it. Normally you these two dishes would be more on the Chinese side with similar sauce. If I would have checked the order before I left I wouldn't have accepted and paid for it.
google avatar

Adrian H.

Yelp
Excellent Roti with friendly staff. The spice and flavour makes this the best Roti in TO
google avatar

Kris T.

Yelp
This is one of the best roti shops in Toronto. The goat roti is to die for. Also they have delicious doubles. I live in the east end and travel all the way west just for Ali's.
google avatar

Daniel D.

Yelp
Probably the best West-Indian food I've had downtown. The roti is fresh, tasty and doesn't sit too heavy. Boneless chicken is usually my default setting if I'm checking out a new place, and it was terrific. Spicy, rich and tender, they didn't overdo it with the potatoes and added the perfect amount of gravy. The doubles are delicious, but I will say they're a little doughy for me. I've always preferred a lighter crispier style. Definitely the place to get my roti fix in the city without venturing too far off.
google avatar

Peter D.

Yelp
Really great hole in the wall roti shop along the bustling, integrated, and variety-filled strip of Queen Street West. You can't (as far as I know) get Indo-Caribbean food in Chicago so my fiance and I were craving a double or roti as soon as we landed in Toronto for New Year's Weekend. The storefront itself is deceptive because the inside is rather large, with plenty of seating. Together we got the beef and chicken roti, separately assuming we could each stomach our own. We were both way off as the portions of the roti are as other reviews state - hefty - but delicious. The curry is well spiced, with just enough kick where you can still taste the meat and the roti shell is perfect. Customer service here is friendly and attentive. More importantly, the product was great for the price and quickly prepared. I can't compare this to nearby Bacchus but I can certainly say that Ali's is as good as any other roti I've had.
google avatar

Tracy S.

Yelp
This is my go to roti place! Ali's never disappoints. I ordered both their curry goat roti and their vegetables roti ( potatoes, channa and spinach). Flavourful and freshly made! Also try their doubles ( I ask for mine spicy). They're great little snacks and are filling.

Yelp
Best Jerk Chicken in Parkdale. No frills, just great food and warm smiles.Super good value.

Yelp
So I've been reluctant to try out this roti shop because the exterior is more reminiscent of a Subway sandwich shop than a Caribbean restaurant. I've come to realize that because I learned to love roti sitting on the kitchen floor of the Trinidadian lady next door when I was 5 years old, I don't think good roti can come from any place that doesn't approximate that experience. Ali's West Indian Roti Shop proved me wrong. Really wrong. Even if I take off points for not having hole-in-the-wall street cred and preparing the food out of the sight of diners who want to know what's going on with their food, I have to rave about how good this roti is! A perfect dahlpuri wrap with that wonderful yellow stuff underneath (the friendly lady behind the counter told me this was split peas). Nicely textured and flavoured curry filling that seems to be seasoned for Canadians, but would easily be elevated by the addition of some hot pepper sauce (Grace, of course!). Ample serving sizes meant two chicken rotis fed four people back at my house and Ali's seems to have figured out how to put together this delicious package without grease soaking through to the paper bag. Like the other roti purveyors on the block, Ali's runs a clean shop and if you can get past that feeling that you're at Harvey's or Subway, then you can enjoy roti while looking at starving artist sale oil paintings of a vaguely Caribbean landscape. Ali's wins my prize for best roti at Queen and Lansdowne.

Yelp
HOLY SHT THESE TRINI DOUBLES ARE OFF THE CHAIN! I cant handle it, the cravings are worse than being a heroin addict! I want those doubles in my mouth every second of the day. The way they prepare them is so unreal its like no other double that i have had before. Lightly crisp on the outside tender in the middle with chickpeas that are curried perfectly and too top it all off they have the most UNREAL TAMARIND sauce for them!!!!! Trust me on this one best doubles in Toronto hands down!

Priyank T.

Yelp
Ali's is my go-to place for some authentic Trini roti. I think it's by far the best roti shop in Toronto, but ofcourse I may be biased. Afterall I have been eating here regularly for the past five years. Ali's is a no-frills place with very friendly staff - both in the kitchen and the ones that take your order. You can eat-in or take out (I almost always do the later since the restaurant is not designed for ambiance (unless tiles, bright lights and metal chairs is what you want)). My favourite is their signature dish - the roti. I've tried all possible combinations but chicken roti is the clear winner, closely followed by chickpea-pumpkin roti. Lately I have started switching to the vegetarian version (you can choose or combine chickpea, squash, spinach and potato). On the downside I've noticed that their roti shells are occasionally not fresh, but that's rare. My second favourite dish is the chickpea sandwich aka 'doubles' which is a simple arrangement of curried chickpeas between two fried flat breads (think 'puri' from India). The fritters, drenched in oil, are a must to satisfy your junk food craving. How bad can they be? They have chickpeas, that makes them extremely healthy junk food (yeah right)! The place also has some other west Indian fare, such as cassava and some imported drinks. Try the coconut icecream. As an added bonus, you get to see entertaining sights while you wait for your food, such as people with "East-Asian" features speaking with a Trinidadian accent (Read this: http://priyank.com/weblog/2009/11/11/foreign-languages-in-toronto/) Enjoy! Secret tip: Ask them to add tamarind chutney to your roti or doubles, they won't automatically do it.

Yelp
Ali's Roti is very good. Of special note is their hot sauce or "pepper". If you don't have a taste for spice, make sure you ask for "light pepper" or you'll get damaged. Their pepper is AMAZING. So tasty and hot and they aren't afraid to use it! Their doubles are great too.

Yelp
Just ordered from them off of Uber eats. I got the jerk chicken meal. The food is pretty good. The portions are a joke. It was basically all rice and only 2 pieces of chicken that were small and on the bone. Very overpriced for a lot of rice.

Yelp
So like many others, I crave the doubles. If you have never had a double, it's a must experience. I had my first double years ago at this little West Indian grocery store at Hurontario/Dundas in 'sauga. Ever since then, I haven't found anywhere that makes them. To be honest, I haven't REALLY tried that hard to look for 'em... but when I moved to Parkdale and found this roti shop, I knew they'd have them. Bingo! First off they're cheap. Second, they are vegetarian. Third, they are AWESOME. Filled with chicpeas that are curried, perfectly spiced. If you like it spicy, as for hot. YOU WILL GET HOT. I haven't ever eaten them with the tamarind sauce, but I would imagine it's great. Soft chewy patty, delicious chickpea filling. Just go. They rock.

Yelp
The owner of this shop (apparently) has a frank hate for African's and African/Caribbean people; he is always deliberately rude to me and of my friends. He says snide words under his breath, when serving us, and always sells us his 2days of takeout stuff. ...

Yelp
Since Island Cuisine in North York closed down and I'm too far from Pickering to satisfy my need for I Heart Roti, this has been my greatest discovery. Generously filled, deliciously spiced dahl puri roti filled with pumpkin (!!) and an assortment of other fillings. Service was incredibly kind and pleasant, and that alone made it worth it. I have been here 3 times in the last week with different staff, each time bowled over by the sweet cashier at the counter and the amazing food. Doubles are huge, greasy, filled perfectly and utterly satisfying. Make sure to ask for pepper sauce on either if you like it hot. Their house pepper sauce (or whatever bulk brand they may be purchasing) is definitely spicier than your Grace variants and has a great watery texture as well. I personally prefer the general spice and salt level here than Bacchus, as I've yet to be disappointed by watery, bitterly spiced or turmeric loaded curry gravy. Look, I know Mother India is right down the street (and I'm a huge fan myself - perhaps even edging it slightly over its sister Gandhis) but consider this: when I leave Toronto once again after this brief visit back home, it's going to be Ali's roti tucked in my carryon to eat on the plane ride home.
