9 Best Hotels in Osaka, Japan, to Rest and Recharge | Condé Nast Traveler

"For a vibrant city escape that perfectly captures Osaka's dynamic energy, this contemporary hotel offers a playful blend of modern design and local charm in the bustling Dojima district. It's a comfortable base for urban explorers, business travelers, and culture seekers wanting to dive into Japan's culinary capital. The lobby exudes street-art energy—a vintage three-wheeled truck wrapped in graffiti-style graphics anchors the space, while colorful digital projections dance across the ceiling and a skateboard installation adorns one wall, creating an atmosphere that feels distinctly Osaka: playful, creative, and unapologetically bold. Guests range from lanyard-wearing Marriott Bonvoy point collectors in business attire to millennials sporting shark motif Sprayground backpacks. Step inside one of the 305 guest rooms, however, and the energy shifts to something surprisingly serene. Despite the lobby's exuberant personality, guest rooms embrace a calmer palette with crisp white walls, loft-style layouts, and thoughtful design touches." - Melinda Joe

Aloft Osaka Dojima (Osaka, Osaka Prefecture) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The more minimal a hotel concept, the more it relies on its location — and Aloft Osaka Dojima benefits from a setting where just about anything under the sun is available: a riverside plot in the city’s busy Umeda district. Inside, it’s as vibrant and modern as any boutique hotel anywhere, and while the rooms and suites stop short of luxury-hotel extravagance, they’re as comfortable as they are stylish. Public spaces include an all-day international restaurant, a grab-and-go café, and a bar and lounge with dinner service — many more lie within a short walk from the hotel." - Tablet Hotels

Overall, a comfortable stay with very friendly staff and modern rooms, but plumbing issues and the bed layout may be inconvenient for some guests. Highlights: - Super friendly and helpful staff — they kindly allowed us early check-in. - Toiletries provided in the room, not via a lobby amenities bar. Free bottled water is also supplied in each room. - Clean, spacious, and modern rooms with USB charging right next to the beds. - Fully sheltered underground walk (10–15 minutes) from Osaka train station via tunnel/mall — just follow the signs toward the Yotsubashi Subway Line, then towards Dotica (underground mall) and look for Exit C93. - Hotel comes with a well-equipped gym with is quite rare with hotels in Japan. Things to note: - Rooms could be brighter, and the queen beds are placed against a wall, which makes it tricky for the person sleeping closer to the wall to get in and out. - The toilet had a bidet but no warm seat. - Water pressure issues: the toilet flush is weak, the hot tap in the basin is almost a trickle, and flushing or using the shower affects water availability elsewhere in the room. - Soundproofing is quite poor, especially against the traffic sounds. You can quite often hear loud cars / bikes zooming past late at night.

Location was good, but the room was very minimalist,i.e. no storage, and the bed was positioned against the wall making it a challenge to get in and out of one side of the bed. More like a Moxie than an Aloft. The room was clean and had reasonable amenities. The breakfasts were quiet good. The staff were helpful but seemed new and confused by questions. We received different answers depending on who we talked to. We ate in the restaurant one evening. The food was okay, but I ordered a martini to drink. They brought the drink with a beat up olive on the side not in the drink. When I requested an additonal olive I was told NO, only one olive per drink. Really!! Talk about cheap and low standards from the bar staff.

We stayed at the Aloft Osaka for several days. The hotel and staff are GREAT. The entire staff is friendly, very helpful, and patient. The rooms are VERY clean stocked with the basic amenities, including a large flat-screen T.V. (only English channel is CNN, but Youtube TV is available) The hotel is located within a 10 minute walk to the Osaka train station and a 10 -15 minute taxi ride to the Shin-Osaka station where the for the bullet train arrives and departs. Also, great shopping and excellent restaurants are within walking distance. A convenient store and McDonalds are across the street if you need a quick snack. Great breakfast buffet offering a variety of choices, including an omelet bar. If ever in Osaka again, we will definitely stay here.

Stayed here with my daughter. Thoroughly enjoyed! Staff super pleasant and accommodating. Room bright, spacious, modern, floorboards! Train metres away and short ride to Dotonbori. Gym and laundromat so handy. Groovey vibe on ground floor with music & dj some nights. Highly recommend.

Google
Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable rooms without unnecessary luxury, and a great location make Aloft Osaka a solid choice. The room was very clean, the shower was excellent, and everything felt well maintained. Overall, it’s a super convenient hotel that delivers exactly what you need for a comfortable stay.

Honestly, this stay was not worth the money. The shower walls had visible hairs, which means the bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly before we arrived, that was really unpleasant and unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. Even worse, we didn’t request room cleaning, most hotels in Japan still leave fresh towels and water, nothing was replaced. I had to call the front desk just to get basic items. The location is good, but the cleanliness and service quality need serious improvement.

My second stay here, everything is consistenly great, even the restaurant still has the same issue (slow coffee machine). You can find my previous reviews here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g298566-d23573162-r939951695-Aloft_Osaka_Dojima-Osaka_Osaka_Prefecture_Kinki.html ||For now, I only review the suite room which I think it's a great highlight:||The size of the suite is massive for a Japanese hotel. Basically it's double the size of standard room, except half is occupied by the guest toilet and living space. The living space is my favorite area, great layout overall and does not feel cramped at all. The giant Marshall speaker is a nice addition if you have guest coming or just chill out. The bathroom is spacious and complete with a bathtub, although I prefer it could be separated somehow because it's also occupied the shower room. ||Bedroom area has similar size to the standard room, but slightly different furnishings. The light switch can be a bit confusing and took me a while to adjust. The floor-to-ceiling window is nice but it can be a double-edge sword especially during hot summer or cold winter. ||Service from the associates are great as always. However, please upgrade your coffee machine at the restaurant, it's slow and the new location cause more congestion in my opinion.

Google
Modern hotel with all amenities, stylish & sleek atmosphere. Friendly staff. Location is great: Just 20 m to the left from main entrance there are stairs to the underground of Osaka Umeda station. You can walk underground to Osaka station without being exposed to weather and traffic (takes about 7 - 10 min); great when you arrive by train and want to avoid an extra taxi ride. Why only 4 stars: The breakfast is a bit poor and IMHO inappropriate to Marriott standards. Selection of Japanese dishes is quite limited. European bakery items are of low quality. Of the 7 hotels in which we stayed during our Japan trip, this was the lowest ranking breakfast.

Yelp
Nice place to stay while in Osaka. Reasonable rate, clean, friendly, comes with 2 bottles of complimentary water each day (about ¥240). Also 20% off at the restaurant and two drink voucher. Its at the edge of Umeda train station. To the left of the building, you can go underground shopping (Dojima Chika center DOTICA) that extends all the way to main train terminal. So many restaurant and shops at DOTICA. Got the two free drinks (menu provided), got 20% off at the breakfast buffet (about ¥3,000) and I highly recommend. If you do not eat much, I suggest getting a plate of rice with nade to order japanese style omelet and side of curry. Put the omelet on top of the rice and split open. Runny yolk will be awesome on top. They also have fried rice as an option to steamed rice. 5 stars for location, service, cleanness and value.

Yelp
First Marriott branded hotel in Osaka that I was able to book. The hotel is located on a main street and .3 miles from the JR rail - Osaka Station. You can take a taxi to Osaka Station for 500 yen, that is how close it is. I booked a two twin bed room and in the USA, they won't ask how many people but here in Osaka, if you booked for 1 guest and bring two - They will charge you additional for the extra person. There are 2 laundry machines in the entire hotel and you need to reserve a 2.5 hour slot (which books up fast) The cost for each machine is 500 yen which includes wash and dry. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here at Aloft as this hotel is so close to all the food and trains. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Location near Osaka Station and Herbis Osaka Airport Limousine Bus Terminal with 10-15min walk. Staff welcomed us in upon arrival and very helpful with ease at check-in stayed 3 nights. Nice cool and hip atmosphere with XYZ bar and lounge are to sit and relax. Rooms very nice and comfortable bed I could probably sleep in longer. Very Clean! Laundry room available make sure to stop at the front desk for reservations only 2 washers/dryer combo no detergent needed our load took 2hrs and did not dry all the way. Fitness room nice and clean. Accommodations excellent! Did not have a chance to dine at the restaurant but they do have specials. Certainly recommend! will return again soon.

Yelp
WARNING - (1) rooms are HOT due to a thermostat pre-set that does not go lower than 20° (68°F) and because rooms are small (+ shower steam), the room gets hot easily - over 75° which would usually not be an issue at home since I can open a window. Had to prop my door open the entire stay and I am usually not hot. Had multiple hotel people come by to tell me to close the door. (2) Don't bother with XYZ bar - short pours (for wine, Prosecco) and they need to teach their staff how to make drinks or read a book and follow instructions (3) breakfast coffee machine (Jura) needs more people to maintain- add milk, dump rinds, etc and need at least one more; perhaps just add a drop coffee station. Takes quite a long time in line to get a coffee. (4) Hotel agreed to make me a dinner reservation at a recommended restaurant (in the book of recommendations); I went to the restaurant and they had a private party but agreed to take us. Paid $100 USD for two quantity 10-piece Omakase + drink. Rushed out. Hotel never messaged me (vie messager or hotel voicemail to let me let me know the reservation could not be made.) I am a platinum Bonvoy and will stay somewhere else next time.

Yelp
Stayed here for 5 night in April 2023. I've stayed in many hotels in other countries and sometimes do higher end, but after reading the Google reviews for this place, it seemed better rated than even the higher priced hotels. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were cleaned everyday (not so common after COVID times) and we were always asked if we needed anything else. Recommend the croissants for breakfast. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay, and it was in a great location

Yelp
Aloft, affiliated with Marriott, is an American hotel chain. Having visited several Aloft locations in Japan and in America. I notice they all have their own uniqueness. I happen to visit since I had extended family stay here. Its modern style aligns with my taste, and I appreciated the inclusion of Japanese art in the lobby. Complimentary items added a nice touch, and the room featured two large beds along with a sofa and coffee table. In contrast to smaller Japanese hotel rooms that charge per person, this was a notable difference. If you're a solo traveler seeking more space, this hotel brand is excellent in Japan. Overall, I would consider visiting again.
