Hotel is slightly dated looking and really expensive tbh. But food is generally good and location is convenient enough as it is walkable to important places in Alishan. There is also a shuttle bus that brings you between the hotel, Alishan train station, bus transit station, and visitor centre. A great plus to the service, except many times it’s kinda confusing. There’s no clear signs to indicate where the bus would pick you up etc so we nearly missed it when reaching Alishan train station for the first time. We also missed it a 2nd time when the driver drove past us, probably thinking that there’s no one needing to be picked up. Attached the schedule for the shuttle bus as of April 2025, hope that helps someone. Service from front desk area was mid at best, sometimes good enough, but sometimes they act like they have better things to do than to answer your queries. ESPECIALLY when their shuttle bus services are so confusing and we needed some clarification. Anyway, the service by the restaurant staff and shuttle bus drivers were superb, they were very friendly and efficient. Overall, genuinely not sure how to rate this hotel. Oh we also spotted a monkey right outside our balcony 😅

They have a great observation deck for the cloud! No need to book fancy rooms. Just order coffee/tea at the lobby, and with the purchase, the front desk will allow us to get up to the deck through the elevator. Great deal. We went up there around 3pm and got nice and nearly exclusive enjoyment of the cloud view while sitting at the benches sipping hot drinks

Beautiful hotel and lovely staff. Clean rooms and great breakfast. Close to trails and shuttle bus to visitor center and train. Only downside is I wish the bathrooms had more privacy - full doors on toilet and shower area would have been appreciated.

This is a solid four star hotel in a stellar location if you’re wanting a posh stay at Alishan. Good food(dinner and breakfast included), nice rooms, some historical grandeur, and imo generally well designed. It’s an old hotel that’s been well maintained, and the price is for the location: right at the main trails. If you’re ok with that it’s a great stay If you’re looking for five star accommodations or super posh and modern four star this is not for you. But if you want a really nice stay in an awesome location with history and great views, this place is unbeatable.

There are more economical accommodation in the area. You get what you paid for. We chose the more expensive half boarded room option. It came with buffet style breakfast and dinner in a banquet like setting. The meals have varieties and qualities from local cuisine, asian dish to western dish, and the service is diligent. The family room is clean and spacious with good design. The hotel is at a location right next to forest trails. The hotel itself has many facilities. The shuttle service helps us get to the train station and the tourist center, remember to check the detailed instructions from the hotel. We enjoyed our stay and recommend to those not price sensitive.

High up in the mountains, great spacious rooms, clean and tidy. Stay for the view and fresh air, go hiking in the mountains and see many trees and huge ones as well. Dinner buffet mostly Chinese cuisine but still good, fruits need to be prepared more ofen as the watermelon was out very soon. Breakfast buffet decent as well amd again fruits need to be more prepared, watermelon ran out quickly.

Excellent experience at the Alishan Hotel. Great hospitality! Love the buffet spread, the starbucks coffee at the lobby. Most importantly, the 50s Coffee House that is tucked in between the modern and historic wing! I had the V60 drip coffee! Superb! Service by Natalie (the staff at the coffee house) was superbly friendly and good. A true representation of Taiwanese hospitality! 🔥🔥🔥

Was given a ugly wall facing unit . I think cos I booked through 3rd party. After much discussion with the staff that they changed a better room for me. So this experience has marred my stay at Alishan Hotel as the room rate is not cheap but they dumped a ugly room to you. After that, the related staffs have been unfriendly and pretend not to see me at the lobby. So I will not go back ! Book at your own risk through 3rd party ! However the staff Jeff who has helped to solve the issue , his service and professionalism are highly recommendable .

Yelp
We got the old wing with a room on the 7th floor (top floor) facing west. The furniture and the decors were very dated and the carpet was worn out. The bed was firm but comfortable. Nevertheless, the room was a welcome sight after waited 6 hours spending around the park - as we were exhausted. We paid $400 a night on a Wednesday through hotels.com but the checkin sheet showed Expedia as the agent. No question that it was expensive but you have to consider the included amenities such as the free shuttle bus, buffet breakfast and dinner - and a nicely maintained and decorated ground. We can see the sunset from the rooftop too. We got a wake up call at 3:30 am for the sunrise and was still not sure if it was worth it.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely setting. Lodging came with a buffet dinner and breakfast. Clean and roomie. Beautiful mountain vista views. Hiking to settings with Giant Red Cyprus trees as old ad 3000 years. Hiked our first day here. Trails are well kept. We took a train ride early this morning to see the sunrise. Breathtaking!! Hotel coordinates travel to train station and has a shuttle to pick you up in town to connect with your transportation up or down the mountain. Truly wish we were staying another nite.

Yelp
My family and I stayed here recently while we were on vacation. The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was very nice as well. The views were great because got a little porch and we got to see the beautiful trees. You even have a window by the bathtub if you wanted to soak and look at nature at the same time. The dining area on the first floor was okay. They had a dinner buffet and breakfast buffet. It was nothing to write home about but it was still good enough to fill my belly. Overall, I would stay here again if I had the chance.

Yelp
Modern & only hotel in a special place. Got an upgrade - too bad didn't have enough time to fully enjoy the property. Service was excellent and room came equipped with a faux fireplace & space heater. When there are no clouds, it's a good location for star gazing. Breakfast buffet was delicious (variety of food) & they were good about replenishing. For those catching the "sunrise train", unfortunately, it's probably viewed 50% or less of the time; however, the hotel does provide tickets to catch the sunrise train & tasty ginger tea while you wait for the shuttle to catch the train. There's an artificial waterfall that looked amazing, but it seems to only run at certain times so kinda missed it (good for water conservation).

Yelp
Being one of the few hotels situated within the national park, Alishan House brings together old and new but still has a bit of way to go. If you stay here and drive up, you ned to park in the national park base (often limited spaces) and take the shuttle up to the hotel. Alternatively you can take the local bus up and then transfer to the shuttle. The price to stay here is slightly above moderate and comes with a rich history and the location is truly fantastic. Some rooms in the old building could use some updating but it has old charm and has hosted senior officials and presidents. My favourite moment at the hotel was seeing the dreamlike Sea of Clouds during sunset on the roof of the hotel and visiting the historical part of the building (which contains some exhibits - photos, art). When you stay here you usually will dine at the international buffet located on the ground floor or head upstairs for a traditional chinese meal. If this does not satisfy your hunger you can take a 15 minute stroll towards the national park village where there are several food carts, restaurants and even a 7-11. There are plenty of walks close by but remember to bring a flashlight at night. In the morning you can also take a short tour+train to go watch the sunrise!

Yelp
The advantage of staying at this hotel is you can walk out anytime exploring the national park instead of taking shuttle bus in. The so called "new wing" of the hotel is showing the sign of aging at many areas already. The service is good. The dinner and breakfast included was mediocre, kind of disappointing!

Yelp
Very poorly maintained hotel. Rooms are not very clean in general even after we switched room. Their buffet dinner restaurant is a joke. Bad food and they didn't really refill the food trays unless you asked them. The chef who cooked noodle and cut roast beef didn't care about quality of service either. However, the waitresses were all very nice and friendly. The hotel has so. much potential, but poorly managed.
