Picked this spot because of the Aloft brand and the proximity to the French Quarter (and the rate was good during a holiday as well).
Property is Aloft branded throughout. Building is set up oddly, with 1 bank of 'vators going to a parking garage, and the other bank taking you to the rooms above the garage, so you need to pay attention to where you're going.
Pluses: Location. Staff overall was very kind, attentive, and welcoming from the front desk to the bar. Housekeeping generally did a good job taking care of the room. Water pressure/temp in shower was pretty good. Property in the main areas looked well-maintained (my room...meh). Housekeeping seems to be daily, and they do leave a note on your door if your DND is hanging so you know they were there.
Negatives: Whomever designed the room I was in needs to go back to design school, along with a refresher on electrical setup. Didn't mind the oddly shaped room, except for all the dead space in it. Lighting was next to NONEXISTENT in the main area of the room (like sleeping in a cave), and pretty decent in the bathroom area...except for the light switch on the other side of the room entry next to the door. (Good luck finding the toilet in the middle of the night!) Outlets were not in easy-to-use places, and in-room fridge needed to be replaced (and I think plugged into an outlet that worked) as well.
Housekeeping overlooked the half-consumed bottle of courtesy water in my room, and never gave me a replacement (Front Desk dude took care of me, but I still had to ask)
Property does an odd pre-charge/reversal then partial charge for the stay, which looked weird on the bill and I actually sat and added it up to make sure it was correct from what I booked.
TL;DR: Worth booking if you like the Aloft brand and want a reasonably priced property near Canal St. and the FQ.
