Alitanes is a great place in Ano Meria, in the middle of Folegandros. The village is very nice and the views are fantastic. ||The house we stayed at was excellent. Very comfortable and clean. We had loads of space and the bathrooms were nice. Good terraces and equipped kitchen. ||It is right next to the bus stop, but I would recommend having a rented car or ATV so you can fully explore the island. ||Anna the hostess is a darling!

We stayed in Villa Levanda for four nights in August, high season on Folegandros. But we felt like we had the whole island to ourselves at Alitanes. The villa is beautifully designed and incredibly spacious, set on the corner of the property looking out over hills lined with stone walls, and the sea beyond. We were two families with a total of three teen kids and we loved the spacious bedrooms (ours had an entire wall of stone) and kitchen/living area. Andreas and Anna (and their charming daughter, Natasha) could not have been sweeter or more helpful. They gave us daily recommendations on walking/hiking trails and beaches. Since there were no rental cars left, we relished the chance to really get in touch with nature on this stunning island by traveling to and from beaches on foot (Ok, I'll admit, we also took the single taxi to exquisite Chora one night and hitchhiked twice!). This family has put so very much love and care into this place (Andreas' mother was born in the house that's now their delicious Windmills Restaurant) and it shows in every detail. Some people might prefer to be in the center of the action (as much as there is on this quiet island) in Chora, Aggali or the port, but for us it was the perfect peaceful retreat and we feel like we truly got to know Folegandros because of our stay at Alitanes, after 5 days on Milos (in Adamas). There are a few minimarkets right across the street which supplied us with coffee (important, since area cafe's and restaurants don't open until 9:30am) , fruit, milk, etc. and there's a wonderful little bakery up the road as well as a fabulous souvlaki restaurant just down the road a few minutes. We enjoyed two dinners at Windmills, where Anna's passion for creative twists on local cuisine shine through in every dish, every bite. Our children, ages 13, 15 and 17, fell in love with Alitanes and didn't want to leave! Thank you, Andreas and Anna for your hospitality and devotion to Alitanes and your guests. We hope to return some day!

We, a group of 5, stayed in late August, at Narkissos villa. What we liked: It was quite spacious, clean, quiet and beds were confortable. Nicely decorated and suitable for 5 people. Just across the street, there were 2 mini markets, where you could find almost everything. What we think, could be improved: It was quite expensive for what it offers, not good value for money. Kitchen was equipped with coffee machine and utensils, but there was no bottle of water, no coffee, not a little oil or basic kitchen stuff. We asked if there was a bottle of cold water when we got there, but they didn't even offer us a glass of water. You don't really get the chance to enjoy the outdoor spaces, as the front yard is all windy and really sunny - no place with shadow, and the backyard is not so nice and i think you share it with another room. Wifi was disconnected sometimes during our stay but not for long periods. Overall i think that the villa is decent, but the service and the lack of a balcony-yard, where you can chill out, does not live up to its price. Personally, when I spoke on the phone with the householder, I considered him to be a bit rude. In person, during our stay, we had no problems.

I have to admit we were concerned about staying in the small, hill side village of Ano Meria BUT it was the best move we made. Its the ultimate experience of Folegandros and why we travel there, the calm, seclusion and the off the beaten track holiday.||The apartment was super clean, comfy, all mod cons with an amazing view and unobtrusive, hospitable hosts. You can sneak away from the busy Chora and hop about the few hillside restaurants and hotel.||The beds were super comfy, modern air con, best bathroom we experienced, nice hot shower and plenty of space.I dare not say book it up as there are few rooms but its a must. Thank you Anna and Andreas see you next year xx

We (Belgian family that lives in North Italy, 3 teenage kids aged 17-15-15) stayed in Alitanes for 3 nights early August 2016 and enjoyed every single minute of it. Hosts Anna and Andreas are proud on Alitanes (and they should be) and take care of you in the real sense of the word: from the booking via email and telephone to the pick up at the port late in the evening, with booking scooters, with tips on what to do in beautiful Folegandros, with the great food that they prepare and serve with passion in their little restaurant, .... The house (Lemonia) was spacious and tastefully decorated with a mix of modern and traditional local style; it is fully equipped with comfortable beds, excellent air conditioning, big bathrooms, 2 nice terraces and... wifi that functions all the time. We and our 3 kids enjoyed Folegandros and are happy to have met Anna and Andreas... we can only recommend it to everyone. Ciao!

My husband and i stayed at Alitanes this August (villa Lemonia). We were more than satisfied by the establishment as well as the services provided. Interior design and decoration was astonnishing (everything was bought by Cocomat) and trully relaxing. |Not also that next to villas is the restaurant by the same owners which served probably the best breakfast, lunch and dinner on the island. |

This is really top quality accommodation in a traditional village location - remember traditional villages are spread along a road not necessarily around a village green or square. The accommodation is really big and with a fully equipped kitchen and lounge there's lots of space.||We were in a one bedroom villa that had an adjoining room. For us it was fine as we could close our bedroom door and couldn't hear anything but we did feel conscious of making any noise as we didn't want to disturb anyone in the adjoining room based on previous reviews. ||Owners are around and clearly care but are a little awkward. We did have a minor issue and the owner picked us up from and took us to the ferry. More advice about the island and a more relaxed manner would make this even better.||I agree with the advice about the need for a car to get around and if you want immediate access to restaurants and bars Chora, which is charming and choc full of lovely accommodation may suit you better.||Folegandros is a magical island

(+)Nice apartments, good amentities, very good beds, good quality of everything.||(-)...Loud music from the hotels restaurant from the morning. There is no way to get the amazing feeling of Ano Meria. There is a veranda, but music. If you open the bedroom window in Lemonia House, again music. If you tell the owner about the music, they say ''its for the restaurant''....Also, cleaning girl must be a bit more careful.
