After a 20-year absence, we returned to New York and chose a central location to stay, which proved to be a fantastic decision. * Genesis, the front desk host, was remarkable; she thoroughly explained the breakfast offerings and how to navigate the self-serve area. She maintained a constant smile, readily answered our inquiries, and actively fulfilled our needs throughout our visit. *Kelvin, the bartender, was personable, attentive, and skilled at crafting exceptional drinks, which particularly delighted my wife—a key aspect for me. His attentiveness extended to all patrons; during several evenings spent at a nearby table attending to personal office work, I had the opportunity to watch Kelvin in action. It's individuals like Kelvin who are often unsung heroes. As a business owner in Texas, I can only wish for someone who takes care of my business with the same dedication, keeping everyone engaged and ensuring a memorable experience. Based on my observations over several days, not just my interactions, Kelvin undoubtedly deserves a raise he is bringing it in for sure. * The rooms were compact and a bit cramped, offering limited storage for belongings, even for two people and got another room for my 3 girls. However, with a bit of ingenuity, it was manageable. The room was not only clean but also had a very pleasant scent, a rarity as most hotel rooms, while clean, lack a fresh smell. This one was truly clean and refreshing. *The hotel is not huge making it perfect for those who prefer a quick in and out without being in the hustle and bustle in the lobby. The building is quite new, ensuring that all rooms are nicely appointed and modern. *The housekeeping staff is hardworking, active throughout the day, and their dedication is noteworthy. However, the noise they create has made it difficult for us to rest. We woke up early at 6 AM to make the most of our day, planning to return by 5 PM due to the early nightfall. Yet, the staff's conversations, laughter, and the constant slamming of doors as they moved from room to room were quite disruptive. The use of doorstops could help prevent the doors from slamming during cleaning. While their enjoyment of their work is understandable, we had hoped for greater consideration for guests in need of rest. As a result, we were unable to rest before our evening plans and chose to stay in for the night. Wall aren't that thick so do be mindful of the neighbors. your love life doesn't have to be showcases by how loud your wife is.

Avoid it unless absolutely necessary. When I arrived, there was a sticky spot on the floor that raised concerns about cleanliness, but at 2 a.m. with an early meeting ahead, it was the least of my worries. It was still there when I checked out. The sheets were improperly arranged, leaving the mattress exposed at the foot of the bed. Service was virtually nonexistent. The host was brusque, and while I wanted to get to my room, I’ve experienced far better service in this city from more affordable places. In fact, I paid more per night here than ever before, seeking proximity to my meeting—definitely the wrong choice. Throughout my stay, I didn’t hear a single person in the building, which made it feel awkward. Check-out was quick and impersonal, with no friendly farewell. The room was small, making it difficult to unpack or get ready in the mornings. The furniture felt very much like a college dorm and was extremely uncomfortable for working. Don’t bother trying to work from downstairs; it’s just as bad. They’re not starting out right for a “new” hotel - they rebranded and remodeled earlier this year.

Pros: Hotel is clean, rooms are clean, staff is kind, location is ideal for easily walking to all of the fun activities. Transit is easy to access once you learn how to use it and it’s way cheaper than uber. Cons: For 3k for two rooms, they are TINY! They are not functional by any means. Walls are PAPER THIN. I do not care to have to hear my neighbors having sex. I had to bang on the wall and tell her to shut the you know what up. It’s repulsive and disgusting. When I am in the toilet room I hear the other neighbors TV clear as day and I could even hear it while waiting in at the elevator. The cleaning staff has zero regard for guests while they are cleaning surrounding rooms. They were talking incredibly loud, laughing loud and slamming the door on the metal lock every time they went in and out of the room. My nap was terribly interrupted. Final review: I would not stay here ever again. The rooms are too tiny for the price and I’d prefer to not hear my neighbors every single move. I probably would never visit NY again merely bc it’s overpriced, crowded and just overall a waste of trip for me. There is beauty in it but not enough for me to return. If you don’t mind all the issues listed in the cons then this is the hotel for you.

Stayed here from the Friday after Thanksgiving til the following Monday (yesterday). I absolutely loved it. The front desk staff was amazing and made everything super easy (I had to add a night to my stay). While they don’t advertise it much, they do have an onsite bar/lounge, which I regrettably didn’t realize until my second night. Bartender Kelvin is flipping awesome. The location was perfect for my stay, Broadway and comedy clubs within easy walking distance and super close to Penn Station. I look forward to staying there again next time I get to visit NYC.

The most comfortable bed I've ever slept in at a hotel. The room size was perfect, especially considering it's in Manhattan and everything is tiny. Yet if you want peace and quiet, that won't happen until around 3am when outside has calmed down. Its a busy area. The room was clean. My only complaint is the heat doesn't go up high enough for my liking (75⁰ max) so I was cold in the bed. The bathroom lighting could be a bit brighter. The auto-open curtains were nice. I would book again

The Bad: •    Walls very thin; could hear everything, in hallways and other rooms including music, conversations and even people being intimate •    Scents coming through vents into the room •    Fire alarm test via loudspeaker into rooms at 10:00 AM when some people would still be sleeping •    No room service available •    No door on the bathroom •    Some corners need dusting The Good: •    One of the front desk managers was friendly- (Stephanie), cleaning and maintenance staff pleasant. Front desk personnel seem over it •    Centrally located •    Sheets and towels changed daily One of the strangest experiences I’ve had at a hotel. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I would not recommend staying here.

Hotel was great. Very clean and staff was attentive. Kelvin was great as a bartender. The drinks were awesome and the vibes were immaculate. If you stay by The A Loft, make sure you stop by . You won’t be disappointed.

Booked this property for a vacay in NYC, and had a reasonably decent experience. Room was smaller than I expected, and it is not a room I'd want to share w/ more than 1 person. There is no desk, minimal storage, and the design basically assumes you're there to sleep because you're not going to be in the room other than that. The shower pressure and water temp were EXCELLENT. My room (21st floor) DID NOT have any type of soundproofing; I could hear everything going on in the room on the other side of the wrap-around hall, mainly because they didn't have an inside voice when talking. Property is VERY FIRM that check-in is 4pm; they're happy to hold your bags, but you'd be extremely lucky to get checked in earlier than that. Overall hotel staff was very friendly to me. There is a lounge-type area, which when I was there on a Fri afternoon was packed with loud "business" types working, so don't plan on lounging around there during the day. There is a bar, but I don't know when it's open or if it's "good". There is no room service and minimal amount of food/beverages. I've stayed at other Aloft's that had more space/comfort, so I'd recommend this hotel if you need to primarily sleep so you can go out in frolic around NYC; it's minimalist at most.
