Where to Stay in Tokyo When You Visit in 2025

"This fun, relaxed hostel in Shibuya offers mixed and female-only dorms with private cubby-like sleeping pods; each pod has a light, electrical outlet, hooks, and a shelf, which I found great for privacy on a budget." - Matthew Kepnes

I stayed here with a friend for a week or two, and it was great. The hostel offers the basic necessities: a bed, a locker, and a bathroom. Basically a big dorm. The cafe downstairs is a very comfortable and the food is great. After walking around Tokyo for a whole day, relaxing downstairs at the cafe just makes you sink away into your seat. Everything was reasonably priced, but I would recommend bringing your own slippers. Additionally, their cafe playlist is pretty fire, and they have different ones corresponding to different times of day! The owner is also a very chill and cool guy.

This is not a hostel, but a hotel. It lacks all the amenities a hostel should have: there is no common area to relax or eat, only an uncomfortable bar that is accessible only during its opening hours. On top of that, the café is completely disconnected from the rooms: it is located in another building around the corner and can only be accessed from the street, which is very inconvenient. The room I stayed in had 20 beds and only two showers for everyone, which is clearly insufficient. The only positive aspect is the staff, who were generally very kind and helpful. However, on the last day of my stay, I woke up to find a homeless person sleeping inside the room. Since it was early (7 AM) and the reception only opened at 8, the café staff refused to help us with the situation.

So so so affordable at around ¥50000 for a night. At the end of a good nightlife shopping street and right between two stations. One minute from 2 combini. Big 1m x 1m x ?25cm? Storage locker under each bed can fit most full size suitcases. Towels ¥200, shampoo soap and conditioner provides, seats and mirrors to shave and set your hair.

Traveled from the U.S. and stayed here three nights. Completely functional hostel with private bunk space. Overall, if you don’t mind a hostel experience and travel light this is a great place to stay! If you are new to hostels or want anything fancy, this may not be the place for you. The pros: - Clean - Friendly staff - Location - quiet and walkable neighborhood but right by a walkway that is close to a train station. About a 10 minute walk Yoyogi park. About a 30 minute walk to Shibuya crossing. - Mostly quiet (this depends on other guests of course) - Cafe on ground floor that is open early/late, plus they let you bring/eat other food The cons: - Bathroom and bedroom are a shared area. The bathroom is around a corner, but there is no door separating, so if your bunk is near the bathroom, or other guest are loud, it could be a noisy experience. - Storage & Space Optimization. This was our biggest issue while staying here. Each bunk has an assigned storage space, but they vary in size and location from your bunk. Some were underneath, some across, some in the main walkway. I would not recommend if you have any more than 1 small suitcase. We were across from others who had 2-3 suitcases and it made it hard to get into bed, let alone lay out our own suitcases when needed. - Lack of common space. The cafe on the ground floor is nice, but it was crowded (not sure if these were other hostel guests or not), and doesn’t have a ton of seating. Would not recommend if you want to spend significant time decompressing at your accommodations (aside from being alone in your bunk).

Pros: Good location, friendly staff, the cafe downstairs serves lovely food and coffee. The overall design of the hostel is nice, the dorm was clean, and smelled really nice in the sleeping area. Cons: Common space - No common area for hostel is a real letdown - difficult to socialize in the cafe as it's not clear who is a traveler and who is just trying to enjoy lunch. If the cafe is busy and you need to sit down to do some work, then you have to go to your windowless bunk - not ideal! Also a microwave/kettle/fridge would have been good. Dorms - Only 2 showers for the whole mixed dorm, not sure exactly how many beds, but easily at least 20 - not really enough. Access to sleeping pods is difficult - not for taller people. No full length mirror in dorm?? Towels had to be rented Overall a really nice place to stay for 1-2 nights, but wouldn't recommend for longer. I stayed for 10, really enjoyed the local area, but was glad to move to somewhere with better facilities.

Functional hostel, very clean, quiet and with a good cafe downstairs that serves really good coffee and a good selection of sandwiches, salads and toasts. All members of the staff were incredibly polite, friendly and helpful, with special mention to Reina who was wonderful.

The crew were very kind to help out and the bed was clean. My bed had a window but no coverage at all so it was a bit cold. Otherwise location is close to subway and was convenient :)

Pretty disappointing hostel. Rooms: kinda makeshift wood capsules, very loud echo and thin walls. Small pillows. You have to make up your bed yourself. No temperature control. It got really cold during the night. Unrestful sleep. A lot of black stains. Questionable if they ever wipe here. 2 showers only. Toilet doors designed by clowns since you basically can't enter and then close the door due to the lack of space (maybe next time make it swing the other direction) Ofc no Onsen for this price or bigger washrooms. Overall it's cheaper compared to other capsule hotels, however if you only spend a little bit more you get exponentially more in return. Restaurant: Coffee was ok, nothing to complain about. Food: Boring, blend and below average especially for Japan. I had dry chicken salad and even drier falafel with a pretty unimpressive dipping sauce. Service: They don't really care. For international standards it was mediocre, for Japanese standards they were rude and unhelpful. This place is designed for international, never returning travelers to maximise their profit. Will never come back, would recommend everyone to stay away since there are many other fantastic accommodations in Japan, but this is not one of them.
