Allegria

I stayed at two different hotels in Udine on two different nights, and decided on Hotel Allegria as the winner!||What set it apart was the fact that on a Sunday, not only was their little restaurant was open, serving food, but also showing the local football game, Udine vs. Cagliari. I can think of nothing more Italian than prosciutto, spritz and football, all of which was delivered on a Sunday afternoon in Udine.||The room was alright, but I live in Asia, so my expectations are sky-high. Regardless though, if I pass through Udine again, wouldn't hesitate to stay at Hotel Allegria, for the total, combined experience...

Our top floor room was quiet enough but stuffy and hot because the windows were small. They were also low to the ground which we didn’t like. The bars across the opening were for our safety but created an ugly impression. I can’t think how reviewers could say the breakfast was good. The coffee was terrible. The buffet sems to be laid out the night before. Hence cold hard boiled eggs and strawberries looking less than fresh. There was only a choice of two cereals, both sugary, in little bags. The yoghurts were low quality. We ate lunch in the restaurant and there too it seemed we got cheap supermarket basics prepared with no flavoring. I can’t believe what we had to pay for a very ordinary experience.

Good location and nice exterior of historic building. Unfortunately the interior has had a disappointing contemporary makeover and our room was soulless with characterless built-in furniture.||We had a very stuffy room at the front of the hotel facing a noisy street. Reception control the a/c, but the Receptionist refused to turn it on for us, saying we "could open the window" instead. I explained that would mean we wouldn't be able to sleep because of the noise in the street. Receptionist replied that we "shouldn't stay in a city if we didn't want a noisy hotel room". Weirdest receptionist we have ever found, twisting all criticisms trying to say they were our fault. ||Breakfast very poor, cheap supermarket food, mouldy fruit under plastic from night before, bad coffee. We went to an excellent bakery with coffee down the road on the second morning. ||I asked for a receipt at checkout but when it didn't appear after 5 minutes I peered around the back and found the Receptionist was just sitting there staring at a blank computer screen to annoy me. A very strange and unsatisfactory experience.

Perfect location, excellent hospitality, spacious and very clean room.The only downside was a slight sewage smell in the bathroom when I first entered, but it disappeared afterwards.

Super clean and extraordinary friendly and attentive staffs. Easy to walk to city center. Food was good as well. I need to fly from Venice on 10:40 am. The driver would pick me up at 3:15 am. I was waiting in the lobby. The lady worked in the hotel asked me whether I wanted to have something like water or food. It warmed my heart when I was still sleepy.

The hotel is very nice. It is very close to the center of Udine and it has a private covered parking (for additional costs) My room (2nd floor) was big and very comfortable, I didn't hear any noise from the street The bathroom was excellent (I really enjoyed the shower). My room had enough space to store all my luggage and there was enough free space to walk around. I had quite a good internet connection, but the signal was much stronger in the hotel lobby. The breakfast is okay with a good variety of foods and drinks, but the place is quite small. There is a restaurant connected with this hotel and it looked very good, but I didn't try it (I was visiting friends so we went around). If you are going to Udine for work or pleasure I recommend this hotel.

The real estate includes a restaurant and a hotel. The building appears to be recently renovated mixing contemporary and old country elements and the outcome is a well-balanced, nice mix of styles. The whole place (including the restrooms) is remarkably clean. The food is simply delicious. Menus display an array of local and international dishes of pasta, soups, meat and fish. The quality and freshness of the raw ingredients are very high and the dishes are retailed accordingly. The staff is knowledgeable and they help clientele find the best wine matches. Service is quick. Utterly suggested.

Find something else. Very underwhelming rooms, poor breakfast, and extremely rude staff. Only good was location. Can’t recommend
