the location was good and the room was fine but the bed that they claim is a queen is not. It’s five inches shorter in length. And the shower head is super low even for average folks. So avoid if you or your partner are taller than 6ft.

Google
Great location. Spacious and comfortable room. Convenient parking. A nice bonus was the helpful information provided about local bars, restaurants, and more. The first young man at reception was excellent and extremely helpful. The second acted as if every question was one too many. With the season still ahead, that’s definitely something to work on.

Google
A quaint old-time village atmosphere close to the Village Gondola and a few shops and restaurants. Plenty of parking with attached bar. Only downsides were a very small jacuzzi/hot tub and lack of full service restaurant (the Cellar bar does serve some food, but the former restaurant, now closed, was WAY overpriced, so...).

Google
Definitely a great deal when you look at location / price. Located next to Mammoth village as well as the Gondola to Canyon Lodge, this hotel is a perfect spot for skiers. It’s definitely old fashion and might need a refresh of some of its amenities (sauna and jacuzzi), but overall I think this is definitely a great deal if you do expect to spend more time in the mountain rather in your room.

We booked a queen room, #428, which is behind the row of rooms facing the front/parking lot. It was upstairs (no elevators) with a nice view of trees and was quiet. It is definitely an older place, but it was well-maintained and furnished with all you need, albeit spartan. Our room was indeed very small, but that was our booking choice. Very clean, a fair cost, great front office service, gave fantastic tourist advice! The location was perfect. The bed could possibly be the most uncomfortable one I've ever slept in and the pillows were hard and flat. The TV is small and mounted awkwardly for viewing. It would have been nice to have a microwave oven as restaurant prices are very high. The hamburger place door was really good and affordable! The adjoining German restaurant is now closed. The bar/spa (strange combo) does serve food. With this said I would come here again and felt they carried out what they advertised well.

Google
They charge you a fee even if you cancel more than 3 months out - so just wanted to warn others! As obviously that doesn’t happen with other hotels and air bnbs, so I didn’t realize it. Not a huge deal but worthy of sharing with other people, so they know.

Renee

Google
Positive: The location Negative: The proximity of my room to the bar next door or down stairs, could hear the music all night and in the morning could hear the trash trucks.

Google
Cannot recommend this place enough, the staff is 10/10 from Matt, Adam, and many others they not only accommodate but go above and beyond to ensure your stay is pleasant. Thank you!

Yelp
Last minute booking but was not disappointed, actually pleasantly surprised. First off the location is amazing! The rooms were clean, very happy with the amenities offered. Little surprises at the front desk every morning. Stickers, ice scraper, snacks, friendly staff. 2 restaurants/bars connected, you don't even have to go outside. Hot tub and sauna downstairs. Pool was closed because of the temps, but there is a pool. Tons of parking. Highly recommend for the price you cannot do any better. I will definitely be staying here again.

Yelp
We frequent the Alenhof several times a year as we fish the upper Owens River. We do miss the complementory breakfast that was pre covid but we just love this establishment. Today we were half way home from our trip and realized I'd forgotten my favorite hat and we called and spoke to a very polite gentleman. He without hesitation got our information retrieved my hat and is sending to our home today. Of course we're paying for postage but we are very thankful for their interest in finding my hat. I know this seems like a minor thing but it's a hat from military service during my youth. "Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club". Thank you Alpenhof and see you in a couple of months. Yelp
My experience with Alpenhof Lodge left much to be desired due to their unclear policies and lackluster customer service. While the lodge might look charming at first glance, prospective guests should be wary of its hidden "gotchas." One of the most frustrating aspects of my experience was discovering the lodge's strict no-pet policy--but only after digging through the fine print in the terms and conditions, and being notified in an email AFTER I had purchased a reservation. Nowhere on the front page or side pages is this important information clearly disclosed. For pet owners, this omission feels deceptive and like a deliberate attempt to bury an inconvenient policy. When I reached out to cancel my booking after discovering the no-pet policy, the host refused to refund the $25 cancellation fee. Considering the lack of upfront clarity about their policy, this felt completely unreasonable. Rather than attempting to resolve the issue amicably or acknowledging their failure to disclose key details, the host doubled down on enforcing their cancellation policy, making the entire situation feel rigid and dismissive. While Alpenhof Lodge might be appealing on the surface, their unclear policies and unwillingness to accommodate reasonable concerns make them hard to recommend. Transparency and flexibility are key in hospitality, and Alpenhof Lodge fails on both fronts. If you're a pet owner or someone who values clear communication, look elsewhere. Wouldn't recommend unless you're traveling pet-free and willing to deal with a "my-way-or-the-highway" approach to customer service.

Yelp
I've stayed here before and knew the rooms were older and there was no elevator. The young bearded gentleman that checked us in was rude and lazy. We were the only guests there and he pointed out in a snarky tone the great favor he was doing us by checking us in a bit early. When I asked later about location of the ice machine, he was rude and disrespectful reminding me it was on the "white information sheet" he gave us and was totally put out when I inquired about some information on our bill. At that point I told him to just forget it and moved on. He didn't save his horrible customer service skills just for us, he was arguing with two guests one afternoon as we were leaving. The other employees at the front desk were very helpful and nice. Also, know that you will have to make your own bed and ask for more coffee, etc. They have downsized the maid service to fresh towels and emptied trash. The 2nd floor hallway has dips in it so be careful when walking! It needs repaired badly. The positives, location, beds are comfortable and Cellar bar and their staff are the best part of this hotel.

Tom G.

Yelp
Our room was nice and the facilities are good. There is a pool though we didn't use it. If you go in summer, expect the room to be pretty warm. Our fireplace was giving off heat, despite being turned off and the front desk wasn't helpful about it.

Dodolinne S.

Yelp
Horrible experience. The coffee machine is in the restroom, literally by the toilet bowl...the room was located in the attic, no natural light, no ventilation. Holway smells like trash. Everything outdated and old. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

Yelp
Who's that fat woman at the door today Jun/24/2023 ? Actually there's 1skinny man(wearing black top n bottom) and 1fat woman(wearing grey colored clothes) I stayed here before when I visited first time in mammoth. No complain about lodge. Good enough to recommend to anyone. Specially I love the restaurant Petra's. Today was my last time skiing in mammoth for this season and of course I stopped by Petra's I drove GMC truck this time, so it wasn't easy to park. That 2ppl were standing at 2nd floor's hotel concierge door, and that skinny man cam down stairs n helped me parking. I parked where he ordered me to park. Since I drove big truck this time, so it's better follow his direction than taking normal parking spot. He's way to talking wasn't nice. He seems frustrated. But I didn't want to care. I'm here for nice meal and good time. I had to little long walk since I parked far. But I didn't mind. I was in happy mood until that fat woman started to yelling me. She must be boring. She was Keep standing at same spot and keep watching me when I walked out of parking lot. And then she's suddenly yelled at me. "Your car is going to be towed if you go to cross street!!" Wth.. I told her "I don't go to cross street!" She's keep yelling me "I bet you do!!" Wth! What an earth in cross street??? Again, I'm visiting mammoth often but for skiing. I don't really know about this town. )I stayed in the Westin latest time and Mammoth inn this time. But I don't where is where . Just keep following navigation) She's keep yelling me that my cars gonna be towed and she's suddenly went back to inside. I came in to restaurant. Told restaurant ppl what's just happening, They said sorry. But no one seem to know what's going on w those hotel employees.. Again, I'm visiting here. I don't know what to do. I parked exactly where he asked me to park. But that woman keep yelling me that my cars gonna be towed. I didn't know how to protect me and my car! So I called 911. Police officer heard my story and he wanted to talk to that woman. But omg she's disappeared! She must heard that I'm talking to officer cuz I was talking to him with speaker phone. Police officer told me that call him back if she towed my car. She's going to be arrested. All my friends went to get a hamburgers and beer, but I wanna have a good food that's why i came here alone myself! But that fat woman ruined whole my evening. There's lot a choice to staying n lodging. Don't go here. You will have to arguing with that ugly fat woman. Too bad ..they got a new employees. This employee is going to ruin their business. She's there Jun/24/2023. Fat woman who's wearing grey colored clothes. She worked there with 1 skinny man who's wearing black top and bottom. Don't go to Alpenhof Lodge if you don't wanna mess up your vacation in mammoth.

Yelp
Cleanliness: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Comfort: 2/5 Noise: 4/5 Overall: A relatively clean hotel but no AC in a very small room. The extended review... Cleanliness: 4/5 - The linens and towels were clean. Service: 5/5 - Martha was super friendly and helpful. I called for an early check in and she was very helpful in accommodating. Comfort: 2/5 - The beds were comfortable. One issue was that the room and bathroom were a bit tight. And the most important part was there was no air conditioning...it wasn't listed on the amenities but in this day and age I would expect I would need to check...guess not. Noise: 4/5 - Thankfully not that noisy.

Mary D.

Yelp
This is a very cute and comfortable hotel lodge in an amazingly beautiful tourist trap of an area. The inside and outside has a Germanic or Swedish Lodge feel and there is always someone at the front desk willing to serve you. Due to the pandemic, maid services are only available upon request, however, our trip will be short so it's fine. I appreciate that the bathroom lights are motion sensores so you aren't going to be fumbling around in the middle of the night looking for a light switch. The carpet throughout is a bit dated and old but it's clean and the beds are comfortable.

Maryann R.

Yelp
Great LOCATION! It's located in the village, across from the gondola. You can walk everywhere or take a shuttle. Seriously, this location is fabulous! Impeccable CUSTOMER SERVICE! Martha and the staff are very helpful! Rooms are CLEAN and SPACIOUS! It's like time travel to 1985. But who cares? It's comfortable and clean! I never expected to come back, but when it snowed out of the blue, I immediately looked at Alpenhof and was able to get a 20% discount for returning within 30 days. Hooray! The only things I didn't like is there is no microwave in the room. You have to go to the main building for it. The shower in the king room was very very short. (But the shower in the queen room was AMAZING - like a spa!!!) I wish the king had a fireplace and I wish the queen had a balcony! The king room was SUPER PRIVATE and you could open the curtains wide, but not with the queen (ground level parking lot view). I feel like I found my mammoth home-away-from home! The price is reasonable too, given the location! It was shoulder season but $119 was great! It went down to $99 at times. Excellent value! I'll be back!

Amanda C.

Yelp
Great hotel for the price!!! I've stayed in most of the budget hotels here in Mammoth, and this one is the top of my list. The pros: The room is close to the village - walking distance! The prices are reasonable The rooms are clean They provide masks They provide complimentary bottled water They provide a fan Affordable Free parking Free wifi Nearby restaurant and bar The cons: The rooms are older, but remodeled. They really need to replace the carpet . There's no air conditioning (most budget hotels in Mammoth don't have AC) It's very close to the village with may be negative to some. On nights the village has live music, it could go on until 10pm and you may hear it in your room if you sleep early. The wifi is slow The parking lot was packed every day we stayed, but we found a spot. The beds are very firm with nay be a pro or con to some. Not sure if there's an elevator. Guests who are handicap and have a hard time with stairs should call to see if your needs can be met. There's about 10 starts it's to the front desk to check in, hotel is 2 stories. Would I stay here again? Yes.

denise m.

Yelp
We have stayed numerous times. It's a very quaint lodge where you feel at home. They have always been extremely friendly and helpful in anything we've needed. The connected restaurants are definitely a bonus when not wanting to venture out during a storm. The location can't be best, as it's right across the street from the gondola. There are many different room configurations that can accommodate a couple, to a small family. Looking forward to our trip back!

Joelle C.

Yelp
Man oh man! Once you walked in the lodge it's toasty. They sure do make sure to keep their guests warm. Honestly it's a little too warm. We had to open up our window in the room even at times when the heater was at low. Do you know they actually give you real keys not the card to scan or swipe...pretty old school and I love it. I could actually attach the key to my very own set of keys and it's safe. I love how I could watch TV basically on any channel. Most hotels only have a generic channel of the hotel rundown and ads and if you want to watch something cool it seems like you have to pay. The fridge in the room is a little tiny not much room to put anything perhaps it's the standard...I ono. The beds seem small but they worked for the four of us. Also, seemed pretty firm and comfy. Blankets were warm but didn't quite need it since the room was warm. Four stars for their service because my autistic son kept locking the bathroom door and we couldn't get in to do business so we had to call to get somebody to unlock it. My son also knocked down a glass bottle and had to get house cleaning to vacuum up the broken glass. When I called for help their response was pretty immediate. Lastly, make sure you wear your mask because they kept reinforcing it.

Molly L.

Yelp
Stayed here with a friend last month to explore the area and we ended up choosing the Alpenhof Lodge since it's so close to everything! Overall it's a great hotel. We loved the architecture - when we stayed here, masks were required indoors. The check in and check out process was super easy and quick, however they only give you a small bag of coffee for the coffee machine in your room. Not a bad thing, but if you need more you need to go to the front desk and ask for it. The rooms are pretty good. The bed wasn't super comfortable because we prefer softer mattresses and this one was very firm. The sheets are thin and a comforter wasn't really included. It was more like a thick sheet placed over the bed sheets. They also have free WiFi but my friend and I noticed it's pretty slow. I think that might be something to consider if you find yourself needing WiFi during your visit here. Overall great hotel/lodge. We would come here again for sure but we might try another area in Mammoth just to check things out.

Alex Y.

Yelp
Oldie but goodie. I love coming here. You definitely get the feeling of being in Europe. Service is good and the ambiance is, what we go there for. You will like it.

JiaJia T.

Yelp
Besides the location and big beds, there's not much that would make me want to come back. The room is in desperate need of an update, it smelled musty, and the bathroom is so small you have to squeeze to the side to close the door. The corner of the bed was so close to the bathroom that we kept on bumping into it. There's no maid service and no breakfast. The small garbage pails filled up after 2 days and you need to throw it out yourself. The pool was closed. I booked mammoth last minute so there weren't many choices, but seriously the perks of hotels/motel over Airbnb is that you get maid service and oftentimes breakfast included. This one is like an old rundown motel with no additional amenities. Definitely trying somewhere else next time

Kelly D.

Yelp
Prime location! I went during the spring season before Mammoth closed Eagle and Canyon lifts and was very happy with my stay at Alpenhof. The price came out to about $200/night, which was way more reasonable than Airbnb/VRBO during the same time period. You can't beat the less than 5 min walk to the Village Gondola each morning. Top Highlights - Location: Across the street from Village Gondola - Staff: Extremely helpful and friendly. Very accommodating with all of our requests through out stay. - Petras and Clocktower: Best food options in the Village and only a few steps away - Heater: Strong and warms room up quickly Overall, Alpenhof was a very no frills lodging experience. Heater was loud and bed was not too comfortable, but the room was cozy and I would not hesitate to book again in the future.

Angela F.

Yelp
This charming European style lodge is spotless, spacious, well designed, and is located just steps from a lot of fun restaurants, the Mammoth gondola, and a small general store, yet is still nestled within the trees. Aside from the standard amenities, our room is very generous in size, has a firm but comfortable mattress, has convenient shelves and a small fridge, extra spots to hang jackets, and a pretty view of the snow and trees. I am normally a light sleeper but was not disturbed. The property is a tiny bit dated but that adds to its charm and the housekeeping staff keeps everything looking SPOTLESS. I also appreciated that it feels just like when we stayed in Switzerland. This is a great value for your money. 5 star for me! We'll definitely stay here again.

John O.

Yelp
At least the prices are cheap and the location is good. The rooms are in need of a major upgrade. Bathroom was terrible in my unit. Water pressure very weak. Shower door looked about 50 years old and was hard to open. We stayed on the 3rd floor and it gets hot up there. You can't open the window to get air overnight. Location is good with access to the village across the street and plenty of places to eat nearby. Parking is plentiful on site. I'd only stay here for a budget accommodation.

Tami L.

Yelp
We stayed last year & it was great but this year we were put in VERY stuffy room on the 3rd floor that had NO air flow & no a/c! We had 2 fans (1 we found in the hallway & grabbed it) but there were no outlets near the tiny window to get air flow throughout the room. We stayed 3 nights paying over $200/night for this room & we got very little sleep due to the heat. This room was booked 7 months in advance & when we complained to the front desk, they said there was nothing they could do. The electricity kept going out on 1 side of the room periodically. The coffee pot was a 1 cup that had to be plugged into the wall in the bathroom because the cord was so short that we couldn't plug in on the dresser or frig. The remote control for the tv worked part of the time. There were 2 hard chairs for us to sit on but no table that we could eat at (there was a coffee table but no sofa for this so not sure why this would be in the room)/we weren't able to sit there & eat anything without putting in our laps or sitting in the bed to eat. Last year we paid less & got a better room & booked later than this year. VERY disappointed & do NOT plan to stay here again!

Yelp
I've skied Mammoth in the 70s and 80s but haven't had the chance to get back to this amazing mountain until this past week. When searching around for a place to stay, I came across Alpenhof and immediately smiled because I used to say here back in the 70s! I had a wonderful stay while here this past week. The staff were very helpful and I had dinner one night at the restaurant right in the hotel. It's a very popular place even for people not staying at the hotel. My room was everything I needed for a quick solo trip and the location is very convenient right across the street from the Canyon gondola. There's a reason why Alpenhof is still in business after all the years and it goes right to great customer service and cozy rooms!

Mary J. M.

Yelp
Cute spot REALLY really nice staff. Clean and great location. The only downfall is no AC, so it's definitely more of a winter spot. But you can't beat the price and location!!!

Ciera G.

Yelp
We had a great stay at Alpenhof Lodge! It's so close to everything and we walked to most places each day and night. It does get quite toasty in the rooms and the power did go off during our stay, but we had such a great time that it didn't matter at all. The restaurant and bar that are attached are so convenient and had great service + food and drinks. Definitely recommend if you are looking for an affordable and clean hotel that is walking distance from everything.

Sean C.

Yelp
The place has really nice theme. The staff was rude. The hotel was very outdated, however the bed was comfortable. There was no a/c and it was very stuffy in there. The people upstairs had heavy feet and you can here everything.

Pablo V.

Yelp
Terrible customer service!! They would not want to make a change to my reservation after being told I had to change it because they counted my daughter as an extra guest. I requested to change to 2 beds and they would not allow it and still charged me $25 for cancelling. Never booking at this place!

Sharon S.

Yelp
Rooms nice for the price, but very small. Our room was right above the main entrance so very noisy later in the evening as people coming back to the motel. Not impressed with the maid service at all. If you are staying several days all the maids will do is come in and bring clean towels and empty trash cans. Had to ask everyday for more coffee, cups, sugar and soaps. They didn't just leave these items unless you asked.

Kelli S.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, Martha was great! Impressively clean, good for our Covid times! Right across the street is shopping and dining, walk to it all. Even the gondola is across the street. Buy your lift ticket, rent your gear and jump on the gondola.

Christina D.

Yelp
Great location and very friendly staff! Adorable on the outside, but the inside was outdated and dirty. We upgraded to an air conditioned room, which only had a portable a/c window unit- it was better than nothing, but it was still quite warm in the room.

Gordon W.

Yelp
Hot water works! Key works! Cozy room, refrigerator, pod coffee maker, cookies. This place has nice service, comfy beds, ok size tub. They bring you towels or anything you need. The restaurant Petra's that is in hotel is amazing! Order the wine marinade chicken! Lots of restaurant choices in walking distance. Ice bucket doesn't hold champaign bottle but there is no annoying dim bathroom light connected to lawnmower loud bathroom fan. There is actually a separate bright light switch so you can enjoy a steamy shower!!!

Janine D.

Yelp
Always a great place to stay. Friendly staff. Great rooms. And I love going to Petra's.

Bob H.

Yelp
Martha was very pleasant at check in. Unfortunately it was downhill after that. Entering the room you get hit with a old musty smell when there is no air circulation. The motel is old and has seen better days. The curtains were worn with holes and tears. There was a left over skid mark in the toilet. There is no air conditioning and it's hot and muggy in July. On the first floor there are no windows or doors to open without compromising security. The room next door was packed with people having a party, screaming as loud as they could. By 10:00pm I called the front desk a registered my complaint. They have no security. The front desk gal tried calling the room twice, I could hear the phone ringing but the partiers couldn't. The employee then knocked on their door and spoke to them. That worked. No fan so we sweat in the bed and got no sleep. We will never return.

Korinne T.

Yelp
Can't speak highly enough of this quaint, adorable place!! Gave me European holiday vibes, and my boyfriend was obsessed with the German feel of this lodge. We arrived early (around 11am, check in was at 4pm!) and they were super accommodating and told us our room would be ready in about 10 minutes when it was done being cleaned. We had been camping the previous nights and were so grateful for a shower lol. The room was super clean, and we were stoked on a massive balcony looking out towards the village!! Every time we walked out the host would greet us and chat with us a bit, she was so sweet!! Will definitely try to stay here again when we're back in town!

Sarita S.

Yelp
Wow this place is right at the bottom of the slopes. The staff are super nice and helpful. Room was very nice. Wish walls were able to keep sound in. Next door was a big family with kids. They're screaming right now. That's not the hotel's fault, I'm not sure why they aren't even trying to be quiet. It's only 8pm. Very clean. Heater is really good. Water pressure excellent. I'd come back for sure.

AllenD A.

Yelp
We decided to stay in Mammoth and break up our drive from Lake Tahoe to Southern California. We have read and heard great things about this place and decided to give it a try. Everything that we read and heard about was spot on as the service and amenities were great. We arrived here on a Saturday around 3 PM in the middle of August. As we checked in they had ice cold water station and they also had some cookies for the kids as they were very hungry before dinner. If you stay mid week, they do have some specials. The photos are from rooms 206 (king with mini balcony) and 208 two twins. I highly recommend checking this place out. Be sure to make a dinner reservation at Petra's and before dinner have a beer at their bar, Clocktower Bar.

Raine C.

Yelp
The only * is for the location. Super thin walls, you can literally hear the conversations of people talking next door to your room & rooms above. Don't stay downstairs unless you like constant stomping of what sounded like combat boots at all hours, felt like the room above ours would come crashing down at any minute. They don't clean your room, you have to ask front desk for clean towels & if trash in room, have to dump yourself. Old & smelly rooms, won't be staying here ever again.

Erica R.

Yelp
Writing this review solely because the staff is amazing! Martha in particular went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and our confusing schedule. The hotel itself is simple, and thats really all we really needed when in the mountains. Its located in a prime area, walkable to all sorts of restaurants and shops and has its own parking. It does get a bit noisy outside simply because its a busy area. Not to the fault of the hotel.

rep c.

Yelp
Great service, location, prices and amenities (clean, authentic and cozy)! Centrally located to shops, restaurants, mountain bus, etc. Friendly staff and wonderful free breakfast!

Matt M.

Yelp
As a frequent visitor to Mammoth, I've stayed in pretty much every type of lodging property there is - from camping at Twin Lakes, to Snowcreek Condos, to the ultra-expensive Juniper Springs Lodge. Of them all, my favorite place to stay remains the Alpenhof Hotel. First off I really dig the whole European chalet-style vibe. Its fun/charming without being too kitschy. But more than anything, the Alpenhof is a really good value. Considering the location (mere steps away from the Village Gondola), I think the rates are pretty reasonable. The rooms are simple and clean. The beds are super comfy, with sparkling white linens and big fluffy pillows. There's great water pressure and plenty of hot water (key after a long day on the mountain). They do a free continental breakfast in the morning with various pastries, cereals, lunch meats, yogurt, fruits and coffee and tea - it's actually really, really good (a big upgrade from the boxed donuts and toast they used to serve). Also, they have free WiFi!!! (nothing gets me grumpier than hotels that charge for WiFi). Also, no charge for parking!! Like I mention above, the lodge is right across the street from the village and a quick walk to the lifts, as well as shopping and dining. However what with a killer restaurant (Petra's) and the best bar in town (The Clocktower) right there at the lodge, I usually end up staying on-property. Finally, the staff are always super friendly and accommodating. To be clear, if you are looking for an ultra-modern, super swanky upscale hotel Alpenhof is not your place. But if you are looking for a fun, friendly, clean, comfortable and convenient lodge where you can just relax and enjoy your Mammoth visit - and not break the bank - then look no further!

Pat K.

Yelp
Awesome European feel lodge next to the Mammoth Village. Much better than staying at a modern hotel at the Village. This is for the old time charm of European style alpine ski lodge. Early season ski trip meant very low crowds, great weather and easy to relax. An older building but very solid and well kept up. Room was perfect - small but very well laid out - heater kept us warm. Bathroom was old but very clean and water pressure was good. Room came with 2 bottles of CG water - each day was replenished - very nice touch since the high altitude will dehydrate you very quickly! WiFi was good, signal strong and fast. TV had very good cable channels and quality of the TV was excellent. Morning breakfast is definitely German/Austrian style - very authentic! Friendly staff, workers, and the adjoining restaurant for dinner was the bomb! See my review of their Petra restaurant! Will definitely be returning when the snow dumps and the Village gondola starts.

Mike O.

Yelp
This hotel is trying to keep my money even though they closed the mountain and town down during the fires. That is about as low and sleazy as you can possibly be. Do not stay here!!! I drove 6 hours to stay here and they closed the mountain because of the fires. I had to get another hotel at the bottom of the mountain and they are trying to keep the money. That is totally ridiculous!! You should be ashamed of yourselves. I'm going to have my other friends that were with me add some more reviews. I'm also going to post this on trip advisor and your Facebook page.

Yelp
The perfect place to stay in the mountains. Friendly staff at check in/check out. It's a charming setting with the Alpine decor and trees throughout the parking lot. Excellent value too (off season). We had a spacious room with two king beds, and it was one of the less expensive places in town. The breakfast was perfect. European style with boiled eggs, cold cuts, and oatmeal. I highly recommend the Alpenhof for a traditional mountain resort town experience.

Yelp
I'll start by saying to each their own. So this is my viewpoint. The location is great, the older gentleman and woman at the check in area were very nice. However their was some 20'ish kid who looked like he was being tortured working there. Not rude or purposely crabby, just seemed to lack any communication skills. We had #418 I believe which was a 2 bedroom "cottage" all the way in the back. Location again was nice. Parking right in front of the unit. This is where mediocrity starts. It's just old inside. All the new places like Juniper or Village make this place look like a dump. Turning on the plug in heaters would pop the circuit breaker on in the closet. The absolute worse thing about the whole trip was the worst shower I've ever been in. The shower is 36" x 36" with a shower head that sprays 5' high against the shower wall. So if you're shorter than 6' tall, you will not be sprayed by shower head. It's miserable. If I take the shower experience out, I would give this place a 6/10. Given 3 days without a shower, it drops the ranking to 2/10. I will never stay here again. We had others in our party that stayed in the main building that had normal showers in a bath tub. Those rooms are dated but at least have a normal shower. In full disclosure, we stayed in the "high end" cottage rooms. The regular single rooms are better if you take showers that is. There is breakfast which is a nice touch. It's a simply walk across street to get to Village gondola. Parking seems plentiful.

Yelp
Very cool spot. I've been coming to Mammoth since 1979 and finally stayed here. I arrived at midnight Thursday night with an unexpected additional guest. They accommodated us for the night and immediately got us into an appropriate room the next morning. The service was great and they offer a season pass holder discount. They have a great breakfast for you before you hit the slopes which is included with your room. The outside is charming and is old school Mammoth before it became a 5 star ski destination. The rooms are updated and current. It's literally across the street from the gondola to Canyon Lodge.

Yelp
This place is the best bang for your buck! My first stay in Mammoth was awesome because of this cozy lodge. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for the following reasons: 1. Great location! 1 minute walk to The Village, brewery, restaurants, gondola, and shuttle stop. You do not need to drive anywhere when you stay here because everything is within walking distance. 2. Free breakfast! Every morning breakfast is provided and it is great tasting and filling. My girlfriend personally loved the toasted bagels and I loved the oatmeal. 3. Cozy and comfortable rooms! We had a room with a fireplace (which I would also recommend) and we loved it. The beds were also every comfortable and the maid even made our beds with our blankets under the comforter. These rooms are very spacious and cozy. 4. Great price! All the places we looked at in this area were more expensive and were not as accommodating as this lodge. The front desk even lets your rent out board games for free and they also gave us a late checkout. Do yourself a favor and book this place for your next mammoth stay.

Yelp
We arrived to Mammoth to find that the townhome we had rented on Airbnb had been DOUBLE-BOOKED by the owner through VRBO. It was a NIGHTMARE! But a huge thanks must be given to the staff at the Alpenhof Lodge for holding a room for us while we sorted everything out. They were able to accommodate 5 of us in an end room with 3 double beds with very little notice and at a reasonable rate! The location was great - right next to the Village and gondola up to Canyon Lodge, as well as above the Clocktower Cellar bar. We were able to leave our car parked there the next day (after checking out) while we skiied. The continental breakfast was decent too with a variety of choices (tea, coffee, oj, bagels, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, cheese/meat). Thank you Alpenhof for saving the day! +1 - Killer location next to Village +1 - Walking distance to gondola +1 - Reasonably priced +1 - Can accommodate large group (5-6) +1 - Decent continental breakfast included

Yelp
I realized that even though I've stayed at Alpenhof Lodge many times with complete satisfaction, I hadn't yet written a Yelp review. Well, it's the best value in Mammoth. This evaluation comes from a guy that used to stay at the Ullr Lodge (across the intersection) when it was $9/person. Ullr is gone now, but Alpenhof is conveniently located, has great dining options within footsteps, is located across the street from the Village Gondola, has parking close to your room, is neat and clean, has personnel that are helpful, friendly, and attentive, and even has a continental breakfast that's included in your room fee. Old world charm is there too, which I'm completely into. It ain't the Ritz, but what powerhound wants that?

Yelp
This hotel has one thing going for it and that is the location. Right across from the Gondola. It that tops your list maybe take a chance. The one star rating is for the following. Shower had no hot water only warm-not ok. Couldn't wash my hair for three days. The shower head isn't even 5ft high so my poor 6' tall Husband couldn't wash his hair either. The heater has two settings: off and 900 degrees. Like many other reviewers mentioned we had to open a window in February. The hot tub is small and located in the basement right next to dive bar so very odd. Parking was tough when we would return after dinner the lot would be full. Towels are very scratchy. Breakfast was fine and the woman working the breakfast was terrific. We had drinks and tots at the basement bar and my Hubby got sick. If heating worked and showers were updated to include hot water and a decent shower head I could see it being 3 or 4 star.

Yelp
I have stayed at Alpenhof Lodge twice, very happy with my choice both times. Its a very friendly, family run business, staffed with people who really care. Its kept very clean and tidy, the entire staff has been wonderful. The breakfast is lovely, a nice european style selection of proteins, oatmeal, toast, cheeses and more. Its a very short jump across the street to the gondola up to Canyon Lodge and the shops, other restaurants. They also have a pretty epic bar (The Clocktower) downstairs from their own restaurant (Petra's), one of the fine dining places in town with a great selection of wines. When we needed a recommendation on a local mechanic the young man at the front desk took out a map and directed us to local garages that he thought were good. Above and beyond...I will alway go back to Alpenhof Lodge, I like the old fashioned European values!

Yelp
I am so grateful to this lodge. I got off the JMT due to smoke from the fires. It was a Saturday and I didn't know if I could find a place to stay. I called the Alpenhof Lodge and they happened to have a room available. I told her I was coming off the trail and she reserved a specific room for me that wouldn't be so warm. Check in was 3pm but they gave me the keys at 1:30pm. I got into the room and crashed. Later that night when I was ready to go out and explore the area, the deadbolt to my door was stuck. After minutes of trying myself I realized I wasn't going to be able to get out. I called the front desk and a nice guy came within minutes and got it unlocked. All was good again and he was going to get someone out the next morning to fix it. The next morning I went to the front desk and asked if there was anyway I could get a room with a tub. My body was sore from backpacking and a tub sounded amazing. Christina was so kind, patient and worked happily and cheerfully to find me another room that had a tub. It would've cost me another $30 but she gave it to me for the same price as my prior room. I honestly can't explain how kind all of the people that work at this lodge are. I even forgot my food in the fridge from my old room and they saved it for me.They recognized me when I came through the front door and asked if I wanted the food that I left in my room. I come from the bay area and I don't get this kind of treatment anywhere there. I would definitely stay here again. I believe in supporting local business and particularly businesses that truly care. These are good people!
