Where to Stay in Boston When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"I found Aloft to have an arty, funky vibe with pet-friendly policies, an on-site bar, a lounge with billiards, stylish rooms with plenty of natural light, comfy beds and a coffee/tea maker, plus a fitness center, indoor pool, and two restaurants." - Matthew Kepnes

My husband and I enjoyed our room overall. We didn't smell our see any mold as other reviews did. The bed was comfortable. The window blinds do a good job of blocking the light so we could sleep. The location was perfect for us. Unfortunately, the air conditioning is quite loud as others say. It's also programmed to turn on once it gets really hot, so the room gets super hot, then super cold, back and forth and we found it very difficult to sleep. Another problem is that when we checked in for our one night, we were told that we had a $15 voucher for the bar or for breakfast to help with the cost of the $25 destination fee. Unfortunately, that was a lie. I planned to use my voucher for breakfast, but it turns out that it must be used that same day. It does say this in small print at the bottom of the voucher, but we were specifically told we could use it for breakfast, so I didn't realize I needed to read all the small print. I waited a while at the front desk check-in line to order my breakfast and then was told I had to use it the day before (breakfast ends at 11am and check in is at 3pm so that honestly doesn't make sense). I was really disappointed. Why would they even create that policy? I looked it up- it's not a Boston tax- it's totally the hotel. While we're at it, the soap was empty in the shower, the shower drain was stopped up so we showered in a pool, there are no signs for the ice machine, which is only on the third floor, and the latte machine only gave out hot milk (no espresso). If it wasn't for the lie when I checked in, I would have overlooked all these things. I don't even mind the $25 destination fee since I already knew about it. It was the lie and the disappointment. Id rather them just charge the $25 with no perks than to promise something and then be disappointed.

This hotel is a comfortable place to stay. Tucked in at the seaport. A nice park directly across a 2 lane street. What makes this place standout, as soon as I walked in I was warmly greeted by Ernesto. He immediately assisted us getting registered to our rooms and also quickly took care of my special request without hesitation. Its employees like Ernesto that make staying here a wonderful experience. |Great job, Aloft Seaport for choosing Ernesto!

Great location! Within walking distance to a lot of restaurants/sightseeing! DJ was extremely helpful during my check in process and reminding me to utilize my 15 dollar credit. My only critique was that sometimes my room key took a few tries to work but otherwise solid hotel for a short stay. If you are a person who likes white noice I personally found the ac to be peaceful during my stay not overwhelmingly loud as other reviews have mentioned.

Wow we are glad we stayed here! Location: basically a $10-$13 car ride/lyft/uber from many, “touristy” things (i.e aquarium, Quincy, museums, duck tours). Highly recommend the Museum of Illusions. You can also walk many places in 15 minutes. Rooms: great with very smart layouts to maximize living quarters and bathrooms. Service: Awesome! I include the lobby in this which is filled with a billiards table, shuffle board and foosball table, bar, quick shop, lounge. The staff is VERY friendly and accommodating. There is a woman named Chantá who works there and is so incredible. I would come back to this one hotel just to hope to catch up with her…seriously she’s that charismatic.

Fraudulent Charges and Zero Accountability from Marriott! I stayed at the Marriott seaport in Boston over the weekend with my family and booked three rooms. The hotel itself was just okay — nothing special, but the location was fine. However, what happened with the billing was beyond ridiculous and completely unacceptable. The front desk charged my credit card TWICE for every single room. On top of that, one of my family members who arrived before me left his card for what was supposed to be just a “security deposit,” and they went ahead and charged him the entire amount of the stay! How is that even possible at a hotel that’s supposed to be reputable? When I called to fix this, I was told someone would “get back to me in 3–5 business days.” Seriously? You charge my card multiple times without permission and then make me wait up to a week just to hear from someone? That’s absurd. To make matters worse, I was advised to call my credit card company to dispute the charges or to call the hotel directly to see if I can make this go faster — which tells me even the staff knows how bad the system is! This is not just bad service — this is borderline fraud. I can’t believe a major brand like Marriott operates this way. No one has taken responsibility, no one has helped resolve it quickly, and I’m still out a huge amount of money because of their mistake. Be warned: if you stay here, watch your credit card closely, because they clearly can’t handle basic billing properly and don’t care enough to fix it fast! And What they call a “security deposit” might just turn into a full unauthorized charge.

This hotel was very lovely, staff is wonderful and EJ at the front desk was a great help to us during our stay. The room was very clean and we had almost everything we needed. One thing to mention would be that the pool temperature was teetering on ice bath temp and it was too cold for us to enjoy for more than a minute. It was unfortunate because we always look for a pool or hottub during our vacations. The pool room air temp was shockingly chilly as well.

I had a personal issue during my stay, and EJ and Shanty went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Even with the hotel completely full, they handled everything with care, professionalism, and genuine kindness. Their customer service was truly exceptional I’m so grateful for their help and can’t thank them enough for turning a stressful situation into a positive experience.

Staff were nice as was the view from the room. Unfortunately the rooms are not up to scratch. The AC units are individual to each room and are located within the room, meaning the compressor and fan makes a huge amount of noise (too much to have it on while sleeping). The room was poorly ventilated and there was some mould. As others have said, the mattress was too soft, felt like just cheap foam. Looked like corners had been cut at every opportunity. Disappointed to have stayed here, especially compared to other Aloft hotels I've stayed in which have been generally very good.
