Aller Dorset

We both felt the draw of a break where your connection with nature and a sense of calm were restored amongst the beautifully decorated and carefully thought details of Aller huts. Despite being an extremely cold weekend, the huts were incredibly warm and cosy. The fresh bread and essentials were most welcome before searching out the wonderful ‘Oxford Bakery’ in a nearby village. Cat & Ant provided all the necessary information for us to have an enjoyable stay. I’d highly recommend the ‘Brace of Pheasants’ and further afield, ‘The Pig’ for your dining experiences. 100/10 We had the most wonderful few days at Aller - Cat and Ant were lovely and prompt to reply with any queries. We stayed in Littledown- a gorgeous shepherds hut by the lake with an outdoor bath and a fire pit. Everything was thought through and there were lovely little touches like homemade granola and fresh bread. We opted to do a fire pit supper with steak, lobster and delicious homemade salads on our last night. This was so special and the food was delicious. Cat has created a chic and comfortable nook that is perfect for a couple. The interiors are not only gorgeous but so well thought through. I have recommended Aller to all my friends and we can’t wait to come back soon to stay again and swim in the lake!

Where to start… Aller Dorset is pure magic. Every little detail has been so thoughtfully considered. The Shepherd’s Huts are cosy, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything you could possibly need. You can truly feel the care that has gone into creating such warmth and comfort. The surroundings are simply breathtaking—no noise, just a hundred shades of green embracing you from every angle. It’s the perfect escape, whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or simply craving a chance to disconnect from the busy world. And to top it all off, Cat & Ant are such wonderful hosts—warm, genuine, and a joy to deal with. 🫶

This was one of my best weekends ever!!! I went in February for the local Snowdrop Festival and stayed at Aller Dorset. The huts were so cute - my perfect decor!! The Saturday was cold and snowing/rainy so I had the most delicious day sitting and reading by the fireplace and looking out at the lake with ducks and even a pheasant pair roaming around. In the afternoon they delivered my dinner to cook outside on the fire and it was spectacular. Ant and Cat were wonderful hosts. I arrived very late on Friday night in a show storm and Ant came out and got me to the hut. Thank you so much!!

This was a beautiful place for our wedding anniversary. We loved sitting by the fire pit and having marshmallows in the welcome basket was a nice touch. The outdoor bath with fairy lights was magical and we really appreciated the quilted robes. Inside the decor in our ‘hut’ was stunning - with fabulous attention to detail from the mugs and plates to the toiletries. We had a wonderful stay.

We absolutely adored our stay at Zoulands! We stayed for two nights and it really was the perfect staycation. The shepherds hut itself was so beautifully designed with everything you would need for an enjoyable stay. We ordered the fire pit supper for our first night which we would highly recommend - it was so delicious! The addition of the welcome hamper was such a nice touch too, and we also opted for the breakfast hamper. All the local produce was amazing! The setting was absolutely gorgeous and we loved the view over the pond, as well as the rolling hills. The outdoor bathtub is fab and such a fun touch! We met with Cat during our stay who was fantastic and made our stay so special. Thank you, Cat, for such a wonderful and spoiling stay! 10/10 would recommend x

Aller Dorset exceeded our expectations; Cat and Ant really ticked every box here. We stayed in Zoulands which was perfectly presented. A private lake, absolute peace and quiet and stunning surroundings. If only we could have stayed longer….

We stayed at Aller Dorset at the end of the summer and caught the last of the good weather. We booked via Mr & Mrs Smith after being allured by the beautiful interior/ exterior design we saw in the photos. We were not disappointed- it very much lived up to our expectations. We stayed in Zoulands and actually thought the space felt bigger than we anticipated. The location is very rural and quiet/peaceful. Our advice would be to stock up on supplies before arriving as although local farm shops sell some essentials, the nearest supermarkets are a little while away. But this is part of its charm. The lodge was beautiful and the breakfast hamper / marshmallows was really appreciated. The outdoor bath is divine and kept really clean. The outdoor lighting is lovely in the evening. The fire pit was also great - we cooked a couple of dinners on it. It felt very private and was a good distance from other lodges and would only be overlooked when people were arriving/leaving their hut. We had a couple of queries and Ant & the team were very responsive and accommodating. We also met the cleaner who was really friendly. It was a very relaxing weekend, we would highly recommend and would love to return.
