Road out here is pretty rough. Do not recommend doing it in a sports car. We made it in a rental but took it slowly. Not super exciting but if you are driving by and have nothing else to do with a look. It is going to be a slow drive out there. Don’t be an idiot and walk inside the fenced off area please!

From the top car park its only a short walk. A much much longer walk from the other lay by area. Easy to misunderstand which one your going to look at due to the poor information. The stones themselves definitely need more information to tell the story behind it. The road up on small dirt bikes was excellent fun but cars need to take it steady.

We visited this site: the walk is quite long since it’s best to leave the car at a distance. The road to get there is in very poor condition, so you really need to drive slowly to avoid damaging the car. The archaeological site itself is nice – there’s nothing around it, but it’s still an interesting place to visit.

Loved it here. It was definitely worth the drive on the rough road to get here. Loved the energy. Such a cool space that many wouldn’t enjoy but big energy space and a lot of history.

Great piece of history! The drive is tricky though. You will need a decent car there are a lot of potholes! Worth the visit though!

Stones from 5,000 B.C. It's a climb up a very narrow bumpy road from the interpretive center, biking it was probably easier than driving. The stones are amazing and there are views across the plains all the way to Evora in the distance.

You can access to this mystic place by car , of course the road is not a good one but with cautious driving you will get there. I call it a Portuguese Stonehenge , I believe it is worth a visit . There’s free parking lot and lots of cork fields .

Incredible spiritual and magical place. The road there is pretty rough so if you have a low sitting car I would walk it. Very peaceful setting. I was completely alone there so enjoyed a 10 minute meditation amongst the stones. A very interesting slice of ancient history dating back over 7,000 years. I’m surprised the Ancient Aliens team or Graham Hancock hasn’t visited this place yet!

Yelp
Stonehenge of Portugal! Drive back into the country side, into wine country and into the cork tree forests, and you will find the Almendres Cromlech. A Cromlech is a circular arrangement of rocks from the megalithic period..Here, beautiful weathered ellipses of granite were turned long ways and planted in a curcular pattern on a hillside...for who knows why! This cromlech dates back to 6000 bc, and there are many carvings on the stones as well. The setting is free, open to the public, and so rustic and non-touristy...you will not find a throng of druids here. This is worth a see, a 30 minute stop to meander amid the ancient stones!
