Today with my colleagues we went to visit National Museum...we were only visitors except delegation of Diplomats who were visiting the museum as the president of Czech Republic will soon visit here too. The exposition is nice but only in French and Arabic, many artefacts about local culture and archeology. Just to mention there is fee entrance 50 MRU per person. Otherwise we like that we were only tourist here. Thank you

Two floors with exhibitions both on the history of the region dating back to the first human presence as well as one on more modern times, wildlife, culture and tradition.

Pretty cool museum showcasing the cultural history of Mauritania. Pay in cash only. Bathroom available. The exhibits were well-kept and interesting. You don't need a guide, although you might want one if you can't read Arabic or French as the written explanations rarely included English. It can get very hot inside as there is no air conditioning or fans. I was in and out in a comfortable 20-30 minute visit.

Nice building, but closed on the Saturday morning I visited; nobody around other than somebody watering the plants and somebody else painting a wall… The National Library (sharing the same building) also appeared deserted. - Maybe better try a week day…

This is a nice experience, especially the top floor. We didn’t take a guide and took about 20 minutes in total. Can easily fit into any schedule of a visit to Nouakchott.

Nothing in English. No history of Mauritania as a nation or discussion of ethnic groups. Has some pretty artifacts. Cost just 100 of local currency

Learned about how slavery is still common in Mauritania. Very sad.
