Alluring Africa arranged our recent trip to Tanzania. It was so good, I don't know if I can put my gratitude and amazement into words. Without the planning and preparation that Susan Neva at Alluring Africa provided, I know it wouldn't have been as perfect as it was. From the moment we landed in Africa, I felt that we were so well taken care of. We walked out of Kilimanjaro Airport not knowing what to expect but in a crowd of drivers, ours immediately got to us and whisked us to Rivertree Inn. Our greeting there and their accommodating a late night dinner for us was wonderful. The rooms were roomy, comfortable, pretty and the perfect place to land after a long travel day. We woke to the fun of many monkeys scampering around outside of our room and it was so fun to go out and watch them before heading to a great buffet breakfast.
Shortly after breakfast our guide from Asilia Africa came for us. We were so happy from the moment we met him knowing that he would be with us the entire trip. He was so friendly, welcoming, caring and informative. He went out of his way to accomodate our needs, to continually check in with us about what worked best for us, was compassionate and helpful when some of us had queazy stomachs, made sure that every day we had the best experiences seeing so many animals and teaching us about animal life, Massai life and the life in general in Tanzania. In the end, he felt more like a friend and less like a guide.
The accommodations were all way beyond our expectations. The tent camps were so fun as we saw and heard animals all around our rooms both night and mornings. I couldn't believe the luxury even though I had heard the term glamping. Maramboi Tented Lodge was lovely, we had zebras and water bucks around us constantly, the food and dining were amazing, each meal and the staff were beyond friendly and helpful. Moving on to Gibbs Farm was mind blowing. The farmhouses there had such exquisite views, were palatial as my grand-daughter described it. It was such a fun place to have New Year's Eve. They had local bands and entertainment, hats, masks and confetti at dinner. Along with a beautiful dinner there were poppers with cool African souvenirs inside. The music and celebration after was so fun. Again, the staff were so helpful and friendly and the food was so wonderful that we did not want to leave to move on to our next stop. But Lake Masek was a great place to spend our last four nights. The tent camp was so amazing. Seeing the wild life so close, the beauty of the lake, our wildly beautiful "tent", the Masaii who guided us safely from tents to restaurant, the friendliness of the staff made our trip so special.
I had talked to Susan about a cake for my son-in-law's birthday dinner. But what I didn't expect was that the entire staff would come out with instruments and singing and would dance around the tables, pulling us into the lines with them for at least 15 minutes. It was so fun and he was beyond surprised and happy.
I wish I could describe the daily safaris which of course was the whole purpose of the trip. What I had hoped for was outdone by the actual astounding experience of seeing so many beautiful animals so close and in so many varied places and activities. From the migrating wildebeests, the beautiful variety of birds, the feasting cheetah, hyenas, vultures and jackals, the prides of lions, the mating baboons, giraffes and lions, the pools of hippos and bathing elephants, the herds of zebras, the unbelievable varieties of impala, dikdiks, gazelles, the feeding and playing giraffes, the lions, zebras, wildebeest, elephants and baboons who came within feet of our vehicle, and the many varieties of animals that we never new existed this was a life altering experience. I wish I could describe better the profound feelings, joy and awe we felt as we went through this astounding journey. It was the more than a dream come true. None of this would have happened so perfectly without the wonderful planning from Alluring Africa.
