"Sugar sands, shallow waters, and consistently smooth seas are just a few factors that make Captiva Beach a Southwest Florida favorite. The shelling is great here, especially after storms, but it’s the sunsets that make it famous—and why Captiva is considered one of the most romantic beaches in the state. For a swim, stroll, or sunset viewing party, it can’t be beat. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the dolphins that are regularly spotted offshore."

I wasn't there long, but it was a nice beach. Limited parking due to still being refurbished from the past hurricanes but still a beautiful view and a beach that's not very busy.

Get here early if you want to park in the lot, there’s not many spots and if you can bring the smallest vehicle I’d recommend it. Yes, parking for 25 dollars is insane but if you decide you want to stay longer you can add on for 15 more dollars for the rest of the day. To us, it was worth it bc it was not crowded, there are shells but walking on the sand barefoot was not uncomfortable like sanibel. No bath house, just a porta John. The water was perfect, no seaweed.

On the way here, I thought we were going to find a destroyed beach. It is awesome. We didn't know if the parking meters were in effect. It's $25 for 2 hours or $40 for 7 hours. Water is great. Good atmosphere.

$25 parking for 2 hours. $40 for 10 hours. Porta potties. No rinse off area. Despite those details, you are an 8 minute walk down the beach to The Mucky Duck for yummy food and drinks. The beach itself is clean and full of big beautiful shells. Not crowded by any means. The water is super teal and the waves were fantastic! The temp of the water wasn't what we expected as locals. Refreshing! Dolphins were spotted too! Really a perfect spot for a $40 day.

What a joke!! Horrible parking. these jerks have the nerve to charge a minimum of $25 (it's for 2 hours only!!) No option for 1 or 3. If, after 2 hours, you want to extend?..well that's another $25. But, wait, there's more! You could just pay $40 and park for 8 hours. LOL!!..which is cheaper than 50. 🤔🤔🙄🙄🙄🙄 ridiculous. $40 to park for 3 hours. Jerks. I parked in, what I was told 5 seconds later, was a non-parking spot. I didn't know. Never got out of the car!!!! Parking girl told me I would have to move. OK. No problem. I immediately moved. Again, we never even got out of the car. It was literally 5 seconds or less. She called the Sheriff and gave my license plate #. He immediately came over to ticket me (but by then I was back in line waiting for a regular parking spot to open up. wow!!! what a jerk she was. She cost us 40 minutes of waiting in line... and also trying to get us ticketed! wow. She said "if you park for just 3 seconds, that's considered "parking". ridiculous AND corrupt. Sheriff was corrupt too because he was going to issue the ticket.. until she changed her mind. Why the heck is he taking directions from a private business and employee??? He does NOT understand his own job. HE should be deciding who gets tickets.. not her!! What a chump he was. And, it's not like we can just go to another parking lot or a different beach. Next closest is 1.5 hours away ..and it took us 2 hours to get there!! ohhh!...and 2 hours later, they weren't even changing for parking!,! wow. way to mess over the paying customers ! Just a joke of a city/town/county and thr beach itself was horrible.

This is definitely my favorite beach! The parking was free after 6pm which was nice. The beach was so clean and it wasn’t crowded at all. We watched the sunset there twice and both times it was stunning! The water was really nice too.

Facilities are well maintained at this location. Parking is tight, so do go prepared to wait for punters leaving, so you can pull in. This is one of my favorite beaches in the area. You can perhaps get more peace and quiet further down into Captiva and beyond. But, that would entail about an hour drive back to Fort Myers. Speed limit here is between 30 - 45, it takes time to go places. Nature here is relatively pristine, but it has gotten a lot touristy since I've moved into Fort Myers about 4 years ago. The rocks can be tricky and you gotta know how to navigate. Would suggest supervising children as slip, fall and cuts are all too easy on these rocks. Enjoy!

Great place to go shelling, the beach was pretty nice, not too crowded, but parking is extremely limited! Pay for crossing on to the island, pay for parking. It was worth while as part of our vacation, but probably wouldn't do it again. There are nicer beaches, but this one is good for shells. We were there when the tide was already coming in, but we were still happy with our finds.

Yelp
Alison Hagerup Beach is the most northern beach on Captiva Island. The beach is named in honor of Alison Hagerup who was a dedicated administrator for the Captiva Erosion Prevention District for 20 years. She championed refurbishing the coastline and lobbied for beach re nourishment. She was known for being able to get people to join together for the benefit of the beaches. Alison Hagerup passed away in 2008 and she is buried in the nearby historic Captiva Cemetery where friends and family lay shells on her grave in honor of her love of the beach and her work as a public servant. There are only two roads that run the length of Sanibel all the way to the end of Captiva where this beach is located. It's 14 miles from the causeway four way stop to the beach but the ride is one of the most beautiful you will ever take. Once you arrive the beach has pay parking open from dawn to dusk and port a potties. There is signs everywhere reminding you to pay. The beach is adjacent to the private South Seas Islands Resort. It faces west making it the perfect place to watch the sunset. I arrived a few minutes too late this time but there is now denying the beauty of Captiva and this pristine beach. Thanks to Alison Hagerup it is preserved for all of us. ,
