The Best Rome Trattorias: Where to Eat on Your Next Roman Holiday

"A short walk from the Spanish Steps, tucked down a closed-off street with a shaded terrace and spacious dining room, this place mixes well-heeled locals and tourists. Waiters in white coats keep a brisk pace and service can be brusque, but excellent pasta plates—particularly bucatini alla gricia and rigatoni alla amatriciana—make it worthwhile; book online or try a walk-in lunch." - Regan Stephens

Authentic Roman cuisine in a warm and lively setting, just steps from the Spanish Steps! Alla Rampa is a real gem—friendly service, generous portions, and delicious traditional dishes. The antipasti buffet is a must-try, with a wide variety of fresh and flavorful options. I had the pasta with basil pesto and it was one of the best I’ve had in Rome! Also had that when I was first time there, I just love it! It was busy, but the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. Perfect for a cozy Italian lunch or dinner with charm and character. Highly recommended!

👌 We were quite satisfied with our dinner at Alla Rampa. Everything was well-prepared and high quality. The dishes were delicious, especially the meat which was cooked very nicely. The atmosphere was cozy and charming, especially in the evening. Prices are reasonable considering the quality and the location. There’s a cover charge per person, I think it was around 3 euros. If I visit Rome again, I’d definitely consider coming back for dinner.

Exceptional food, service and vibes. I felt as if I have never had pasta before. It tastes exquisitely delicious. Perfectly cooked and presented. Many thanks to our waiter Michael Angelo who provided us with a remarkable dinning experience. If you are in Rome, don’t miss it and try it first.

Google
Very great location. Near spanish steps. Went there because of reviews. But was greatly disappointed. Went on Saturday evening for dinner. There was not many people despite it being a weekend. The waiter was not happy when we requested to sit inside instead of out, as we wanted to enjoy air conditioning due to summer heat. Snobbish service attitude. Pasta was average. Zucchini flower with stuffed dish was oily and unappetising. I had higher expectations for the Gnocchi dish but turns out to be just plain and average. Price is on high side. Average EUR 25 per dish. Won't be recommending any friends there.

Google
Our experience started with a waiter’s bad manners, which didn’t put us off — anyone can have a bad day. Unfortunately, it only got worse. The service was very poor. The food was okay — not bad, but definitely not worth coming back for. Our dinner ended with the waiter throwing the bill onto the table, which summed it all up.

Google
The atmosphere is wonderful… The food was soooooo tasty… And the service by our waiter and the others was phenomenal! Best restaurant in Roma, by far!!! I will definitely come back during my next visit.

One of the best meal I have had in my trip! Great food, fantastic service. I have already recommended to several friends I’ll definitely come back

Google
had a amazing time here! beautiful atmosphere, great food, and amazing service. close to well known scenery such as the spanish steps and the trevi fountain. Gabriel was the BEST server, and made us feel taken cared of and welcomed.

Yelp
My family and I decided to have a late lunch at Alla Rampa after visiting the Spanish Stairs. To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I wanted to try out a restaurant that served steaks because I wanted a break from the Pastas and Pizzas. Ah man what a huge mistake that was... The server was clueless and didnt know what was good on the menu. He brought the food out then disappeared for a while until it was time for us to get the cheque. The restaurant is nice and we sat on the patio for lunch. Vibe was okay. Overall Food & Vibe 4/10

Yelp
We have been coming here for at least 20 years and I've always enjoyed the buffet, alas, no more buffet. But times change. We had a good meal, but service was slow, but yes, it is Italy and therefore to be expected.

Yelp
After a long day, Mr. Q and I went to the restaurant nearby the museum with the longest queue. Normally, it works when we don't check Yelp/TripAdvisor reviews. However, this place is simply awful. And the host who walks around doesn't help much either when you ask him to take an order. He then mumbles something back in Italian and walks away. But he never gets english spoken waiter to take orders. I'm extremely surprised that people who work in a restaurant in a busy tourist area don't speak English at all. If you speak Italian, you get seated quickly, but if you don't? You will watch people who come later, cut the queue and get in without reservations. Service is extremely slow. Tap water is not free. ---Bread: Outdated bread and soup sticks. They put it on the table as if it's free. Other people didn't touch much either; they recycled a lot of bread, then sell the bread to the next customers. We have a slice of bread that looks like someone else touched it before. Ugh. --+Raw beef carpaccio with grapefruits: It's a nice bite if it's not too sour. Together with the arugula and grapefruit, the beef is completely flavorless. --+Lamb brain croquettes and fried zucchini: Lamb brain croquettes are just fried lamb brain with a flour coating. It's a bit gamey, but it's textured nicely. It's like eating fried meat tofu. Fried zucchini is nice too; there is too much zucchini than lamb brain croquettes. ---Veal with mushrooms: Inedible sour dish with chewy and dry meat. Steak: Steak came out with a layer of super salty bacon. It's terrible. Probably the worst meal since we've been here. This place is an obsolete tourist trap.

Yelp
We enjoyed our visit to Alla Rampa. The food was delicious and the service was prompt and attentive. We especially enjoyed the live music from the various artists who came by to sing or play for the guests. It's worth a visit!

Yelp
Absolutely not. Two words... food poisoning. I normally always check reviews but after a long day, sore feet, and a rumbling belly we just opted for alla rampa. Boy was that a mistake. We ordered rosemary steak and chicken parmigiana. If two dishes could be slathered in sauce and still somehow taste like nothing, it would be these. I questioned whether I was in a simulation where food doesn't actuallu exist. My parmigiana was a few broiled cutlets slathered in a cheese sauce? And it gave me food poisoning, which was a great end for our last day in Rome. :/ Everything was overpriced, servers weren't especially friendly, and food was awful. One star for location.

Michael K.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible service and mediocre food. Very expensive and tried to add a huge gratuity to the check! Avoid this place!

Yelp
I was in Italy on business and stayed around the Spanish steps area of Rome and found a quaint little Italian restaurant. Amazing ambience, the waiters black coats ties. The food was absolutely amazing and the desserts of course the bread. That's the best part about traveling always get to try the great food.

Yelp
My cousin's husband is from Rome and recommended Alla Rampa and it did not disappoint! There were 12 of us and the accommodated us inside during the oppressive heat last week in Rome. Food was delicious and drinks were good! Definitely check them out AND they're a very short walk from The Spanish Steps!

Paul V.

Yelp
My favorite place. Love to go there while in Rome. Nice ambiance and good food! Was there at first 10 years ago, and honestly still enjoyed their food after returning in August!

Yelp
Alla trampa over here is a huge tourist scam. Don't go here because they will take advantage of the fact you are a tourist. Ordered the lamb pasta and i had more shattered bones than actual meat inside. Literally one bite of meat and 10 spoonfuls of shattered fragments of bone. At the end of the meal, they will even have the audacity to ask you for a required tip. They will try to play it off like oh the service charge wasn't included. When no one else had to pay it. Just avoid the place they have marked up tourist prices too for meals not even worth it. Save your money go somewhere else.

Victory P.

Yelp
i dined alone without reading prior reviews save for the recommendation of a friend who gave me a long list of Roman restaurants. It is pricey for sure but the waiters are seasoned and look dapper in their white jackets and black bow ties. I had the Carpaccio di Manzo with rucola e parmigiano. The portion was generous and with great balance of flavors. My main was the Spaghetti Vongole which I ate every last noodle of. It was superb. not very heavy as other roman pastas tend to be - the sauce was quite delicate and refined in fact. I am seeing a lot of negative reviews on the service. Fortunately for me I was treated with much courtesy and attentiveness. even jovial with each other, with other customers and with me. I will surely recommend and return as well.

Yelp
Head server was very rude. Particularly towards tourist or the fact that we were Asian. Very rush to take our order even though there was not many customers there. Charged us for the bread/oil fee even though we did not touch it, and to top it all off they charged a 10 Euro "tax" in cash even though the service charge was already included in the bill. This place seems to not hesitate to hussle tourists or minority customers. Food was alright, I give them a C for food. F for customer service.

Yelp
Being seated inside was a very refreshing touch to the area around. Fitting in around the atmosphere was a fancy touch by the waiters and servers in great clothing and great personality's. The service was very good, straight to orders and very fast about getting us our food. Heading into the food portion was 5 great spaghettis. A great marinara and basil touch to the tender spaghetti. A good ratio of sauce to pasta as well. If the bread was a little softer then I would be able to dip and eat with the sauce but kind of hard which is docking it a little bit. Overall good restaurant with good food and service. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a well prepared meal and a fun sight inside.

Cathy J ..

Yelp
Outstanding pasta dishes - and enough for two people with their generous servings! Great wine list as well....i will return!

Yelp
Can't find too many dishes in Roma that is vegan .ah well so be it. The pasta was al dente. With porcini mushrooms. My favorite dish in Roma . Nice meaty texture of the mushrooms made my night . And the bruschetta was made with fresh tomatoes. Mmm good . A tip while traveling here .ive noticed some places charge a service fee to dine. So now you know .this place doesn't. The service wasn't that attentive.

Peggy F.

Yelp
Everything we ate was delicious! The best tiramisu! Was within walking distance from our hotel which made it even better. Listened to an opera singer performing outside. Dreamy!

Yelp
Most people associate dining out with eating similar meals at familiar places, but every once in a while, a special dining experience comes along that leaves a lasting impact. Ristorante Alla Rampa is an Italian masterpiece that caters to all five senses by featuring the perfect blend of a classic menu in a historical venue. Placed smack in the center of Rome between Vatican City and the Colosseum, Alla Rampa is located in a building that dates back to before the twentieth century. The restaurant that stands today was first established in 1973. Hard to find but easy to smell, the establishment is just a few steps away from the Piazza di Spagna. This famous square is where the Spanish embassy was headquartered in the seventeenth century, and features the iconic Spanish steps. Although the restaurant is in a quieter part of town, the nearby historical monument is typically bustling with tourists, which draws plenty of attention to Alla Rampa. Walking to Alla Rampa is a unique experience because the small paved road in the Piazza di Spagna turns to cobblestones as you approach the restaurant. Tucked away on the first floor of a tall building, Alla Rampa can be easy to miss if you do not spot the banners that hang over the entrance. Upon arrival, a waiter who is fully dressed in either a suit or a button-up white shirt will greet you and lead you to a table. Whether you are seated inside or outside, soaking in the ambiance of this authentic restaurant in the heart of Rome is only the beginning of the relaxing, slow-paced experience that diners can expect. The city of Rome has over 15,000 pizzerias and 8000 restaurants, and though Italy is filled with numerous opportunities to experience authentic and delicious Italian food, no other restaurant is better than Alla Rampa. The signature detail of Alla Rampa is that nothing is pre-made; everything is fresh. This plays a huge role in the taste of their classic Roman dishes. While you peruse the menu, it is impossible to ignore the rich smells coming from the kitchen. The first thing that you will taste is freshly baked bread with crunchy edges, making your mouth water and leaving you hungry for more. As you take your first piece of bread, you must add a dollop of butter because the warmness of the bread will instantly melt the butter. What really sets Alla Rampa apart from other Italian restaurants is that all of their tomato-based pasta dishes feature the best tomatoes in the world, imported from Sicily. These tomatoes can be found in dishes like Caprese, Burrata, Rigatoni, Tonnarelli, and Spaghetti. Tomatoes are common in many American and Italian dishes, but the first time that the authentic Sicilian tomatoes enter your mouth, the sweet tang will hit you with surprise like lightning striking your meal. In the classic Spaghetti dish, the flavorful tomato sauce floods the dish with redness but also helps balance out the heat from the freshly cooked noodles. If you prefer a white sauce pasta, the sheer smell of the Tonnarelli will make your eyes water and will ooze buttery flavor into your mouth. No Italian meal would be complete without a homemade dessert of Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, or Gelato, and Alla Rampa's selection of sweets will delight your taste buds and leave you feeling perfectly full. Although the food is the most memorable aspect of Alla Rampa, the varying architecture located within the two indoor and one outdoor dining areas are also distinctive. Outside, there are flourishing arrangements of flowers and plants that give off a European sidewalk café vibe. If the sun is blazing, Alla Rampa provides shade in every outdoor seat and if the weather is cool, the outdoor heat lamps will keep you warm. If you choose to dine indoors, the main indoor dining room is large enough to accommodate a wide range of guests and features incredible ancient architecture. In between numerous brick arches that line the room, shelves of wine bottles and aged black and white photos fill the walls. On one side of the restaurant, you can see old pans attached to the wall as well as a case of nineteenth-century tools. Even the stairway leading to the restroom is a walk through history with displays of ancient cooking tools and artwork. The historical location, mouth-watering food, and architectural ambiance of Alla Rampa set this restaurant apart and make the dining experience a special, once in a lifetime opportunity. Ristorante Alla Rampa produces the highest quality food in Italy, leaving you with not only a satisfying meal but a memorable experience.

Yelp
This restaurant truly has the best tiramisu I have ever had. Entrees were amazing as well. Highly recommend, will always stop by here in Roma.

Carmelo R.

Yelp
If you're looking for good service, then do yourself a favor and skip this place. I waited 35 minutes on a table but all I got was a beer and a water. Customer service is not their thing. Wouldn't recommend it at all.
google avatar

Bjj M.

Yelp
I'm not sure if some of these lower stars are due to waiters that have since been fired, but the service and the carbonara here were spectacular on my trip in summer 2022. Our server suggested a wonderful Grechetto pairing and this was a special first meal in Rome that we will forever remember!
google avatar

Eddie D.

Yelp
Food was excellent : Service was very slow and waiter was inattentive would have to ask him 2 times to refill my beer and 3 times to get the table an extra bottle of gas water - Sword fish pasta was excellent

Jane C.

Yelp
My all time favorite in Rome. Get there early. Wonderful menu and we loved sitting outside. Going there since 1976. Never miss it in Rome. Great location at the Spanish steps

Yelp
We spent 10 days in Italy and this was the only bad meal we had. I ordered the linguine with crab, which was a half of a crab on top of linguine. Normally I don't mind cleaning crab but the taste of the whole dish was awful - I only took a couple bites. This was honestly the worst food I've had in a restaurant in probably years. We had also ordered a zucchini appetizer and spaghetti Bolognese that totally lacked flavor. The service was also poor. The only beers were German, which I found very peculiar... and now I know why - definitely only targeting tourists. When I told the server that my dish was bad/didn't like it - he just said "ok" and then brought the check (and he repeated me so I know he understood what I said). We chose this place because we liked the vibe from outside as it was lively... but Do not waste your time or money here. We ended up going to another restaurant for better food a couple blocks away.
google avatar

Ash M.

Yelp
Ate twice here when we were in Rome. The first time was excellent. Orders were carbonara ossobuco and fried calamari. The service was excellent. The second time food was good . I ordered grilled sea bass , tripes and calamari again. The service was barely minimal. It was not the language. I will say the food was authentic

Rolando J.

Yelp
The food was overpriced, in my opinion. Our waiter could have been nicer too. He let us know (a couple of times, actually) that "service was not included", but he didn't bother to tell us that the bread (that we didn't order or touch) was somehow obligatory. 12 euros for bread seems a bit like a scam.
google avatar

Foodie S.

Yelp
Not very good. Service was slow and impersonal but that is expected in Italy. Amatriciana had no flavor and the Veal Bolognese had no bolognese and it was super salty. The food however was flavorless and overpriced compared to other hotels nearby. I think they doubled the price for having the waiters wear bow ties. Not worth it
google avatar

Yelp
I went to Alla Rampa with neither high or low expectations. It was one of those days where I was starving to death! Literally to death!! The restaurant was pretty empty so it was very easy to be seated immediately. We were immediately given bread with our meal. Little tough and dry. Even if you don't want bread you get it and €1.50 is added per person to the bill. A common practice in Italy Started with the Caprese salad. Tomato and mozzarella with fresh basil, doused in a nice olive oil. Very good You will notice there is no picture of this because I inhaled it before I thought to take a picture. It was as beautiful as it sounds. Trust me. I had the spaghetti bolognese which was very tasty and my girlfriend had the seafood tagliatelle which was the star of the night. Absolutely fantastic. A couple of drinks and our bill was €60. Not bad But why the 3 stars you may be asking yourself. The service was way off. The waiter seemed so much in a rush that he was walking away even before I was finished ordering. Didn't ask if I wanted another beer or more bread or water. Nothing. Very inattentive. Brought the plates, cleared the plates. And nothing else.
google avatar

Larry B.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. Yes a little touristy BUT there are some great deals. The house wine is great and inexpensive. One of the best deals in Rome. The Fritto Misto is to die for. So much food for a great price. The zucchini flowers are amazing. Never a bad meal in 4 visits.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
I was part of a party of six, we were in the vicinity of the Column of the Immaculate Conception. Considering the area was swamped with tourist, I am assuming that the Ristorante "Alla Rampa" is a touristy restaurant. The ambience was pretty cool. The response time of our server was OK. I wasn't too thrilled about the way my pasta order came out (seemed not cooked enough for me), but upon returning to the US, I was told by a fellow American that Americans doing know how pasta should be prepared. Whatever. The chocolate gelato tasted like a rich tasting dark chocolate candy bar.
google avatar

Pat T.

Yelp
Food was great. Location is a little tucked away but still close to the Spanish steps. Wish I could have tried more of the food but we discovered Alla Rampa on our last night in Rome. Locals eating at this place is always a good sign. If you are in the area definitely give this place a shot. The pasta was wonderful as were the waiters.
google avatar

Jenale N.

Yelp
Located in a very high touristy area, but when the weather is hot and you're starving you'll choose anything nearby. The service wasn't that great and food was descent but again it was near the Trevi fountain, a high populated area. I knew coming in that being so close the service and food wasn't going to be over the top, but I did enjoy their spaghetti.

Beth B.

Yelp
Atmosphere is so cute. Food is terrible, and we're not food snobs. Go somewhere else. The pasta bolognese smelled exactly like Chef Boyarde, and we would know.
google avatar

Eddie H.

Yelp
Amazing food near the Spanish steps. We came here out first night just because of the location and having outdoor seating but after we ate the food, we decided we had to come back before leaving Rome. Don't underestimate the ratings as it's not a tourist trap. This is a spot for the locals and the owner was seen eating next to us, greeting people as they came or went.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Location location location is all they have going for them. The pizza was okay (4 cheese) and the meat ravioli were okay as well. The pizza and pasta portions were good and the service was good. With so many locations to choose from this was our least favorite meal we had in the three weeks we were in Italy. I would stick with the pizza if you stop here as it was better than the pasta.
google avatar

Agnes W.

Yelp
We came here for a quick lunch. It was a decent place for lunch. Ordered a carbonara and it was a lot more than I expected. It was a simple and satisfying lunch.

Hugh K.

Yelp
Food, service, prices all excellent. Would highly recommend. Fantastic location and atmosphere.

Shawn W.

Yelp
Mediocre. It's right downstairs from the apartment we're renting. Fried zucchini was nice, spritz was good. Bread and Caesar salad were pretty bad. Not very good service. Won't return.
google avatar

Hailey M.

Yelp
This restaurant was FANTASTIC! The ambience was perfect and the food was simply incredible! The service exceeded expectations. I highly recommend the cream puff dessert!

Gabe H.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by our AirBNB host as it is across the street from where we are staying. The restaurant was crowded which was a good sign. I wanted to get one of their recommended dishes, the fettuccine with porcini mushrooms. Of course as their signature dish, they were out of porcini mushrooms. I asked our water for another recommendation and he said to try to the crab with fettuccine in a red sauce. The service was generally slow and it took about 20 - 25 minutes for our food to come out. We were not offered any olive oil or balsamic but were given a basket of stale bread. My meal was basically inedible. It tasted fishy, and required the direction of many small crab legs that were hairy and unappetizing. My mother had a plate of ravioli which was flavorless and undercooked. I explained the quality of the food to the waiter was sub par and he just sort of shrugged and laughed. Its sad to waste one of a few meals in one of the best places for food in the world. I would strongly advice against eating here where there are so many great places to dine in Rome.

Yelp
We ate at Ristorante Alla Rampa for dinner and sat outside on a Sunday night in early October. The place was packed and we sat outside. Note, if you do not like sitting next to chain smokers, go inside. As I think I might of developed lung cancer at dinner. Once you're seated you will wait for 15 minutes before they notice you and bring drinks or a menu. Then, be prepared to wait 30 more minutes before your meal comes. It is at this point when you will begin the process of eating a whole loaf of bread as you wait for your meal. I was startled when I asked for olive oil. This is the first restaurant that does not give you olive oil and basaltic vinegar. They brought us a spicy olive oil pepper dish in a cup. It was so hot nobody at our table liked it. Actually after 20 minutes I did not care any more because I was starving. My mouth was burning, so I just drank more good Vespa wine. The wine was good. Also be prepared for Pavarotti Jr and a female tenor to sing from the stairway above. It was very entertaining as they proceeded to sing inside the restaurant. Pretty cool. It saved me from not having to take my wife to the Opera. However, don't get caught up in the entertainment like we did. Looking back on the evening, this is where my sister in law was robbed as we were watching the singers. A party of four professional thieves at the next table behind us discreetly moved from another table, and with wrap draped over chair back likely reached in and took her Am Ex, was gone quickly , charged $9600 at Louis Vuitton store - go figure after hours in store . Fortunately AE sent txt alert. Overall the food was ok. A little pricey. My vegetable soup was hot but not flavorable. The place is so understaffed for the amount of customers. We waited 30 minutes to get our check. We also asked the manager to come over to ask about the video camera above us to see if they could identify the thieves. The manager never did come over. He know of the situation of the theft. Stay away from this place.
google avatar

Susan P.

Yelp
Overpriced and the food wasn't fantastic. We were here 17 years ago in our honeymoon and remember this restaurant as being so much better. It was ok, and the staff bordered on rude. Tab was €90 for lunch and I think that's too much for a single course plus coffee.
google avatar

Mohammed A.

Yelp
They have good food but they don't serve pizza :( The place is nice The price is reasonable.

Yelp
Had a trusted recommendation by one of our knowledgable friends who used to live in Italy and thankfully happened upon it our first night in Rome and realized it was only a short distance from the Spanish Steps and near our hotel. We went back later when our traveling buddies arrived and after a long day of hiking the streets and sites of Roma, our friend's back was killing her. Alla Rampa wasn't open for another 30 minutes, but they didn't bother us while we sat at one of the outdoor tables and played a game of euchre. Good memories in Rome! At 7pm, it was getting a little chilly, and after using the toilet and seeing the interior decor, we decided to move inside for our dinner. They did an excellent job of designing the interior to look like a small outdoor section of Rome. There is a huge antipasta bar right as you walk in, but we opted to bypass it this evening and head straight into Prima Piatti. With our trusty liter of vino rosso della case, I opted for the Penne Gruyere and Smoked Ham (Excellent!) and followed it with a meat dish that I wish I remembered the name of - it was also superb, but I ended up splitting it with one of our friends because it was filling. We polished off the meal with tiramisu and caffe. A perfect way to end our day in Rome!
google avatar

Jeanette Jane G.

Yelp
I had a lovely dinner here. Surely, not the best in Italy, but it was certainly much better than the American Italian I am used to having in the States. I had the bruchetta to start off and then a steak, medium rare. The food was delicious and so was the prosecco! The service was friendly and a tad slow, but this is Europe...they don't depend on tips and take their sweet time. Trust me, in Spain, it's worse and they don't rush you out of the restaurant in order to turn tables for the tips, so consider the waiting a plus! I will visit Alla Rampa when I am in Rome again.
google avatar

Gordon E.

Yelp
Disgusting piece of shit restaurant. Brought wrong dish, never brought correct one. Left hungry. Tried to charge us for bread we never asked for and did not receive. Rude waiter. Horrible in every way.
google avatar

J P.

Yelp
I was so hungry and tired since I arrived in early Saturday afternoon. I rushed myself out to Spanish Steps, first stop of my Roma journey. The food was okay. I ordered a cheese and salad dish as appetizer then Carbonara. There was so much bacon fat in the pasta dish. The bacon was not crispy as I think should be. The servers they had on the floor were older and all looked grumpy. There was a server very rude to his customers. I don't understand Italian but I definitely could tell by his facial expression and he mumbled as he walked away from the tables. He rushed them to order food. Inside the restaurant was empty. There were probably 7 tables in the patio area.
google avatar

Toni O.

Yelp
I recently came here because my hotel was a few steps away and it was very crowded. We've tried so many Italian restaurants in which we liked but this place put them to shame. Once I've eaten here once I couldn't stop! I had the bucatini, w/ bacon and pecorino in which was my side dish to anything else I've gotten it was just that good. We also had their sole, snapper, and chicken parm all soooo good!!! Anytime in Rome I will always recommend ALLA RAMPA!!
google avatar

Terri F.

Yelp
We spent five days in Rome and this stands out as the very best meal we had! Spaghetti bolognese, all Rampa pasta (bacon and cream), warm profiterole with cream and warm chocolate sauce. The local businessmen were eating here, sign of a good restaurant.
google avatar

Luke D.

Yelp
A short walk from our hotel (Albergo Ottocento), this restaurant was suggested by the front desk staff when we asked for local recommendations. We had several dishes in our group but one that stood out was my Spaghetti with mixed seafood, the best seafood pasta I've ever had. It had clams, mussels, calamari, and shrimp in a light olive oil and lemon sauce. The pasta was prepared perfectly al dente and the seafood had the best taste. The best way to describe it is with something I heard or possibly read in the past, and that is "it tastes like the sea". Other standouts were the Linguine with Artichoke, and Spaghetti with Claims. If you're in the area I would recommend trying this place.
