The Best Glamping Near National Parks - AFAR

"A remote Alaskan glamping outfit whose small canvas tents (about 12-by-14 feet) sleep up to three and sit on covered porches overlooking the Matanuska Glacier and valley. Tents are intentionally rustic—without electricity—but a shared common space provides charging; the season runs from Memorial Day weekend to early September, guests are provided extra blankets, and bathing consists of a bucket-and-sponge rinse plus access to a cedar hot tub with mountain views." - Brooke Vaughan

Amazing experience start to finish! Colleen is very welcoming & immediately gave us a tour even though we arrived 30 mins before check in. The beds are super cozy & the blankets are warm enough to keep you hot on a cold night. Bathrooms and showers are well maintained (I love outdoor showers!), and the hot tub has a lovely view of the mountains. We didn’t wake up on time for breakfast but I’m sure it was lovely! We played cornhole & ate some yummy s’mores. To top it off, our tent had an amazing view of the glacier. Would definitely come back!!

We absolutely loved our stay here! This is such a unique experience. Very beautiful property, the hot tub is great, the tents are made cosy with sufficient warm blankets. The common area is really nice, very scenic views and the hot breakfast in the morning is just fantastic! The staff is so friendly and welcoming! Really loved our time here! Highly recommend!

Everything was incredible! From the service and wonderful hosts, Colleen and Lane, to the magical natural beauty everywhere, the cozy beds, the common area with made to order breakfast (and the keg for later!), to the close proximity to Mica Guides if you want to venture out to the glacier, it is just too much to describe in a lil’ paragraph. Don and Mandy have done such beautiful work curating these two businesses and it does not disappoint on any level! So peaceful I could have stayed for the rest of my summer. Just magnifico! 👌🏼

Stayed here for 1 night as a part of 2 week trip to Alaska (combo road trip and cruise). I had never done glamping or luxury camping before. Everything was just as described. The views were amazing! It was very cold at night with no alternative heat source but the blankets/quilts provided were perfect. The communal breakfast in the morning was very cozy and well organized. Very nice touches and details throughout the grounds. We did ice trekking just prior the check in so this made for quite a memorable almost 24hour stay in Glacier View.

The most BEAUTIFUL place I have stayed at. The views are out of this world! The rooms are cosy and perfect for looking out at the views. Lovely touches such as the use of hot tub, fire pit, games, hot/ cold drinks… the best part for us drinkers was a complementary beer upon arrival plus access to draft beer and a honesty box to ‘pay as you feel’. Breakfast was spot on, staff lovely and overall would highly recommend this little piece of heaven nestled in Alaska.

Staying at Alpenglow was an unforgettable experience. The hosts, Colleen and Lane, are the most down to earth and awesome people, keeping the place organized, clean, beautiful, and even cooking breakfast-to-order each morning. The owners of both the Alpenglow and Mica Guides businesses, Don and Mandy, make regular appearances, visiting with guests, offering insights on the region and answers to any questions, and share a beer with any who choose to grab one from the keg! It’s such a warm, friendly atmosphere and a magically beautiful place. We stayed two nights but I think I would have been happy to stay a week! Or even more. Sidenote: Our nephew, Quinn, had been guiding on Matanuska Glacier (for Mica Guides) the past 3 summers. Our chance to stay at Alpenglow and go on a glacier tour with Quinn was one of our highlights of our incredible trip to Alaska. Though we met lovely people everywhere we went, and the beautiful scenery never ceased regardless of location, this is a highly recommended stop on your Alaska journey!

The view was absolutely breathtaking and was the best to wake up to in the morning! We met one of the workers and she was so fun to talk to and really gave us a detailed rundown of the place! I was shocked by how cozy the tents were and had no trouble staying warm overnight! Overall, Alpenglow Luxury Camping was definitely a memorable, for all the right reasons, place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Staying at the luxury glamping tent was absolutely surreal. We could see the glacier while snuggled up in the cozy bed. Seriously the bed was one of the fluffiest beds I’ve ever stayed in, and it was in a tent! I was surprised at how clean and nice the bathrooms and showers were, and we reserved the hot tub for the perfect post-climb soak. The pavilion has Alaska beer on tap and delicious, free, hot breakfast that’s made to order. This is probably the coolest lodging I’ve ever had in Alaska!

Yelp
What a fun little local getaway! Mandy is a joy to work with too! Upon arrival, Mandy met us to welcome us to the location and give us a brief, but thorough tour of the grounds. All spaces were clean and easy to get to. We stayed in one of the Forrest Tents that is a short walk away, but still felt completely isolated from other tents. Breakfast is served (with French press coffee) every morning and it's DELICIOUS! Freshly made breakfast casserole and homemade granola with yogurt! There's a sign up sheet for the hot tub. The hot tub is great for relaxing with a great view. The showers are HOT HOT HOT! There's an outhouse - flushing toilets a short walk away too.

Yelp
What a fantastic Alaskan experience! We were looking for something outside of the normal cabin/hotel (which we also did) and this gem of a place fit the bill. We reserved a Glacier View tent, and that's what we got. The tent was clean and well organized, with a comfortable bed and warm blankets. We were there in late July, and the weather was not too cold, so we left the flap open and slept with just the screen. Waking up in the night and looking out over the glacier was like magic. The restrooms and showers were clean and convenient, and as with everything else, well laid out. The common area had great and scenic seating areas with a nice fire pit and cornhole game. They had board games if you want, plenty of snacks in the kitchen on the honor system, and two taps with good local beers for a relaxing evening. The common area is also the location for a fantastic breakfast cooked fresh. Great way to start the day! The staff and owners were awesome - a shoutout to Colleen, Lizzie, Audrey, and Mandy, but they weren't the only ones. We were in Alaska, so the mother moose and her calf calmly grazing near the restroom shouldn't have been a (pleasant) surprise. If I could give this fine little place six stars, I would. Since I can't, five will have to do. If you're looking for a pleasant and memorable experience, I couldn't give Alpenglow a higher recommendation.

Yelp
What a way to end our Alaska trip! First was a glacier dinner cruise out of Seward. Then Halibut fishing inHomer. Next a couple days of sockeye fishing in Soldotna. After taking in Hope we ventured North to Mantanuska Glacier. After crisscrossing the Kenai Peninsula we were beat and Alpenglow was just what the doctor ordered!! We hiked the glacier in the afternoon and then settled into our accommodations. First thing you'll notice about Alpenglow is the AMAZING, unrivaled view!! By far the best view of anywhere we stayed the entire trip!! From our private deck we had a view of the entire valley including the glacier and the mountains from where it originates. After an afternoon of hiking the glacier we jumped in the hot tub to revive our muscles. We then ventured a few miles down the road for dinner and some homemade pies. When we got back we started our cornhole tournament and enjoyed some time by the fire pit taking in the sunsetting on the snow capped mountain range. When it got dark, about midnight when we were there, we retired to our luxury tents. Sleeping under those nice warm blankets with a chill in the are was great! And I have to give a special thanks to Mandy! She has put together the PERFECT, relaxing experience for ending our Alaska trip! After a week traipsing across Alaska we were thankful to spend our last day and night at Alpenglow!! Thanks again Mandy for the perfect ending!!!

Yelp
Luxury camping is an understatement. This place was amazing!! The tents sleep three comfortably and the beds are comfy. You wake up to beautiful views of the glacier right off your front porch. There is a wood burning hot tub to soak in after a long day of adventures is picture perfect.
