Almijara Residence - Cómpeta

As the title says this was a perfect stay in Cómpeta. Maurice is a wonderful host and chef - he made a vegan breakfast for me on request, which was delicious. The B&B is right in the centre of town, just next to the main square. The location is perfect and provided a great base for my short stay in town. The communication before check-in was spot on, as was the check-in experience itself. Within 5 minutes for arriving in town I was greeted by Enca (who is lovely) and shown to my room. The room is small but had everything I needed. The bed was great and I slept soundly both nights. The room had a small Juliet balcony, not enough space to sit outside but great to have this open in the evening before heading out looking down at the vibrant terraces of the restaurants in the square. And with the balcony door shut the room was nicely soundproofed, giving the best of the both. Maurice cooked breakfast in the morning, which was served on the room terrace and he is such a friendly and helpful guy - a real wealth of local knowledge and genuinely wanted to share this and help his guests have the best experience. I would highly recommend Almijara Residence to anyone visiting Cómpeta.

Husband I spent 2 x nights in this beautiful hotel in June 25. Maurice is a true gentleman and could not have been more accommodating. Breakfast was amazing which was freshly prepared by the lovely Maurice. Hotel is set right overlooking the main square so very close to the Restaurants. Competa is a beautiful town and would highly recommend a stay in Competa and this beautiful hotel. Thanks again Maurice. Joanne and Michael x

Almijara Residence is small and personal. I was astounded by the level of attention to detail. The proprietor, Maurice, couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. It is clearly not just a business. The room was delightful with everything needed including a very comfortable bed and pillows and soft white bath sheets. The breakfasts were outstanding, set on a beautiful sun-terrace. Different each morning, they were delicious and freshly prepared with care and included fresh juices, excellent coffee and tempting dishes. Recommendations of where to visit in town included sites, restaurants and a lovely cocktail bar, and further afield with advice on travel arrangements. Cómpeta is a beautiful town, friendly, well-serviced, and a wonderful base to explore in itself and to explore from.

The Almijara Residence is a gem! The owners and hosts, Maurice and Paul, have created a chic and beautifully appointed place to stay, overlooking a pretty square in the heart of Cómpeta. Our room was delightful; light and airy, with a small balcony overlooking the square, and very comfortable bed. Sumptuous breakfasts were made for us every morning by Maurice and served on the roof terrace, which has beautiful views over the town and surrounding countryside. Without doubt an exceptional place to stay.

Full marks to Maurice and Paul at Almijara Residence in Cómpeta. They raise the game for other B&Bs in the area. The Residence itself is a beautifully refurbished town house and we recommended it to friends visiting the area They were delighted with the high standard and comfort of the accommodation and we were fortunate to join them for one of Maurice’s stand- out breakfasts. Highly recommended as a base to explore the beautiful Axarquia.

Great little B&B at the heart of Competa, with views of the square, the surrounding hills, and even the distant sea. Superb breakfast terrace. Compact room, very comfy bed, very well soundproofed. All hosted by the attentive and helpful Maurice.

What a stunning place! Super central and that roof top terrace is phenomenal! Maurice is a stunning host and services the best breakfast! Highly recommended
