A nice visit with kids when you are in town. The zoo has a good size for various animals in the region. You can simply finish the entire zoo in a couple of hours. There are actually plenty of interesting animals. All the descriptions are just written in German. So if you can't read German, get your Google Translate ready!

Great attraction up the mountain in Innsbruck. The animals were clearly very hot during a scorching August day, but the zoo did not disappoint. We brought our stroller which is recommended given a lot of walking required.
Included in the Innsbruck card.

Nice small zoo up lower area of the mountain. The crowd was less in the afternoon and my kid enjoy the playground in the zoo. There are mixture of birds and animals so it is easy to navigate around and visit this zoo. Only thing is reaching the zoo, either by driving or like us as tourists which we took the train instead.

Bigger than expected but a lot of empty cages. Built on a steep hill so be prepared to walk up and down hills. Having said that, there are some highlights; the brown bear, the alpine ibex, vultures, bison and wild boars. Add the zoo to your cable car trip for an extra €5. Recommend a walk to the the top of the foxes area where you can have an ice cream, swing on a wooden hammock and take in the views of Innsbruck.

Some animals were cooped up in too small cages… on the other hand, some animals would already be extinct if it hadn’t been for zoos’ breeding programs.. So it’s a bit double.
We enjoyed the visit but it would be a good thing if the cages of some of the bigger animals would be extended!

Great little zoo up in the hills. Nice to get up close with some of the animals. Brought the toddler there who wanted to nap so I had more fun. Love that the Moose stopped, looked at me, squat and pee’d whilst making eye contact with me 😂
Took the W bus from the town. Quick and efficient, easy to plan return trip as it came to the zoo every 30 mins.

Great zoo with interesting ways of presenting the animals like open cages-you can actually have an eagle flying over your head. It seems that there was a lot of thinking in celreating each animal with the space that will suit it best

Get ready for a hike!
Lovely place to spend half a day or more but like most people out here would have already posted, it has an uphill to downhill configuration, so you're in for a hike. Don't forget to visit the small museum they have as well.

Yelp
What a wonderful zoo! We were amazed at all the local animals. There were some we would never see in the zoos where we live in the states so it was very exciting to explore the zoo here. The staff was super kind and the animals were so cute! I never saw so many baby animals until today! The animals definitely seem happy here with the big spaces.

Yelp
A rather small zoo with alpine animals. Do not expect lions and the like. Fabulous view, too. Take the Hungerburgbahn to get there for an additional benefit . (They offer a combined ticket - ask for it.)

Yelp
I understand that this zoo is only full of animals that are found locally or nearby, but I was still hoping for something a little more exciting than moose or bears. Those were by far the most exotic and cool animal to view. The mapping of this place is crazy. Awful location. It's right on a hill and it's all uphill or downhill. The zoo is also incredibly hard to navigate and I couldn't get out for a bit! The aquarium is disappointing. Overall, I feel like this zoo needs to step up its mapping within the park so people know where they are going and also need to bring some new attractions to the zoo.

Yelp
Such a fun stop and a must see while in Innsbruck, especially if you have children. Wear comfy shoes because there are A LOT of up and down hills to walk. Great alpine animals to see that are local to the area and a petting zoo where you can feed the farm animals. You can also purchase a combined ticket where you can continue up the mountain to the Seegrube afterward. Both the zoo and Seegrube offer great views.

Yelp
We went up part way since it was a very overcast/rainy day. On the way back we hit the zoo. Stroller friendly, but you will be pushing up and down lots of hills. This is bigger than expected. It was nice weather, not hot and we got to see almost all of the animals. We went with 3 kids 6 and under and spent about 2 hours here. Worth the visit.

Yelp
Great zoo! Very cute and we loved it. We took the train car thing that goes up the mountain and got off at this stop to see the zoo - it was like a combo ticket that we bought at the bottom of the mountain. Sorry I don't have more details but it is a cute zoo - but small.

Yelp
Beautiful, sunny winter day at the zoo. Eagles, wolves, moose, mountain goats, bear, and lynx were active. All local Tyrolean animals. Even the boar and bison were up and about. Lots of photo opportunities. Colder, but worth putting on extra layers for.

Yelp
The highest zoo in Europe. Perched on a hillside just across the Inn river from Innsbruck. Easy to reach by the Bergbahn at Congress and a special ticket covers the zoo and tram. My kids enjoyed the unique animals, especially the big, white snow rabbits.

Yelp
Great zoo. Not the biggest one I have been too and there aren't a large amount of animals but the natural habitats and the views are amazing! Not to mention, all of the animals were out and about, not hiding. If you go, I suggest going early if you take the cable car because those cars begin to fill up fast as the day goes on!

Yelp
The alpenzoo is unique and very pretty.
But there is not the largest selection of animals.
Its worth seeing though, as its a zoo in the mountains!
