Alpenhof Murnau (Murnau am Staffelsee, Bavaria) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"This is a luxury hotel undergoing transformation. Despite constant investments and renovations, the hosts have maintained their high standard of service throughout. Tastefully furnished guestrooms (the modern ones are a delight! ), an excellent breakfast (still available for late risers), and plenty of spa and wellness options. Beautiful scenery and magnificent views of the Wetterstein and Ester mountains complete the picture." - Tablet Hotels

We have stayed in the past at this hotel and have very much enjoyed it. This last time, the service at this hotel proved extraordinary. We booked a a walking tour of the town of Murnau. However, there was a miscommunication regarding the meeting point and we missed the departure of the tour group. The head of the reception area immediately jumped in and offered to drive us in her personal car to connect with the tour. While in the end we weren't able to reconnect with the tour, we were absolutely amazed at the extra length the hotel staff went through to to fix the error. In the end, it wasn't a big deal and we were able to enjoy the town's sights on our own. When we returned to the hotel, the hotel had arranged for a number of nice treats for us to "make up" for the error. This demonstrated to us that this hotel takes service extremely seriously. Very impressive and well done!!

I'll be very frank, this was hands down the worst 5 star room I've ever stayed in, outside of Egypt (which are all fake 5 star hotels). Multiple reasons - it was cold, quite dark, old fashioned, worn carpet, poor decor, old fashioned light switches, toilet and door awkwardly on top of each other, tiny old bathroom, shower head didn't stay up, water would alternate between ok and burning in the shower which literally almost burned me - a first in 1000s of hotels. Yes it was clean. Yes service was ok. Yes I'm sure the pool and amenities are fine. But the rooms - not worth 200 EUR let alone 360 EUR. Not remotely. Would never stay here again unless they did a massive renovation.

Hotel situated 20min walk from Station on the edge of Murnau, facing Moos (5 minutes walk to start of Rundweg) and mountains. Fantastic facilities - indoor and heated out door pools, great spa facilities. Hotel is spacious and relaxed, lovely grounds. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Very relaxing stay!

We had a wonderful 4night stay for our wedding anniversary. The panorama double room had beautiful views of the mountains and was very clean. Staff were very friendly, we unfortunately had a medical emergency during our stay but the staff were so helpful, as English speaking guests there was no communication issues at all - the customer service was excellent throughout. Staff even put on an extra treat for our anniversary evening meal which was very kind. All the food during our stay was delicious and they had a good variety of options available. The spa is a must experience too, very well themed and plenty of different rooms to try, so even when busy it doesn’t feel overcrowded. We really enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool on a fresh morning and evening. Lucky that it snowed during our stay so the surrounding area was like a winter wonderland. Staff also recommended a nearby walk to Murnauer Moos straight from the hotel, it was lovely, flat circular route - definitely recommend. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away, returned home feeling relaxed and refreshed - thank you. We hope to visit again one day.

The Alpenhof is in a class of its own. It is a wonderfully quaint & picturesque hotel situated 25 minutes from the Alp’s and about 40 minutes to Munich. This location allows you to enjoy both a city and nature trip. The design of the hotel sparks a warm and comfortable luxurious vibe. Service from the staff was exceptional. The gourmet breakfast was delicious and the lunch/dinner was also on par. This is the first hotel I’ve been to that includes in the rooms a free minibar. Take advantage of the great Spa that has both indoor & outdoor pools (heated in the winter). Each Thursday evening they serve free beer and gluhwein outside near the pool where you can socialize with the hotel guests. The views are gorgeous in any direction and the hotel recommends many different activities you can do close by or in town. We had the two level suite that had a beautiful design (minus the bathroom tiles, didn’t love that color). Hotel is dog friendly. Overall if you are looking for a gorgeous Bavarian hotel/trip, this should definitely be on your bucket list.

Our stay at Alpenhof Murnau was absolutely magical – the perfect place to spend the Christmas holiday. From the moment we arrived, we felt surrounded by warmth and charm. The property itself is stunning, with heated indoor and outdoor pools that made for a relaxing and luxurious experience, even in the chill of winter. We especially loved unwinding in the warm waters while taking in the serene surroundings. The dining experience was remarkable. Every meal in the dining room felt like a celebration, with impeccable service and dishes that were as beautiful as they were delicious. Tea time was a delightful highlight, adding a cozy touch to our afternoons. Our rooms were nothing short of amazing – spacious, beautifully designed, and offering every comfort imaginable. It was truly a home away from home. And the town of Murnau? Simply lovely. Wandering its streets felt like stepping into a Christmas postcard. The charm of the town added to the overall magic of our stay. We can't recommend Alpenhof Murnau enough for anyone looking for a cozy, luxurious retreat. We’re already dreaming of our next visit!

First off, this hotel is quite beautifully located and the grounds/pool are beautiful and picturesque. If you are spoiled like I am, you may be turned off by the fact that there is NO AC at this hotel (or any of the hotels in the area?). We were there in July when it was quite hot, but luckily our stay coincided with some rain that cooled things down. Our first night, we slept with the door open (with locking screen door), and it ended up being the most relaxing sleep during our whole trip! The breeze was perfect, so I didn't even miss the AC. While there were quite a few flies, the room was very clean. Please know that there are some rooms that are very upgraded like in the photos, and there are some that are outdated (like the one our friends got stuck with). I feel the difference in these rooms can really drive the experience one way or another. Fortunately, we had one of the upgraded rooms that connected to another upgraded room for our whole family. The balconies were an added bonus especially on a nice night when the moon was full and perfect. The bathrooms were meh with very high bathtubs (not convenient for seniors or toddlers). ||The hotel felt very kid-friendly with lots of space to run around, cute dinosaur slippers for our toddler, slippers for our bigger kids, and a very helpful staff. Also, there is a huge kids' activity play room downstairs! Seems like it was tucked away as there was never anybody there. Kept our two year old busy for hours. It was hard to get him to leave. Breakfast was fine, but in a nice setting.

Yelp
Very spacious and comfortable room, lobby area and lounge/bar. I loved the toiletry and good water pressure. Nice swimming pool and simple gym with necessary equipments. Nothing much around so this is a place to come for relaxing time. Staff are friendly and breakfast was great. Good Espresso/coffee machine but not available before 7 am. Unless you have a car, it costs about €150-170 to Munich airport.
